Tasteless food. Worst kosher Chinese I’ve eaten. Chicken Szechuan was the worst dish I have ever bought. It went in the bin

Very small portions and very, very expensive. Left still hungry and with a much lighter wallet £270 for 4 people

It's appreciated that kosher food and its preparation incur additional costs. Even so, this meal wasn't worth the money. Over £160.00 for four people, two alcoholic drinks, no starters. Just four portions of mains, plus a desert. The food quality was good, but the portions were fairly small. Service was adequate, though amateurish. It's not really a dining out experience. The restaurant is drab. By the end of our meal, the waitress was ironing tablecloths in the actual restaurant. Can't recommend at any level unless this establishment seriously ups its game.

Everything is cooked fresh so you have to be patient but it is worth waiting for The prices are fair considering the good quality. The atmosphere is informal and friendly

Won’t be going back Tiny portions (main meal was in a side dish) Food ok …..just ok I questioned the service charge and she didn’t even blink Poor value and complacency you expect from kosher places combined with Chinese frostiness Avoid

The place was crowded, it took ages untill the food came, horrible service and super expensive for what you are getting. 16£ for 5 tiny chicken that didnt taste good. Do yourself a favor and go to another place. Defenetly not going to go back.

if there would have been 0 i would have given 0. went with my parents and partner to try this out whilst on a short visit to manchester, and was negaatively surprised. the food took ages to come, and it was greasy and oily and we had to send three dishes back the portions were tiny, and there was no service. as for cleanliness, we all got dirty cutlery, with old dried food on it. would have gotten up on the spot but already ordered mains... however the mains were tiny, dry, chewy and did not taste good. i came home hungry.

Wanted to treat my family to kosher Chinese takeaway from Pagoda. We hadn't used them since they were at their previous address. We decided on the 2-course special which included a choice of starters a main course with a side dish together with a large portion of crispy duck with pancakes etc. Considering the cost of kosher meats and supervision the costs weren't too high at £14pp plus a further £14 for the duck. A pity the other dishes off the set menu were far more expensive. The quality and portion sizes were just about "OK" and the collection time was accurate.

Two visits to report on here: We came here as a celebration for my daughter’s exam results,as it’s her favourite restaurant - and not without good reason. The food is always good here, and the portions are great. My spring rolls were tasty and filling - and lovely and crispy. My main course of sweet and sour chicken was good, although it was so brightly-coloured that the artificial colouring almost put me off (and nearly blinded me!). The chicken chow mein went down well too, as did my son’s burger (at least it shows that they cater for all tastes!). As the restaurant got busier, the service became a touch inattentive, but the waitresses were all very friendly, and overall, as usual here, this was a good experience. Second visit in this review was tonight, just my daughter and me. Again, the food was very good, with delicious hot and sour soup, served hot and in a large bowl. My daughter’s duck went down well, and our main courses were good too - delicious beef chow mein (again) and a very nice chicken in honey and lemon sauce. The food is thrown at you a bit, and you’re easily in and out within the hour, and a bit more warmth in the service wouldn’t go amiss. I also noticed that hardly any of the other guests wore masks when walking in or out, which was actually quite annoying - I did hear the boss telling some takeaway guests that they needed to wear masks, but it didn’t seem to have much effect.

Came for lunch. Seems we were towards the end of it as they brought our starter with our main courses. We asked if they could bring out one at a time (like anywhere else) and they said no. In addition the actual food tasted like it was being kept warm for hours Would not return

Why should this kosher restaurant exploit the Jewish customer by increasing prices by 20% and in every person that eats there’s a 10% service change it’s Ridiculas and greedy definitely put me off returning It also dosnt say on web site the extra money is changed So the early bird is advertised as £16 3 course but actually £17.60

Pagoda has recently relocated to it's present site. I was pleasantly surprised at the smart surroundings and comprehensive menu. They have a lunchtime and early bird menu, however we went in the evening. The service was good and food was tasty and fresh and well seasoned. The portion sizes were good , we shared 5 vegetable spring rolls with sweet and sour sauce and the main courses were well presented. I would certainly return and try the early bird menu next time!

we popped in before 6.p.m. with some trepidation, as my wifes sister had told us her friend didnt want to eat there ,due to poor reviews.we were very pleasantly surprised. we had turned up when an early evening menu was operative and i will confess to not liking chinese cuisine.there were only 8 people in the place at that time, but the service was quick and friendly and the food was a revelation(well at least it was for me)and my wife loved it.we cant wait to go back and it is a long time, since the pair of us have agreed on any thing so wholeheartedly, never mind food.

