Original Sajid Shahi Restaurant & Takwaway in Birmingham

Just ordered some food for the kids. Not sure about the quality but for sure the portion sizes are ridiculous. They just tried to charge me £7.50 for this burger as a meal. Literally covers half the bun. It’s frozen patties, you can see the size of the burger, why not double it up? Instead you try ripping off your customers

Food not good at all staff not helpful at all they charge before food so you can’t complain and is not worth that food with those prices cleaning zero they serve with dirty plates food was burnt and meat was uncooked

Sizzler starter was very salty & more colour than Peter Andre's fake tan Tawa had burnt lamb chops - when complained to the Waiter - he looked at me in a dumb founded way & ask me "what would I like him to do about it" When was at the counter - you could see clearly most items being microwaved in a plastic carton

Unfiltered rough and ready traditional food. Slam bam thank you mam. I enjoy the loud rushed quick turn around food experience in these places. Not for the faint hearted. Great food

Really lovely food – highly recommend. The flavours were fantastic and the service was great. However, it was a shame there wasn’t a prayer area available. Even a small, private space at the back would have made a big difference. It’s something to consider for the future – it would really enhance the experience for customers who need a place to pray

Avoid this place unless u r starving to death, bunch of headless chickens. Very inconsiderate, they will lose ur order and not even apoligise. All the food is microwaved or reheated anyway.

My family and I enjoyed the food from this place the tawa was good especially enjoyed the sheekh kebabs n lamb chops marsh daal n lamb karahi was great with fresh roti wouldn't hesitate to revisit check them out.

Nothing fresh about this place, rancid stale food. Chapli kebab pre cooked and warmed up in a microwave to a cardboard texture. "Crispy Katlaama" stale soggy horrible filling both with more flour than the naan. Balti handi again just pre cooked and warmed in the mircrowave and not even hot. Only thing that was fresh and worth eating was the naan. Never again...

Can’t believe this place is even a restaurant. Microwave the pakora then fried it making the pakora completely inedible. Biriyani was bland and disgusting. The kebab was dryer than the dessert. Only thing that tasted decent here was the drinks. If they want to learn how to run a restaurant please comment back on this and I’ll train your staff for free.

Very bad experience mix grill was nasty all chicken wings burned didn’t like at all bad servise

The waiter Haider served us and we got the mixed grill platter, we didn’t even realise there was one lamb seekh kebab missing and of their own accord he brought it to us after 2 minutes. Very good service overall.

The mixed grill was amazing – full of flavor and perfectly cooked. However, the cups had an odd smell and didn’t look clean, which was off-putting. Also noticed the chef speaking harshly to the waiters, which created an uncomfortable vibe. Great food, but the atmosphere needs improvement.

I had guests from London so we went to “Shahi grill” because it looked nice. This place was an absolute joke. Service was rubbish, food was old. It looked like frozen food was heated up. The mixed grill had an over powering burnt taste and as a pregnant lady it made me feel very sick. The whole family who ate there was ill afterwards. I do not recommend and I would never go there again. Sorry but horrible.

RIP OFF! Overly priced and they even charge you for a salad which every place I’ve been too included with starters. The atmosphere was non existent and service was bad. This place has gone downhill and the food quality too.

Absolutely a joke. They gave us chicken biryani it was off and had a bad smell to it when the waiter took are food it did not say they do not do refund not anywhere in the shop does it say no refunds. We spoke to the manager first she was not giving her name so that we could complain to her boss which for some reason did not allow us to talk to him and then she was rude saying we are wrong the biryani is not off when three people complained. what was extremely rude was she said we are just doing this to get free food who in their right mind says that to a customer that is absurd This place is a joke the food was cold as-well. NOONE COME HERE. We found out after calling what her name was and her name was noor. Its a disgrace a usually well restaurant would give a refund especially when the waiter took the chicken biryani we didn’t even touch the biryani. Very silly restaurant. On top of that the service was really poor took 10 minutes to get some lemon . Disgraceful and pathetic. Please can someone get back to me i am not having this that is straight out rude.

The food was overly priced and the aloo paratha was raw and when my mom told the chef and the owner behind the till they were arrogant and rude about it and completely denied the fact that the paratha was not made correctly. The new waiter who had joined today was getting shouted at for no reason by the owner and the chef . I felt really bad for how the new waiter was being treated. I would not recommend this restaurant at all.

Dodgy shop at outside. Ask price before buying. They will change the price suddenly and very expensive in whole area. Strongly recommended to go to other shops. Avoid 👎👎👎👎👎👎

When they sat us down, they didn't tell us that we have to go to the front to order and made us wait for a while before we had to ask the waiter to take our order

Very bad attitude of staff they gave us bad food we tried to return they started fighting then we smelled gone off meat in our rice. Poor seating area dirty bathrooms no hygiene what so ever.

Excellent staff, Gorgeous food - lovely atmosphere!

Apologies for not speaking fluent Urdu, walked in at 8:35pm. Met by two individuals, workers I assume shouting "No eat, no eat" which turned out to mean we are closed. Travelled all the way from Telford with no apology, no gratitude and no explanation as to why it says they're opened online but we reach there and it's shut. The moon hasn't been sighted today so there's no way they've gone to read Taraaweh. As much use as a concrete parachute.

Do not buy lamb donner kebab for takeout from this place. They will give you old & hard donner and for £7.50 is a expensive compared to others on the road.

The food at Sajid Shahi is always amazing flavorful, well-prepared, and definitely a highlight of the experience. However, the prices are on the higher side. They service was not good so rude Sheff I ordered hakeem and naan .naan was burnt when I complained they said its not burnt and I ordered chicken tika they said i didn't ordered chicken tika waitors service was good but sheff and owner was so rude I like waitors service specially moon .

