The experience at Papa John's Stroud, was like non other. The warm glow of the LED lighting as you pass, the exciting aroma of the air impingement ovens working hard, the modern-day décor perched just over the dinette. As you arrive, you are greeted with a warm, refreshing welcome from the front of house team. Straight away you will notice the delicate, yet modern à la carte menu set out before you, The authentic dough still proofing in the foreground. On special days they offer a set tasting menu named "two for Tuesday" which is strictly for walk-ins only. This venue is definitely not one to miss. This venue will most definitely be found in the Michelin guide book in the coming months, rosettes or more await this proud establishment. Note there is no valet parking,. At only £30 a pizza I would highly recommend to anyone. Postscript: This review was left solely for a free Pepsi lol.

Ordered two pizzas, I’m a veggie. Veggie pizza was loaded with bacon. Do you think we could contact the Stroud store and ask for a veggie pizza- NO. We rang for 40 minutes and if the phone didn’t ring out, the call would hang up. DON’T ORDER! Save your money!

Pizza took over an hour and 15 to arrive, was cold when it got here. App said it was delivered when it wasn’t so Tried ringing numerous times and they just kept hang up.

We ordered our Pizza's 2 pepperoni at 21:51 (simplest order possible) an hour goes by so we call to ask where abouts the pizza is around half an hour later now 23:35 it has been delievered... this order has messed up my trust in papa johns and we will more than likely never order from them again they never even apologised for the cold pizza's just handed them to us then walkes away as fast as they could.

I ordered delivery for a gathering at 6pm, scheduled in advance, but it was delivered less than 40 minutes later, at 3 in the afternoon. I explained this mistake to the driver, who called his manager, but the manager refused to take the pizzas back, or offer any kind of compensation. It's obvious that they just don't care - they already had my money, and didn't want to have to try and fit my order in during the busy hours. Who wants three hour old cold pizza?! This isn't even the first time they've done this, but they've never been HOURS early before. They have also overcharged in the past, and again refused to do anything about it. Do not eat here; the pizzas are fine but the management is atrocious! Update: I messaged the owner with the long list of details they requested, and they never responded at all. Pathetic.

Ordered from here the other week, wrong side was put in the box, haad to wait ten minutes for the food despite the app saying it was ready for collection, pizza wasn't cooked enough, meanwhile only two of the staff were working while the other three were more interested standing around playing on their phones If that wasn't bad enough, when I made a complaint using the online form I was told they couldn't do anything about it because I hadn't rang the store directly Really cannot recommend this place to anyone

I am going down in the morning as ordered from Just eat and never turned up. Said that they delivered absolute lie I have been in all night. Taken money from my account.

Ordered from Just eat. Took over £20 from my account but never arrived. Tried phoning several times but no answer. Claim delivered but not as in all night.

This is a great place if you live south of Stroud and don't get Domino's delivery. 1st time I used it, no real complaints apart from time to deliver from shop. The second time, I was surprised that the delivery guy would not enter the pub where we had ordered it for. Think it might of been a religious thing. The food was flavoursome but tepid at best cold at worst. I caught a bus from Stroud to Nailsworth(20 mins) that was quicker than the delivery(35 mins) The garlic pizza sticks came as a pizza. I will use them again, but, there is a lot of room for improvement, most of all delivery times. Edit. 20 mins to cut and check a pizza? Methinks the pizza was made and no driver available. No wonder then that yet again that the food that arrived was very tasty but cold. The tater tots were mostly just mush. Very disappointed.

We collected, so didn't have the problems other reviewers have had, but it just wasn't very enjoyable to eat. The base was ok, but considering what we paid the toppings were really poor. The toppings were just in the central area, and most of the actual pizza area was just a huge extension on the crust. One of our extra paid toppings was cheese, and we just couldnt find any! How can you enjoy a pizza completely dry of cheese? It was miserable and certainly not the family treat we were hoping for. Really poor value.

