Been visiting paramount for 35 years .always perfect, food,staff,but miss sue now she's retired ,but Alan is still cooking his heart out and always spot on .

These people treat their younger members of staff disgusting 🫣 Reducing them to tears and humiliating them in front of customers is a disgrace. We witnessed a poor member of staff being abused by the older woman who I believe is the chefs wife. She was slurring her words also. I will never eat here again. You should be ashamed of yourself

Unfortunately our visit was marred by the totally unacceptable behaviour of the chefs wife who totally humiliated a young member of staff. She was subjected to a vicious, uncalled for and disgusting volley of abuse. You need to learn how to speak to people with respect regardless of their age. You weren't much better in the way to spoke to customers. Total disgrace and I will never eat here again

Ordered a chicken chow-mein and prawn toast takeaway from the Paramount. I opened the packaging and straight away noted the chowmein had no vegetables .Also found noodles that were either uncooked or burnt. All tasteless/ disgusting and a cost of £ 6.50. Prawn toast was also disgusting, soggy and no prawn in sight at a cost of £ 5.50. Really disappointed and even the seagulls wouldn't eat it ( what does that say?) Very disappointed as I would love to support local businesses. Pulling a positive staff were very friendly.

Always had a lovely meal in the Paramount. Staff are really friendly and food is always delicious. I would recommend you to anyone looking for good quality food.

Opened almost 50 years ago by ex local resident of Kowloon, Hong Kong, this establishment has been for decades, serving hungry Blackpool residents with some more exotic dishes than fish & chips, no salt and vinegar on this table! Don’t even mention ketchup !! Crispy duck did I hear you say? ‘That was tasty’ said my dad and I couldn’t agree more… 2nd round please. Mains followed and this was nice and spicy, let’s wash that down with an ice cold Tsingtao beer. Still hungry? They deep fry some bananas for you! What more could you want? This place is awesome… just needs some modern day Honk Kong excitement to reignite the passion from the early days! I’ll be back.. support these guys, you won’t be duck-appointed… 35£ for 2. It’s great food, friendly service just needs some extra spice to make it a highlight of highfield road. I’d love to see this place packed and Hong Kong light display every night at opening time blasting down the street ( or inside would do). Xièxiè

Quite dark inside, we chose vegetable spring rolls to start, shumai followed by crispy chicken which I found very salty, and prawns in a spicy sauce with ginger

I visited the Paramount Chinese Restaurant on Thursday 16th February 2023 with my lovely wife and sister for the first time. There was a side street 70 steps aways with free parking. The restaurant was nice and cosy and staff were friendly and polite. We had a mixture of spring and duck crispy rolls for starters and they were very tasty. For main we had sweet and sour chicken, chicken curry, peppered pork and egg fried rice followed by 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream each with wavers. All in all a beautiful tasty meal and and will definitely be making another booking soon. My son highly recommended the Paramount Chinese Restaurant to me and he was spot on. Wild Bill Entertainer

Always a great personal service, food excellent cannot fault this place, never had a bad experience in 35 years. Give it a try you will not be so disappointed.. granted a bit dated but you need to see past that.

So nice to be back in my favourite restaurant.Everything was perfectly cooked and presented, thank you Sue and Alan and staff. I had my favourite Duck in Cointreau sauce with Fried Rice and it could not have been better. Can't wait until next time.

Lived in blackpool 30 years my husband has lived here his entire 58 years we try to stay loyal support local business from shops , butches, clothes shops, delis, pubs and takeaways went to paramount this afternoon to be greeted by the rudest staff ever, stroppy and want of aa better word arsy . Now considering this place relies on locals to keep it going cos it hasn't changed its decor in 30 + years don't you think they might be nicer to people?????????

We walked 20 minutes from our hotel in Blackpool after reading reviews. Best Chinese I have ever had and the lady serving us was so polite and kind. Inside the family run restaurant is beautifully designed. Will definitely be back next time we are in Blackpool.

We had this restaurant recommended to us by locals, so we had to give it a try. So glad we did. The owner greeted us like regulars, we were each given a free glass of prosecco to celebrate the jubilee, the food was delicious and cooked to perfection. Was given plenty of time between dishes no rushing here! We will most definitely return and recommend this gem.

We visited this restaurant on Saturday night. It was very busy and the lady waitress kept saying she was sorry to keep us waiting but to be honest it wasn’t a huge amount of time. The food was fantastic. Basic decor but that didn’t matter as the food more than made up for it. Reasonably priced too. Will defo go back and recommend to others.

First visit to the paramount and we were not disappointed lovely warm welcoming staff felt at home straight away food was excellent tasty and delicious we will definitely be back soon

Amazing from start to finish ! Came to Blackpool for the school October week. Old school Chinese restaurant with lanterns & music Sue & staff was truly fab , Food epic...!! Especially the duck rolls & dumplings , made to feel very comfortable and welcome we'll be back in a few months all the way from Glasgow !

