Not worth the money you pay and waiter kept leaning over our food to clear plates after we asked him not too

Would actually never return to this place. Staff are rude. Food is far to salty and small portions and they don’t like giving you fresh cutlery A ready meal from a supermarket would be better. The shredded duck was not shredded it was like mash. Vile I really don’t understand how people are rating this place anything higher than a one star !!! The one on old Harlow is far better And a 8.90 service charge - don’t think so ! We refused to pay that as there was no service at all !!! The only decent staff is the women who works there. Honestly we nearly walked out.

I paid £8 for salt & pepper squid & it was awful there was no squid in there just disgusty & expensive

The old Paklok would get 5*s. This one is good, just not as good. Just as good I'd not better than the others in the town and Sawbridgeworth.

Went for a large group meal plenty of variety all food piping hot, price was very reasonable are returning again soon

This has been our go to traditional Chinese takeaway for a long time. Recently refurbished and under new management but still offering excellent food.

I went here for an evening meal, food was amazing, staff friendly and helpful, the only thing was the starters didn't all come out together and we had to wait for one of the main meals otherwise its a lovely restaurant.

Iv been going to pak lock since the early 80s, shocked that wing and Simon have retired but the new guys have kept the place and food exceptional, our meal tonight was fantastic and the new staff are excellent, I'm definitely going to keep coming back and hopefully will see wing and Simon in there for a drink

A fantastic meal had today. The service was great and so was the food! It was Chinese New Year and my 6 year old was given £10 in a red envelope which was absolutely lovely! Highly recommend and we will definitely be returning !

Welcome back to Paklock, eat in. Food was as good as pre covid, they have re decorated which looks great.

Very nice meal here today. Although I've been coming here since 1970, this was the first time under the new management & since they reopened on November 2, 2022. The outside & inside has had a needed makeover paint wise & it's very nicely set out. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary so a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc was the first thing ordered & it went down pretty well! Wifey had salt & pepper ribs while I tried the barbeque ribs in bar-b-q sauce. This was followed up by chicken in garlic & a plain chow mein for wifey & I had the chicken chow mein. We both agreed it was a gr8-8-8-8 meal all round, with good service & a nice place all round. We will be having more of this establishment & recommending to others.

Apart from the decor changing massively the food is just as fabulous as it always was! So glad to see it back, Harlow has definitely missed and needed them to reopen, hands down the best place to get Chinese food! They have done a fabulous job of the makeover of the dining rooms, just need some ornaments for the fishes now! They also have a alcohol license now too

Not much of a change with the new owners. The place looks very similar, with a lick of paint and new chairs it's very similar. Enjoyed the meal, prices have gone up but I suppose it's only in line with most restaurants. Overall, an improvement on what it used to be.

Nice welcome when arriving, drinks and food ordered and served quickly. Food was nice but no plate warmers so food in dishes went cold . The restaurant is quite big and we found it to be very cold, a over door heater may help as the draught also come up from downstairs.

Place is a 1970's time warp but the food is the best Chinese in town by a long way and service is very good. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Place is often packed out which tells you everything you need to know.

Best chilli beef and ribs in gravy ever , I love it here and have been coming here for years .People have left bad reviews but I have eaten here over 30 times and have always left happy and full up. Decor is a little dated but don't be put off ,food is great

Great food absolutely delicious and friendly service only 1 beer on tap the rest bottles , decor 80's style like being in a restaraunt sketch in only fools has a quirky charm . All ways makes me feel nostalgic as has not changed since the 80's very clean and bright and kept clean, well worth a visit fir a sit down . Great crispy beef

Lovely fresh food. Nothing left standing, everything piping hot, light and. Exciting tastes. Really good service... so polite and prompt. Plenty of room, well laid out dining area. Highly recommended.

Good to see that it has raised its hygiene rating, food is of good quality but staff were shouty and loud and a lot of bad language. Staff were talking with who must be a regular local and the place was empty but I was there with some friends and it seemed excessive

The Decor is the same now as the day I first went for my 13th birthday. 39 years ago. I've always said this is the best Chinese I've had anywhere in the world... Chilly beef, salt and pepper Prawns are wonderful.

Great Food and service. Very reasonable price,(update) have been coming back whenever we feel like a Chinese in harlow, and a couple of instances felt service was 4 star due to waiting times and some empty glasses, we keep the 5 star review as 90% service is great.

Love this place although it isn't modern it's very homely and the food is lovely, staff are all friendly and the price is very reasonable, nice atmosphere.

Dont let the ageing decor put you off,service and food are top quality.

The food is delicious here and we often choose this as our go-to Chinese restaurant. It's not ideal for my niece, who is in a wheelchair, as there is no lift and the actual restaurant is up two flights of stairs, so she has never visited but has taken advantage of their takeaway service instead. The staff are very friendly and don't rush you at all. The decor is a bit tired but you forgive them that as the food is so tasty.

I lived in Harlow for 3.5 years and all the years I did, I went to another Chinese high end restaurant in Old Harlow which I was extremely happy with, but a neighbour recommended Paklock and so did an estate agent (guess should have known better from that). "Food is so good", they said. "It's cheap", they said. "Decor is so 70s but it's an institution". So the week before I moved out of the area I took myself along to get a takeaway (they don't deliver) and ordered, I mentioned to them that I have never ordered from them but hear it's good. "best in 'arlow" some lady overhearing me piped up. "that's good" I said and sat down waiting. Got home, tucked in, was really nice. Not Zenz (oops there I just gave away my favourite Chinese takeaway) good but it would do. My other half finished his food and I'm looking at his plate, what do I see, two black clearly not ours - HAIRS. What the £!?# I said to him is that a hair? He said "hairS yes". I said "oooooh nooooo" i felt so bad. Thing is, what do you do in this situation. You may say take it back but really, I lived in Church Langley (not exactly round the corner) and realistically are they going to take ownership for a hair? What are they going to do? And I really don't want free food. Gosh no. Plus I was leaving. So I swore quietly and thought TRUST YOUR OWN INSTINCTS CLAIRE. THIS is why I don't go to places that have less than 4/5 food hygiene rating and Paklock is 3/5. Just don't so it! Cheap Chinese food is not a selling point. What a shame... (and an awful farewell gift).
