Paradise Romford in Havering

This is real soul food (halal too)! The curry goat was exceptionally tender, with a really tasty (ever-so-slightly south asian) flavour. The boneless jerk chicken was both juicy and succulent, perfectly spiced, paired really beautifully with crispy caramelised plantain on a bed of rice and peas. As this was my first time trying Caribbean food the key question would be "would I order again?" and the answer is absolutely yes. Undoubtedly.

First time trying here and ordered a takeaway. Everything was packed very well. Food was very good, tasted fresh & amazing flavours. Only negative point is the customer service which was terrible.

The place was recommended to me, and it didn't disappoint. The food was on point, the potion sizes generous. Most importantly the price was extremely reasonable as well, and the service was good too...

Waited 2 hours for food that never arrived..this was for a special needs person too that kept asking when his dinner was coming! 10pm at night he was still without food DISGRACEFUL and then blaming just eat! Not a care or shread of compassion from Marlene when challenged over this instead was met with aggression, lies and formality! Good way too loose custom I'd say. Bit of advice Marlene...take a customer care course as it's something you are badly lacking! RUDE and OBNOXIOUS would best describe you and you would be better suited to cleaning the tables and not answering the phone to customers, rather than talking over and at someone you should try listening instead and showing some empathy, it goes along way! Will never give this shop another penny!

Me and my friends came here yesterday for two of our 16th birthday party. To be honest, as an African, I was terrified of trying the food as I've never tried Caribbean food before but I was blown away! Honestly, the oxtail was so succulent, the plantain was sweet, the jerk chicken was beautiful, the drinks were amazing, the service was quick considering we were a party of 8 and its a small business, and best of all, the prices are cheap! Two of us were Muslims, and their menu is halal, and even has vegan options. We're all broke teens and we didn't have to break the bank to eat well. Thank you Paradise!

Thank goodness authentic carribbean cuisine at its best. Staff were lovely friendly,service with a smile. The ambience in restaurant was welcoming music playing in the back ground lovely decor clean fresh. Defo come back with partner,friends and family. My girlfriend and I came here for the second time together (our first being one of our very first dates, and we’re still here!) and we always love the food. A taste of home away from home so a very convenient spot for quick food especially late at night. Would recommend for a quick fix or food to last you over into leftovers for the next day

I wanted a good Westindian food restaurant to take my friend to . We hadn’t seen each other all year. This restaurant is close to my home . We had to wait a little while to place our drinks and food order . When the Rum punch came it was very good . I could taste the alcohol . The starter of chicken wings came after the mains . The Oxtail , Fry fish , rice and peas came with a delicious coleslaw and salad . The hard food was cooked to perfection as was all the dishes we both had . All the dishes were hot in temperature . Everything tasted authentic . We were both very pleased with what we had chosen . The takeaway was nonstop so I guess why they were slow with the service . Food was excellent. I’m taking another friend to experience it.

I ordered a meal on uber eats at 1758hrs and it arrived at 1915 freezing cold and soggy so had to go straight in the bin,apparently this was due to the driver having multiple drops along the way. I contacted the restaurant directly to complain just to be told " we can't control the drivers and there is nothing we can do ". I have used this restaurant many times in the past with no issues and to be honest I expected better customer service but nothing I might as well of chucked my money down the toilet. I won't be ordering from them again

Been to this restaurant about five times now and will keep coming back. So happy I found this gem of a Caribbean restaurant. The flavors are spot on, you can taste the authentic Caribbean spices from the jerk chicken to the curry goat and my personal favourite, the oxtail. Every dish is cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. The portions are generous. The staff are friendly and attentive, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere from the moment you walk in. Paradise is also family-friendly, which is a huge bonus! My kids love the menu and we always leave with full stomachs and big smiles. If you’re craving genuine Caribbean flavors in a relaxed setting, Paradise is the place to be. Would Highly recommend you visit.

Went over there to place an order, was told to go online & place an order, I went next door. I am a happy customer of next door, not coming back again. Pathetic place.