Absolutely shocking service absolutely no idea what they’re doing trying to get our order delivered…. Put the phone down on my son and misses they can’t understand what we are saying SHOCKING WILL NEVER USE AGAIN

Food is great but everything is let down by the delivery service. I recently had to order for collection (I'm assuming they had no delivery drivers that night because I wasn't able to order delivery) and it was hot and tasty and ready within 15 minutes. I've ordered many times for delivery before this and it's always been late despite ordering hours ahead of time, the first two times it didn't even turn up. It was always a different delivery driver and it is clear that the store is dealing with a severe shortage of delivery drivers. They also forget the extra dip I paid for almost every time. Most of the reviews are bad and they're about late delivery and it's a shame because the food is good, but the delivery service is terribly unreliable. I would order again tonight but I don't want to go through the stress of wondering when my food will arrive (only for it to arrive cold and missing items). I hope they can improve their delivery staffing levels otherwise I don't see how this store can survive. They must be struggling because they always have crazy deals available, like 60% off.

Ordered at 5:22pm and still no pizza at 7:03pm. When I phoned I was told it was because of “too many orders and a shortage of drivers”. No courtesy call, no apologies. Will not be ordering from this branch again.

What a disgrace. You have one job. Make pizza and deliver it. If you are not able to deliver it, don’t offer delivery as an option. Ordered several times from here. Pizza always arrives cold and late. I ordered double topping and hot a small sprinkling of a few pieces. Do not recommend. Avoid at all cost.

Ordered a large ham and pineapple pizza which arrived fairly quickly to be fair but the pizza had about 6 small pineapple chunks with no ham. Won't be ordering from here again

I placed my order and tracked it through their website. They cooked it fast but then it stayed on that section for almost 2 hours so I called the store and they said they only had one delivery driver and could I come and pick it up as it was ready. The order included chicken, chicken enters a ‘danger zone’ in under two hours at being kept at room temp so I said I would not accept this food as I did not want to get food poisoning and I would like a refund. The woman on the phone was pretty rude and said I had to go on the website to sort the refund out as they could not do that from the store. I went on the website and requested a refund but have had no response. They’ve essentially stolen my money. Would not recommend as they seem to not care about customer service or food hygiene.

I have never had a worse experience than what I have had with the Stroud Papa Johns. We ordered our food, and kept an eye on the updates. It was still at Papa Johns 1 and a half hours after being prepared. We called the store, and was met by an extremely arrogant female employee. We asked for an update on our food, and she said that they had no drivers. We wouldn’t have minded going to pick it up if they had called us soon after being prepared. But our order was left sat on the side getting cold for the entire time until we called up. Then when trying to come to an agreement with the miserable lady, the employee got fed up and just hung up the phone on us! We had no idea what to do, as we didn’t know whether to go in- or if our food was binned- or if they were just going to send over a refund. We decided to go in, and we picked up our now cold and congealed pizza, and it was absolutely vile. After all that, all we received was a Ben and Jerrys ice cream- not even a sorry for outrageous and rude employees! Never again!

We’ve ordered from Papa Johns a few times and it’s always been ok although more often than not the driver doesn’t bring the dip we paid for, however after today I don’t think we will risk ordering again. Placed an order at 11:20 for ASAP delivery (it was displaying as delivering orders for 12:15 at that time so I assumed it’d come at least before then). Just under an hour later the pizza tracking still hadn’t been updated from the ‘preparing’ stage, so I called them to see what was going on. The staff member told me they had an issue with their drivers and they wouldn’t be able to deliver it - I’ve got no idea why they wouldn’t call much sooner if they were having problems. They asked me to collect it instead which I couldn’t do, and did offer a free pizza, but I requested a refund which I’m now waiting for.

Absolute shambles do not order ruined our nye dinner. Ordered online, pizza never came after 1hr so called to be told they can’t deliver the food we ordered so said they would cancel.. they didnt cancel and 3hrs later the delivery driver calls to say he is nearby. By this time we had eating something else and asked him to take it back. Communication a shambles i want my money back.

Although a small shop with little space to wait, they quickly get your order, so waiting is minimal

Ordered online at 2:25pm in the afternoon - two phone calls later the food eventually turned up at 4:30! Needless to say, it was stone cold - the driver offered a replacement, but an hour later I called again only to be told nothing was being prepared. Being told that refunds have to be processed online by the head office, I reluctantly accepted a further delayed replacement order. Another two calls later I was promised a personal delivery by the store’s manager by 7:30pm. Guess what? It’s now 8pm and nothing has arrived. Totally shambolic attitude to customers and their hard-earned cash. Do NOT use this outlet.

