Pangea Restaurant in Stockton-on-Tees

First time we went to this mixology Pangea restaurant, we really liked the menu which has different cuisines with veg and vegan options. Taste of food was amazing and was freshly made. Customer service was excellent.

Overall a very disappointing experience. So we had a table booked for 8 people, but on the day, we had one extra friend joining, however, when we asked for one extra chair, we were told they can't accommodate us, as they did not have any available. However, whilst we there, there was only our table and one other table used, with loads of other empty chairs around. We had to squeeze on the sofa to get all around the table. When we ordered drinks, some were served, some not, so we had to keep reminding the waiters about it. We had the reservation for 5pm, then we were told we would need to leave by 7:15, bare in mind the food did not arrive until 6:30. The foot was also very disappointing. Everything was really salty, beef very tough, vegetable raw (they take the definition al dente to an extreme). Singapore noodles, definitely were not that. Pasta, incredible spicy, although there was no indication in the menu of this being a spicy plate. Margarita pizza, shocking, just a thick dough with loads of tomato sauce which tasted like plain passata. And to top thia, when the bill arrived, we had £30 worth of extra items added to the bill, which we did not consumed. I would not recommend it and I will definitely not go back ever again

Came in with 5 friends after very much looking forward to a lovely experience after hearing positive reviews. Sat down and someone took my drink order. I tried to order a pint of lager shandy as I was driving. That's pretty much where the problems began as I'm not sure the server really knew what one was and they sure didn't tell me they don't do draught lager. So I ended up with shandy but in a small glass made from a bottle of peroni and a bottle of lemonade for which I charged £9!!! If I'd been advised it was bottles only, I'd have just had one bottle instead of being charged for two drinks. I didn't even get the rest of the bottles I'd paid for despite asking multiple times. I'm sorry, but I was shocked... Peroni was £6 and bottle of lemonade was £3 and I'd say I got 3/4 of each bottle. I think they threw the rest away honestly. It did provide a standing joke for the rest of the evening though!!! Moving on, we had to ask for extra cutlery after our starters and our mains had arrived 5 minutes ago, we had to repeat our orders multiple times, we were made to feel as if it was an inconvenience to pay for our drinks as we went rather than on a tab (we had one drink each the whole time). To be honest, I think it was because it somehow confused the staff. We did try to stay polite and cheerful because at the end of the day, it was a team of very young people who were trying to do their best (being very generous here), but the inexperience (or lack of interest) really showed. The service is just really poor and I'm not a hard person to please. The ONLY saving grace of the evening really was the food was actually lovely, Hot, tasty and arrived in a timely manner. Really couldn't fault the food, generous portions but be warned everyone's dish was really quite spicy, even things you wouldn't normally think would be spicy, so take that as an advisory. Then to add insult to injury, our bill arrived and I was charged again for my overpriced shandy and another drink that we'd paid for on arrival. We all had one drink each so it wasn't difficult to keep track of surely?! So when I raised this issue with the server, they tried to argue over it with me and that's when I went back to our table and took the (small)tip back we'd left out for them. I'd like to go back on another day as the food was delicious, but the service we received was just incredibly poor. When we arrived it wasn't busy at all so didn't even have that excuse. If the service was decent, I'd have given 4 or 5 stars.

We had great expectations after reading the reviews for the restaurant and booked the valentines set menu at £35 per head for two of us . We were seated immediately which was great and our food and drink choices taken within minutes . However the starter turned up very quickly but no drinks for at least ten minutes after . As the starter ( there was only a choice of one ) was very spicy I couldn’t eat it without a drink . By the time the drink came my partner had finished his as he was hungry and has a better palate for spice . The main course was fine I ordered a parmo and it was nice . However my partner ordered a biryani and found it quite dry . The main bugbear of the evening was the dessert . It was advertised as unlimited visits to the dessert table and looking at previous dessert photo reviews we were quite excited. We were astonished to walk up and find only a chocolate fountain with paper plates and two types of fruit and some marshmallows . There was also a frozen cheesescake ( very similar to the budget ones you see in a frozen supermarket aisle . ) absolutely zero effort and not what would i have expected at all for £35 a head and it left us literally with a bad taste in our mouths . We won’t be back .