I place an order but had to cancel this order so i called the restaurant to cancel the order and also ask about my refund. The staff at the restaurant told me the order is cancelled but refund will be done automatic to my account since they have not started the preparation yet. I waited for 2 days but no refund so i made a complain to uber who told me i cant get a refund before i waited for more than 48hours. This is unfair and want my refund or my food. I will not understand this due to an unfavourable advise from the staff regarding my refund. Also why was my discount not applied to the amount since the amount was more than £15. I want my refund and will fight till i get my refund. I have never tasted the food before but with this kind of service i will not like to patronise this food any time soon.

I recently had a takeaway, the food was absolutely delicious. I will most definitely try other dishes on the menu.

Decided to order oxtail with rice and peas. With the other meal being a curry goat and white rice with an festival. The cost was quite expensive. The order arrived wrong with both meals being delivered with rice and peas. There was 8 small pieces of curry goat with more bone to meat ratio. The rice and peas for both meals were lumpy. What was worrying there was so much rice and peas in each meal. The taste of the curry goat was non existent. The oxtail was also tasteless. This was not an good example of caribbean food.

My my. What flavoursome food served by happy people. What a treat to stumble upon this fine establishment at Taste of Caribbean festival in Wimbledon. We ordered wings and boneless jerk chicken. Some plantain and dumplings. All superb. So much jerk sauce on all the chicken. Had everyone in our group salivating and envious of our choice of food outlet. Genuinely best jerk chicken I’ve had in London. Keep up the good tings!

The Most Amazing & Authentic Jamaican Spot in Essex

Food was delicious, best oxtail I’ve hade in a while

Family group of 12 for dinner. Due to the size of the group the restaurant suggested pre ordering set meals which we did (as unfortunately other caribean places I've tried tend to run out if things or wait time for it is long). The welcome and service by Marlene was excellent. I have had to give 4* as despite pre ordering some of our meals that were as pre ordered took a long time to arrive and all at different times so it didn't feel like we were dining as a family. However when it arrived it was very good in presentation, portion sizes and taste. I appreciate it is a small place but the in and out of take out delivery drivers took away tge ambiance of what could be a great restaurant. All in all we all enjoyed our visit. Thank you.

The food is actually good once it’s finally served. I had a look at previous reviews to see if people had a very similar experience to our group and it’s a shame to see that in every case they churned out a scripted response that “it is not the standard service” or “they’ll take a look into feedback”. At some point you’d hope that there would be improvements to the service based on feedback given several months ago. It’s a real shame to give this place a 3* as the people were really nice. Unfortunately the wait time for the food was unsatisfactory. We had to wait over an hour half for our food to arrive and it didn’t come all at once. There was a long pause between each person receiving their food which is awkward as you want to eat together, but at the same time you don’t want to allow the dish to go cold and not eat. The poor time management is concerning considering the restaurant was not even busy and they didn’t apologise for the wait. And to add to that half the menu was not available in drinks and food. I think the major issue is then trying to cater for both the restaurant customers and the delivery/takeaway service. I’m not confident they are able to manage both and that area of the business needs further thought so that they can deliver great food in store and takeaway.

I went in the restaurant to order for takeaway, the staff were soo nice, very friendly, helpful and welcoming! Such a nice vibe from them. Food was 10/10, perfect flavour, rice was so nice (I’m fussy with rice) really good portions, good pricing! Great drink choices! 😍 will be back again! Thank you 😄

food was outstanding but slow to arrive. very slow. even when it arrived it was not all at once and most of us finished before others even got their order. also with the constant delivery drivers coming in and out it felt like we were low priority. I recommend if you want to eat here then order delivery.

Not happy at all with this resteraunt had no oxtail no desserts no Guinness punch so disappointing then told my Mum and brother are they ready for the birthday cake I gave them to hold as a surprise. Just didn’t care.

Visited two weeks ago food was amazing, hot fresh and deliciously flavoursome. The only down side was the length of time some from our group waited for their food, arriving as a group we expected to eat at the same time. One from our group was told there wasn't any of what he had originally ordered, right at the end when we had all finished our meals. That was a little disappointing, it would have been better to advise in the first instance what's not available. Hence the four stars, other than that food is fantastic will visit again!

A family member told me about Paradise but I was hesitant as I am often disappointed when I try Caribbean restaurants as nothing normally ever comes close to the home cooked food the I grew up on. Came here on my Sons birthday at the beginning of the month and I have been returning ever since. Amazing food & flavours, fresh food every time. Lovely staff & very reasonable prices, especially in these times. I spread the word at my work place and this has been our Friday lunch for the last 3 weeks & everyone always enjoys.

