Absolute gem of a place, food fantastic , service 10/10 from Mel and Watt, always visit when we are in area

Food absolutely fantastic, service great, the let down was the state of the toilet area - neither the ladies or the gents doors would close, the lighthouse switches were disgustingly filthy, added to that were the massive cobwebs in the area just outside the actual toilets. Would we return, on the basis of the food a very big yes, on the cleanliness no, if the toilet area is like this what is the kitchen like, they may have a 5rating but is it still correct?

Lovely little place. We had lemon chicken, roasted duck, coconut rice and ribs on the side followed by the coconut ice cream and banana fritter. It was all wonderful and service was very friendly. The loos are on the ground floor which was good for my elderly mom. The eatery is quite small so if you want to go on a Fri or Sat night I would book several days in advance

What a great find !! Amazing restaurant with a really good varied menu. We booked for 6.30 on a busy Saturday and were treated like royalty. Fabulous service with drinks, starters and mains for four of us. Not rushed at all, even though our table was booked for another party @ 8.00. A memorable dining experience and one that we will have sometime in the future.

Food was absolutely first class and the attentiveness of the waiter was excellent. We began with the golden platter mixed starter for 2, followed by sweet and sour chicken and red chilli beef with sides of jasmine rice and stir fried noodles. We had 2 large glasses of red wine which my wife said was excellent ( not the vinegar served in many restaurants) and a diet coke. The bill came to an unbelievable £51 including service charge. Our first visit and definately not our last, I highly recommend a visit.

Honestly one of the best meals I have ever eaten in my life and I'm already planning my next visit in 2 weeks. Everything about the experience was flawless. It's a very small restaurant with only a few tables meaning that they're able to give everyone great attention and the food isn't rushed but it does mean you're better off booking before you arrive. It has a great ambiance and the staff are so friendly. I ordered the sticky pork ribs for a starter. Usually when you order ribs at an Asian restaurant they're tough and covered in salt to hide the quality of the meat but this wasn't the case here. The meat was falling off the bone and the sauce was lovely. The main was where the whole experience truly shone. I ordered the roast duck curry with lychee and pineapple and it was truly one of the finest pieces of food to ever pass my lips. I can't praise it highly enough the whole experience was 10/10 and I don't have a single negative thing to add.

We were recently on a holiday from Scotland staying at the Mowbreck Caravan Park. We were looking for places to eat that were not to far away. We came across the Orathai and we are so glad we did. The owner was very welcoming even though we hadn’t booked - which we would recommend has there are only 8 or 9 tables. There was specials available for £5 !! but we chose other dishes from the menu. The starters were so so tasty as were the mains. The ducky bites and golden bags for starters and then we ordered chilli beef - which was hot -with coconut rice and garlic and ginger chicken. After all that I still managed a dessert. A hot custard dish with ice cream and berries mmm. We can honestly say that this was the best Thai cuisine we have eaten and we have both travelled and have eaten in many restaurants. There is nothing fancy about the restaurant just fantastic food, affordable and in a relaxed environment. One to visit for sure.

I don't really like Thai food it's just not my taste at all but my friend and his family love Thai food and thought I should try it unfortunely it just was not to my taste nothing wrong with the food it's just me really but the chef cooked up a dish just for me to try hoping I'd like it but I didn't unfortunately but it was so lovely for the staff to do that as no restaurant I know of would ever do that. It's a shame Thai food is not for me really not that it was bad it's just my taste. But I did have a desert I think I had the Banana split which was lovely possibly the best I've ever had. Some years ago this used to be the Sawat Dee Thai restaurant if memory serves but clearly has had at least one rebrand since I was last there probably in the late 80s early 90s. The restaurant is still a fairly small affair - looks like a former domestic residence converted into a restaurant. So not many covers and booking will be recommended. The staff, which could well be a family run thing, were very friendly and pleasant. Couldn't have done more for us. Full marks. Our starters were delicious and tasty. Well presented. Mum's scallops were apparently fantastic. The selection of 5 starters the girlfriend and I had were lovely and she had an additional portion all of dumplings which were again fab. Mum's giant king prawns looked stunning when they arrived for main course in a red curry sauce and my girlfriend's weeping tiger, fillet steak with chilli sauce was superb. I had massamam with chicken, one of my favourite Thai dishes and again superb. We all agreed we'd reorder the identical meal if we came again. We even pigged out on dessert too and the two we ordered were again really tasty. Highly recommended. The only minus was that the restaurant had sold out of Bacardi after my Mum had one earlier in the meal. But I guess that's a very minor gripe. [I can confirm the card reader at this restaurant is not contactless and therefore Apple Pay (limitless or otherwise) is not available here at this time.]

