Ovisher Indian Restaurant & Takeaway in Cherwell

Arrived early so restaurant quiet but soon after it rapidly filled. Plenty of service staff to take orders(s) and a very decent 2 course meal with a beer came in at at very reasonable price point. Overall very satisfactory.

Had a 50th wedding anniversary meal with family food was superb and a staff were excellent

Always order from this place, they even delivered to us on Christmas Day after a shift at work which was amazing. The food is always hot and tastes delicious never had a bad experience. Can’t wait to come in and have a meal soon :) also the delivery driver they have is also great

I moved recently in the area on high street. OVISHER is excellent. Food is fabulous, fresh and tasty. Service is good. 10/10

The taste of the food didn’t taste good. The byrani was tasteless, the korma was too sweet, the salted lassi was way too salty. The server switched the salted lassi for us to one that wasn’t too salty. The mango lassi and the curry that came with the byrani were okay. I wouldn’t have written a review, but after all that, we unfortunately got food poisoning. It’s been quite an unpleasant experience overall.

I ordered a mixed biriyani. It tasted like curry rice, lacking the biriyani fragrance! The rice was fluffy, but the meat tasted more like it was grilled than adequately prepared for biriyani. The price was reasonable compared to other Indian restaurants around.

It was a pleasant meal, four of us went in for dinner after not going for about 10 years. Only problem we had was we asked for duck tikka and when the meat came it was lamb, even though they promised it was duck. They swooped the meal over with no problem to chicken and this came out in a couple of minutes. Wouldn’t rush back but it was a pleasant Indian meal.

Food - below average. Ordered chips and samosa for starters, quality was as good as frozen products. Naan was not fresh, main course chicken and fish fishes were disappointing. The dish names and spices used don't match at all. Anyone aware of the dishes will be severely disappointed. Service - Poor service. Nobody came to ask about food quality. Main course came an hour after the starters. Food served only after reminders. Starter plates were still on table as they served main course. Only time someone checked was for drinks order at the end. Atmosphere - Poor. Music was too loud. Can't find any reason to go back.

It was very disappointing experience. We had Samosa and seekh kabab in starter, samosa was frozen samosa I use to buy from supermarkets. None of the dishes were good. Donot try their garlic chili chicken, there is no flavour of garlic and it was nothing close to chili chicken. Also chips i ordered for my baby was also just a regular frozen chips I buy from supermarkets. Table service was also poor, they didnot clear starter plates and started serving main course, our table was so messy, I just controlled my anger. The service was very poor, we have called before coming for the booking, they said its just walk in, and when we reached they said its full, have you booked any place...I don't think it is worth going there, such a poor resturant.

Regular customer at this restaurant, I keep coming back for the good food and good service. On Tuesday they have a banquet night which offers exceptional value for money, but do book it gets very busy. Takeaway and delivery is available on their website. Recommended.

Top service, we ordered a delivery for The Highwayman Hotel, which was on time ! The gentleman gave me a call when at the address as requested and very polite. Food was hot and oh so yummy ! I am looking forward to my next visit to Kidlington in 10 days so can try some other dishes ! Top 💯 🌟

We were waiting patiently on the arrival of our new baby who stubbornly did not want to arrive. One chicken madras later and true to the old wives tale the baby arrived the following morning!! Now, I don't think Ovisher can take full credit but we are definitely attributing it for its helping hand in the process.

Consistently good Indian food, where other restaurants have the occasional bad day, I have not experienced that at Ovisher in the 7+ years I've been visiting. Delicious and lovely staff.

Generous amount of delicious food for a great price on Tuesday Banquet Night!!! We took a friend who had never dined in an Indian restaurant here and he loved it as well. Highly recommend.

Lovely friendly staff and cosey atmosphere. Kept up with a big group booking with ease. I even got my favourite bread aloo paratha made specially for me, which wasn't on the menu 😋

We had Tuesday Banquet offer. The foods were delicious and service is so nice too. That price is so reasonable and would like to try again. This is not an expensive restaurant all other items are reasonable. My recommendation is try if you love spices!!

What can I say !! The curry was excellent, I had a lamb passanda, my husband had a lamb tikka massage. There was plenty and very tasty. Highly recommend this place . The old man Azid ( haha) was very friendly. Xx

Top class Indian food, one of the best meals we've had in years. Beautifully balanced spices and herbs, excellent naan and coupled with wonderful service and ambience.