Good pizza, just there always seems to be a bit of confusion when u turn up to collect.

Pre ordered pizza for over an hours time. Did not arrive at time it was ordered for. Phoned to complain order was late. They stated driver was 3 minutes away. 10 minutes later still not arrived. Wouldn’t do anything over the phone and said to come collect a free pizza. I ordered as had an operation and had kids to feed. They hung up the phone eventually without sorting anything or offering so much as a discount. Not the first time pizza didn’t arrive at the specified time. Very bad service and very bad practice to hang up on a customer So Pappa Johns have replied to this review and told me to email them. Well two weeks later and I am still waiting for a reply from them. Clearly not interested in sorting something out. I emailed again and still haven’t received a response. Absolutely no customer service from these people

I am still waiting for my order an hour and a half after ordering. The App says my order has been delivered. I have called the store to which it took 3 minutes for them to answer. Before I could talk they told me 'it's on it's way' and hung up. I have tried calling again with no answer. I genuinely don't understand how this store continues to operate. I can't even find out how to get a refund as they wont answer and I cannot go to the store as I am working. Incredibly frustrating

An hour late. I felt sorry for the delivery driver, the address they'd been given was in Ebley and I'm in Stonehouse. The food was tasty and a little cold bit not too bad. Please don't blame the drivers blame management.

Over 2 hours late being delivered and once it finally arrived it was all stone cold. One of the pizzas was missing toppings. Having to reheat a take away as soon as it’s delivered is just a joke. Was also annoyed that when I rang the store I was told it was out for delivery. Over an hour later I rang again to find out why it still hadn’t been deliver to be told it was just picked up. No sympathy from the guy on the phone either didn’t seem to care if been waiting for such a long time. Refund request was put in but has so far been ignored. (this was Monday night so not even a busy night)

Absolutely awful service. 2 hours late after being delayed once already by 40+ minutes. Food stone cold when it finally turned up. Toppings missing off of some of the pizzas. Avoid at all costs. There are much better pizza places in Stroud that deliver and have never had these issues.

ordered a delivery at 6pm & did'nt arrive until 9pm !!! best bit is they even tried to deliver my neighbours food which was also late to my address at around 8pm with no apology just said would come back with mine but still had 2 call to chase up & was told if I want to complain/refund do it from website etc . absolute shambles & they finally decided to deliver my food stone cold never experienced anything like it or such inpolite customer service ! The online services and response to phone call is nothing but horrific! No tracking form the apps, no answer form the phones calls and no attempt to correct any of it services failures! My advice to any one in the Stroud and 5 valleys is to avoid this pizza shop like the biblical plague!! not worth your good money. will not be buying form them again

Pizzas did not arrive for over an hour and I spent the next 30 mins calling the store to find out where it was, the app at this point had said it's been delivered. I then had a friend come watch my daughters so i could drive to the store and see whats happening, I was told in broken english it was on the way and offered no apology or compensation. I was also told that the phone doesn't work so don't bother calling. I was stared at by the lemmings making dough behind the counter threateningly which was clearly very professional and said I would wait in the store till my pizza arrived. Now at the "2 hour" mark I got a message from my friend saying it had arrived, as I left someone shouted "sorry mate". Once again very professional! Finally got home and the pizza was obviously cold and also my order for the dips was missing..... By all means use Papa Johns as up to this point it has been fine, now having an issue with them i have learned that there is no way of it being dealt with unless going to the store and even then you wont find someone who speaks english and they just don't care. There's plenty of other decent places in Stroud to get pizza from and I suggest you choose one of them instead, I will not be using them again.

I can't comment on delivery or experience working there, but the pizzas are good and made on time if you collect it. Edit: Recently I've noticed the comments made from other reviewers. I went there recently to find there was only 1 employee working the entire branch! There were prepared pizzas on the side ready to put in the oven, looked like a mess. No wonder the delivery's are delayed! I would probably recommend ordering from somewhere else if you want your order deliverer anytime soon.

Took over an hour and a half for the pizza to arrive and it arrived slightly warm but mostly cold. Delivery driver was lovely and apologetic but very poor service otherwise.

