Delightful little restaurant... comfortable and intimate. Great choice from the menu. I had seafood for both courses which was hot fresh and delicious, the mussels were from the main menu and the hake and scallops were from the specials board (recommended by the waiter..good choice!) for dessert I had the quirky edible book...it wasnt a good read but it tasted great! The restaurant was full which is always a good sign! Nice lighting and music complemented the polite and attentive service from the two servers at the front for whom nothing was too much trouble. Nice chat with the owner too who had time despite it being the end of the night! I would recommend this place to any one for all the reasons above and will seek it out again when I come back to East Kilbride! Thanks to all at Once upon a Table!

Sister found place by chance & so glad she did. The food was gorgeous & well presented , staff very attentive. Good choice on the menu & very reasonably priced. So glad my sister found this place, sad I live so far away or I would be a regular. Will definitely return if on the area & would highly recommended

I ordered mussels for a starter, and they were great, seabass for my main, which was nice and sticky toffee pudding, which was also nice. I wasn't completely blown away, but it was a lunchtime special, and for £18 it was great value. Thank you.

My boyfriend and I came here on a date night after reading the positive reviews. Our server was possibly just having an off night, because he left after only one of us had placed a drink order, and proceeded to be very short with us for the rest of the evening. When I got my seafood pasta, the spaghetti was stuck together in clumps like it hadn’t been stirred, but otherwise the entrees were alright. We ordered the signature book dessert which had a Black Forest sponge if I’m remembering correctly, unfortunately the sponge was very dry. We also got the piña colada cheesecake, which was weirdly lukewarm? Unsure if that was intentional. Overall a novelty experience but not somewhere we’ll go back to.

One Upon A Table is definitely ‘a hidden gem’ the food is delicious, beautifully presented and great quality. The staff are friendly and professional and the service was first class. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Came here as was staying for the weekend and found this restaurant on Google with amazing reviews, so booked for dinner. What a little gem it is! The food was outstanding, beautifully cooked and presented, tasted delicious. The atmosphere was welcoming and the staff attentive and polite. Been here a few times now. We have never been disappointed The food, service and staff are all top class . Value for money is also very hard to beat In my opinion, best restaurant in East Kilbride

Visited the lunch menu, and ideally they offer a pensioners portion which suits my mum who usually enjoys a smaller portion of steak pie though this time we both ordered Haddock and chips. The restaurant is quaint, we had a window seat and we had arrived early and they were accommodating of this. We only had a main meal on this visit and it was enjoyable, the triple-cooked chips would be my only criticism they were overdone and just a bit too greasy. Lunch menu is great value for money. Will visit again next time to try the steak pie as that looks lovely.

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. 5 stars in every department and what a bonus to be located right on our doorstep. Popped in last night after hearing so many great reviews and so glad that we did. We'll definitely be making it a regular occurrence.

Oh my word, the food here is incredible! Shame that the acoustics are like sticking your head inside the drum of a washing machine (that is on... And turning... And has the contents of a toolbox in it). Lack of soft furnishings means it's incredibly difficult to hear yourself think once the patrons get chatting. Still, don't let that put you off, just lose yourself in the food...

Had dinner here whilst visiting EK. What a find! The atmosphere, service food and value were nothing short of exceptional. Well worth a visit and we will certainly travel back just for many more visits.

We went to do laundry and this place is 2 doors down. Everything was great. I had the chicken Diane and my son had beef wellington.I highly recommend.

What a wee gem, recently moved to EK, this is our new favourite restaurant, been 4 times, will be back many more times. The food is divine, friendly promt service, lovely decor and atmosphere.

Have tried a few restaurants in the town whilst visiting relatives but this is by far the best

Yet another really good quality meal in this hidden gem. The ambiance, food choice and quality and staff are all great. Been several times now and never had a bad meal. The £25 2 course special is excellent value for money. The food is cooked to order and the complimentary amuse bouche were very well received. Last night I enjoyed the starter of mussels followed by chicken in a gorgeous creamy sauce on a bed of roast carrots and broccoli.

Came across this hidden gem of a restaurant on Facebook we decided to Try here on Saturday with family for lunch first of all the restaurant itself is lovely and cosy inside with a nice relaxing atmosphere the staff are very friendly and attentive and anything not on the menu they will try and accommodate as best as possible the food is the best food myself have had in long time everything was cooked to perfection food wine and drinks great value for money can't wait to come back again one of my favourite restaurant in a long time will be definitely be recommend to others thanks Mark and team for a lovely time

2nd time here, lovely restaurant, atmosphere ideal with subtle background music. Food was amazing, couldn't fault a thing. Staff were welcoming and friendly without being intrusive. Highly recommend, you won't be disappointed.