My first Indian Restaurant it was superb! The food was delicious. We didn't have to wait long for meals to be served, everything flowed. The service was good our servers kept checking up on us and were very friendly. We will 100% be coming back!

It’s an amazing place to dine out. The service provided was fabulous by attentive waiter. Ovisher Lamb Bahar tasted delicious so was the saag paneer. Highly recommend Ovisher to try authentic Southasian cuisine.

My number one option for Indian takeaway. Food is tasty and portions are generous.

Food was good. However please note that they charge for the sauces that come with the popadum. We did not order the sauces. It’s nowhere stated in the menu. They removed it when I complained. Manager was extremely rude when i pointed this out.Cunning manager caught red handed! He even tried to overcharge us for the mains. Please check your bill before leaving

Our favourite go to for Indian takeaway. Highly recommend the onion bhaji’s, butter chicken, luxury mixed kebab and the pickle tray with papadums. Delicious, always on time and never cold

If you have , Indian/ bangali taste buds , maybe you will not like the food . We tried Biriyani , it was worst , tasteless and there was no smell of biriyani in fact . For biriyani 1/5 . But their starter Papadam is fantabulous . Must try . Very cheap in price . It was served with some sauces ( during billing , we came to know we needed to pay for that sauce , they didn't inform us earlier & we didn't order this as well ) . However , the sauce was really really great . For papadam and sauce 5/5

Ordered dinner for my family, took over 2 hrs for the delivery and it arrived barely warm. Not one bit amused, not even an apology. Won't be ordering from here again.

Excellent food & service as always. An impressive range of expertly cooked Indian Cuisine offered for a very fair price in an exceedingly clean, tidy & well run local business. Staff are all on top of their game & know how to delight their doubtless large number of loyal punters.

Consistently good curry. Have ordered countless times over the past decade or so and it has always been good. Only criticism would be that the pickle tray is not what it once was - what happened to chunky lime pickle, chilli pickle etc? This doesn't seem to be a problem unique to the Ovisher. Most restaurants have abandoned the traditional pickles in favour of samey, sweet sauces of varying shades of neon. Great curry overall though.

Waiting for over a hour for starter,had to ask for it.cant really rate the food did not get any,was showed to a table no one else wanted, wobbly right outside the toilet.service was horrendous, walked out went to ghurka palace up the road actually got served.wont be going back to the ovisher.

At short notice, we asked if they could cater for a party of 11. Within 5 minutes, they had obliged! Had a variety of very nice Indian dishes. Even the grandkids enjoyed it. Thanks for the excellent service!

Went with a few lads from work if you go on a tuesday a banquet meal is 12.95 instead of 26, meal was very good and enjoyed everything would defo go again.

Without doubt the worst curries I have ever tasted. I bought takeaways from this resterant many years ago when I lived in the area & thought they were fantastic. Today however, they are disgusting. I moved to the other side of Oxford many years ago & thought I would treat myself to something special. I contacted Ovisher to ascertain if they would deliver so far away, when Ovisher confirmed they would, I bought £80+ worth of curries without rice as rice is so easy to make at home. Big mistake never to be repeated. Although I bought several dishes, they all tasted bland & virtually the same. Whoever has been writting good reviews, either hasn't had an Indian curry before, or the reviwes are fake & family posted....I suspect.

The prices have gone up which I understand give the current crisis. What I don't understand is why you only only get a few tiny scraps of lettuce which were mostly brown, 1 slice of cucumber and 1 slice of tomato in the qmins luxury kebab?

Very very poor customer service. They promise delivery within a specified period of time to secure the order but in reality take much much longer and when confronted become abrupt and very very rude. Very poor!

Four friends had lunch at the Ovisher Restaurant last Thursday. We had a wonderful meal, we were served by a charming helpful waiter and we really enjoyed our visit.

Great food and Tuesday night banquet offer is amazing value.

Astounded by the shocking customer service, group of 10 of us weren't even given menus for 45 minutes despite asking 3 times, starters came out quick but after an hour of waiting we asked where the mains were and got ignored, asked if we could have our food in to go boxes due to the wait, when we finally got the food a, further 30 minutes later, it was missing a main and multiple sides. All 4 staff members ignored us most the night, no apologies for the delay or any update on how long it would be (the restaurant wasn't overly busy). They seemed perplexed that we were unhappy with the service, never been treated with such disrespect in a restaurant! An 8pm booking and we eventually left at 10.30 without having eaten, would give 0 stars if google allowed

Best Indian Restaurant that I've eaten in. The restaurant is extremely clean and welcoming. The tables are not too close to each other. The food was absolutely fantastic and deserved 5 stars of it's own! The Staff are extremely attentive, friendly and proper characters. I absolutely will be using the Ovisher Indian Restaurant again and thoroughly recommend it.