I recently visited Papa Joe's Pizza with high hopes after seeing their signs advertising available job opportunities. Excited about the prospect of joining their team, I approached the manager to inquire about the job openings. However, my experience left me feeling disheartened and disrespected. Upon expressing my interest in a job, the manager's attitude towards me was extremely unwelcoming. Their disapproving look and dismissive demeanor made me feel like I was being judged as if I were somehow lesser. The lack of respect and rudeness displayed during our interaction was truly disappointing and unexpected. As someone genuinely interested in contributing positively to the Papa Joe's Pizza team, I had anticipated a more professional and courteous response. Unfortunately, the manager's behavior contradicted the impression I had of the establishment from the outside. While I can't speak to the quality of the pizza itself, my experience with the management has certainly left a lasting negative impression. As someone who believes in the importance of respectful and fair treatment, I hope that Papa Joe's Pizza takes this feedback constructively and considers fostering a more welcoming environment for potential job seekers in the future. Very disappointed. Ordered from just eat. Delivery time was given as 20:15. It had not arrived by 21:00 and so i called them to ascertain the whereabouts of said pizza. They did not answer the phone. I attempted to call them 6 more times and never received an answer. As it got to 9:45 my wife and i lost hope that the pizza would arrive and thought as it’s a bank holiday, they have shut early but taken our money. With this in mind we ordered dinner from another take away. At 22:00 our Papa Johns Pizza finally arrived, very cold. We will not be using them again.

Rubbish service. No one answers the phone so if you don’t you pizza when promised no one will give a toss. Never going to use them again. Three strikes and I am out mate. And when you get them they ain’t much cop

Placed an order at 9:16 and started trying to call to them an hour later to find out where my food was, the phone rang out 4 times before it was finally answered. The guy that answered the phone was useless, almost unintelligible and seemed annoyed that we’d called. When our food did finally turn up it was cold, dry and disgusting. The delivery driver told us that their other delivery driver had called in sick which seems to be a running theme at this place judging by the other reviews. Definitely won’t be ordering from this place again. Revolting.

Extremely dry pizza. First time I’ve had to add sauce to a pizza as it was that bad. 2.8 out of 10. Wouldn’t recommend.

We waited 2 hours for order, when it arrived it was cold and needed reheating. When calling the shop the phone rang out, nobody answered, seems the staff knew there were some very unhappy customers on the end of the line!

I've ordered from here before, when the store just opened, and the vegan papadia was really nice, with generous fillings, fresh and hot. that was a long time ago. The last two times I have ordered from this store have been absolutely awful. I've learned that is all to be expected from Papa Johns Stroud store , and I won't ever again. The first was a pizza that was dry, bland and felt as if it had been sitting out for a long time. I had a dessert too that was obviously overcooked to the point of being burned. I ordered quite late, about 10.30 pm so perhaps the staff just couldn't be bothered that late on shift. The guy at the counter whom I collected the pizza from was standoffish and unfriendly when I collected. The second time, exactly the same thing. The papadia was awful: dry, lifeless dough with a meagre scattering of dehydrated mushrooms and the smallest amount of vegan cheese anyone could expect. It was also cold. The staff member who I placed the order with first hung up on me while I was trying to place the order, and then seemed quite standoffish when I collected it. Again, this was around 10.30pm. I get it; I work in catering. Orders placed so close to closing time can be annoying. But, when you close at 11pm you can expect to receive orders around 10.30pm. If you can't handle it, close the store earlier! And you still have to have a standard to what you do; it's still a business that is receiving customer's money at the end of the day. The whole point is that you have customers! So why be so resentful that you have to make a pizza at 10.30? And why make them so bad? If it's a case of ingredients shortage, I'd rather be told over the phone that you don't have enough to make a decent pizza instead of being given an awful one. I won't be buying from them again. And (note to the franchise in general) your vegan "special garlic dip" is absolutely rank. It tastes like sweetener-filled melted margarine. Why bother?? How much does vegan mayonnaise cost and would it really cripple your business to make a decent vegan garlic dip?

Avoid. We ordered pizza at 5.30pm for 7.30pm delivery . The app tracker advised pizza was out of the oven 7.06pm. Phoned at 7.40pm as pizza hadn't arrived. Told pizza was just coming out of the oven. Finally arrived at 8.15pm absolutely stone cold. Garlic bread had gone beyond edible as completely hard. Phoned to complain and told to email customer services for refund. One week on no response from customer services. If we could go a no star review. Dreadful pizza and service.

