Food was unfortunately poor, stair fry noodles were burned but still served to us. They removed some of it but you could still taste and smell burned noodles. We spend £170 there and to be honest we expected much better food a d experience to the one we received today. Food was served in small soup plates , everything was old and outdated apart from the prices which were very high compared to the quality of the food we received unfortunately. We want be back there again. Probably worst thai food restaurant I ever eaten in last 20 years.

I absolutely loved this restaurant. Had been recommended by a friend but I had no expectation, and wasn't expecting to turn up and discover the most beautifully, brilliantly camp decor. dark wood tables and chairs with leopard and tiger print cushions and walls adorned with all sorts of delights, from princess Di to Tom and Jerry to cats of varying descriptions. With a playlist of 1960s crooners (the kind your nan used to sing along to whilst hoovering) to help aid the digestion of our delicious curries (Ruby and Jade). Lovely service! only lost a star on atmosphere cos the head lights were quite bright and the heater was making a buzzing sound, but these details for me were absolutely not an issue, because in the age of the instagram induced homogony in restaurant and cafe design, to find somewhere so delightfully unique and 'itself' (not trying to be anyone or anything else) felt both thrilling and refreshing. There was no performance, just a joyful quirkiness with delicious Thai food. Thank you Cats! I will be back (and next time i will take photos!)

Hidden gem with a unique local but Thai atmosphere.

I loved this lovely Thai restaurant by Finsbury Park. The staff were friendly, the food was great (I had green curry with chicken, steamed rice) at a reasonable price, and my friends and I could chat in a comfortable setting without music blaring. The decor gives you the feeling of an authentic family-run restaurant. I would certainly go again...

Me and my partner were looking for a Thai restaurant to eat at last night and we didn't want to travel that far. We were greeted by a waitress who offered us a table. She said we could have a place by the fireplace, which looked enticing, but it was unusually close to the fireplace so we passed. When looking around the place we noticed the decor inside was very unusual. I was faced with a wall filled with pictures of loads of random children. I understand it might be a quirky, experimental approach to decor but I couldn't really gauge what theme they were going for. Some of the decor is really nice, some of it not so much, but that's just my personal opinion. We were looking at the menu and the waitress who seated us came back over to take our order. I noticed there was something very off with the service. She seemed very on edge and anxious and she couldn't really give us any sort of recommendation from the menu. We ordered our food and we were served 'Pad Thai cashew noodles' and 'Pork stir fry.' The noodles were overcooked, lacked flavour, the beef pieces were hard and it overall did not feel fresh. I get it might have been a sweet dish but the only flavour in that dish was sweetness and nothing else. We gave it just a 3 out of 10. The pork stir fry was the best dish but once again it did not taste fresh. The consistency of the pork was more chewy, the sauce was not bad but it tasted like a lot of additives were put into it. Also in that dish there were a lot of dubious looking vegetables. To conclude with the food none of it tasted fresh and it left us feeling sick. Now to talk about the drinks. The beer arrived promptly, but unfortunately the whiskey sour was an abomination. It felt like straight, cheap whisky stirred in with all the ingredients and it resembled absolutely nothing of a whisky sour. Another thing to add to our experience was the kitchen staff came out twice and looked at us. A young man gave me an upset look when passing by our table. The other two members of the kitchen, a woman and a man were checking on us with some concerning looks. One of the men in the kitchen asked us if everything was ok. The waitress also asked us if it was ok. My partner was able to keep a straight face, but I could not. I said it was alright but I was unable to look them in the eyes as I really struggle to hide my real feelings. It was a very uncomfortable situation to be in and I hope, this honest review can save other people from the horrendous meal experience we subjected ourselves to. The meal left us not just sick but really ruined our evening. If you are planning a romantic date with your partner don't come here. You would both feel miserable by the end of it. Trust us! When we paid for our food we were offered a takeaway bag. I appreciate the offer, but it was pretty clear from what was left we weren't that interested in taking it home. It felt very awkward to say no and I just couldn't shake this underlining tension between us and the staff. Overall, we were very unsatisfied with the experience at this restaurant. When I looked on Google reviews it had a 4.3 out of 5. It isn't the best rating but far from the worst. I was reading some of the reviews going back 7 years and there is a mixed reception. I also noticed on some negative reviews the owners actually replied a very unprofessional response. I wish I had seen this before entering, but it's not that I take the time to scan negative reviews before trying a place. Another interesting point to take into account when considering this place is the similarity between all the 5 star reviews. It's as if a lot of them have been written by the same person, but hey ... I guess I am just speculating. If you are going out and looking for a restaurant I strongly advise you to go somewhere else. We could have got better quality food of deliveroo and for a lot cheaper. We in total spent £50 here and we have learned a valuable lesson to never go anywhere too quiet or a place with a rating less than 4.6. Thank you for taking the time to read this review.

