Barbecue Xpress in Derby

The food is nice, don't get me wrong, but the delivery times are just so long... 1.5 hours - 2 hours wait most of the time. Which sort of just makes you think it's not worth the time it takes... plus your paying for delivery? Really need to sort the timings out cause it's just to long!

Very good food and very good service

Genuinely one of the worst takeaway meals I’ve ever had. I feel sorry for my partner for spending money on it. Lamb was cremated to the point I need surgery on my jaw after trying to chew it. Chicken bland and with mismatched sauces. Seemed like half was BBQ and half was peri but they’re wasn’t enough seasoning on any of it. Veg was frozen packs you get from Asda. Chips rock hard. Apparently was good years ago but HORRIFIC now. Avoid like the plague. Note to restaurant- please get a new chef.

BBQ Express on Normanton Road serves an amazing Zinger Burger Meal—crispy, spicy, and full of flavor! The fries were hot, the portion was generous, and the service was fast and friendly. Great value for money! Highly recommend!

WHAT A LAMB CURRY!!! I recommend the lamb curry and biryani absolutely beautiful, can’t be faulted at all, what a place…. What a takeaway! Thank you guys we’ll be back again I’ve never had a bad takeaway from here

Came down to derby this evening to barbecue xpress and tried the family platter alot of variety from kebabs to charcoal chicken. Freshly made and was very tasty

Really not sure where to start.. first off was over 45 / 60mins late. Rang the restaurant and the staff quite blunt. That aside we awaited as we understood deliveries can be late now and again. Had the mixed platter for 2 and it was terrible...

Absolutely awful! Over 1 hour late which I understand that sometimes things get busy. I rang just to check and was answered by unprofessional and rude staff.. " will be there when we have finished cooking it WOW!! MIXED PLATTER FOR 2 - no taste at all, the kofte meat was uncooked, raw in the middle & lamb chops were dry. the rest was just as bad... I have no clue why the mint sauce tasted like dental mouth wash but it really did. Gutted after nearly a £40 order and will not be ordering again.

Delicious hot fresh food- good value

I wasn’t feeling well and the driver came up five floors to my flat door rather than meeting me downstairs which most couriers do that extra step meant the world and as always the food was lovely!

The absolute worst takeaway experience ever. The staff is utterly unprofessional, and their response to complaints is nothing but excuses and nonsense. We were loyal, regular customers, but today was the final straw. After sending us the wrong order for what feels like the 500th time, they’ve officially lost a dedicated customer. Rubbish service, appalling professionalism, and a complete disregard for customer satisfaction. Avoid at all costs!

I made my order at 8:40 Was told it would be here at 9:43 at 9:55 I made a call and asked where my food was he was saying all these street names I said no He said give us 15 minutes Why isn’t it cooked and here ? Called back after 20 mins and was told its will be with you any second Another few minutes my food arrives Stone Cold Paid for a extra sauce Didn’t get it Paid for a bottle of Fanta they gave me two cans The food is to cold and iv chucked it in the bin Want be eating ordering from here again ! I told the driver the food was cold and I want my money you can take the food and he just drove off I don’t get how it came so late and so could Iive just around the corner like 1 street away

I order here every time I can’t be bothered to cook and honestly the Biriyani is the closest thing I’ve had to my granddads! And the portions? My God you can eat for 2 days with it

I have ate from this place before and it was 10/10 but this tome Chicken was undercooked i almost throw up put it in the bin

I wrote a special note about not adding sauces to my order but was ignored.

I Ordered grilled Chicken to go with my left over pilau rice, I waited 2 hours for it, finally decided to defrost some meat and make grilled at home, I called them to chase the order up, the person didn't speak English, then he said 5 minutes, it had been 3 hrs now and the chicken hasn't arrived. I wished I hadn't pay online because would have cancelled the order. Unacceptable you pay for food and delivery and they don't deliver the food on time .

i waited 11/2 hours for the order which is unacceptable. food was cold my son went to work without food this is the last time i order from here.

