Very disappointed with choice of dishes, have had better food whilst on holiday in Turkey, also very noisy atmosphere couldn't hear what friends were saying.

Food was ok but it was quite costly. Situated in a nice place and looks good from outside.

Both soup and breakfast were great. The mixed breakfast is not as extravagant as we wanted, but it is satisfying. We loved the pita bread. If you are tired of eating dry food and sandwiches while traveling, like me, you should definitely try chicken soup. We liked the place very much. The kitchen was in the middle and spotlessly clean. The staff are very friendly and sincere. I would like to thank each and every one of them for their interest.

Our First time, the atmosphere is very nice, music not loud perfect for a diner with family. The service is impeccable, replace plate just after the starter and give drinks straight once order. The food was a disappoint as I was expecting such a good portion with an amazing taste for such a place rating at 4.2 but you can find so much better somewhere else at that price!!!!!!

Nice surroundings and great attentive staff. For me the food just didn't cut it I asked for recommendations. The prawns were hard and sauce was just plain tomato affair lacked any punch or spice. Arrived very fast so assume if wasn't made fresh. Mixed grill again didn't have any distinct flavour, adana was chewy and had sinew in the meat. Chicken was grilled and tasty.

Nice place, courteous staff however the food was just ok. We had lamb chops and ribs. The meat was not tender and juicy enough as it is at comparable places.

I went here with a few friends on a Friday night. It's a plesent place but seems to get busier then they can cope with. We arrived and waited around 25/30 mins before a drinks order was taken. Then another 10 before food. Staff are very friendly, if a little rushed. The place is also very clean. The food is ok, nothing to shout about really. I have had much better kebabs in much cheaper places. Everything everything is a little over priced for what you get. Although I can recommend the hummous and mixed kebab. I find it really hard to recommend this place with the wait we had between everything (even when we asked to pay).

Mediocre, I wouldn't recommend it. The nerves in the lamb skewer were not removed, we left Adana completely on the table.

A fall from grace! It really seems to be hit or miss unfortunately. I’ve had good evenings and bad evenings. Advisable not to go mid week as the staff are disorganised and flustered , even though it’s quiet there. I got served the wrong drink, then the wrong meal. I was there over an hour and had to leave in the end as it was pretty poor and I wasn’t getting anywhere, never got my food. Disappointed as this used to be my go to spot… I won’t be returning unfortunately.

Really Good Evening. Very nice and Freindly Staff. The place is different, and I like the disco lights that was moving around the ceiling and side and even on the chairs and yourself. Everything was top notch I have to say. The starters was delightful and these different humous and yoghort was really nice. The slices of bread were really good with it. Sac Kavurma was nice and had flavour to it. Meat was tender. And was nice in a iron plate as it was different. Next time if i have a chance to go again, I would have the adama with Yoghurt as that looked really good. Desserts 🍨 different ones, and nice chocolate ice cream something light to finish it off. Might go with the cheesecake or something next time. Thanks for having us guys, and see you soon..

We went here for dinner twice in the evening. The food was excellent and the service excellent. We didn't have a reservation either time and got a table. One evening we were outside in nice weather and there was great live music. I can't imagine there are many other restaurants in Southampton with this excellent quality.

Meat was good but lamb shish was quite fatty. Rice was very generic and bland. Bread was also good. Very expensive drinks. Also, why are they trading as Ottoman Empire but calling themselves ottoman kitchen?

What an experience Turkish breakfast with friendly staff in opulent decor. The plates kept coming such good value and beautifuly presented dishes.

Visuals where terrific. Service impecable. The food was ok good portions came quickly but I felt like the food was lacking in flavor in my opinion. I can recommend the smoked menu as I feel there is more flavor in the meat from the smoking

We visited this place before , and we always left happy and satisfied. Last Saturday this restaurant was busy and hectic. The staff were running around, all looking stressed and not paying attention to customers . My partners meal was dry , and pita bread was burnt and hard, and so was the chicken. When we asked for more beers we it took 30min to get it. We asked 3 different waiters if they could bring us more beers, until one of the waiters came over and brought us bottled beer instead of the draft one, it was clearly sitting opened for some time at the bar and he refused to bring us draft beer which we originally asked for. It felt like there was no structure when it came to service. Lots of waiters were running stressed. However, customers were not being looked after. After paying over £70 for 2 people we felt overwhelmed with poor service ,bellow average food and overpriced menu. They need to work on a better service , maybe stay calmer as it all looked like a circus out there.

