Panda Garden Chinese Takeaway in Manchester

** update ** We’ve ordered from here for many years but the Order is getting later every time. When I phone to question where it is I get fobbed off. We’ve had issues in the past with meat being in non meat options but I thought I’d give them another chance. This time, however, we specified in the notes ‘vegetarian - no meat’. It came riddled with prawns, pork and chicken. Had this not been noticed prior to serving it could have had serious health issues for the recipient. This seems to be a repeat issue (see previous review). I phoned but was brushed off. Shocking behaviour! Don’t bother - they seriously don’t care! This is the last time I order from here. ** We’ve ordered many times from here and it used to be nice. But the last several times the delivery has been really late. Tonight we ordered - it took 1.5 hours - not the 40 mins predicted and when it eventually came the vegetable curry was not even a curry and one of them had chicken in! This could be fatal for someone who can’t eat it (like me!). I complained and after some pressing on my part they eventually replaced the vegetable curry - although it was really only water chestnut & bamboo shoots no other vegetables! I had to phone my order in as Ordering online is a bit weird as the vegetarian selection is very poor - hardly any choice and lots of ‘mock’ chicken or duck??! No sign of a vegetable curry! This is an experience I won’t be repeating. Very poor indeed.

It’s alright, like standard Chinese takeaway alright, but what would cost £35 max at a standard Chinese is £70. Chucking 24 spring rolls on the order doesn’t make for better value

I ordered delivery on Tuesday 11th February, Satay Duck, Salt & Pepper Chips and the Mixed Starter. All of which I did not enjoy to the point I had very little of it to eat, I rang to let them know I was not happy with my order. I felt that the response I got was very hostile and accusatory, after explaining, I was told if I wanted a refund I need to bring the food back as long as there was more than half left. As I had only had a rib, a piece of prawn toast and a few mini spring rolls, and paid £30.07 for food I did not enjoy, I took the food back. I was told I’d get my refund in 3 working days and left. I was then called back to tell me to cancel the order on the app, however, as the order said it was on its way that was not possible. So I returned to the restaurant to show the lady behind the counter and she saw for herself. Seeing this problem, she took a picture of my phone and showed me my receipt and told me to contact Deliveroo to get my refund. I did so that same evening at around 9:30pm, by this point Panda Garden had closed, and explained to the customer service employee my situation and she left the restaurant a voicemail explaining that they are the ones who need to give me my refund and told me to contact them the next day. Today I rang them, and was told that Just Eat had completed the order so I couldn’t get a refund. I told her that that was incorrect as first of all, I ordered through Deliveroo, and second of all I had spoken with her in person and she said I would have the refund. She then told me to go on to the app and state that I had never received the order and I would get a refund. Instead, I rang Deliveroo customer service again. I explained the situation, and was passed on to the escalation team. They had contact with the restaurant and then came back to tell me that the manager was refusing to give me a refund, even though I had returned the food, majority of which was genuinely untouched and the pots were full. After hanging up, I called the restaurant again and was told by the same lady that I spoke to yesterday and today that she has spoken to Deliveroo about a minute before I rang and told me that she has put the order through for a refund and it will take 3 working days. I explained what I had been told by Deliveroo and she repeated herself, so I said that if I have not received my refund by Friday (3 working days after I returned the food) I would be going down to the restaurant in person (again) to get my refund. I do hope I will be receiving my refund, as I am just currently taking her word for it, and that this place of business treats their customers with more respect. Will not be ordering from again.

I’ve order from here many times and it is always very good! The staff are lovely and friendly. Very food quality for the price ☺️

First time customer. Not impressed. Greasy, tasteless spring rolls not improved by the dipping sauce. Stodgy fried rice (big clumps of stuck-together rice) and a very ordinary beef curry (though there were more beef strips than I was expecting). Gave up on the beef curry halfway through. Was it remotely worth the £18+ spent? Since half of it went in the bin, no, not at all. Won't be back.

Absolutely disgusting food stay clear

Food was fine, arrived hot, and they'd thrown some extra spring rolls in (thanks), but we ordered just before 8pm and arrived at 21:40. Wouldn't have been a problem if we weren't told 35-55min and the estimated delivery time gone over twice

We’ve ordered regularly and always found Panda Garden to be top drawer. Not sure if chef has changed, but this time things were not as perfect as previously taste wise. Still better than most and hope next time it will regain old standard. I presume that, as the order was so large, we were given an extra freebee which was salt and pepper tofu which we would never have ordered voluntarily, but which was surprisingly tasty. That and the vegetable rolls are to be recommended.

