Papayathai in Derby

Absolutely gorgeous food and great service. My husband has eaten jungle curry at several Thai restaurants over the years and he rated this as one of the best he's had! My red Thai curry was beautiful too. Highly recommend.

Food was very good, service was painfully slow, was offered a 10% discount for our next meal due to the slow service of the food on a Saturday night, however noticed that they still added a 10% service charge to the bill which unfortunately we had paid by the time we noticed. Should we have noticed the service charge we would have asked not to pay it as was not merited due to the frustratingly slow service. Having watched the takeaways coming out to be delivered, I wonder if we had ordered a takeaway we would have been served more quickly. On the basis of the quality of the food I would return, but due to the slow service I would not on a busy night i.e. Friday or Saturday.

Visited for the first time and had lunch. It was fantastic and great value. 2 course at lunch just £12.00 Friendly staff. We be back soon

We wished to dine at the last minute, we all fancied Thai food, we googled and came across this hidden gem! Authentic Thai with Thai owners and staff, very attentive and great fresh thai dishes, I want to wish you well and I wish for more people to visit this place, you will be very, very happy you did!! We recently dined at this beautifully decorated restaurant that truly felt authentic. Given it was a Saturday night and knowing its popularity, we booked a table in advance. I think it’s up there as being best Thai restaurant in Derby (albeit in a less than favourable part of Derby!) The menu offered a nice selection, the staff were friendly, and the food was delicious... once it arrived. Unfortunately, the speed of service let the experience down a bit. While we received our starters relatively quickly, it took almost an hour for the main course to arrive. Despite the wait, the ambiance and quality of the food make it worth a visit. Just allow plenty of time!

Really nice food, we had the set menu and everything was really good. We asked for the food spice and its was really spicy and very tasty! If your not ready for spice dont have it thai spicy but the staff did make it clear it would be spicy. The tamarind duck was exceptional. Def go back, they do add a service charge of 10% to your bill but i would have tipped them anyway, the staff were great. We couldnt finish the food and the staff had no issues putting it in a takeaway tub