Having booked a month in advance & having rung on the day to confirm booking. They appeared to have lost it. Was shoved on a table right by the door which was being opened constantly. I appreciate they were busy but a wait for 25 mins just to order drinks was not good service. We were really considering going elsewhere. We did stay. The food was good but the service left a lot to be desired, especially as it was booked for a birthday celebration.

Unexpected find when on the lookout for dinner. Restaurant was exceptionally clean and the staff were welcoming and friendly. The food was made as requested, with generous portions and above average quality. Great value for money, and a highly reccomended takeaway in the area.

Food here is decent, most annoying is the old man there.. constant walking around, rush to clear the table , bending all over the table to reach that one empty plate ..just give us a bit privacy so we can enjoy our food..

Do not order if you have an allergy. We ordered a delivery which contained fish bhuna curry and asked for it to be made with salmon as not permitted to eat the Bangladeshi fish. The top on the container said salmon but the container definitely wasn't. When I phone to say they'd been an error they had the audacity to say that I was incorrect. I asked them to remake the item but they continued to say I was incorrect. I asked for a refund. Agreed, and for the food to be left outside to be collected. Then a phone approx 10 minutes later to organise my refund and still stating I was incorrect as a 'new customer'. All their previous customers know this is 'salmon'. Stated the colour change is due to the marinade. It is impossible as we only ordered the food 30 minutes earlier. Child took one mouthful and said this doesn't taste of salmon. 15ish minutes later they were complaining of a bad stomach. I offered to email photos more than once, but they had no interest as said they have cameras in the kitchen and knew there had been no error. I'm concerned they need cameras in their kitchen monitoring their workers. I will never eat food from this restaurant again!!

If you want the runs and want to be unwell for a week try there.

Delicious food, huge selection including gluten-free, generous portions, really professional staff, we asked a waiter to take our photo and he took so much time to take a selection of photos for us. If I was local I'd be in here all the time!

I’m not too happy with the customer service of this restaurant. Me and my friend had booked a table at night. We were only 10 minutes late and they turned around and said they were closing. I had drove quite far to be told this and saw all the amazing reviews so I knew it was worth the drive. I am very disappointed about this. I always thought restaurants had to wait up until 10 minutes for their customers to arrive. I will not be booking to eat here again. We had a very long journey home with an empty stomach. Thank you.

We have frequented Ovishers several times over the last few years and have used Ovishers for our Christmas lunch for the last three years...However, this last Christmas lunch was disappointing and we won't be returning...I booked our table online, and in writing in September, so plenty of notice, I also contacted Ovishers on the day online, so you can imagine my surprise when we arrived at the restaurant with 6 other guests to find that our booking seemed to be lost, the table wasn't ready, others who came in after us were being seated before us and given menu's and drinks etc before our table was even set properly...we had to go to the bar to order our own drinks and ask for cutlery for our table, other tables were given their starters having arrived after us before we were given menus, so ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH and quietly we got up and complained, things improved slightly after our complaint, BUT you can imagine my surprise when I came to pay, to be informed at this stage (which had never happened before and I hadn't been informed on booking - remember all was in writing from both sides) that there was a set charge per person which increased the bill by £30/40. I didn't complain not wanting to spoil things for my guests given out disappointing/bumpy start to our Christmas lunch, BUT the look on the waiters face when I didn't leave a tip topped it all. SORRY OVISHERS NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

Thoroughly enjoyable meal here just before Christmas with friends. Best curry I've had in years! Took take away home for hubby too and he loved it!

Went to the Ovisher today lunchtime .1:35pm Lunch board outside , "OPEN" Light, flashing on door 3 of us went in & were told " we close at 2pm you have to go. Needless to say we won't be returning at any time. Geraldine

Good customer services and good food. Only downside is not exactly wheelchair accessible and no disabled toilet from what I could see.

Lush meal! Only had a quick stop whilst between appointments, service was slow at first but once they realised we wanted quick in and out that all changed. And the food was fantastic! I'm not local otherwise I would definitely visit again