Absolutely gorgeous place with amazing food! We came for my father in laws birthday and Mizzy, and the staff working made sure we’d enjoyed the experience. The decor of the place is absolutely stunning. The Parmos were delicious, and the desserts were to die for! Id like to make a special mention to Megan, Tom and Mizzy for their fab customer service🫶🏻

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Pangea, and I must say it was a delightful experience from start to finish. From the warm ambiance to the exceptional service, this restaurant truly exceeded my expectations.

Food superb but massively let down by the poor service. Very slow at asking for our drinks order. It appeared nobody was overseeing the restaurant. G&T I revived looked unappealing, as it was rushed. The bar tender came over and forgot a glass to accompany the bottle we had ordered. We did not feel looked after, had to ask for things, that you’d expect them to be on top of.

arrived a little after 5pm, i had reserved a table this time, i ordered the same prawn starter as it was delicious, and was the 2nd time, i ordered the prawn and chicken massaman thai curry this time, it was awesome, my mother ordered the grlled tiger prawns, the sauce was a little spicy for her tastes, but everyone has different tolerances to chilli's, and spices, we both shared a dessert platter which was awesome again. we will certainly return , but mother would probably try a thai curry this time, Jessica was a god waitress.

First visit to the Resturant at on a weekday, very impressed. Really enjoyed the food and mocktails provided Excellent service & experience. This is now my go too restaurant which I will continue visiting regularly.

I'm a neurodivergent individual and struggle with new/different foods, so I always go for the same things in restaurants (pizza, parmo, etc) because I know what to expect. Pangea has these on the menu, but my husband encouraged me to try something a bit different. I had the Bom Bae chicken to start. Chicken is a safe food, right? It was beautifully cooked and in a sauce that had a tiny bit of spice but was also sweet. It really hit the spot and was just the perfect amount to get you going. Mains came, and I had the Chicken Moja Biryani. I pretty much inhaled it. It was so delicious! Just the right amount of food again 😋 I was full but not overly stuffed, so my cocktail was still enjoyable. The bill came, and even with the bottle of wine, it was a surprise to see how reasonable it was. The food was delicious, and the staff were perfectly attentive (not like some restaurants where they are there every 2 minutes asking if its OK!). They knew just the right times to come over. The fire dancer was amazing too as she moved around the restaurant so everyone got to see her. First time we've been, and we will definitely be back. I would recommend 100%

Didn’t have a great experience on the whole. My starter was actually very nice and highly recommend the lamb kofta. However once I had that cleared away, I was never given a knife and fork. My main was brought out to me but no cutlery. I asked for some and it was never brought. After about 5 mins everyone else in my party started to receive their mains but I still had no cutlery. Eventually, the waiting staff that o asked the second time did run out and get some. However my food was pretty cold by that point. My food was actually alright. I had the Thai curry which was flavourful but wasn’t very warm. But my mums prawns came with a sauce that tasted like a sweet and sour sauce from a jar, you would buy in any supermarket. Another party member had the prawns and also left theirs. My husband had pad kee mao (drunken noodles) which was so salty he couldn’t eat them. When his plate was cleared he did mention it but nothing was said. The staff were all very nice and this is not to say they weren’t good. It was busy and was just so chaotic. It seemed as though the manager was doing anything but managing the staff. The drinks are ridiculously over priced. I had a Long Island ice tea which we all know are strong but was really weak so felt a little ripped off. I just felt that they are trying to be like a London restaurant but in Norton with very much London prices. For what they are charging, it just really fell short of the bench mark they set for themselves. Also they had a fire breather? Is that necessary when your trying to eat dinner? In my opinion she would have been better putting down her fire sticks and clearing in some tables or bringing out the card reader so people didn’t have to wait for 20 mins to pay the bill. (Which we had to do). She also set the fire alarm off too which doesn’t really come across as professional. This place does has a vast menu and some things were really nice. Others, not so nice. I would hope that my feedback is not taken as an attack and more of a constructive criticism as I believe with a few tweaks it’s actually got potential to be great. Maybe we were just unlucky and caught them on a busy/ off night. But never the less, that was my opinion based on my experience.

Exactly what Stockton needed! Perfect food in an amazing environment. You know the owners are experienced in culinary because menu isn't cluttered. Simply fabolous. Loved it there!

Visited tonight. Lovely place, attentive staff and while the food was excellent more consideration needs to be made for diners with food allergies. My husband is caeliac and was only able to choose from 2 main courses, surely curry options should be available?