The quality has gone down hill massively. A simple tea order (English tea no milk) took 20 minutes to come. Asked the waiter three times and got fobbed off. This is not worth the price or the visit. The service is terrible. Management are obviously not doing their job.

Amazing food and great service from Noor and Danish!

Disappointing service at first. Waited ages to get tissues we requested and even glasses for water. Based on google reviews, we thought at least food would be good. But the food was equally disappointing. We ordered on the bone chicken karahi chef recommended. The price tag was that of good taste restaurants (half kg £22) but the taste was no way near satisfactory level.

The food was average , peri peri chicken was good but very spicy after being told that it’s not spicy and is suitable for kids. Food is pricey. Special chicken karahi was not even a karahi , it tasted like onions and no tomatoes when karahi is suppose to only have tomatoes. Service was terrible and toilets were absolutely filthy ! It looks good from outside but not very clean from inside. I would never go there again and would t recommend this place for sure.

We went to eat at lunch time. The food was over priced, as we didn't get much of food what we have paid for . The service was bad we asked fir the tap water and was refused. I think this is really bad we never heard that were tap water isn't served. The sugar was spilt on the table and the wateress put the sugar back into the bowl.

Noor served our family really well, wonderful service and food was brilliant

I've been here twice. The food is mediocre and overpriced for what it is. There's very little seasoning to the dishes. The service is rather sub-standard, staff will seat you and advised you to make your order at the till. The waitress gave us 2 cups when there 3 of us. Then said is that everything? I also asked for tap water and was advised they don't do tap water but i could buy a bottle of water?! It's a nice place to have a family meal out as it is family friendly and plenty of seating available. However, the toilets were poorly kept and in a state. Overall I think there's better places to eat at. It's overpriced and can do with significant improvements.

I will come back to this restaurant, I had a great meal, it was very good.

Worst experience!! Full of salt fish pakora Burger madeup of frozen patties and paratha roll made in normal chapati . Everything tasteless!!! On com planning about salt was told thats how fish should be .

The food was gorgeous. Portion size was spot on and the presentation. We ordered the grilled fish with naan, but I think the fish was air fried. The thing that was a let down was the condescending waitress so rude for that reason we won't be going there again.

A great place for traditional Pakistani/Indian food as well as fast food including Donner kebabs etc. There is something for everyone. The service is also great. Would definitely recommend.

Prices high. Quality is ok. Sheesh kebabs need to be cooked abit more so not too soft in middle. Glad they don't do boycot drinks. Chicken pakora chicken isn't the best

Food and services really good, also very quick but they don't serve tap water which I feel is against the law and Biriyani chicken is just one piece. I feel which are over price.

Went with family, previously remember it being better but wasn't happy with the service, a system where you go to the till, get the menu, go to table to decide on food to order and then go back the till to order with guy at the till. Wanted to order something else but no one at the till to serve. Not good experience overall especially the way they burnt the shiesh kebabs. I don't think any restaurant should serve customers kebabs when they're this burned.

The waiter helped us to the table with a smile and then once we paid she completely ignored us even though my mum called her twice. The lamb kebabs were dry and hard The chicken kebabs had no taste and were not cooked properly They provided no sauces with the kebabs and when asked they took their time They missed an order so all the food came in bits Coming from Manchester thought this looks decent but absolutely shameful service and food. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

Food was good but you really have to change the person on the Till. The guy is completely useless Because of him the queues are huge and he gets the orders wrong I came on the 2nd July 2022 at 2pm. I don't think his English is great come on sort this out

We went for the first time and it was awful!! The haleem tasted like water and looked like it too..the sheesh kebabs were paper thin and had no salt! They were tiny and burnt. We complained yet was told thats how the food is! Changed it for something else a chicken handi and that had way too much salt! Never going back again. Do better please! While i was there their was another man complaining too about his food he got up and left because customer service is poor. Get more waiters you just had the one lady slaving away serving multiple tables! Thats not fair

LOL, So you’ve seen the thousands of reviews. I’m trying to find a decent halal fairly priced venue in A.Rock and most of them have a disproportionate amount of reviews profiles that have mad ONE contribution so very suspectful of any venue AND they’re all guilty of this in, but I thought I’d try it. So the place looks nice inside, FOOD chicken sheesh 0-10 , no taste, cold (I ate in!) Fish grilled masala 3-10 Hygiene, the lady handled the phone, cash and grabs the salald all without washing her hands Such a shame these places drown out genuine reviews with bot reviews, PRICE: this place is a little higher than similar ones Other places are better priced with tastier food but don’t look as nice as this place , I’m never eating here again

Tried this place for the first time in September 2024. Ordered a big tawa, the starters , lamb chops, Sikh kebabs, (chicken and meat) and chicken tikka was good. However the masala fish and the mains dhaal and chicken was very disappointing, hence the three stars. The venue is large and suitable for families with some great decor. The toilets were a mess though. Service was ok, food is a bit overpriced to be honest. Not sure if I’ll go again.

Slowest service ever. We were sat and waited for 15 minutes no one came to even ask or give us food manue neither ask for what we need. We then just left. Really disappointed.

I recently dined at (Sajid Shahi) and was highly disappointed with my experience. The food was neither fresh nor up to the mark. It lacked flavor and quality, making it clear that freshness was not a priority. For the high prices charged, I expected much better in terms of taste and quality. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not justify the cost. I hope the management addresses these issues, as there is a lot of room for improvement.