Very surprised tonight. Called this restaurant and a lovely girl answered I was making an enquiry about adding some festivals to my order, she was so helpful and said I will add that to your order. Called back one and a half hours later to have the phone put down twice pretending they can't hear me once by her and the other by some man. I called my wife incase it was an issue with my phone. No, no problem, am wondering why your acting this way as am local and was my first time and now last placing an order with you. Learn to value your customers I have done nothing wrong i called to enquire where my food is, if your so busy think about turning uber off so your giving your best to other customers. Anyway, there's my review for you all to read.

Food on most days is tasty, I mostly order jerk chicken rice & peas. The soup was disappointing on the day I had it. Hardly any meat or dumplings . It was mostly thin liquid

Food and drink was ok. Staff was nice and friendly. HOWEVER. Very slow. Food came out at different times, up to half hour between mine and my friends main course. I finished my main before 2 of my friends got there food. 3 rum punches ordered. 1 came out and the other 2 came out 20mins later. We booked in advance. Other people came in after us had their food and left before we all got our food. Deliveries going out frequently. I Will maybe give it another chance.....

The food here is unreal. The Curry Goat Special is the one. The value for money is awesome. I will be going back at some point next week 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Just had this delivered and have to say it was absolutely beautiful! Lovely generous portions and full of flavour! Never tried plantain before, I can't believe I've been missing out on it all this time, it's so nice. Will be ordering regularly from here. Thanks for such a lovely meal! The jerk wrap was cramped with an amazing mix of ingredients, especially the sauce. The sweet potato fries were well-cooked to the point where even by the end of my wrap, they barely dropped in temperature. Definitely would come again!!

All dishes were delicious, and portion sizes are very generous for eat-in. I will definitely visit again and recommend it.

I called to reserve a table for Saturday afternoon, we were greeted by a really friendly lady. We had the Pattie and wings for starters and peppered steak, stewed chicken and the ackee and salt fish for mains. All the food was delicious and the portions are very generous. Great food Absolutely full of flavour and the portions were so generous loved it. Cannot fault the food at all. The lady who served us was very friendly had great customer service skills. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because unfortunately service was a little slow as they were very busy with Uber eats orders and there was only one woman taking/serving both online orders and sit in orders.

2nd time I've been to this restaurant. The food is very good,staff are nice and friendly. I've given 3 for service because it is a little slow. But don't be put off. It's well worth the visit.

Honestly overpriced, soggy food

Nice food but very long delay in serving our starters for 5 people. Took over an hour for them to arrive. Waitress asked if we wanted all the food together. No!! The clue is in the word starters!!! Not really a restaurant, more of a take away as Just Eat orders took priority. Would never eat in again but would order online and be prepared for a very long wait for delivery. The food and prices were good but would’ve loved it to have a more Jamaican feel.

In my opinion, quite honestly the best Caribbean in Essex/Romford area. I ordered from them on a whim on UberEats one day and the food came in a timely fashion and it was so delicious. The stuffed dumplings are 10/10 Soon after, my family had a very small get together and we popped over to Paradise and picked up quite a bit of food and the quality was still the same even with such a big order (2 whole jerk chickens, curry goat, oxtail, 3 rices etc) Today I was out with my mum in Romford and we went to order some food (I fancied some chips so added that to the order) then went to The Brewery for about half an hour. We told them we would be back, and when I went to collect the order they said they had waited until we had come back to fry my chips just to ensure that they didn’t get cold. Honestly the best customer service and hands down the best Caribbean food around.

Easily the worst dining experience of my life the service was terrible I had to prompt the staff to initially take out order that’s after 15 mins of walking in to no greeting from the staff and sitting at a dirty table. Whilst waiting for my food all the tables of people who had long left still had plates everywhere rice on the floor and multiple customers complaining that the order was wrong not only this but staff members in the kitchen are having a full blown shouting match cussing out eachother so loud we could all hear them from the floor after waiting well over an hour I was told what I ordered an oxtail meal wasn’t there and was initially offered a dumpling taken off my bill and with everything I wasn’t satisfied and I asked for a manager to come out which the manager refused and said if they don’t want to pay they don’t have to so I left. Establishments need to understand I’m not compensated by not paying as that’s the least you should do following the above but also I came here to spend money so all I want is good service please don’t even reply with an apology because I’d rather not hear it.

