Pandan Leaf in Haringey

Pandan Leaf is a traditional southern Thai restaurant that seems to be (Thai) family run - and indeed on the evening that we visited was full of families. Good to see that they're family friendly though it got pretty noisy. The food was really enjoyable. We ordered pretty traditional dishes such as fish cakes, phad thai and tom kha. The fish cakes were plump and succulent, the phad thai was tasty and the tom kha was on point. Perhaps the green chicken curry that we ordered was a little disappointing - not quite as good as elsewhere - and once again it contained bamboo shoot - which you don't really find in authentic Thai food. Everything could, however, been a little spicier. We were a little disappointed with the desserts. Though it wasn't on the menu we were excited to learn that they offered mango & sticky rice. Unfortunately the rice wasn't the right rice and wasn't warm enough. The coconut cream/milk added wasn't quite right and they added sesame seeds instead of lentils. The mango wasn't Thai either - so all in all it didn't quite work though it was a brave attempt. Equally, the kluay tod was a brave attempt at a Thai version of toffee bananas that are common in Chinese restaurants. It didn't quite work for me as the batter was a bit mushy, providing no foil to the innate mushiness of the banana inside. Having said all that there were enough good points to warrant a good rating. The service was friendly and efficient and it was surprisingly easy to get parking nearby.

The food is generally good but OMG the actual dining room is the most soulless, cold, awful atmosphere I’ve ever experienced! Went there with a friend for a catch up, neither of us had actually eaten in the restaurant before. The room we were led to had ZERO atmosphere, like a council canteen. There were only 3 other people in there but they had sat us right next to another couple! In complete silence! They need soft music, soft lighting, and some common sense to spread people out. But frankly I think the best tip is NOT to eat in, just get a takeout!

We ate in the restaurant. Really nice massaman curry and a Penang curry. Sharing platter great too. Service was good. Everyone was seated in the second room, not near the door, so we had no disruption from delivery drivers. Maybe the owners have read the previous reviews about issues with the take away trade having on the diners.

Food is awful. Asked for only pineapple and no veg with my sweet and sour. Neither was there. Very oily. The chicken is mostly batter and any chicken inside it felt like shredded mushed bits. Got a plain noodles on the side, it was literally white noodles with 7-8 pieces of shredded carrots, not a plain chow mein like you would expect from most places. My partne bought a veg Singapore noodles which was also oily for some reason too and flavourless, I live around the corner this place this is v unfortunate

I made an order through deliveroo. Food arrived freezing cold and main dishes missing. And then nobody answered the phone when calling to sort. Avoid this place for one of the other decent Thai restaurants in the area. Awful service.

The foods here are absolutely amazing as always. We had pad Thai noodles and jungle curry prawn was so spicy but I love it. The services was not good, I felt like the lady don’t know much about the menu and while I was eating she keep play on the phones all the time. Which to me seem very disrespectful. If she want to play on the phones, I suggest her not to come to work but just stay home!! Please improve your service. We love your foods so much.

Gave us the wrong order over deliveroo. Refused to take any responsibility. Wanted us to pay a delivery fee again or fetch it ourselves. Then the woman on the phone hung up on us. Very unhappy with the service.

One of my favorite spots!! The food was absolutely delicious😋 everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. The restaurant itself is cozy and has a nice atmosphere, perfect for a casual dinner or even a small celebration. Highly recommend!

Ordered delivery and was delayed by nearly 1hr. I called the restaurant to politely enquire, was put on hold and then they just hung up the call. Called back twice again and the call was answered and immediately hung up without even allowing me to say ‘hello’. Called back a third time and got voicemail. Exasperated, I raised with Deliveroo and then the order arrived. I’d ordered the giant river prawns which arrived soggy (not the meaty texture prawns should be) pointing to either freshness issues or inadequacies in the thawing and / or cooking process. Other dishes arrived to the quality I expect. Really disappointed by the whole experience and do not feel valued as a customer.

La comida estaba sobrecargada de azúcar, enmascarando completamente cualquier sabor asiático auténtico, especias aromáticas o calor. La sopa de langostinos de coco fue especialmente decepcionante: ¡contenía setas blancas crudas y sin cocer y apenas langostinos, solo más azúcar! Parece que están usando azúcar excesiva para enmascarar la falta de sabor, lo que es engañoso y poco apetitoso. Cuando señalé que los hongos estaban crudos, la respuesta del personal fue desdeñosa. La mujer con la que hablé afirmó: “Eso es imposible”, a pesar de que tenía pruebas fotográficas. En general, la calidad de la comida y el servicio eran pésimos. No recomendaría este lugar a nadie.

Excelente servicio, buena comida y un alto precio. El personal es siempre muy profesional y atento. Los ingredientes son frescos y el lugar es agradable y tranquilo. Genial si estás en el norte de Londres y buscas un lugar para relajarte y disfrutar de la cocina asiática.

Do not order from here! Hair found in food which is absolutely disgusting. No hygiene protocol taken clearly. We could not eat it for this reason.

Excellent fresh Thai food in a lovely low key restaurant. The restaurant seems to be family run with polite and friendly staff. The place is clean and well maintained. Highly recommend.