Ordered my food an hour an half ago. When I phoned they said it's only just in the oven? First time customer will never be returning

How anyone can morally create, bake and serve such awful food is truly beyond me. Genuinely on par with the worst pizza and food fullstop I've ever eaten, and I've even eaten some seriously suspect items in my time. Who ever made these recipes should be ashamed and so should anyone who orders more than once.

Ordered food at 17.40, with delivery promised for 18.20 arrived 18.35. - stone cold. Will Never buy again because of attitude of person on the phone

Very poor 👎 - delivery taking ages, we called to ask, told 10-15mins more, pizza marked as ‘delivered’ on online order (it was most certainly not!), called again to ask - the man said ‘you said it had been delivered’ (what?! 😂) ‘no, we asked where it was’. Back and forth and the guy hangs up… now what are our options? WHERES OUR PIZZA PAPA?!

Absolutely shocking. Placed an order at 18.55, started calling at 20.25 to see where it was but no answer. Decided to drive into the store at 21.00 and was told they had a driver short. Fair enough, but have the courtesy to call your customers or at least answer the phone. Was told I'd receive a refund within 5 working days. Contacted 2 weeks later to see where my refund is to be told I have to contact customer services as they aren't able to issue refunds. Customer services said its the franchisees responsibility. Anyway I've had to start a complaints process in order to get my money back for products/services not rendered. Pretty sure that the "refund policy" or lack of, is against consumer law.

No sauce was given for the cauliflower wings and pizza. Chicken wings were so tiny, and they were stingy to put beef on the Mexican pizza. Didn’t have the drink we ordered or second choice of drink (we ordered online). The cauliflower wings just tasted like crispy bread. Not a great first try at papa johns. Gonna stick to dominos.

Last night 01/22 we ordered pizza and drink late at night for it to come cold and with no drinks even though the receipt on the outside of the box you could clearly see Pepsi . So I rang to TRY and explain to who ever was on staff that night and who’s English was not the best..after frustratingly going in circles with this man for I Dnt no how long he slammed the phone down on me..so I rang the next day to explain and a VERY NICE lady answered the phone to which I explained what had happened the night previous and without hesitation she sent us out more than what we had orderd the night before (and our Pepsi 😊) and it came lovely and warm and even looked better . It really dose go to show how better phone manner goes such a long long way and she should be extremely proud of how she treated me on the phone and professionally and kwikly sorted out my problem.i have no issues with foreign workers here doing their jobs but their people skills are zero and they cannot negotiation any problems whatsoever so thank goodness for the lady who I spoke to the next day 02/20 she really made our afternoon and saved us having to cook .maybe the foreign workers could do some sort of course in problem solving so they understand the situation one found himself in with me last night. Iv scored 3 and this was all the polite lady from tonight who got everyone of them stars . If it hadent of bein for the night before it would of bein 4 all the way.so thank you to who ever you were working that Wednesday afternoon on the 2/ 22 because of you we will continue to order . Nice idea, shame about the execution. Ordered at 7pm for delivery at 8pm. Its now 9pm and nothing delivered (they still took our money though). Food is good if you can get it, but in this case nothing! Tried ringing several times, but no one answers the phones! My conclusion: Better off with a supermarket pizza.

2 hours late. When I phoned to check was told they’d gone to wrong address. Which is fine, mistakes happen. When the food arrived the chicken was stone cold and pizza was Luke warm ( was told it had been re-made) when phoned to complain was told sorry but no mention of refund. When I asked for a refund I was just fobbed off and offered the chicken on my next order. There’s plenty of choice for pizza in Stroud, I’m gonna use one of the other ones!

I ordered a collection over the phone at 5pm to collect at 6pm. Came in at 6 and wasnt even started. Ive worked in food, i understand mess ups happen, thats life. But what makes a restaruant, is how they deal with mess ups. They started the food at 6 put at front of queue as should have been done at 6. And was out with the food by 6.20. Comparatively compared to most other pizza places (except fat toni's) this is one of the better local pizza places Also the dessert cinamon buns are very nice. Id definately reccomended.