We went there about 4 weeks ago. Staff so friendly and accommodating .we had Oxotail jerk wrap barbecue chicken potion size good we also had Sorrel it was nice .l treated myself to a coconut drop which was nice cant wait to go back when am in the area again

Amazing restaurant. I celebrated my Birthday last Saturday at Paradise, the food was amazing, the service was impeccable and we all enjoyed the comfortable atmosphere. This is the best caribbean food I have eaten in a while, with very generous portions. Thank you Paradise for making my birthday a very enjoyable evening.

OMG! I am from the Caribbean(Jamaica)and this the best food outside Jamaica. Since my first visit I have visited every weekend and not to mention Uber eats. Taste 1class, value for money…top notch. There’s a bit of wait but that’s just the thing with food worth waiting for.

Rice and peas and oxtail: succulent, rich, tasty, delicious! Cooked to perfection!!!! Loved the food containers and will re-use them. I will be ordering again.

Visited this venue for a friend's bday. The food was really nice and really good portion sizes. Service was slow but friendly. Food presentation could be improved. Atmosphere could do with some music, no visible speakers and venue could also do with some pictures etc to make it more comfortable for dining. The toilet area definitely needs some tlc too.

Paradise doesn't disappoint. My jerk chicken was a masterpiece – tender, juicy, and infused with that perfect blend of smoky spices. Each bite was a burst of island heat, balanced beautifully by the sweet plantains and creamy coleslaw

Authentic, well-prepared, delicious caribbean food. The staff are friendly and helpful and I've had the pleasure of eating in the restaurant and ordering takeaway in-person. For my mother's 85th we pre-ordered a range of food from the menu (fried bakes, oxtail, curried goat, curried chicken, jerk chicken, rice & peas, patties and rum cake). Very tasty. Food was inedible burnt oxtail rice and peas pot bottom. Stew peas just water no produce at all not even dumping. Staff not aware what rice they use. I’m in the hospital and when I complained they asked for a photo of the bad food which of course they knew that the food should never have been served not even my pets would have eaten that. I binned it and refused any other food keep the money. You should never have sent that out in the 1st place. Appalling service.

Ordered for the first time from here and the food was amazing not many Caribbean restaurants living up to the standards and the portions are a very good size will definitely be ordering often thank you for such tasteful food 😊 will definitely dine in at some point

Got this delivered via Just Eat. A good meal, if not the best I've ever had. Not salty as Taste of Jamaica but not as nice or as big a portion as 7even, this was a good meal with plentiful pieces of chicken (besides the fried dumpling when I requested baked) but please use boneless meat (same to the other Caribbean establishments!). I nearly swallowed some small bones. Not a fan of coleslaw and wish they did steamed veg like 7even and Taste of Jamaica do. Two cucumber slices, small diced sweet peppers, one slice of tomato on top of some coleslaw in a small pot isn't substantial enough.

Takeaway Review: I have now ordered 4 times since opening and it has been consistently good! I have had the jerk chicken, vegan & ackee and saltfish meal all very yummy. The portion are a great size. Plantain and salad with main meal is a bonus. Normally caribbean takeaways do not come with those sides. My only suggestion, would be more gravy with the Escovitch fish and the Jerk Chicken meal.

Visited a few times, and the food is always freshly cooked and very tasty. The only downside is that the food/drink is too sweet at times, and depending on the time you go, it can be very busy and so it takes a while between ordering your food and getting served. Would be nice to have some nibbles while waiting.

From the service down to food, my experience was great. I highly recommend this place. I managed to preorder, and the food came out shortly after I arrived. The hosts had a warm welcome for us, and the taste and presentation were on point. I will be going back.

My wife and I were invited by close friends to try this fairly new restaurant, and we were all very impressed. Great atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, very we'll presented and delicious food. I would highly recommend this restaurant. The menu is very enticing, and the food is very well presented as well as delicious and very reasonably priced. I will definitely go there again.