Uber eats menu does not reflect their own website. I do believe it's the restaurant's responsibility's to to ensure their menu is advertised accurately so customers can order. Impossible to work out what to order if you are vegan as options are not clearly labelled and inconsistent across websites. This should be the case. Also pricey in comparison to other local establishments.

We ordered takeaway. When it arrived, we saw that the container for one of the curries had opened slightly, spilling sauce inside the bag. We told the restaurant this directly several times as constructive feedback, and to give them a chance to explain. We never received a response. Whilst we accept that mistakes and poor service can happen, the sign of a good business is that when there is a problem and they’re told about it, they respond.

Really friendly, lovely restaurant. The red curry is hands down one of the best red curries I’ve ever had. They do a great lunch menu with smaller portions and prices. Have eaten here quite a bit and recommend.

Thank you for response. Review score amended. He wasn't clear over the phone that the order wasn't going to be processed hence me waiting for the 20 min duration he said, I understood the £30 rule. An apology wouldn't have gone amiss. Even if it was just apologies for misunderstanding etc. It was a busy night and he is young so im sure he will learn and improve for next time.

We had a lovely date night at Pandan Leaf. Food was freshly cooked and of great quality. Service was efficient and friendly. Will definitely be revisiting.

We decided spontaneously to have a dinner there yesterday night. It was extremely quiet, I don't know why. We had massaman curry and it was delicious. Strongly recommend the duck with tamarind souce, crispy and juicy. And of course Thai beer was accompanying the meal perfectly well. The staff were adorable, helpful and not clingy. A nice romantic evening, reminded us our trip to Thailand. Thank you!

Avoid this if you are ordering via Uber eats. Ordered an hour before and still preparing. No one is answering the phone and finally someone answered and said something and abruptly cut the call while I’m talking. After the call, Uber status has been changed to finding Uber driver within 5-10 mins.

Dim sum was the highlight, very good dish. The spicy prawn salad and the mushroom Tom Yum soup were proper nice too. Overall a good experience!

Wow, what an amazing resturant! Serene atmosphere, clean cutlery, tables, glasses and dishes. The food is UNBELIEVABLY delicious bursting with tons of flavour and very fresh. I heavily recommend this place as I will definitely attend for another special occasion.

Dishes brought- Salt and pepper garlic chicken with fried rice, Oyster sauce crispy chicken, and peanut sauce and a coke. Firstly they forgot to include my drink, which I paid for, my driver definitely didn’t have it. The fried rice was so bloody bland, was just refried in some yellow oil rubbish. The crispy chicken wasn’t all that either, the oyster sauce was ok but no where near good. And the salt and pepper garlic chicken…. B L A N D… not sure how they managed that. Genuinely I make a tastier salt and pepper chicken (I’m as English as they come). I couldn’t make the chicken as crispy as them so will give the crisp a thumbs up. The only thing that was good from here was the peanut sauce. That was banging 👍🏻 A shame as the reviews online were good.

Absolutely delicious food. Lunch menu very reasonable at £10 each. I had duck red curry with coconut rice and would recommend.

Sadly I will stop ordering from Pandan leaf as the prices they charge on Deliveroo have now reached the ridiculous. For two people to have a small meal delivered it’s now £40 pounds and the portions just don’t hack it for those prices, particularly the incredibly stingy portion of £4 rice that barely was enough for one person let alone two. I have been buying food from here for 8 years but the recent takeaways was the last time I can spend that sort of money and not be full afterwards. I know deliveroo are absolutely diabolical in what they charge restaurants, but in this situation not adding free prawn crackers for orders over £30 or just simply giving enough rice would be a good idea.

Terrible. Sent the wrong order, said they couldn’t replace it but would refund me. Spent the next 6 days trying to resolve it. Ignored my calls and messages. The manager finally contacted me today (in error, thinking I was someone else). They were so rude and arrogant that it was quite shocking and basically said it’s not their problem that i never got the food I ordered. Most definitely won’t be using them ever again. Awful

Average. Was a very sweet and sickly curry (almost like a coconut dessert), and not spicy (it was mild, very little spice) although I had asked for "very spicy".

We regularly order takeaway from Pandan Leaf and we love them, but I will say that they have changed their recipe for the green curry over the last month and I have no idea why - it used to taste so so amazing and aromatic, and now it doesn’t taste of much and is way too sweet. Please please please change it back to how it was!! X

Had delivery from here and was superb! Got the panang curry and the flavour was amazing, so smooth and balanced. The chicken could be better quality and the veg could be better but the curry itself was delicious. The fish cakes are SO GOOD I crave them constantly. Lovely lemongrass aroma throughout. Will be ordering again!

Consistently excellent since the takeover a few years ago, service always warm & efficient & the food is fresh & perfectly executed.

There food here was super authentic and tasty! The pad kee mao noodle was chewy, aromatic and had a nice kick to it. I would also recommend ordering a coconut rice on the side as it rice contained a nice sweet, but creamy coconut flavour to it. The service was also super great and made my experience very enjoyable! Would definitely come back

Poor customer service Like most restaurants these days, only seem to cater for online orders, hence delivery drivers constantly in and out , phones and computers permanently ringing. Not a relaxed place to come to anymore, sit down customers seem to be an inconvenience.