Took over hour and half to come rang up was no help atall just said yeh ok first time ordering and last time won’t be going back

I’ve been coming here for years - well before the shop was revamped and the food is really good but I recently learned that they have a Food Hygiene Rating of 1. There’s no excuse for poor hygiene in a takeaway and I won’t be returning until it’s above 4.

Ordered chicken sizzler kebab, and chops. Was absolutely amazing. Proper fresh and tasty. Will be the only place I come now. 😁

Ordered for collection, text recieved to collect arrived 10mins late told I'll have to wait 10mins as food is still cooking, waited for 30 mins before I got the food Even then it was the wrong order and minimal portion with too much salt to the point it was inedible. Never coming here again.

Ordered a chicken shawarma and a simple milk tea. Shawarma was OK and the tea was the worst. It was too milky, almost no sugar and no taste of tea whatsoever. I didn’t expect someone could screw up a tea that bad

I finally found the place in Derby where the chicken and lamb chops are grilled with Portuguese season. The meat is grilled to perfection. This is without doubt my reference point for where to eat or takeaway.

Ordered after a long time there food use to be nice but this time we ordered was horrible the burgers were burnt chips were also burnt and the people didnt even know how to take the order had to repeat like 5 times

Use to be the best kabab in Derby, but not any more, in my opinion! Not recommended at all.

Don't go to this place. Its a wast of time ..I made my order @9pm online collection time gave me 9.20 pm went there ask another 5 minutes and I wait till 9.50 still not available so I cancelled the order at 9.50pm 😡😡😡

Food came and was disappointed wasn’t warm was disappointed with how much came and the flavour also it was marked as delivered but wasn’t delivered till over half an hour after the delivery time which isn’t right shouldn’t be marked as delivered till you receive your food and then comes and it’s not very good

Regular customer, won’t be ordering again. Chicken biryani had 2 pieces of chicken and 16 yes you read that correctly 16 potatoes (new potatoes possibly tinned) in my lamb curry. The roti looked nice though.

Food was 10/10 couldn't fault it. Delivery was late and checked the order and it said it had been delivered (obviously hadn't) went through help options and received a message immediately apologising and was given an ETA which it arrived precisely at that time so can't fault them really. Don't let the delivery put you off though because the food is great!

This place is fine for a no frills meal. Not the most inviting to be in but staff were courteous and food made to order in normal time. Would go again to feed myself but if I wanted to treat someone, I would go somewhere else.

I was given lamb curry (which I don't like) rather than chicken curry, and by the time I'd realised I was unable to leave the house to pick up. A replacement. I was through the Just Eat refund procedure but I've heard nothing back.

Wings over cooked dry,fries greasy, asked for pitta bread but got naan instead and I hate naan bread kebab not all that.

The food was way too sweet and saucy and was not fresh at all. Extremely disappointed.

Good for Barbecued Chicken and chips, atmosphere is OK but could due with a better extractor fan, tends to get a bit smoky. Toilets were missing a seat which means women can't use them.

The food was burnt i got told these were food food ect... Soni decides to try it out my lamb chops come burnt the chips were that over cooked they was solid

The chips were luke warm at best, the half chicken was little more than a quarter and it all came with carrots, lettuce so a bit soggy with the excess water. Kebab wasn't great either. Won't be buying again.

Ordered online several times now. Order has arrived in a timely fashion and piping hot Plenty of variety of food, I heavily recommend the cheese burger, its got a wonderful melt in your mouth feel Parking can be tricky if you're dining in, there is on the road parking but can get busy at times Staff there are polite and courteous and never had a problem with orders or food

I believe it was the first time I ordered from this place and the food was awful. I have tried curries and biryanis from soo many places and they are very basic, this place was no exception. I got poorly soon after having the biryani and seekh kebabs and still recovering. Very very disappointed as it was a large order. Money wasted:(

Tasty made kebabs with fresh naan and salad. Home made chilli sauce and mint yogurt is delicious. Quick service and comfortable well decorated diner.

Ordered a bolognaise chicken parmo…..nothing of the sort came doner meat and a spicy sauce on it not the usual bolognaise chicken parmo!

I ordered a item by mistake and then cancelled was told to get a refund from Just Eat.
