Up here for the football - fantastic pre match venue - cheap drinks - staff good. Mixture of both home and away fans, but of banter but all good natured.

Went in today for a drink, not from the area and we had a issue with our car we needed a new tyre. The landlord Louis was extremely helpful even called his local garage for us and got us a quote and booked in, so friendly. The pub was clean and well kept the staff was all friendly too. Highly recommend for a pop on to have a drink. Good prices for drinks too.

I used to frequent this place quite often since the refurb, but i won't be going back. The new manager/owner was completely smashed out of his face, insulting people i was with, not adhering to any of the covid rules, his own staff seemed more interested in trying to control him than help the customers, we were ordered to "get the f in" from outside but there were no tables to sit at.... I'm surprised he didn't get a punch in the face tbh. It will come over time i'm sure. Complete uproar from the customers already inside and an absolute joke of a place now. 20 or so regulars custom lost because of him.

Our Mutual Friends used to be a great pub. Sadly its standards have slipped and while its still good pub, its no longer a must-visit if you are in Stevenage. I was here for the football. The sound its 10 minutes walk away. Previously I have found the service great despite the large football crowds. This time it was a minimum five minute wait every time. The Bombardier was ok, bland, rather than bombastic beer.

What have 'they' done? If you are under 25 and drink larger, like loud music and screens all over the place this is the place for you - but for the rest of us who used to love this place with it's ever changing real ales and unique atmosphere it is now ruined. It has turned into a typical new town pub. i won't be going there again

Used to be a great traditional pub ,accommodating both young and old with a choice of bars and fine selection of ales and lagers .Now been ruined beyond belief, serving bar halved so always blocked ,now one big bar ,nowhere to have a quiet pint ,just in your face flat screens on every wall with additional speakers to make it louder ,all us old locals not welcome.

What more can I say, what a fantastic night!! The manager has a knack of knowing what her customers want and tonight was certainly welcomed. A vast array of drinks were available along with the 'family' atmosphere that regulars pride themselves on. I would strongly advise trying a themed party night as I've not been disappointed yet!

On the edge of a council estate you wouldn't expect to find good real ale. Well think again, sampling a row of session ales here is a worthwhile experience. I had friends with me from out of town so they appreciated the experience and are committed to return the next time they drop by. There are always guest beers on offer as well as the regular everyday lines. Sometimes food is available here though I've never timed it right. There is a car park for travellers and it's close to the Stevenage Borough FC ground. I'm looking forward to the next visit.

I visited with mates before a football match at Stevenage FC. The pub may not look much from the outside but it has a good feel inside. The pub was welcoming to both home and away fans. The choice of drinks is very good with a number of guest ales. The bar staff were friendly and very hard working. The pub is less than ten minutes walk from the ground but in the opposite direction from the rail station so it is at least a 30 mins walk from the station. Overall I would definitely recommend. My only complaint is that service was pretty good but we still had to wait at times (the pub was extremely busy). A couple extra bar staff would have been appreciated by the thirsty fans.

No cambia.

Our Mutual Friend appears in a football ground guide as being inviting for home and away supporters to appreciate some fine beers. It certainly lives up to this billing with friendly bar staff who are knowledgeable about the ales on offer. The punters represented a mixed range of generations with genuine friendship and welcome shown to visiting fans such as myself. A real gem of a place in a more unlikely area that you will never find!

I visited this pub on the first day of their beer festival. There were 10 beers on gravity and another 6 beers on draft. The ladies behind the bar were very pleasant and all with smiles, which makes a pleasant change. I tried several ales which were mainly from Nene Valley, all of which were in excellent condition. I did not try the food on offer, although a number of people were eating, so assume the food is good. Look forward to visiting the pub when next in the area.

The 'Mooch' looks from the outside like a typical new town estate pub, nothing to recommend it, no historical features, oak beams or horse brasses etc.but they have the best selection of beer for miles around. It's not a trendy 'eating' pub, it serves good 'pub grub' and the food service isn't the fastest you'll ever come across, but the main attraction is the six real ales that are well kept and continually being changed. There's usually a cheery greeting from the locals when you enter, it's a very happy pub, I consider this my local even though it's a six mile bike ride to get there. It sometimes gets very crowded, especially if Stevenage FC are playing at home.

Looks can be deceiving. On the outside a fairly ordinary looking pub and not in the best of locations. But inside lurks one of Stevenages hidden treasures. 6 - 8 Real Ales, a huge menu of Ciders and Perrys and good range of Lagers and Spirits too. All well cared for with a knowledgeable staff. A friendly atmosphere, even on match days the public bar has all the normal trappings of a modern pub. The lounge bar is a quiet haven of chat and subdued lighting. Regularly wins CAMRA awards and provides a good range of pub food (watch out for the "Hellfire" burger if you gave a weak disposition).

When you look at 'Our Mutual Friend' from the outside, it's an extremely unappealing building, probably built by the same designers that made high rise tower blocks.About as attractive as the football that Graham Westley plays at nearby Stevenage FC in fact. But thanks to prior research, I knew that greatness lurked within. As a cider fan, I was lapping up the choice of up to 17 ciders that they offered. They had my first 2 choices, which were all I had time for, as I was up the road at the football ground. The bar staff were friendly, the Stevenage fans are a good bunch and they show the televised football too, the perfect football pub.The only shame is that they don't offer something more substantial than bacon and sausage rolls, I chose to work off my 2 pints by walking the half hour into town, but would have liked to eat at the pub.

Not what you'd expect of an unappealing 60's building on a housing estate in Stevenage: an oasis of real ale. And not just real ales, but often unusual real ales to boot. The policy seems to be 'little and often', with the selection of 6/7 ales changing almost entirely between our lunchtime and evening visits on the same day. Good for variety, but occasionally frustrating when a particularly excellent beer is found, only to be 'off' even before one can have a second pint. Can't comment on the food, as this is restricted to weekdays. On the Saturday only crusty rolls are available, to soak up the beers.Has several Beer & Cider Festivals a year. Unsurprisingly, can boast frequent accolades from CAMRA.
