OnePlanet Adventure Cafe in Denbighshire

On a recent visit for a days cycling at Oneplanet Llandegla, we decided to call into the onsite cafe for lunch. Menu looked interesting instead of boring sandwiches and salads Anyway, I decided to go for the Moroccan Flatbread….something different. This is where it went wrong. The kitchen and preparation area is open for everyone to see. The person who was preparing the flatbreads was using a dirty stained tea towel to hold them whilst adding the filling. No plastic/rubber gloves were used, and said person was rubbing their had all over their clothes whilst prepping food. This put me right off ordering food from this cafe. Can the cafe owners take note and quickly improve their food hygiene.

A nice interesting menu for a change instead of death by cheese toasty! We can recommend the freshly cooked and very tasty flatbreads! Too full to try the cakes! Interesting building in a lovely surroundings. We have used the walking trails and MTB courses and enjoyed them both. We have enjoyed our visit 😁

After a really good ride round the forest (with no complaints about the trail or bike shop) we decided to have lunch. Little bit of a queue, but nowt to grumble about. Menu is painted on a wall behind counter and is really difficult to work thru. Not very inspiring and decided on a curry as thought that’s pretty hard to cock up. Mrs ordered a chicken flatbread. 45 mins later decided to check where food was and when it was finally served, curry was stone cold and tasteless and flatbread had hardly any chicken in it. Definitely not worth the wait and curry was sent back. Couldn’t be bothered waiting another 45 mins again so left pretty sharpish.

Been here several times and a few things need mentioning. Firstly riders get cold quickly when they are off the hill and the door is constantly flapping about open so no heat is retained making it a cold environment……. Food is if GOOD QUALITY however it’s not cheap and I wouldn’t mind so much but the it’s very slow coming out. This isn’t a one off I have eaten there plenty of times but todays wait made me leave this review. I ordered a latte, can of pop. Portion toast and Mac n Cheese. 47 minutes later ……..it arrived. I am chef and own restaurant and if your chef/cook can’t turn out a portion of toast and Mac n Cheese in under 10 mins (15 if he’s particular) then you have the wrong chef. Also the dining area was not overly busy. As a result I will head to greggs en route home next time. It’s happened too many times now and at the prices you are changing you NEED TO ADDRESS THIS.