Had a such a lovely and fun time at the Cats Cafe Thai Restaurant! The staff were so welcoming and friendly, and were really patient and accommodating when we wanted to change tables to be in a warmer spot. The set menus are really good value, and we opted for set menu C which comes with the sharing platter starter, veggie pad Thai, beef massaman curry, a seafood dish, a chicken dish, and rice. It was all delicious and full of flavour and fresh vegetables. Good range of drinks including Singha beer on draught.

Stopped by Cats Cafe today for a quick lunch with a friend visiting from abroad. Our selection was absolutely delicious and paired perfectly in terms of flavour, and spiciness. We had the Thai Prawn Crackers (a must fullstop) followed by the Pad Kra Pow Beef with Sticky Rice, and the Papaya Som Tum Salad with Egg Fried Rice, all to share. Service was welcoming and efficient and our food arrived promptly. The wine was perfectly chilled and we had an overall lovely dining experience.

I'm writing this with a belly still full of yummy Thai. I LOVED IT! Tonight was my first visit to Cats Cafe des Artistes Thai Restaurant, and I can say with confidence, it won't be my last. Delicious dishes, friendly, engaging service, and a great, warm atmosphere. Also, perfectly affordable. I'm highly recommending this place.

Super restaurant Thai, leurs currys sont délicieux, je recommande!

We were sat for over 40 mins, no starters or mains came. It wasnt particularly busy and something they should have noticed much sooner. I had to tell them we have had no food for over 40 minutes. In the end we waited too long and decided to leave as we had other plans and were really hungry. The customer service was very poor and I wouldn't go back even if the food was amazing.

I been coming to this restaurant for years annd even organised my work party here. today as my birthday and as a treat I told my husband I wanted to go there it’s my favourite , I am a creature of habit and always eat the same things. There was a a mix up on the orders and instead of changing it , or even ask me if I wanted to order something else we would pay they just disappeared leaving me with only rice and broccoli, long minutes passed and a guy come over and asked also told me they would fix it but also just disappeared and joined people on the bar, after more than 30 minutes waiting we gave up and asked for the bill and left. The food is amazing but customer service is always poor as there is only really one person working! Thanks Cat for ruining my birthday dinner.

There are authentic dish choices on the menu. Recommend Tilapia Pad Cha and Pad Thai. Weeping Tiger which is steak is well marinated but too tough/overcooked. Pandan coconut rice is very fragrant and you couldn't find this item in just any menu, which gives a lot of uniqueness points!

Great location, close to Finsbury Park. Authentic decor with wooden table and chairs and lots of Thai decorations. Service was wonderful. We had someone with a food allergy and the staff were extremely attentive with this. We shared a mixed starter, then I had the beef randang and king prawn Pad Thai noodles, we also ordered Veggie Green curry with coconut rice and fried fish with chilli too. All dishes were tasty and full of flavour. Overall it was a very enjoyable meal. Toilets were at the far back of the restaurant, disabled access too. Would definitely visit again.

Very best Thai food in London! Having been there after 4 years still finding it as good as it used to be. Fabulous fish cakes, stir fried seafood, volcano chicken and other curry's. Plus fresh lyche juice with fried banana desert. A savory dining experience. Apart from food, Service is slow now a days due to labor shortage and the atmosphere is quite old school. But, the food trumps it all!

Great little place for lunch or dinner run by Thai people who clearly know how to do proper dishes from this part of the world. Friendly staff, interesting decoration, and good value for money. Only let down was calamari- really chewy. Will be back when around.

Fabulous Thai food in an amazing restaurant. We were in Finsbury Park and love Thai food and went to this amazing restaurant. From the moment we entered we were made feel special. Then we ordered from the menu and experienced some of the best Thai food we ever tasted. If you like amazing ambience, great service and amazing Thai food then you will not be disappointed. The most important question is would we return to this restaurant if we are back in Finsbury Park and the answer is definitely yes! Please don’t pass this restaurant by like we nearly did. Just go in and take a chance and you will not be disappointed.

Best Authentic Thai Food in London. You Know a Thai restaurant is good when Thai people eat there. I am from Thailand, and have eaten Thai food all over London but never as good as at cats. If you want real authentic Thai food it has to be cats. Take it from a Thai who loves to eat. Easy 5*, and service comes with a smile. Best Thai food outside of Thailand.