The initial impression was rather underwhelming. The service staff appeared to be quite disorganized and chaotic in their movements. The food, considering the price, was average at best, with some dishes being dry and tough. Unfortunately, some item from our order were missing, and despite our attempts to inform the waiters, they seemed inattentive to our concerns. The highlight of the experience was the prompt removal of our drink glasses after we finished, but we were not offered any further refreshments. We found ourselves sitting at an empty table for approximately half an hour before deciding to take the initiative and request the bill ourselves. Even then, we had to wait an additional 15 minutes for the payment terminal to be brought to our table. The overall situation left us feeling quite trapped and uncomfortable. Regrettably, I cannot recommend this establishment based on our experience.

Since moving to the New Forest we have struggled to find a decent restaurant. We had dinner here on Saturday 15th June. As soon as we walked in we were warmly greeted - even the chef in the open cooking area waved at us which was nice. The restaurant has scented candles so smells very nice. The food was really well cooked and very tasty. The staff are very polite and very attentive. We were som impressed with our first visit here that we asked to speak with the Owner and Niyazi came over to speak with us. We provided feedback to him on our experience in his restaurant and he was very friendly and gave us some background on the restaurant. It is a very popular restaurant I suggest you book in advance. A Turkish restaurant worth trying! The atmosphere and service are excellent. If you go for dinner, you can eat until late. The restaurant is conveniently located on a central street in the city, making it easily accessible. The grilled lamb and beef are delicious. I plan to try the roasted lamb leg for next time.

My partner and I went on a Friday night around 8.15ish hadn’t booked but we managed to get a table, the place was full. The food was amazing 🤩 service was fantastic and the staff were very friendly, I’d highly recommend this place to anyone, when we’re back in Southampton we will definitely return.

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to all the staff for a lovely lunch on Saturday. We had booked and sat inside - the weather was lovely out but it was full out there and the booking was for inside so that was fine. My friends and i thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The staff were super friendly and efficient and the food was really tasty. We will be back! One thing i would say is perhaps try and get more than 1 ladies toilet in as the queue was about 10 deep at one point.

Ottoman kitchen, is my favourite restaurant in Southampton. Why? Because they have got what it takes, to make customers feel comfortable, while waiting to be served their food. I strongly recommend this place if you are around in our beautiful Maritime city 🏙️

The average we ordered chicken and lamb chops, chicken was awful, salad uneatable and the kids food was below average. We liked lamb chops. The atmosphere was ok too The staff looked a bit lost in their roles.

My expectations for this place has completely gone we were made to feel uncomfortable as soon as we entered. Being a black couple, we definitely felt out of place because they are obviously not used to diversity. As the waitress rolled her eyes and ignored my partner, who has asthma, until she felt compelled to come over. She then asked the waitress if she could close the door because smoke was coming in while we were eating, which waitress came across as extremely impolite. There was also some confusion regarding the drinks while we were eating. My partner ordered a strawberry daq, which she tried. I had to try it myself because it didn't seem to have any alcohol in she felt the waitress was being rude as my partner explain politely asked the barman Add more alcohol, which was fine but he never said it would be 3X more would just bought another drink abit cheeky I thought it was a little impolite to charge 3X for the same drink. The establishment and service let us down, the food needed more seasoning I have been to all types Turkish restaurants this has got be the worst one yet. We will not be returning. The only positive aspect of the experience was the DJ everything else was not worth £90.

Food was okay but should be alot better considering the price. Service was brilliant and attentive. Belly dancers, live music and DJ was unexpected but really good.

I haven't eaten here yet so I haven't given a review of food at this point. I met two locals who visit this restaurant every Sunday night for wine and to see the Frank Sinatra act that plays on this evening and my opinion of this place is in high regard. I watched the waiters serve customers in a professional manor and the service is of both quality and excellence. The Frank Sinatra act was of high quality and I found the whole experience to be wholesome to say the least. The smell of barbecue grilled meats, accompanied by the smell of good wine really sold my night and I hold this venue in high regard. I also noticed that the venue is very accommodating of children and vegetarian options and I can't wait to bring my children here.

Returning to Ottoman Restaurant is always a joy, and my recent visit was no exception. Angelita's delightful service made the experience even more enjoyable. Her sweet demeanor and attentive care left a lasting impression. The chicken soup I had was simply divine – rich in flavor and impeccably seasoned. It's dishes like these that keep me coming back for more. I highly recommend Ottoman Restaurant for it delicious fare and exceptional service.

We came here last night with friends very busy and nice atmosphere in restaurant its a shame the food let the place down. I ordered a lamb mince kebab which was very chewy and fatty I did not enjoy and couldn't finish hardly any rice on the plate. My husband had a chicken kebab which he liked but again not much else on the plate. We were both shocked with the bill very expensive! It was our friends birthday so the waiter come round with a slice of cake and a candle and wished him happy birthday we then tried the cake it was absolutely disgusting and when we complained we were told by i think was the owner it was a display cake and laughed! I will not be returning! The waitresses were nice and worked hard but the owner was not a nice person!