We were given a voucher to eat here. We are used to eating in 'proper' Chinese restaurants, so anyone who says this is a great place has never eaten in a normal Chinese, and only eat here because it's kosher. The prices were double, yes they need to include kashrut fees, but the prices are disproportionate. Staff can hardly speak English, zero atmosphere, no heating on and food was average. Unbelievably salty seaweed, definitely wasn't fried rice apart from some egg in it and really bland tasteless soft noodles that were rubbery and too thick. Spending £50 for 2 people to eat here is extortionate. without drinks. We apparently went £1.50 over the voucher but the waitress didn't mention the small amount after being given the voucher and said goodbye to us. We left and she came chasing after us after we got in the car, she made us feel like thieves and was totally humiliating, demanding £1.60 and a service charge adding up to nearly £7. Nowhere does it state there is a service charge, it is illegal to try to charge one without prior notice and will always be at the customers discretion, especially when there are only 2 diners. We refused to pay the service charge and rightly so. What rude people. Thank you for ruining what was supposed to have been a nice evening given as a gift after facing really tough times. By the way, you owe me 10p!!!!! Total chutzpah! (The question 'how expensive is this restaurant doesn't fit in this instance, it's fine dining prices for a mid-range place - and is this place Asian, well it's supposed to be but breaded mushrooms, israeli salad, etc., doesn't quite fit!)

On my last visit here, the staff were very unwelcoming and unfriendly. The food was poor, and very expensive. I will not be returning here, or to their new location. The restaurant was empty the day we went - but now I know why.

Although clean the restaurant was empty, we ordered food for 2 adults and a child, the starters were very salty and not especially tasty, the mains arrived and although tasted ok it did not warrant the extremely over inflated prices, we ordered fried rice but received boiled rice with some egg scattered within, we also ordered soft drinks at almost £2 each and was served cans, for 3 starters and 2 mains and a portion of chips the bill came to £79.. included was a service charge which was not advised or informed about previously of nearly £8, overall the food was average, the staff were attentive but the cost was extortionate for the received food, we have no intention of visiting again and understand why we were the only customers.

Food was not hot when served. Food was not freshly made, it was warmed up in a microwave. The pitta bread was a joke. Staff could hardly understand English. There is a 10% compulsory service charge which isn't mentioned in the menu. This place has gone downhill over the years. Very disappointing. Felt ripped off. Certainly not worth the cost of the huge bill.

Been here many times over many years. I’ve never had a problem with the food. Always good. The atmosphere could be better, and it’s not always as busy as one would expect bearing in mind there are so few kosher restaurants in manchester. Also happy to recommend the takeaways!

We go here regularly throughout the year. But on NYE we always go here without fail. The owner makes sure everything runs smoothly. The food tastes great and is fairly priced for what it is. One recommendation is to check your order, if all ok, then it’s really a good place to eat.

It all depends on your expectations. If you want metsuyan (Edgware/GG) ambience and food, then you'll be disappointed. If you want decent sized portions, reasonably fast service (with a couple of glitches as we waited to catch someone's attention) and a nice evening in Manchester, then you'll be happy. The Crispy beef and sweet and sour chicken were both tasty and the Crispy noodles were genuinely crispy without any sauce.

Very unwelcoming. Tables were booked from 8pm, it was only 5 45 and I said I wouldn't be more than an hour, I was put on a side table that clearly wasn't to be used. This happened to two more people after me. Then someone was turned away. There was only 7 people in! Surprise surprise 3 people then sat on the reserved table and got served, it wasn't the party that had booked it. Food came out, went back as it was wrong. Entertaining to say the least. My food was good not great. Portions were large. Chicken satay was my choice.

There aren't many places that would welcome you after 9.30pm on a Sunday night, but there was nothing untoward with the service we got tonight. Not with the food, which, as ever, was tasty, well-cooked and served in good-sized portions: for example, the spring rolls- where else can you get five as a starter?! The sweet n sour chicken was delicious, as was everything else. All served by polite, sweet waitresses for whom nothing was too much trouble. As on previous visits, the restaurant was worryingly empty, which is a great pity, and rather surprising, given that it's the only kosher Chinese for about 200 miles! But we found it faultless.