Fascinating authentic Thai decor and furniture with quite a large range of meals to suit sweet to hot pallettes. Definitely a warm and friendly welcome. If you want a reguladine out yo make your own - this is it.

Went with family for a birthday. Atmosphere was good, alot of interesting art, had to wait for my food and drink for a while eventhough the rest of my table had everything they wanted, it was fairly quiet as well... Other than that i had a good night with family and staff were very friendly and polite

So here's a confession, I don't really enjoy Thai food that much, just a bit meh for me when Ive eaten it out in the UK. The beef masaman curry I had here is by far the best Thai food I've ever eaten, it was so so good. Also while I was there they were blasting out Irish folk music,the interior is a mix of traditional Thai stuff. Family photos and uk royal family memorabilia. The tables and chairs with the leopard skin pillows feels very African. Sounds confusing but it all somehow really worked! There were regulars in there having a good time with the staff they were friends with. I really really honestly felt I was abroad when I was in there. The place is full of curiosities and joy. Loved the food. The decor and the vibe. Order the beef massaman and try to tell me with a straight face youve had better in the UK.

Despite what Google reviews says, this niche restaurant is not closed on Tuesdays but open 7 days a week providing excellent quality food with a first class service from the kitchen delivered in style by the multi talented bar and dining manager Ryan and his team.

I have been going occasionally to this restaurant for several years. On my last visit the food and service were still quite good as always in the past. However, with the latest price increases the basic set meal has now become £25 each and with a 12.5% service charge is added to the bill automatically and so I am now viewing it as becoming something of a luxury venue.

Fantastic, friendly and unique family-run restaurant, with a beautiful decor, and delicious food and good understanding of allergens. (I have to eat gluten free, and staff were very helpful, and there was lots of choice available). We will definitely be visiting again.

Around £25 a head. The starters were nothing special, but the Chicken Panang curry saved the day.

Tried the vegeterian set for two - it was decent. Not the best quality if this is what you are after.

Great restaurant, I often visit when I'm in Finsbury park, very reasonable prices, pineapple rice is a must have.

This is one of the very very few things I miss about London. Good food, sensibly priced and a great atmosphere. I came here a few times when I lived in Harringay and kept treking up the Victoria Line to visit it when I moved to South London. Can't go wrong with it and I haven't found a worthy replacement since moving to Bristol

Great little find . Very welcoming and food was great . We stumbled across this place just looking for a quick bite to eat . Would visit again

My only negative would be that the portion sizes were not great, but the food was delicious and noodle dishes were still under £10 a portion. Also we loved the environment, the furniture and decorations gave the restaurant a really lovely environment, and the staff were really nice and seemed to be family run. (Pad Kee Mao pictured)

Food tasted great, very friendly service and a very nice atmosphere, went in on a Friday evening with no booking and they were able to accommodate us.

I am about you tell you something really stupid: I avoided going into Cats for the past 3 years cause I actually thought the restaurant had CATS🫣🥲 and I am terrified cats! Anyway, worth the wait. More than the food the hospitality was A1 and I have to mention Dang- a sweet sweet lady who feeds you like your ma/grandma would! Sweet smile and so enthusiastic about her job! Coming to the food- The Menu is detailed and lots to choose from. I had a green thai curry- which was ok. The coconut rice was really good and a must try! We also ordered a vegetarian started platter which was filling and alot of variety. The vanilla shake is also nice. Good seating and the place soon filled up! But again do drop by for Dang!

Great atmosphere, wonderful service and good food. I had the fishcakes as a starter and they weren't that great to be honest. The duck curry, however, was absolutely delicious. The pandan rice wasn't anything special either... I think for me the thing that stood out most was the service. Lovely bunch, plus interesting decor.

The staff are accomodating, the food on par with what you'd expect from a cheap takeway Thai resturant. Our food was a little hit and miss, whilst the majority of the dishes were nice you couldnt help feel most of the food wasnt freshly prepared such as the sticky rice (more like a boil in the bag). The adverage cost per person was £25 which is good, a 'no frills restaurant' despite the beautiful wooden, chunky furniture and complimentary art decor. The restaurant is a little grubby and would benefit from a freshing up, especially the toilets. The dishes are not authentic Thai...but a watered down version. If you're on a tight budget, its the place to go but if youre looking for authenticity and a nice venue, its a 👎.

My wife and I were hungry and when we saw this little place we decided to give it a try even though we had never tried Thai cuisine before. We weren’t disappointed. We had a shared started that consisted of ribs,battered prawns,fish cakes,spring rolls and 3 sauces which were very good and tasty. My wife had a Thai chicken curry and I had the sizzling meat platter we also added rice which came as a separate side dish. It was thoroughly enjoyable and there was plenty of both dishes. The service was a little slow but the waiter was on his own and it was busy,we thought he did very well in the circumstances. He was very polite and efficient. It wasn’t to pricey and all in all a very good dining experience. If we’re ever in the area again we would definitely visit .

