Opera Restaurant in Doncaster

we decided to try this restaurant 17 Oct 2024. The drinks order was wrong, the bruschetta starter, least said about that the better. but the award is split, my Pizza was stone cold and undercooked. i complained to the waitress, she reported this, within a couple of minute, i was confronted by ( the owner or Chef) i was informed that firstly it wasn't undercooked, he then preceded to pick up my pizza to show me that the bottom was cooked, he then stormed off to the kitchen. A couple of mins later the same Pizza re appeared "piping hot" unfortunately this was now inedible. it was now basically cardboard. Complained again and was told in no certain terms than no one else had complained and it was down to my personal taste. later he decided that we wouldn't be charged for the pizza. When the bill was paid, an apology was given, and a fresh pizza should have been given ( we were going to see a show that started at 7.30pm, the original pizza was delivered to us just after 7pm. A further review will be posted to trip advisor with photos. It is safe to say that we will never be visiting this establishment again

Opera in Doncaster feels like a little slice of Italy right in town, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite spots. I keep coming back for the chicken with parmesan sauce and the lasagna. The chicken is so tender, served in a rich, creamy sauce that’s just bursting with flavor. And the lasagna? It’s comforting and satisfying, with each layer blending together perfectly. Both dishes taste like they’ve come straight from an Italian kitchen, which is rare to find. Whether you’re in the mood for a cozy dinner or just craving some genuine Italian comfort food, Opera is a fantastic choice. The combination of delicious dishes and a warm, welcoming vibe keeps me coming back for more. I can’t wait for my next visit and would definitely recommend Opera to anyone in Doncaster looking for an authentic Italian meal.

Superb food. Brought my mum here for dinner this evening and the staff and food all amazing. I had the sea food spaghetti and garlic bread which was divine. Staff were even thoughtful enough to cut my elderly mum's pizza and were very accommodating. Really relaxing vibe, lovely restaurant

Very old fashioned - Food was average to be honest, not the best we have had, other Italian restaurants in Doncaster alot better and drinks are ridiculously priced too.

The staff were very welcoming, they were happy to go through the menu and offer Gluten Free options which was good for myself. The food was so tasty and went well with their house red wine. Would definitely recommend to others.

They reluctantly [not really. He pretended] let us in without a booking and it was very good. I promised to book next time. Ideal for visiting the theatre

Food was OK but was told they did gluten free pasta and my son had a very bad tummy after eating what we was told was gluten free pasta

Staff are great but the food tasted like a microwave pasta meal.

We had a lovely pre show meal in this very traditional restaurant. Excellent service and lovely food, with a very extensive menu. Always a warm welcome. We will be back.

4 of us turned up unannounced early on a Saturday evening and they fitted us in. Nice rustic Italian Restaurant. Good food and efficient friendly service. 3 decent bottled lagers. Hope they get the draught lager back on tap 👍

Authentic Italian with a great menu. Everyone in our party enjoyed superb starters, pasta dishes and main courses and everyone’s food was delicious. Deserts were fabulous and a great range of drinks and fantastic wine list. All round great evening out. Service excellent too! Well done Opera, we’ll be back soon.

What a gem of a place! Came here for a date night and it was perfect. The staff are warm and friendly, we had 3 courses and everything was cooked beautifully. Looking forward to our next visit already, thank you!

Fantastic food set in a relaxed atmosphere, the owners were friendly and the service was second to none. Will will be having a return visit very soon.

Garlic mushrooms very boring. Not even any bread with it. Lasagne just tasted of tomato sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Sorry but wouldn't go again.

Today we were welcomed by the friendly and very helpful owners of this lovely restaurant. We’d got lost trying to find this restaurant so they helped and guided us. The food too was tasty, there’s an extensive menu and the service was excellent.

An Italian restaurant that serves real authentic Italian dishes. And is owned and run by Italians. Definitely worth a visit.

As always ... Great menus, Quality food, professional friendly service, super location, cosy relaxing environment, very fair prices , excellent throughout Maybe consider having a downstairs toilet at some point

A warm welcome from the hosts orders and delivery very prompt. Sunday early evening visit . Such a shame we were three of only six customer s. Very evident of the COVID epidemic . Food was delicious hot . Would return wishing owners a prosperous new year would be a shame to loose such an authentic restaurant that has traded for 26 years.

Love this place. Slightly pricey, but it's very good authentic Italian food. We used to go there in combo with a theatre trip. Hopefully will again one day.

We have been 6 people in there eating 5 different food type served with fresh vegetables; the food have been delicious and the staff was welcoming as in Italy with an unbelievable design elements with a story behind every little thing and painting. The tiramisu was also absolutely amazing in taste. I recommend this place, Next time I will try my favorite pasta carbonara . Microwaved food in a restuarant that hasn't changed since pre war britain. If the owners are happy with customers seeing the area where they sit, I dread to think what the kitchen is like. Also, i really hope any Italian doesn't get fooled into thinking Doncaster's 'authentic' Italian restaurant is going to be anything like the food they enjoy at home. Save yourself a lot of money, pick up a pizza from any supermarket

I have visited this restaurant many times over the last 25 years and I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal. Tonight didnt disappoint. Delicious food & great service. The Semifreddo was fab!💯❤❤

Always a great experience coming to Opera, and today was no different. Obviously we couldn't eat at the restaurant today so we took up the offer of a takeaway for our Mother's Day meal. The food was beautiful as ever. Thanks for being a great family-run institution in Doncaster!

Used to go here when I worked at Cast and thought it was great but went in in a group of 6 last night for a really quick bite to eat before having to get back to work and Francesco was so unbelievably rude to us because the first 3 people he asked about drinks wanted tap water and to not order a drink (having said we were in a rush and at work and also... basic human right to just ask for tap water!) he was telling us how this costs him money... he hadn’t even got round to asking the rest of the table (I was actually thinking of getting a coffee but hey) we were all ordering food but we ended up walking out because of his attitude and the way he spoke to us. If he would prefer to lose £100 on food from a big group over a couple of glasses of tap water then that’s his problem. Do not go here if you want to feel welcome.

Would recommend the fillet royal steak. The sauce is very tasty. The tiramisu is to die for as is the panacotta. The service is fantastic. Nice atmosphere. Really friendly staff. Quality food.

This is an excellent family run restaurant. Very friendly owners offering delicious Italian food. We were in Doncaster for a wedding and stumbled across this place. Quirky decor which has clearly been built up over time. The word authentic springs to mind.

Food good. Italian cuisine produced by an Italian chef. Opera has an Italian / English couple in charge. Both delightful and very friendly. Nothing too much trouble & they will get you to the theatre opposite on time. The decor is tired downstairs. The 1st floor room is very poor and could do with a complete makeover, and in the winter so effective heating. However it looks as if its only used as an overflow room. Still it could be more inviting.