Order never turned up. The restaurant is now closed, so i've no option to call and enquire or ask for a refund. I'd expect better service from a pizza chain with such a high reputation.

Heard such wonderful things and never tried before. All I can say was very disappointed. Ordered food at around 9.30. Did you go direct to Italy for the ingredients? Delivered at 11.12pm. Delivery person did apologise, and I expect they were expecting a very grumpy person. But thank you for the thought. Food was awful, congealed and potato side parts were raw. Given that your tracker had the food in 'checking for quality and slicing' for around an hour was surprised to get undercooked food. So sorry that I have to give review like this when I do know that you try. Gave 2 stars for the speedy apology at my door. After reading the reviews on Just Eat I would never have ordered. Just hoping your response doesn't involve you asking me if I would like to become one of your delivery drivers

Absolutely disgusting service, ordered online, sent the wrong food, then was spoken to by the rudest woman on the other end of the phone who refused to do anything about the mistakes made, hung up & ignored further phone calls. The pizzas received was absolutely disgusting. Will not be ordered from here again.

delivery was late, food was cheap but the cheese doesn’t taste of anything and seems a waste of money. The garlic dip is vile it’s just a pot of butter The peri peri chicken things were good fat Toni’s is better by a mile

I am very happy with pizza Accept it was very cold when delivered if it wasn't cold en 10/10 staff are polite on phone better service than dominos I do have to say the garlic dip is better in other places like dominos but that's my personal taste can't do everyone's likings I suppose got much more flavour

Absolutely disgusting treatment ordered on line for a delivery. Delivery time came and went. I phoned which was eventually answered on 3rd attempt.Was told they would go and find out what was going on. After being left for 10mins they hung up! I tried again and it went to answerphone! I kept it ringing until they answered about 5 mins later he knew who I was then pretended he could not hear me ! Then said who is it when he answered with my name! He then said the driver is back with my pizza as could not find the address ! I asked for a refund and surprise surprise he could not hear me again!! I knew he could so told him I expect a full refund or I will go into store tomorrow! Absolutely shocking service my advise…. stick to well established pizza places in stroud !! Fuming 😡

Utter waste of time ordering here, been sent the wrong food back to back and just makes you laugh at how this industry fails to manage to make a basic pizza. Not convinced at all this place will stay open long

Was excited to try these after i found out they were opening in stroud. Prefer their pizza over other major chain pizza takeaways. The food didn’t disappoint at all and was still very hot on delivery which is always a plus. Took advantage of their delivery deals when ordering online. Getting a large pizza (12inch i believe) for £10.99 There is a minimum delivery (£15 i think) Will be ordering from them again sometime soon

Absolutely disgusting treatment my daughter ordered on line for a delivery. Delivery time came and went. I phoned which was eventually answered on 3rd attempt.Was told they would go and find out what was going on. After being left for 10mins hanging on and listening to them take orders my daughter got a message saying they had cancelled the order. I hung up and tried again and explained the situation and that now they had cancelled the order, he went to investigate and told me it was cancelled due to being short staffed. I did point out I heard them taking other orders for delivery. So Cross won't be using again.

The two star is for the pizza only. Once in a blue moon we will have a takeaway. Its a rare occasion. We ordered from papa John's this evening (2nd aug 22) The delivery driver was extremely polite The food was very well presented and considering were out of town was really hot. The two stars is for the taste. The pizza was really bad. All we could smell was the dairy from the cheese but there was no taste whatsoever. We had 3 large pizza, and not one of us was able to eat half each. The tasteless cheese smelt really odd and the no taste was making us feel sick. The green peppers and olives were not great either I won't be ordering again as this was not a service problem its clearly their cheese product that they use. Really disappointed as were all very hungry On a plus said the dogs were drooling and absolutely loved it.... saying that, dogs will eat anything right. So its a low 2 star from us

Very average...asked the guy if I could have spicy beef in place of ham and could I have a few onions. Ended up paying £9.69 instead for a few onions. Really stingy with the toppings, 1 piece of pineapple per slice and 1 or 2 bits of spicy mince per slice. Sorry Papa John's your going to have to do better than this! There are many pizza outlets in town that offer a better product. Your introductory offer of £7.99 for a pizza will soon be over. USA chicken are streets ahead of you!

Good value and better pizzas than the other big high street brand.
