As a wedding photographer Orton Hall is one of my favourite wedding venues and one I go to most. Perhaps my favourite thing about Orton Hall is that it has 20 acres of gardens for us to explore! There’s a wonderful range of scenery including: An avenue of huge, ancient conifers, snowdrops in February, daffodils and bluebells in spring and honeysuckle in summer, a mini-hedge maze and great views of Orton Hall from under an ancient oak tree. The conservatory is a beautiful location for the ceremony and you can even get married outside by the bandstand. The Great Hall is a majestic location for the wedding breakfast and the first dance, with its high ceiling and grand chandeliers. In the evening the conservatory bar and courtyard become the chill out areas while the dance-floor is jumping in the Great Hall. A fabulous wedding venue choice in the Peterborough area.

We are currently staying at Orton Hall Hotel & Spa, having booked three rooms, and we are deeply disappointed with our experience so far. The historic building and beautiful grounds initially seemed promising, but the interior is incredibly dated and poorly maintained, making for an uncomfortable stay. All three rooms have had issues, including dirty bathrooms, rusty showers, and intermittent hot water, which makes simple tasks like showering quite frustrating. The bathrooms are outdated, featuring rusted towels, a missing toilet roll holder, and one light that doesn’t work. One of the rooms even has a stained corner chair. Additionally, the bedroom doors have gaps around the edges, providing little privacy, and they slam shut, resulting in a noisy night’s sleep. The gym is laughable, including one treadmill that awkwardly faces a small corridor leading to an open, dirty storage cupboard. We also tried the Ramblewood Inn, the hotel’s partner pub next door, and found it overpriced and disappointing. The food quality was low, clearly microwaved, and not worth the cost; the drinks were similarly unimpressive. The only small positive aspect is the generous tea and coffee tray, but when that’s the best feature of a stay, it really highlights the issues. Considering what we paid, this hotel offers shockingly poor value, especially in comparison to alternatives like the nearby Marriott, which we wish we had booked instead. Mr. Ravi Takhar (Art Hotels), who also owns Regal Care Homes, seems to have drawn inspiration from his care homes when designing this hotel, given the dated décor, poor layout, and lack of upkeep. We plan to raise these issues with management tomorrow to see if we can leave early, as this stay is not meeting our expectations in any way. If you’re considering Orton Hall, save yourself the disappointment and book elsewhere. UPDATE: Spoke to management who refunded our last nights stay cost and offered to upgrade. Unfortunately the upgraded room was also considerably dirty and rotten. We packed our things and moved to the local Marriott.

Comfortable and well appointed rooms within lush grounds and interesting heritage decor. Loved the huge room size. Very peaceful at night. Breakfast was good and offers both cooked English and continental. Has stairs and no lifts though, so travelers with heavy bags may need to use muscles. Staff very helpful though.

Excellent stay at a very nice hotel. Rooms can be a bit of a trek, we had to go out and back in to get to ours. Room was a good size and very comfortable. Restaurant was good and breakfast was top notch. Service from check in to check out was the best.

Great venue, but it's possibly the worst coffee I've ever tasted. Lack of staff, because they were busier than expected, meant delays in orders. Otherwise a good venue, plenty of parking and easy to get to.

The hotel is a bit old and not at all what we had imagined. We weren't allowed in the breakfast room with our dog, but instead sat in the hallway. There were very few vegan options and hardly any healthy ones. Dinner in the restaurant's pub was great

This Spa hotel is great if you’re blind, don’t want any spa treatments and want to feel like you’re back in the 1980’s. Food in the pub not even worth mentioning. Hotel spa treatments fully booked (thank god ). The whole place should be demolished. And now I’ve just received this text from reception. “ Generally Generally, we composted on your room Could you please pop back over to the pub when you've got a moment? That would be great thank you bye.…” Avoid.

I enjoyed my stay until an unexpected issue arose. I wasn’t informed about a loud Halloween party happening directly below my room (118) in the garden. Upon returning to the hotel at 5:00 PM, the noise was overwhelming, especially given the lack of double glazing, and made it impossible to relax or work, as I had planned. I understand that events like this can be part of the hotel’s offerings, but as a guest booking a 4-star hotel surrounded by parks, I did not expect such extreme noise disturbance, especially in the late afternoon! When I approached the front desk to express my concerns, I was told that the event would end at 9:30 PM. I felt that my request for assistance was not met, and no consideration was given. I ended up leaving the hotel in search of peace and quiet, despite having paid for the room. When I returned later that evening, and the noise was still on; I spoke to the manager, who informed me that the event finish at 9:45 PM and that it was only an extra 15 minutes... I was also told that my room was the closest to the event and that notes about such disturbances are usually sent in advance—however, this did not happen in my case. Had I known about the potential noise, I would have likely booked elsewhere. I was offered no alternative arrangements or compensation for the disruption. Overall, I’m disappointed by the lack of proactive communication and the way my concerns were handled. It did not meet the standard of service I expect from a 4-star hotel, particularly in a tranquil setting.