We had a takeaway from the Paramount recently and in all honesty it was spot on. The Duck in plum sauce was sublime ! even the fried rice is worth a mention ! You will not get a better Chinese takeaway anywhere else. Do not let any negative reviews put you off

Day trip to blackpool. Randomly stumbled on this restaurant. Owner was apologetic as the chef had injured knee which was slowing up time for food. The food was amazing, full of flavour, my kids hadn't ever tasted chinese this good and were still talking about it a week later. To top it all we didn't wait too long and price was very reasonable. Unlikely to go again as Blackpool as a whole is a once only experience but wish our local chinese was this good.

I rarely write reviews especially bad ones, but guys, honestly what's happened? The Paramount was one of my favourite places, the crème de la crème of Chinese in Blackpool and I know Its been a while but surely things didn't have to change this much. Tonight we ordered the worst Chinese meal of our lives and to say that not even I could eat it is testimony of how shocking it was. £33.00 in the bin and 3 still hungry people. So for starters we had the ribs (not bad you get 3 ribs in a portion 5/10 because they were a bit cremated but that's being picky ) The chicken lettuce wrap, Im not sure how to describe this (1/10) resembled Dog food, tasted the same served with Romaine Lettuce (a first on me) portion size miniscule around 1 spoon each which didn't matter in the end because it went in the bin. I shouldn't really complain about the portion size because as the lady who answered the phone rightly pointed out starters are suppose to be small. Next the chilly chicken wings, not bad (7/10) but your still gunna need the mains because remember starters are suppose to be small. Chicken and cashew nuts (1/10) tasted like dog meat, inedible landed in the bin. Not sure what happened to the chicken to make it taste so bad and chewy. Chicken and tomato, revolting (1/10) no taste and a crispy shredded beef dish which I will give a 3/10 because we managed to eat some. All in all this was a really shocking experience, please don't think we didn't call up and give you the opportunity to explain because we did. We were told that you don't charge the VAT to your customers and that next time we order the dish you will sort it out. The problem is, if this hasn't put us off Chinese food for life it is incredibly doubtful we will ever order from the Paramount again.

What a great place basic decor but the food is very good I fact one of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve been to in a long time ,Fillet steak dish especially good and the house chow Ming , staff very friendly and as for the Chinese lady that I think runs the place she is such a Legend and funny a restaurant well worth a visit

Without a doubt, one of mine & my partners absolute favourites😍 Sue is always lovely & attentive. Service is always spot on & nothing is too much trouble. Now the food... oh my god. Soo many flavours. My partner always says it's the best beef curry he's ever tasted. (He tells me everytime) I feel the same but about the sweet & sour. The chicken pieces are in crispy batter, so you can tell it's all freshly made. I love that sauce is strong tasting & the fact they put sugar snap peas in. The chef cuts the carrots into stars too which is also another personal favourite. Ha. There is literally so many of my favourite dishes here, the fillet steak in Cantonese sauce is heaven. The fillet will melt in your mouth & the sauce is equally delicious. I've also tried the duck, crispy chilli beef, chilli chips & egg fried rice. Everything is always so tasty & consistent. Gutted I don't have photos to back me up. Can't wait to be back!

Good service. Super slow food.. had to stop my father walking out after waiting over an hour for mains. Food was ok nothing special. Have Eaten chinese all over the world and this was definitely in the bottom 2.

Reviews looked really promising. The taxi driver thought it was closed at first as the front shop lights were not working so we should have took the hint then and gone across the road to the shiny Winstons across the road. The chicken skewers with peanut satay sauce was a let down. The chicken was over cooked and gristly. The sauce was runny and not peanut tasting. One in our party ordered crispy beef, this was more cremated beef. The prawn in green vegetables was flavourless and the prawns tasted old and defrosted. My chicken sweet and sour was the best of a bad bunch. When the meals were being sent back uneaten and the prawns were mentioned to the waitress and no-one was interested. Will not go again and will not recommend to anyone.

We were the only people in this restaurant so we weren't sure about it. But the waitress was pleasant and able to accommodate my food intolerance. Great service! Most Chinese restaurants we tried considered bamboo shoots and water chestnuts vegetables when they say 'vegetables' in any dish. Vegetarians beware! This restaurant however was able to put together a dish that had some fresh vegetables like snow peas and bok choy (though they have different names in England :Pak Coi and Mange-tout). My husband's Chicken Satay wasn't similar to anything he has had before (like in a Thai restaurant) so he was disappointed in the flavors.

My wife and I visited on spec last night having driven past a few times.Oh what a pleasant surprise and culinary delight we encountered.All the staff and Sue (manager) oh so helpful and polite.We both had the house banquet which was absolutely delicious. From the Prawn crackers, to the soup, onto the duck and then 3 main course meals - everything was a delight. Excellent value for money.We will be returning very soon.Thank you allPaul

The decor may be a little tired but you cannot fault the kindness and attentiveness of the staff. It is also pleasing to note that the food is both tasty and plentiful. It is also reasonably priced.

as invited guest it was good to be back at the Paramount and discover same high standard of food we expect there. a set menu at a reasonable price was enjoyed by a few but others went off main menu. no one was disappointed. food did take time because of a kitchen issue which we were pre warned about. we felt sad that the place was not as busy as it could be, but then it would have been maybe a longer wait, which some have mentioned. I feel we can still recommend this old favourite of ours. Highfield road has many eateries these days but the Paramount has probably been there the longest and deserves better patronage.

