Not the usual Italian restaurant for tourists, but an intimate and refined place. The quality is immediately perceived from the menu: a few revisited dishes, well prepared. Tasty panciotti (ravioli) filled with fish. The Sicilian cannoli is unmissable.

We were looking for a nice restaurant in the neighbourhood, but struggled to find one. We decided to drive at least 20 minutes, because other options didn’t look good. In the end, we settled for the Osteria, expecting pizza and standard Italian food. We were so delighted to find the Osteria: friendly service, good food and wine and a very relaxed and laid back atmosphere. Effort had been made to make all kinds of aspects beautiful. We were grateful to have made the journey. Will come back again.

I am so grateful I found this restaurant, which is without a doubt my new favorite one in Edinburgh. I love Italy and often am disappointed in Italian restaurants because they do not reflect the soul, generosity and love to products as the restaurants I love in Italy, do. Here, you will have it all. In a white and wooden decor, a super kind and discreet host was attentive to any detail. The dishes, one by one, will take you straight to this Italian house you’ve always dreamed of. This house where the pomodoro sauce is always slow cooking in a corner of the kitchen, where a bit of flour is spread on the wooden table to prepare the pasta dough and ravioli and where you hear the mamas laughing and singing over a box of fresh scampi and scallops. So thank you all for the wonderful trip back to these best comforting memories.

Have been here a few times over the years and always a high standard of food and service. Beautiful interior and very chilled as you never feel pressured or rushed. I went this afternoon again with my dad and would say this was the best fish dish I have ever had. Little more expensive but totally worth it for top quality food and service. So fresh the food and good wine. Would 100% recommend and authentic beautiful Italian food.

We visit regularly with family and friends. Superb, fresh, authentic Italian cooking in Colinton village. Food: absolutely delicious, so fresh, wonderful pasta, great fish and meat dishes, lovely selection of desserts - tiramisu to die for. Atmosphere: relaxed, elegant, not stuffy at all, kids so very welcome, (well-behaved) dogs permitted. Staff: all the staff are amazing. So helpful. Accommodating of needs. Value: really good value for money. Every dish worth every penny. Especially lunch deal.

The restaurant is very clean, welcoming and intimate. Staff very attentive to customer needs. The food is excellent, fresh and impeccably cooked. Highest quality raw materials. Chef Cristiano knows how to satisfy even the most demanding palate. Highly recommended.

Best Italian in Edinburgh (my personal opinion) ❤️

I have had several meals here, all of which were excellent, apart from my last. The bruschetta toast base was spoiled by someone being over enthusiastic with the toaster rendering the bread brick hard. The rice of my risotto was excellent unlike the seafood content which was,not quite defrosted. My wife’s seafood ravioli was flabby and uninspiring So, Osteria, time to pay more attention, I’ll put it down to experience but will return.

I liked everything but I think the food in terms of quality and price is a bit high.

Another excellent meal! We live locally and feel so lucky to have such a great restaurant on our doorstep. We really like the small but varied menu. The food never fails to impress and the quality of ingredients is obvious. Staff are super attentive but not intrusive which makes for a relaxing experience. This was a birthday treat for my husband and he really enjoyed it. Thankyou!

It’s the best Italian food I’ve tasted in Edinburgh, by far. Been twice in last month or so, will be back again soon. Staff are really friendly, great wine, great atmosphere. Accommodated our son’s allergies really well. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Honestly the best lunch we have had in years. The food is simple but perfectly cooked, and delicious. There was nothing we could fault. Except maybe more bread, a nice biscuit with your coffee instead of those generic things in wrappers, and better wine. It was absolutely superb.

10 OUT OF 10… AND 5 STARS… One Word… SUPERB! We were heading to the O2 Academy and Googled for ‘places to eat’ nearby, and what a find! Lovely food, very comfortable and cosy setting, with lovely, friendly and smartly dressed staff. The place felt upmarket, but not pretentious, it was very welcoming. Very fairly priced and very highly recommended. A+++++

Had my Mum's 60th Birthday here, table for 17, great food, great service. Staff stayed late as we ended up staying until after closing to make sure that we had the best time possible. I personally had the Lamb Ragu, it was phenomenal. Everyone else agreed that the food here is incredible.

This was such a lovely restaurant with extremely good service, fine food, and a beautiful way to end our travels in Ireland & Scotland! They were careful with our gluten free person in our party and the gentleman who was our waiter (professor by day, waiter by night) was so friendly and delightful. The calamari was fresh and perfectly breaded and fried, the ragu was tasty, the spaghetti gameroni pistachio scrumptious. Quiet location outside the bustle of the city center. Highly recommend!

We went to Osteria Dei Sapori spontaneously after searching for a good lunch place open at 3pm when driving to Edinburgh. Wow! Amazing food and lovely decoration. We were a bit in a rush and only had mains, but I can’t wait to come back for a 3 course meal.