I went for a relaxing SPA experience. I did not stay at the hotel. The treatment was nice and staff were friendly, but it was not a relaxing experience. The pool was full of young children diving and splashing about. There was an argument between rude parents and a lady who pointed out it's no diving here. The father replied this is a family pool, so you should leave! And the poor lady was in tears. Staff allowed all this splashing about and noisy kids, so for me that's not a SPA.

Stayed for a wedding, lovely location and grounds. My room was very spacious, no air conditioning but a desk fan provided. Afternoon was generous and we all enjoyed it and appreciated getting a slot so late. Breakfast was a feast and I especially liked the sausages. Getting a taxi takes time so book prior to check out. Staff were attentive and polite at all times.

A beautiful relic which has stood for more than 900 years. As a guest you gain access to the gym, spa and pool. They have a lovely conservatory and very nice breakfast. They have a restaurant which sadly only operates on specific days and a pub close to it for food. It's a perfect place to de-stress and to just enjoy the vibe, scenery and walks.

We got a good deal for this hotel to attend a party that was local so booked into the spa too which was complementary with the room. Good check in, car park a bit muddy! Room was perfect for our needs; two ladies sharing. Good space and everything we needed in the room and we both slept well. There was a bit of a funny smell upon entering the room maybe just needed a bit more airing but we were given early check in so can't complain! Spa facilities were nice. It's usually nice to enjoy a nice shower after the pool, jacuzzi etc but the shower wasn't enticing. Generally thought the changing area needed an update/ deep clean. Had a lovely massage though. Staff were all friendly and breakfast was great. Had been warned the restaurant would be busy between 9-10am but there was no problem with seats. Breakfast was plentiful and good choice and quality. Would definitely visit again.

Well what can I say. First time here. Rooms are a tad overpriced. I appreciate the historic style of the rooms but basic updates wouldn't go a miss. It's not a hydro pool as their website states. (Very cold in our opinion)The hot tub is a bit small, but also lovely. Had my first ever massge at the grand age of 36 and although pain wasnt relieved, Chloe was brilliant, i felt ridiculous relaxed afterwards. I will book again with her.We wasn't treated with much interest as reception, although the ladies were in no way rude. Still polite. Just very basic. The food at ramblewood was also very basic and the chairs very uncomfortable. Still service was friendly. Would we stay again. Maybe not overnight. But we would use the spa and services again. Book early to avoid disappointment as unsurprisingly after the services we had at the spa, they are very busy

Absolutely disgusted by the service. We were given a room opposite the cemetery. This made us extremely uncomfortable and anxious, so we asked if we could move onto a room, where many guests had not yet arrived. The receptionist was incredibly rude. When the manager came out, she stormed over and started yelling at our friend, hovering over her, in her face and intimidating - we were actually shocked at this bullying, intimidating behaviour.  She was a perpetrator of verbal abuse! Extremely unprofessional and rude – I would even question if it was racism. Appallingly, no apology was given by the Manger or the Receptionist, we asked for a full refund and had to find another hotel to stay in. We were absolutely traumatised by this behaviour, it totally ruined our weekend – something we were initially really excited about and travelled from different parts of England for. We were asked to have our treatments, that were pre-booked and leave. We would NEVER recommend this place to anyone.  I feel absolutely distraught, humiliated and shocked at how were treated.

This is in a beautiful location, the staff are perfect and nothing wrong there.... the problems are the states of the rooms. Although an amazing bed to sleep in, I upgraded to a 4 poster bed room and the wall paper was peeling, there's damp patches on the walls, theh had filled in holes and left them, down in the spa room there's what looks like rust on the pillar in the centre. Maintenance and up keep is massively letting them down. I can imagine a refurb or a fresh lick of paint is going to be hard work but looking at the rooms they so desperately need it.

Juiciest, amazing tasty, freshly cooked, hot burgers in softest seeded bun! Sauces are amazing, loved the Algerian spicy ones! Hot Peri Chips filled to brim and overflowing into takeout bag! Milkshakes creamy and thick! Extremely clean and hygienic in restaurant, Staff are amazing. They were due to close when we arrived but still very welcoming. We had tried several takeouts which only take cash! Here I was able to use bank card which was so appreciated. Definitely recommend this amazing restaurant.