We've been down from Lincolnshire visiting family who live just outside Southampton and Ottoman Kitchen was suggested as a nice place to eat. A superb restaurant, excellent food and great service. A great find at the end of what would otherwise have been a fruitless trawl around Southampton city centre and a generic meal in a generic restaurant.

Overall - not a outstanding as we had hoped for. After hearing various reviews from friends we had to come and try. We booked but when we arrived we were ushered to a seat and I didn't get the chance to say we had booked or for how many. We ordered a couple of drinks, a mojito and an other cocktail. They arrived very quickly. We took our time and decided what to share for starters and what to have as mains. Again. The food came out quickly. The picked cabbage was very nice indeed which was served with the falafel. The falafel was good too. The vine leaves were good too. ( Note that I am saying good. Nothing about it was above average) We were putting the last forkful of starter in our mouths and we were descended on by a vulturous group of waiters who were clearing plates before my fork had even got to my mouth. Come on guys- we all understand that you want as many covers through as you can , but at the expense of good dining etiquette?? It was an uncomfortable moment to be honest and I bristled! As quickly as the plates were cleared our main dishes were put down on the table. I was seriously unhappy about being rushed. Two mains were ordered. Mixed shish Lamb casserole. The mixed shish came as four cubes of chicken and four cubes of lamb, with rice on the plate and a side salad. In all seriousness - are you really charging this price for overcooked chicken breast and lamb of which one cube was more chewy ( sinue ) than it should be and an average bowl of salad. If there is not much volume, then you really need to ensure the quality of the butchering. Now, we didn't come here with the expectation of fast food. We were expecting the service and the food and drink to match the grand decor! It fell very short. We expected fresh cocktails made well and fresh food served at a restaurant pace with good quality service. Overall poor value Hurried service Low quality cheffing. Some nice flavours and potential.

A fantastic night was spent at your restaurant for my partner's birthday. Warm welcome from staff & management. Delicious Turkish cuisine and nicely made cocktails. When I requested the bill, the team surprised us with some birthday cake and a song, We had a great birthday, and I can see why so many people rave about this Southampton restaurant.

My wife and I, along with our 9 year old son, decided to have a spot of lunch one Saturday afternoon. £90 later! I wish we had not entered. if I'm gonna have a budget of £90 for lunch, then I can think of better places to eat frankly. What did we eat ? 2 x Mixed Grill and 1 small meal for our son. 2 x Lahmacun for us all to share as a Starter. 4 Turkish tea and a Fanta. Having been to Turkey myself, one thing I know is that Turkish tea is pretty much served unlimited for 1 price (in a restaurant). Not here though. £2,50 per tiny cup of Turkish tea. So that's £10 gone for what exactly. Over £15 per Lahmacun which is overpriced for what you are getting Mixed grill was about £22 each. When I ordered the Mixed grill, I knew the price and was prepared to pay that as I thought is would be good. I think it's shameful to be honest. Because this kind if sneaky charging for small items is not the Turkish way in Turkey. When the food was served, they had the audacity to bring a small plate of salad and mention that it was complimentary. Not trying to be funny, but I wasn't planning on paying extra for an item that one would assume to be part of the meal. Also, the mixed grill literally had 2 small pepper with it. What's that about. The food did taste good (as I would expect). But price wise, don't expect us to return. We were ripped of for items that are not worth the price. If I go somewhere that is expensive, then I expect something better in return.

Cannot fault Ottoman Kitchen at all. Excellent and attentive service from all staff who were always friendly and accommodating. Food was delicious. 10/10 service - would highly recommend and the singer on Fridays was great.

As I was on business in Southampton, and had been to the Turkish Ottoman kitchen before, I was more than eager to sample their latest menu. I hadn't booked but was welcomed in by staff and enjoyed a glass of wine before choosing from the varied menu. What I find truly appealing is that all the food is cooked on a charcoal grill in an open kitchen. I love all Eastern food and the Ottoman offers a huge variety of deliciously cooked authentic food. I opted for a starter of Shakuska which is a mix of aubergine, peppers, and onion served in a rich tomato sauce. For the main course, I chose a Vegetarian Mousska, a real favorite of mine. Both dishes were excellent. All the food is cooked freshly to order and arrives piping hot. Service is first-class and prices are very reasonable. I hadn't room for dessert but all sweets looked delicious. The ambience is very inviting, full of Eastern promise, and whatever you're celebrating you can be assured of a warm welcome and unforgettable food. You can enjoy breakfast, book a special event, or attend live music evenings, even belly dancing shows. And their takeaway menu is legendary! Everything can be catered for by staff who go out of their way to make for an enjoyable experience. Top marks to all the Ottoman Kitchen team who celebrate their 5th anniversary in April 2024.
