Ordered 3 large pizzas for delivery. Toppings sparse, cheese almost nonexistent and bread stale. One of the pizzas strangely tasted of curry, assuming it had been cross contaminated with something else on the menu. Called to complain and to pick up the order for refund. Still waiting on it and staff won’t confirm if it’s even been processed. The pale patches on the pizza is exposed bread not cheese as you would expect. Had better quality £1 frozen pizza

Consistently superior to the other Pizza restaurants in the area. Ingredients are fresh, tasty and cooked to perfection. The pizza bases taste amazing too. All of this combined with deals that take a significant slice off the price make this my go-to takeaway. Well done!

Delivery driver was great the food was terrible paid 40 quid for pizza and chicken bites the pizza was warm at best couldn’t even eat half of it because I felt sick chicken bites were hard and weirdly crunchy terrible food but alright service

Used to order from this store frequently but I'm unsure if there has been a change in management as over the past year every order has been marked as delivered on the Papa John's app but I've had to ring up to see where my order is? Unsure why this is the case but I'm assuming it's to do with maximum order time from Papa John's and this local store exceeding it. I never used to have these issues with this store a couple of years ago, also have had multiple sauces missing on each occasion

Quality service, food was amazing atmosphere was brilliant

Upon entering the shop, I was totally disappointed when staff chose to answer telephone order instead of serving me first. I asked whether a small size pizza was enough for one person, only to be sold a medium size with added extra costs when a display outside shop offering pizza deals which I pointed out yet staff completely ignored me. The pizza was rushed within 10 minutes, was not satisfied with taste and fresh ingredients pizza toppings were old - specifically the green peppers. Staff not trained accordingly failed basic customer service skills. End result: will not order again and complaint raised with Papa Johns HQ into gross misconduct which will see the store being investigated for breach of trust holding a branded franchise.

This is the worst pizza I have ever purchased, £75 for 5 pizzas is about the price I would expect to pay. However when they arrived they were 50% dough and not cooked properly, 50% of the order went in the bin so not a good deal at all. There are much better pizza take away's in the area and this was a first and last time experience.

I'll never order another pizza from here ever again after the two we received on Saturday night. Nearly cold with sparse toppings. Very poor quality and no resemblance to the same pizza's we've ordered from this shop many times before over the years. We had received a marketing letter, informing us that it was under new management and offering us a deal as a previous customer. Suffice to say, Papa John's have now well and truly lost my custom and I'll be buying from elsewhere in future.

Not one to do reviews normally as both myself and my partner work in the hospitality trade however on this instance I have decided to make an exception. We ordered food from here with the confirmation email coming through at 21:08, last service update notifying us food had been delivered was at 21:50 but still no food. Not an issue, we know drivers may press the "delivered" button when they are 5minutes out. 10 minutes later.... still no food, being in terraced houses we decided to give the pizza shop a call just incase there was a mix up with the houses. Spoke to a lady who said it would be 10minutes - again, not an issue. 20 minutes has passed at this point and still no food, so we ring again. This time being told it would be another 10 minutes(by who we think was the same lady) and the driver wouldn't be long, the wait was due to the driver going to the wrong address and at this point the phone was passed onto a male member of staff(Tony) who said the wait was due to the roads being flooded and the driver was struggling to get to our house - which is strange as we had no issue getting to our house after work at 8pm. We did tell Tony what the other member of staff told us and he seemed so in shock he just went silent on the phone. At this point we were concerned our food was going to arrive cold(30mins after the original delivered status) so we asked Tony if he could stay on the phone to us just incase there was any issues with the food which he was fine with. Whilst waiting for the driver to arrive he offered a free dessert which we declined, then offered 50% off which again we declined. At this point the driver has arrived, and of course the food was barely warm and we were happy to refuse the food and would prefer a full refund, which Tony refused. Talking to the driver he then explained he had been given 4 deliveries to make all at once and we were last on that list with the previous delivery being in Seaton Sluice which is a minimum of 12 minutes away(our house is 11minutes away from Papa John's) We explained this to Tony and again asked for a refund which he then accepted but not immediately. And said we would need to ring back tomorrow to sort out but would need to ask for him. We did ask his position just incase there were any further issues in which he refused, asked if he was the manager which he denied and said the manager wasn't in. So overall we paid just under £40 for 2 pizzas that we had to put in our oven to heat up, cold chicken wings and a cold cheesey garlic bread. Overall a terrible service, terrible staff attitude and terrible food. Very disappointing and hope this review finds the manager and they take some kind of action.

I got a small pepperoni pizza and it tasted really nice, exactly how a pepperoni pizza should taste. Would recommend going here and then taking the pizza to the beach, enjoying the atmosphere around.

Had Papa Johns twice in the last month. Both times all sections of food were spot on, garlic dough bites unreal, had one of the new cheese based pizza and it was very flavoursome. Ordered bbq meat feast today and more toppings on it than the other well know pizza business. Puds are also a lovely little extra treat.