Very much looking forward to visiting this Thai restaurant, mainly because of the excellent reviews. I was anticipating a superb meal, but this was not the case - which makes me wonder if I am assessing the food and slow service differently from other diners.Firstly, food only warm, not hot and the Thai fishcakes were very firm, hard and lacking in flavour. Main course of duck still only warm and not piping hot, as I would have preferred. After such a poor start, I was looking forward to the sweet but, unfortunately, this was still partly frozen! It would seem to me that quite a few of the dishes are bought in and prepared as needed, rather than all being freshly made. We shall not be returning.

I really wanted to like this place and had read the reviews which said service was slow due to freshly cooked food etcetera so was happy with that, however the gentleman who was waiting on (the owner?) seemed to be distracted with clearing up and resetting tables rather than taking our order and when the food arrived some was not very hot. One of the dishes even had a bit of cling film on it. The food is not the usual quality of Thai food which can be obtained elsewhere in the area. It was my companions first foray into Thai food and sadly it was a disappointment.

My tip is go early. They are only open weds-sat and every night it is busy. Don't go if you are pushed for time or want a fast meal. It is great food served when it is cooked - if it's busy you have to wait. It's a small family run restaurant and The gentleman runs round all night doing all the serving, drinks, bills all himself With no other staff helping. The prices are very reasonable especially on £5 curry nights (weds/Thurs) the golden curry is highly recommended.

This is a quaint little place that could easily be missed in the little village of Wrea Green. Yes, the decoration is dated (as are a few Thai places in the area) but this doesn't usually put us off - this usually means the food will be better than those fancy looking places in Manchester which are all style over substance. I assume the place is family run, and when the restaurant was full the service was a little slow as the gentleman was on his own, but polite and friendly all the same. The food was very good quality and great value - our final bill was relatively cheap compared to other nearby Thai restaurants. The only small criticism I would have is that the portions were a little small for our liking, however this won't put us off visiting again. They also do £5 for a curry and rice on Wednesdays and Thursdays - I haven't tried that personally but this is very good value!

I went here over the weekend for the first time and was not disappointed. Although the decor inside is not the most modern the food compensates for this, in addition, I was extremely surprised about the pricing of the main meals which were extremely cheap in comparison to the other Thai restaurants in the Fylde Coast area. Initially, there were only a few other couples in the restaurant but within half an hour, ALL the tables got filled - proving to be an extremely popular place. The beef Thai salad, mixed starters and Massaman curry were top notch! I would highly recommend people to consider trying this restaurant as we will be back :)I think that this place would be even more popular if the restaurant was correctly listed on Tripadvisor - it does not come under Thai restaurants when choosing by cuisine.

Great food and won't hurt the wallet. Be mindful of Thai restaurants that do charge a lot, they more often than not translate to a sub par Thai dining experience. Orathai is the real deal.

I have been here twice with my Grandma recently who lives locally. On Wednesday & Thursday they have a £5 deal on and I have to say the quality of the ingredients is truly exceptional and the attention of the staff is first class. I have had the Pad Thai Prawn Curry and Thai Green Curry. My G'ma had the Golden Thai Curry as it is more fragrant than 'spicey'. I also had the scallops once which were delicious. Ditto the spring rolls. Washed down with a few Singha beers = One Happy Customer. Whenever I am back up North I will always ensure fro now on that a visit to Orathai is on the agenda. It is a very relaxed, family operation and well worth a visit to one of the best kept villages in the country.

Wonderful food in an unhurried atmosphere served by polite and happy people..... What's not to like? This small restaurant is ideal for the small picturesque village of Wrea Green and is a well kept secret. I have eaten there on many occasions and have never come away feeling anything other than satisfied with the food, service and value. I almost feel that I want to keep it secret but the proprietor is such a welcoming gent that I feel obliged to share! There are offers of a £5 curry night on Wednesdays & Thursdays but the value goes beyond those days as does the courtesy & welcome.... One tip... Don't travel without booking.... Although he does his best to accommodate everyone there are times that visitors are turned away due to its small yet comfortable size..... Takeaways are available but not at the drop of a hat so order well in advance of your time to eat!

We visited this Thai restaurant recently for a family celebration. The restaurant is small and very quaint. There is plenty of choice on the menu and the food was very tasty and well presented. The service from the owner was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. The waitress helping out was also very courteous & friendly. It was a Saturday night and all the tables were taken, so make sure you book.

We are here one evening during our holiday at Ribby Hall, just about a mile away. We were very impressed with both the food and the service. We were so pleased with the food and menu choice that on another evening we ordered a takeaway - excellent and definitely recommended.

