Very good restaurant, slightly expensive

We were looking for a nice little Italian restaurant while in London. We did a little searching and stumbled on @OsteriaRomana. We made reservations in hopes it would be worth it. Well, it was. The atmosphere has a cozy Italian feel. The service we experienced was fantastic. We had David from Roma. We were undecided on a few items, because they all made my tastebuds come to life with anticipation. David made some recommendations and they were spot on. The gnocchi was delicious. We’ve never had old Roman style. But I will try to figure out how to make that! We had Oxtail and lamb chops. Both dishes were fantastic. Would definitely recommend this place. But you have to make those reservations in order to enjoy the delicious food!

Too pricey, Waiter had a bad attitude, the food was awful

Very bad service, we got an expensive red wine which was hot, when he served he filled the glass up to the top and made the dishes messy and if we didn't make a remark so that he would change our plate he wouldn't even get a message, miserable staff unsmiling and inhospitable! We got Pinza for starter which was a pizza and very small! Undercooked and below average. Mainly carbonara and Cacio e Pepe dishes very salty and thick texture! And of course very expensive for what it offers!

We booked at Osteria for a date night the Saturday before Christmas. The gnocchi starter was amazing and came as a recommendation from David who is from Rome. The pasta starter with pork cheek was authentic and delicious, also at his recommendation. My husband had the Oxtail for his main, and I had the lamb chops. I would 100% recommend and will bring my family when they come to visit in the summer. The restaurant is quaint, and all the staff was warm and inviting as well as knowledgeable about their menu. There was a sizeable Italian wine selection that David was also knowledgeable about. Thank you, David, for a wonderful experience.

There are circumstances where racial discrimination is suspected. Very disappointing to have such a terrible experience at a well reviewed restaurant. We visited without a reservation before 5pm, and the staff said they would prepare a table for us who didn't have a reservation. However, the place was inside, which was suspected to be an employee rest area where employees constantly came and went. Even during the meal, the staff kept moving around and it was a disruption to the meal. We thought they gave us a seat without a reservation because we didn't make a reservation, but when we saw that there were no other tables set up in the inner space, we were convinced that the inner space was not a place for guests to eat. We finished our meal amidst chaos, and when we went outside (where customers usually sit), there were only two tables with customers sitting. If it had been full of customers outside we wouldn't have been suspicious. This felt like racism to us. I was very disappointed with the treatment I received at no other restaurant. Food didn't even taste good because I was already in a bad mood. Be careful to avoid this from happening in the future.

Good food, I recommend, for us Italians eating well abroad is not easy, here we eat well. Excellent cacio e pepe, carbonara too tasty (salty) the bacon//guanciale was very salty, but a good pasta. Very good tiramisu. Good service Environment 2 ⭐️ because tables are very close together, a lot of confusion and this kneading of dough in the shape of cheese with truffles is a stab in the stomach for those who don't like truffles... you enter and you smell a terrible smell of truffles (I can't stand it. Truffles you either love it or hate it) and then it's not very nice to look at, this shape is all dirty even in the crust with splashes of sauce... the room is so small that I would avoid it. I wouldn't stay here again for this reason. Tiramisu had not been requested, we mentioned my birthday in case we had had a dessert, but being full we did not have it. They brought it to us without request and obviously they added it to the bill, we partly ate it, we were sorry to have it brought back, it had a candle 🕯️, it didn't seem like a kind gesture to us. Among other things it was really good, we didn't fake it we were really full, but EXCELLENT! But it doesn't change our opinion: if you hate truffles, avoid them, if you love them, it's your place.

Being a Roman from Rione Monti (near the Colosseum) and having lived for 10 years in London and Surrey, and being very italian about food, Osteria Romana definitely qualifies in my book as the temple of roman food. A pearl nested within the knightsbridge area, 1 minute walk from the iconic Harrods, this tiny place offers a massive dive into the typical roman delicacies that i was raised with in my home town. Not only the typical pasta dishes, such as carbonara, amatriciana, gricia, cacio e pepe but also a lip smacking series of starters, like parmigiana, cicoria, and a succulent variety of meat dishes such as saltimbocca alla romana. The tiramisu as dessert was also stellar. I was expecting tiny portions a la “nouvelle cuisine”, but i was surprised to see generous amounts which well sit with my appetite. Prices are not low but you know what? I was happy to pay the bill as the experience well deserved it. The service was quick, professional and our host Devid, perfect in everything except he is a fan of Lazio ;), made the whole experience unforgettable. I will definitely go back. You gotta reserve ahead. It is a tiny place with not many tables, which actually adds to the cozy atmosphere. A must try for any italian who want to go through the memory lane and for any foreigner that want to try the real roman food without having to fly to Rome to visit food holds of famous roman quarters like Trastevere or Rione Monti.