The food is good but less cheese in the pizza during my last visit. I ordered half and half pizza. But when i had the pizza in Scotland, it was superb. Garder Party pizza is nice. But chicken fajita pizza is less in chicken. Overall food is good but the quantity needs to be reassessed. They don't have dining area so they do only take out.

As always, great pizzas. Can be delivered or picked up. It's only a shop/outlet so no real atmosphere hence only three stars. They have a wide range of pizzas and most often special offers. Highly recommend.

Joke of a service. Couldn't deliver on time if you lived next door. Tony has the customer service skill of a mushroom and never gets Steven the manager to call you. If you want food on time order for an hour before you want it.

Ordered on-line and it still hadn’t arrived an hour and a half later. No way of contacting them as phone line didn’t work. Decided to drive to shop to collect it. No apologies or refund given. Got home to ding it had been delivered and it arrived cold and inedible. Not the first time we’ve had issues with Papa Johns Whitley Bay but never as bad as this. Won’t be returning…. Delivery was marked as delivered 20 minutes before it arrived, this happens every time and they claim it's due to momentary service loss but they do this to make their delivery time quota seem better for higher ups, absolutely ridiculous

Me and my partner are regular customers in this shop for over 5 years. Each time the order was spot on.However today our collection was very disappointing the pizza was cold when we got home. Offered no apology whatsoever very disappointing. Had to escalate the complainant further and will no longer order from them anymore. The manager and staff were not helping or at least apologize.

50 minute wait for a cold pizza, which the driver refused to bring to door. Insisted we go out and collect them. Excuse? 'We have old drivers who can't use stairs'. He looked considerably younger than us. They've now introduced a delivery charge, and don't actually deliver. Kinda says it all.

Food is always fresh and tasty. Delivery is beyond quick and service is always friendly. The online discount codes make the prices more realistic. My only wish would be that the menu had more choice but can't fault the food available.

Avoid at all costs! Ordered and paid for a pizza but could not collect due to work commitments. Went in the next day to explain was told repeatedly to just ‘forget it’ . Staff refused to give me any information, managers name or even an email address to right into.

Amzing priduct clean store very smart

I placed order on line at approx 3.30 for delivery at 8pm I tracked on line and it was showing as delivery at 7.51....I rang shop at 8.10...asking where my delivery was...they were very sorry technical issues and bad weather...it was lightly raining...said would be delivered in a few minutes. At 8.30 I rang again. Send excuses and it finally turned up st 8.36...come. we had to reheat in oven. Shocking service

collected the pizza and my partner took one bite into the pizza and notice a big black hair in the cheese, when I rang up to try get a refund I just got terrible attitude and accused of placing the hair in the pizza myself and that no one in the shop has black hair which was a lie as the manager and numerous other staff had black hair, they also wouldn’t send a driver to collect the pizza so I had to return to give them the pizza back going out my way and putting myself out of pocket I won’t be using this place again!

Ordered myself a pizza for the match. Pizza arrived late but only by 15mins so not a huge deal. Pizza was great. Tasted really good. Now shortly after eating the pizza, I start getting stomach pains. O thought nothing of it and tried to enjoy the match ended up sitting on the toilet for 20mins with diarrhea coming out of me like lava. Not a good experience I must say!

Had a large half n half cheese n tomato and bbq chicken pizza with stuffed crust. Was delivered to our hotel within 25minutes and have to say there was none left, it was delicious.

Impressive order to delivery turnaround time.

I ordered a half and half pizza to collect. The positives are that the staff were friendly, pizza was prepared very quickly, it was hot and a reasonable price. Onto the negatives: my half, a margherita with olives, was rather dull. I felt it was 90% base despite ordering a regular base, there weren’t many olives on, and the cheese was bland (not that mozzarella’s known for being flavourful, but still). Maybe it’s better if you order with more toppings, as my mum did so and enjoyed her half. All in all, I wouldn’t bother ordering from here again.

I called after an hour to be palmed of with some BS about 'Internet issues' that happened to clear up that second, no apology or anything, I was then told it'd be here in 20 minutes. We'll sure enough I had to chase them up again after 40 minutes then I got the next lot of BS 'the driver will be there in 5 minutes'. Eventually it turned up 2 hours after the order, no apologies. I had previously ordered from this store and it was bad then but thought I'd give them another chance. Never again

The vegan pizzas from here are sooo good! The cheese is real melty goodness and the vegan sausage topping is delicious.

Normally buy supermarket pizza but decided tonight to try Papa Johns in Whitley Bay. App wasn’t working so phoned up to place an order. First time they hung straight up. Second time they said they couldn’t take an order because they have internet issues. So they couldn’t take an order over the phone because they had problems with their internet. Sounded more like the staff couldn’t be bothered. First and last time.