Went here for a friends birthday and wasn't disappointed. It was a Thursday night and didn't realise that it as £5.00 curry night until we arrived. We only saw one person, but he greeted us at the door, showed us to our table, took our drinks order and food order and served us throughout with food and drinks. Nothing too much trouble, didn't have any unnecessary waiting and the food was beautiful, and reasonably priced. The portions were just the right size too, it's not very often that I clear my plate at a Thai restaurant - it was lovely. I Will definitely go there again and would highly recommend.

We live locally and decided on a last minute early evening meal out. Friends of mine highly rate this place for their take aways. Decor very definitely old fashioned and certainly nothing special. I was disappointed with starters platter as just not enough on it, but tasty enough. Didn't do children's portions. When the main meals arrived we felt let down with what appeared to be a small portion. I ordered the Thai green curry and rice. The rice came in a tiny teeny weeny bowl. However I must say, I left feeling full and the curry was delicious. I was finger licking the bowl! The place seemed to fill up very quickly despite it being mid week which was nice to see. If I wanted a low key night out with my hubi then I'd be happy to go again. Something a bit more special then I'd go elsewhere. The service wasn't all that special either. One thing I must comment on is that the toilets could do with a good hot wipe down. Looked dirty and dust was thick on the plastic plant on top of the loo cistern. I always use the state of the toilets as a way to judge the cleanliness of the kitchen.

i go there at least once a week and never realised that they were on trip advisor until I saw the sticker in the window last week.it is a very small cosy restaurant where the owner run the floor on his own and his partner cooks in the kitchen.the food is simply and full of flavour. manu guests are regular as it is a reasonable price and very personal restaurant.they do a fantastic £5.00 curry on Wednesday and Thursday and that is why we are going there so often, reasonably priced but never to the detriment of quality.the steamed dumpling, hot & Sour Soup, pepper & Garlic King Prawn and many other dishes are fantastic.if you go there and do not like it I would be very surprised.go there and you will not be disappointed.well done Orathai and i wish that there were more restaurateur like you!!!!

This place is a little gem! It was absolutely packed when we arrived but the lovely waitress accomodated us straight away. I agree with the previous review, it does feel like you are eating in someone's living room! But the food makes up for that. The food was fresh, tasty & fantasticly fragrant. We had a pleasantly surprising experience. We would definitely recommend this place for Thai food in the fylde area.

We have just returned from a visit here based on the good reviews on there and also a recommendation from someone at work. Unfortunately it was incredibly disappointing! We love Thai food, have travelled to Thailand several times so know how good authentic thai food is and also eat regularly in decent thai places in Manchester, so were quite excited to see a Thai place in the Preston area and thought we'd give it a go. The place was empty when we arrived, the decor as said before is very dated and looks like someone's living room. The guy who greeted us didn't look overly happy to be there but was polite enough. We ordered spring rolls and chicken satay for starters. I highly believe they were microwaved, they reminded me of the type you buy in the supermarket - also I could hear a lot of beeping that sounded like a microwave coming from the kitchen before our starters came out and also just before the table next to us starters came out.For mains we ordered chicken in pepper and garlic sauce and Weeping Tiger (Beef in some kind of sauce - sorry can't remember what exactly), and also a side of veg and egg fried rice. You didn't get very much chicken, the sauce wasn't overly flavourful and generally just tasted a bit bland. My boyfriend said his beef was ok, nothing special but better than my chicken. We dared to order desert, my boyfriend had the apple caramel pie, I had the chockarocka cake. My cake was supposed to be a biscuit base with chocolate and white chocolate mouse on top. It was actually a biscuit base with ice cream on top, but afer eating a bit more we realised it was mousse but it was frozen.Overall, if I had received this as a take away I may have been a bit happier. It was basically very basic, bland thai food. Would not go back and wouldn't recommend it at all.

My husband and I visited Orathai recently. We found the staff to be very welcoming and attentive. If you enjoy eating in exquisite, trendy, decor surroundings, then this is not the restaurant for you. On the other hand, if you enjoy beautiful tastes and an intimate setting, then it is. You do feel as though you are sat in a living room in the 1980's and the wallpaper does need to be brought into this century but we prefer good food rather than judging the setting. It was very clean. We had the Golden platter to start which included extremely Devine Satay chicken, spring rolls, Sesame prawn toast, fish cakes served with peanut and sweet chilli sauce. We both thoroughly enjoyed our main meals. At first view, we both thought the portions looked small but we certainly did not feel hungry afterwards. Our three course meal, three glasses of wine and a large bottle of sparkling wine came to a snip at £50. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable culinary delight.