Ordered here before and it’s been lovely , but the seeweed was full of sugar , and the noodles where way to salty

Ordered for the first time, food came so quick. Crispy beef was really crispy 😋 so we really enjoyed that. Portions were big. Special fried rice was enough for 3-4 same with the crispy beef. Quality of meat in the food was good. Only grumble was the ribs were dry and overcooked. But would still recommend.

never been to this place before, stopped on a wim, ordered s&p chicken wings and special chowmain, s&p really nice much bigger portion than expected, however the special chow was very disappointing, really big portion but was all vermicelli, the beef and chicken was inedible and the two prawns massively over cooked, the whole thing was £17 sadly a complete waste of money as most of money as most of it was thrown away, sorry about this les s-j

Another 5 star takeaway from thee mighty Panda Garden! Delicious veggie food. Fresh and tasty, as ever. As ever, Panda Garden rocks! Go noodles, mushrooms, salt and pepper tofu, and their satay skewers. Much love ‘til next time.

Food was lovely driver was nice and polite

Food just didn't taste fresh. The rice, noodles and chicken curry were ok but the sweet and sour chicken was a bit tough. The salt and Peper chips tasted stale. The starters weren't very nice, they tasted re heated and tasted like they had maybe been cooked yesterday. Overall a bit disappointing.

The food was acceptable, although a bit cold and had to warm it up myself and Understanding the takeaway may be busy but the food was showing as delivered 20 minutes before it was actually delivered. I called the takeaway to enquire to be told the driver is on his way to me but even still the food came 10 minutes later than the whole time it takes from the takeaway to my house. I understand that these places might press the button to show delivered within the timescale stated for their ratings but just be upfront and say you are running late otherwise a paying customer is left lied to and disappointed.

Food was not as warm as I would expect but delicious all the same

Usually exceptional, something has happened in the last 2 weeks with food not quite as fantastic and generous as normal and delivery being (very) late. Please get back to normal quickly as you can be so fantastic and have been for months and months.

Been waiting for a delivery for over an hour. No answer when I try to call, Deliveroo just says 'no tracking available'. DO NOT use this restaurant, you will be left hungry.

Kept changing delivery time and added on over an hour then said delivered and didn't receive food. Really poor. Contact phone kept going straight the voicemail.

The food was a little bit late, which is understandable on a Friday night, but it arrived hot and was really delicious. Great having the mock chicken options. Friendly delivery driver and good service on the phone. Definitely recommend. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Terrible food. The duck tasted bad, the rice was disgusting. The rice was dark brown in colour, whereas I’d ordered egg fried rice. My cat ate the duck.

Went to wrong street, took over an hour to arrive. Terrible delivery service. This was despite 2 calls to the takeaway to tell them Exactly Where I lived.However, points given for ringing me and staying on the phone till the delivery man got the right street. Food Great. But they DO need to improve attitude of delivery service and deliver to the CORRECT street.

The food was tasty but the beef was very tough.

This is the second time I've been disappointed with the quality of the food I ordered. Something rolls were soft and the house rice was dreadful. The rice wasn't freshly made and the meat tasted days old. Had a small amount and chucked everything else in the bin! Won't be ordering again.

Ordered and food was on its way after 4 mins. Definitely not cooked fresh. Chicken was chewy, egg fried rice had literally just had scrambled egg put on top of it in the container. Seaweed was the best but.

The speed at which the food was delivered probably explains the quality. Honestly the worst take away meal I can remember eating. Chicken tasted off, the rice was a lukewarm block and the chips were a pile of grey mush. Disgusting. Didn't get through more than a few mouthfuls.

My absolutely favourite Chinese - the mock chicken is delicious every time and they always send veggie spring rolls instead of prawn crackers!!! Ordered something non-veggie for the first time today too and they even called to check I meant to order it instead of veggie. Highly recommend!!!

Very tasty and crispy takeaway food, nice that they sometimes offer a free side when you open for delivery. And well thought out that they cut the corners of the dry takeaway lids so they don't get soggy on arrival. Goes an extra step, recommended

Arrived super quickly, delivery person was really friendly. When ordering, the prices seemed a bit higher than I would expect for Chinese takeaway but when we received it, we saw why! The portions are HUGE and the food is delicious! We also got prawn crackers and spring rolls for free- thank you 😊