Its 6 years since I last reviewed the Paramount so high time I did a further review. We've been coming on and off to this restaurant over the past few years and the food has always been good. The place is relatively small and it was a quiet night with only about 20 covers at the time we visited. The staff were very good and there is a good selection of dishes. Service was a little slow, but that's because there isn't a huge kitchen staff and all the food is freshly cook. It's well worth the wait. My favourite dish of our visit was the crispy lamb (I don't normally like lamb) but this was really nice. That's not to say that the entire experience wasn't really good.

We hadn’t been in this restaurant fir a number of years however my husband and I decided to eat here last night. There was only 12 other diners in yet we waited almost 45 minutes for our starter. We ordered duck with pancakes and dim sum which were both awful. The duck was dry and wasn’t shredded properly with lots on bone still in bits of it and the dim sum was just awful. I asked for more pancakes sbd the waitress bought out two more which were hard and not cooked properly. When I called her over to show her she was rude and cheeky to me. After another 30 minutes the main courses came out and they were pitifully poor. So other than the ridiculously bad service we then had the worse Chinese food I’ve ever eaten. Considering the fact that they got such a poor hygiene rating a while back you would think it was important to serve good food and deliver excellent customer service but clearly not. Avoid like the plague people!

My husband and I dine at the Paramount Chinese Restaurant quite frequently and our booking for my birthday was exactly what we expected. Catering for a table of 11, including children of 4 & 8, there was nothing the whole staff wouldn’t do for us. From the start Sue and front of house team were very attentive. Alan and his catering staff produced fabulous hot and tasty meals. Truly a delightful evening had by all.

Not sure what to expect, took 15 minutes to walk from the Hampton by Hilton hotel, but we were not disappointed. Great food and service. We were both looked after very well. Well worth the walk. We will be back.

Stopped here after a day out in Blackpool. It was a really nice meal and reasonably priced. The hostess was brilliant, joking with us all night. Very tasty meals, Could not fault anything. Would definitely go again when in the area and recommend to anyone.

We visited early Friday night. The restaurant was very quiet. The staff were polite and welcoming. We decided to go from the two course menu which was £12. each. The food arrived quickly was plentiful and delicious. Definitely go again.

Attended at Paramount during a family holiday in Blackpool and wasn’t hopeful when it was empty when we walked in however we were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was and the service from the staff was exceptional.

While out on a Saturday evening with no idea what we wanted to eat we decided on Chinese but our local restaurant was closed so we had a ride around and saw the Paramount on Highfield road, it dose not look the most inviting place in the world but we went in any way the inside is better than the outside a bit dated but clean the staff ate friendly and we were seated quite quickly ordered the special set meal for two what a surprise every thing was well presented and enjoyable not over priced, like it and will be back

We tried this local Chinese for the first time at the weekend. We both picked from the specials menu and really enjoyed our meals. The spicy beef was delish. The staff were lovely and we will be back in the future.

Bright and open decor on the edge of town - quick service and good pricing - the banquet options gve a good range of foods including a corn chowder starter and the very good crispy duck which has a good sauce and salad fillers - "serve yourself" is fun too..

Enjoyed a very good meal here some months ago and have been meaning to return and do a review. The Cantonese sizzling fillet steak was honestly the best I have tasted, not too sweet as many restaurants do, just right. Decor is a little tired but this didnt bother us

Found this little hidden gem on recommendation from our hotel. Absolutely amazing food and Sue is such a lovely lady! Best Chinese food either of us has had. Definitely worth a visit and we will return.

N 1 in Blackpool area. All ways had a superbe meal with impecibile service. I have known Sue and Alan for over 20 years of providing consistantly a vast and highly varied menue of food to suit most palets. Highly recomended, need to make a reservationn

Found this in TA as staying in the area. Do a special deal menu on some nights up to 7.30pm. Good value. Had the salt n chilli wings and fillet steak (2.50 supplement) curry. Do some desserts for £2.50 extra too. Service was first class...

Fabulous food, wonderful service and great staff. The special steamed garlic prawns are the best I have ever had. The paramount pork is tremendous. Would highly recommend eating here

One of the best Chinese restaurants in Blackpool If not the best

Excellent early bird menu that changes each month. The crispy duck pancakes are the best I have ever had, and the noodle and stir fry dishes all have an authentic taste

Really good food and waitress is really funny

We looked on the website and saw the restaurant was open until 11. We booked a taxi which cost £5. The restaurant advised they don't serve tables after 9. It was 9.20. Obviously they don't need your business if they can turn away 5 paying customers. Would not recommend to anyone. We wouldn't give any stars but had to select one or else the review couldn't be submitted.