Despite the food menu, it isn't particularly interesting for my point of view, the wine list it is!! However, the food is very good, and very well presented. I had a quality and relaxing time here, I really recommend it for a pleasant dining experience with friends or as a couple.

Best italian restaurant in Scotland, and in the UK, so far. The burrata was really good and the spaghetti with shrimp and zucchini.. just perfect. The red wine (nero d'avola) was excellent so was the "ristretto". Will dine here for sure anytime I'll be around.

Stumbled across this place by chance as the nearby Brasserie by Pentland hills was taking reservations only for the day. Glad that we couldn't go. I'm sure the food wouldn't have been nearly as good as Osteria Dei Sapori's. Such a lovely little gem, tastefully decorated inside, professional service, and food is one of the best I've had in an Italian restaurant in Edinburgh. Would highly recommend

I dined in with my family yesterday evening. Food was gorgeously presented and cooked, especially the king scallops and seafood risotto. It was good value for price.

Amazing Italian Restaurant! 10 Stars. We had a very nice evening with friends having dinner here. Everything was very delicious! Every bite outstanding. We ordered different dishes and all of them looked fantastic. According to my friends their food was also very good. The service was very friendly and quick. We didn't had to wait for long and they alway took care if we are needing anything else. So big thanks for the wonderful evening and looking forward for the next visit to try out the menue.

The food here is excellent - very flavoursome. There could however be more vegetarian and vegan choice however. One or two choices is poor in today's world. The service was excellent. The atmosphere however was very noisy.

After a long Saturday wander through Colinton Dell we were ready for dinner so thought we'd chance it c. 6.45pm without a booking. Luckily they were able to slot us in (it was very busy about 30 mins after we arrived so booking is probably advisable). We had an excellent dinner, lovely homemade bread with oil, light crispy Calamari. Followed by Duck Breast in Red Wine & Balsamic sauce for my partner, while I had the Lamb chops in a white wine and rosemary sauce. 4 good size chops, pink and tender inside, caramelized on the outside - excellent. If I had been served this at an expensive Scottish restaurant in the city centre I would have been very content. The duck was excellent too. Finished off for me by an Affogato with Amaretto - bliss! Will definitely be returning to this excellent restaurant. Lovely friendly service too.

A table was pre booked for a birthday celebration , our 1 st visit to this restaurant ! We chose from a big selection of pasta / meats & fish plus 2 specials of fish for the day including octopus or scallops ! We chose an anti pasti of meats / burrata / olives / fennel & peppers & bread to share which was really good & just enough for a starter portion! The mains we chose were x2 of the king prawn with spaghetti & one lamb ragu & one chicken with vegetables & roasties! All very well presented & tasty & generous portions … we chose a bottle of red wine & water for the table. Excellent service from the waiter , excellent cheffing so thankypu for everything & making the birthday celebration a brilliant night out!

I really enjoyed my visit here. Food was delicious, a little different but still familiar. Busy even on a Monday evening at the end of Feb which says something. I will definitely be back.

Amazing experience: We looked after some coffee/tea place , but passing by this place we both stopped 🙈 Looked in each other and said : looks cozy and we came in… The service we got is perfection : not too much,not too little. We sat down and I looked around, one lady ate pasta with seafood.. I could smell it, smelled like symphony 🥰 Food is : fresh and made with love 🥰 we got burrata and some catch of the day… just wow Thank you for this experience/memory❤️

Another excellent meal In this pleasant small Restuarant with my wife and my cousin, incidentally Doddie Weirs father, and his friend. We all had seafood for starters(two scallops and two octopus). Mains were two pigs cheeks with spaghetti one king prawn in ravioli and a continental meat platter and they were absolutely delicious. The staff were first class attending to all our needs with good natured banter. On the whole a very enjoyable night.

My wife and I have visited this Restaurant three times over the last two months with different friends.The last visit being on Saturday 7th January 2023 for a belated eightieth birthday dinner. On each occasion the food has been first class, the staff extremely pleasant and helpful and the atmosphere happy and friendly. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys authentic Italian food.

We had just arrived from Copenhagen to Edinburgh and wanted a quick meal before travelling south. This place made us feel like we had taken the wrong plane and landed in Italy.. We had soup of the day, lamb ragout pasta and Seabass. Dishes were all very well made and staff were very good at accommodating a quick and easy meal. We were not expecting this good of a meal from the first restaurant we crossed on our way through Edinburgh. I think we accidentally stumbled into a place that's a little bit special.

As per title, the food was tasty but the service was incredibly slow. Had to flag staff down twice to order dessert and another round of drinks (the wrong drink was brought but couldn't be bothered waiting an eternity for the correct one). Seemed to...

Food outstanding I had scallops to start cooked perfect melt in mouth, husband had calamari cooked to perfection. Mains faultless ravioli superb and cod perfect. As for the service outstanding attentive, friendly and warm genuine people.