Today, my friends and I visited Osteria Romana, a restaurant we were really looking forward to based on its high ratings. However, the experience was beyond disappointing. We arrived at 3:00 PM, even five minutes early for our reservation, knowing how crowded this place usually is. Although we ended up waiting over 10 minutes to be seated, we honestly didn’t mind the wait—after all, we were all hungry and ready to be patient. What we did mind, however, was the receptionist’s awful attitude and the sense of unfair treatment we received. The receptionist—a man with slightly thinning hair on top—kept a completely expressionless poker face the entire time, as though we had inconvenienced him. A professional in his role should have at least shown some courtesy or friendliness, but his demeanor made us feel like we “owed him lots of money” rather than being welcomed guests. When we were finally seated at 3:12 PM, his cold and unwelcoming manner had already ruined our appetite. This restaurant may have great food, but such poor service leaves a bitter taste in your mouth before you even start eating. We politely expressed our disappointment and decided to leave without ordering. To our shock, he responded with a curt and indifferent “no problem” in less than a second—no apology, no effort to address the situation, nothing. We came here to enjoy good food and a pleasant dining experience, not to be treated with disrespect and coldness. Such appalling service is unacceptable and definitely not worth a single penny. Not recommended, and we’ll never come back.

Hidden gem near Hyde park! Lovely little spot tucked away on a side street— definitely recommend booking in advance given the size. Four stars since appetizer options were limited, pricey, and mainly carb or protein heavy (eg tuna carpaccio, beef tartare, gnocchi) versus veggie friendly or lighter choices. Good wine selection albeit on the pricier side for a decently aged full bodied red (eg £80+ per bottle for pre-2021 vintages). Really enjoyed the fresh basil with olive oil for the bread. Cacio e pepe was fantastic, carbonara was solid, and we loved the tiramisu. Servers were quite friendly as well. Will be returning to try the amatriciana and a la gricia!

The reception at Osteria Romana was very rude to my friends and me when we arrived at the restaurant on time at 14:55 for our 15:00 booking. Despite our punctuality, we were kept waiting for 10 minutes for a table. Frustrated by the lack of hospitality and care, I decided to cancel the booking and will not consider dining at this restaurant again.

Culinary gem in London: a must for gourmets As soon as we entered the shop, we were overwhelmed by the intense, irresistible smell of truffles. The mystery was quickly unraveled: fresh pasta was spun through a giant pecorino cheese wheel right before our eyes. One look at this spectacle and the choice was made. The taste? Phenomenal. The portions were generous and the truffle was generously grated over the pasta on the spot, a pleasure for both the eye and the taste buds. Although we had already enjoyed some excellent starters — a crispy Roman pizza and a velvety tuna carpaccio — these almost paled in comparison to the truffle pasta. A masterpiece that exceeded every culinary expectation.

If the service had been good, I could have given this place 5 stars. The taste of the food was very good too. The reason I lowered it to 3 stars is that, despite being a small venue, the service was absolutely terrible. The main course, which was pasta, arrived cold. The bread that was supposed to come with the starter arrived late. Out of the drinks we ordered, only one came, and the other didn’t. We ordered desserts; one arrived, but the other didn’t. Even when the dessert came, there was no spoon. The entire meal was spent reminding the waiter about things and trying to fix what was missing. In short, the waiter ruined the meal. If we could, we wouldn’t have tipped, but they directly include it in the bill. You might wonder how this place has a 4.9 rating with so many votes. I don’t want to ruin the illusion, but here’s the thing: every time you ask for the bill, they ask you to leave a review, and if you agree, they write it together with you while the waiter stands over you.

In a few hours of flight change on LHR, I traveled to the city, and went straight to lunch at this restaurant. The food and service typical of an Italian place in the heart of London. Small, it was full, but the taste of the food and the attention are well worth the visit.