We ordered online and paid £20. Pizza was meant to arrive at 7pm at 7:40 it still didn’t arrive so we rang up just to be told there short on staff so won’t be delivering to out area! They took our money and didn’t even call to let us know they can’t deliver it! We’ve asked for a refund but he can’t process it for a few days. The man on the phone was rude and didn’t seem to care that they’ve taken our money for nothing in return.

Having getting an virgin offer of buy one pizza get another for one pound. We took it up. Except we got one pizza and two side dishes. Contacting the shop was easy and I was able to speak to the manager but unfortunately he declined to acknowledge any virgin deal and said not to use his firm if we relied on these deals. I’ve use papa johns for a while now but taking his advice we won’t be going back.

This would have been about my fourth visit to papa johns and there friendly enough and myself and the kids did enjoy the pizzas.Every time we order we are told to wait so long before collecting and every time we get there after said amount of time the order has never been done so I then have to wait another 20 minutes with two young children for them to do the order.Never going back again!

They've really improved recently, had a couple of issues with slow deliveries and incorrect orders in the past but things run a lot more smoothly here now. Pizza is great signature Papa John's and collection takes 15-20 minutes.

Absolutely apauling service from Papa John's in Whitley Bay. Ordered on line from Whitley bay branch. Payment was taken yet 2 hours later we hadn't received our order. As a result I called the Whitley Bay branch where they explained they could not see my order on their computer and simply advised I wouldn't receive my order. They said I'd have to wait until Monday to speak to customer services. The member of staff I spoke with was unpleasant and rude when I questioned him in relation to the money that had been taken from my bank account...in essence he said it was a franchise so it wasn't his problem and he didn't appreciate my questions?? Really? I will NEVER use papa johns again. Disgusting!! I want my money back!!

Incorrectly ordered the wrong pizza online for the "Any Pizza for £11.99, collection only" deal, called up straight away to correct the order, employee was very rude, said "the pizza is in the oven, not changing it", then went to pick up the order and asked him why, he was even more rude. Shame, I like Papa John's, but if I'm paying that kind of premium, I expect top customer service.

We called late one night with many restaurants not serving food, the service was ok but not great, they had a child working in the kitchen which i didn't think was great. the food took around 20 minutes despite it not being that busy but we weren't in any particular rush. Once we received the food it was hot and of a decent quality but the choice and variety wasn't that of Dominos

Ordered pizzas for delivery, they didn't turn up within the specified time. Rang about the delivery, was told pizza was still in the oven (two hours after ordering). Pizza still wasn't delivered over 4 hours after ordering. Another phonecall to Papa Johns asking for a refund and was refused. I do not recommend Papa Johns and will not be using again, am still waiting for a refund.

Llamó y le preguntó a 7. 30 pm donde mi entrega fue y me dijeron que estaban muy ocupados (pedí dos horas y media antes! ) y estaban preparando mi pedido y sería conmigo 15 - 20 minutos. Finalmente después de esperar otros 40 minutos mi pedido llegó, piedra fría! No solo esto no incluyen el chapuzón que pedí y pagué por (a menudo no preguntamos cómo eso? ! ). 100% no pensaré volver a papa johns, muy decepcionante por decir lo menos! !

Nephew was constantly requesting a Pizza from here as he said how good it was .I therefore relented and decided to try , he thoroughly enjoyed however I was dissapointment with the Pizza as there was hardly any topping and the price was expensive.I would give a thumbs up for the garlic slices however the rest was overrated.Friendly and helpful man taking orders.

Generally Speaking the pizzas are always nice. The crust is lovely and the toppings are nice. Much better than dominos. As with chains always use vouchers as pizzas are over priced based on rrp. This is the company's fault not the franchise's.Only complaint i have garlic sauce is awful again its the coperate companies fault and find they skimp on the cheese once in a while which is probably down to the papa johns coperate company charging a fortune to the franchise for the ingredients.Its probably the best pizza shop for pizzas in whitley bay but at this moment in time its not a huge achievement but still its a achievement.

Delivery was relatively speedy given I live a good few miles away. However, the food itself is VILE. The 'garlic knots' were dripping in grease to the point where it had spilled out of the side order box and covered the pizza box. They also have the most disgusting 'garlic' sauce, which is like a clarified butter with a fake garlic flavour. The knots are caked in it and the sauce which accompanies the pizza is absolutely vile. The pizza dough itself is nice and fresh, but the toppings have little flavour. Will never order from this company again.

Ordered for collection, when we arrived to pick up we were made to wait with no greeting whilst staff answered the phone to take more orders!???Even when a queue formed they didn't take the hint and my partner had to shout for someone.Pizza box felt cold, upon getting it home and opening it we had been given the wrong pizza. Waited over an hour for the correct one to be delivered. Girl on hone was very apologetic but if they were too busy with the orders they had why were they willing to take more?? Baffling....