Authentic Thai food in a quirky setting. The tuk tuk at the front of the restaurant sets the scene for this themed environment with a twist. There’s lots of additional memorabilia with a focus on cats. Good amounts of food at decent prices and great service. All the usual Thai favourites and decent cocktails too.

I came here 5yrs and the food is still fresh and delicious! Visit with my family and everyone enjoyed their meals even had no complaints from a fussy eater lol. I Would definitely eat here again and would recommend the pineapple fried rice!

Don't let the choice of name put you off... The food was 'purr'fect! Amazing starters, I especially liked the Thai Fishcakes. Chilli chicken stir fry and Chicken Panang curry for mains were as good, if not better, as any I've had previously. 5* and well deserved!

Went for Lunch there with a large group yesterday - It was lovely!! We had all heard about the Tilapia and were not disappointed when we ate it! I had mine with the Cats Special Fried Rice - and was extremely satisfied!!! You know when your stomach is full, your taste buds satisfied and you just want to lean back and smile? That was Me! Add to that a very generous host (good phone photographer) who catered to all our multiple needs, lovely staff and wonderful background music. I will come all the way from south London again for this! Thank you Cats Cafe des Artistes!!!

Have been going to Cats for years, but only went again last night since 2019, due to Covid etc, will be making this a regular again!! Food was outstanding, staff lovely and friendly, drinks reasonably priced, had forgotten how good it is there!!! The place was packed, which obviously reflects the food and service!! *****

Have been coming to Cats for the last 11 years since moving to the area. Always loved the decor, the staff has always been friendly. I’ve even ordered delivery during lockdown. My favourites of this place has always been the Tom kha soup (great for those who can’t eat too spicy), massaman beef (they have good chunks of beef, that seems to have been marinated/cooked over a long period in the curry, great for people who can’t eat too spicy, but avoid if you can’t/don’t eat peanuts). Other dishes I enjoy are their pandan leaf chicken, tilapia in their house special sauce, fish cakes… Their sweetcorn cakes… thought they were made differently before, but wasn’t too appealing after eating one this time. My other favourite that goes well with the curry is their coconut rice, though reduced a star coz my recent visit seemed like the rice wasn’t cooked in the coconut milk, but instead had been mixed in after ordering so not as fragrant and less tasty, which was the let down 😢 Oh and I always like getting a mango and orange sorbet shake - so refreshing 😋

Came across this Thai restaurant while working away, I found it to be good value for money with great tasting dishes. Friendly staff and God atmosphere.

Used to go here regular, one of favourite Thai restaurants. My starter was squid rings cooked to perfection, melt in your mouth, best I have in years and satay chicken skewers were soft, tender and delicious. The mains were equally stunning. Staff were very friendly. Loses a star on decor, from luxurious it now looks dated and tired.

Have been here a few times. Good food, good vibes, nice people working there. Always polite and cheerful..

We come here quite often, both to dine in and order takeaway. Food is always great, generous portions and great flavours - both dine in and takeaway. The vegetable tempura is the best. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and remember things like what we order etc which makes us feel welcome The decor has been freshened up which compliments the inside - lovely unique solid furniture, lots of pictures feels very homely We had a takeaway recently and it was great with fast delivery, dining in as a group of 6 on Friday and cant wait, wouldn't have chosen any other restaurant to take guests to. The only thing I would say is their cocktail menu could be expanded. As the daquiris are the best, different flavours would be great!

Wow, talk about taking me back to Thailand. The food is amazing and authentic. If I close eye’s and focus on the flavours, I feel like I’m in Bangkok. The owner has done his best to make the interior decor just as important as the food, making this truly a special dining experience. Can you believe it? All the furniture was imported over from Thailand! They even have a Thai Tuktuk in the front. I love this place, and to top it all off…. You won’t get better customer service elsewhere. The staff are amazing. They even have a back area with a fish pond where you can hold private parties. An Easy 5 Stars and a must try!

We ordered 3-taste Tilapia fish, charcoal grilled king prawns, a green prawn curry and a prawn egg fried noodle, plus rice all round and the papaya chilli salad. Absolutely beautiful, complex and clean flavours on all counts and amazing sauces. Really fast delivery and brilliant value.

We've been coming here for mamy years. The food is delish, I love the decor of the place and the staff are friendly and helpful.