Lovely restaurant, shame about the hair in the pie. Worse that when I mentioned it to staff I was ignored and then charged full price for it. Even worse when I called them I was hung up on. Better off at Greggs next door.

We had booked for pre theatre and food and restaurant were great. On booking it stated we had table till 7pm however just after 6 30 another party arrived for our table and we had to leave. It is a very small restaurant so space is at a premium but what is stated at booking should be honoured. This won't stop me returning but I will now be aware a booking is only for 2 hours.

My husband and I were honestly looking for a laundry service and found one right next to this restaurant. It was simply out of convenience that we were just going to eat here, but I was extremely pleased with what we found. This place was amazing and I couldn't have found a better place to eat. I got the ham crochet, and it was not your traditional type of crochet. It had shredded ham and cheese served on a bed of marinated veggies. I ordered the beef steak pie with puff pastry, and I must say, it had been the best I've had so far. The servers were all welcoming as it was Saturday, and we didn't have a reservation. They accepted us and welcomed us to come in for dinner. It really was such a perfect unexpected meal, and I highly recommend even driving out of your way for this place.

Loved our birthday Sunday lunch here, amazing food and friendly staff. Will definitely revisit.

Fantastic food and probably one of the best restaurants in Scotland.

My Dad, daughter and I had lunch today and the food was delicious. My Dad and I had the steak pie. The meat was cooked perfectly, the gravy was lovely and the pastry was light and crispy. My daughter is fussy so she only had chips but enjoyed them. The service was great too. Nick, our server, was friendly, polite and attentive. I will definitely be back.

Popped in for some lunch on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Service was quick and friendly, food was lovely and for a good price. Would happily come back to try more options from the menu.

Came here last night for a meal for the first time trying it. Have to say it did not disappoint. The meal was fantastic. Cannot fault it the service was really good made you feel so welcome . Can't wait until i come back, which will be soon. I would highly recommend it here

Fitted us in late on a Saturday at short notice. We both had the special fish scallops and tempura asparagus and it was delicious and a good size. I had a duo of duck and wouldn't hesitate to order it again, my wife had lamb fillet which was also top drawer. Deserts were excellent as well and the price was excellent. Would recommend to anyone to visit.

Food was fabulous, staff were perfect, good mix of being attentive and helpful but leaving us be so not overpowering at all. The Menabrea on tap was lovely too. I would recommend to anyone and wish them great success, it is a place I will hopefully return to many times. Portion sizes were perfect allowing us to have three courses without feeling uncomfortable.

We went for a pre-theatre and couldn’t have made a better choice. Firstly the welcome and attention from our waiter was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We were made to feel at ease thanks to his cheerful welcoming personality. The food was excellent. Great choice on the menu and all items were excellent quality . The food was served at a relaxed but not slow pace- just right to allow us to enjoy the experience.

Our meal at Once upon a Table was disappointing , the starter of mussels was very over seasoned. For main course my steak was tasty , however my husband’s fish and chips was poor , the batter was soggy and undercooked . He explained this to our waitress and she couldn’t have been any less interested , just took his plate away and didn’t apologise or offer any replacement dish . For this reason we wouldn’t return , the meal was not cheap and the service from this particular waitress was really poor . What a pity as we had been looking forward to trying this local restaurant

Partner liked the food more than me. Suspect the fish wasn't haddock but Pollock or cod. Very slow service, took 2 hours for the meal. Very noisy due to the small size.

This restaurant is small and intimate with a fairly extensive, mouth-watering menu. Ambience was perfect for us with candles and low-level lighting. Tempura vegetables to start and lamb fillets for main were memorable. Will definitely be back 👍

It was my first visit. My wife had been before and was impressed. Quite a small restaurant, but they managed to give everyone enough space. Service was prompt, and our server was attentive and knowledgeable. I would rate the food quality as exceptional.

Visited Once Upon a Table today 26/02/24 for lunch. Absolutely pleasantly surprised wasn’t sure about trying due to first impressions from outside, prime reason why one should never judge a book by the cover. Absolutely Great Restaurant every course WOW my friend and I compliments to the chef. The waiter was so professional and friendly amazing personal touch from decor to environment to the service to the menu. Everything was Excellent.

Went to this restaurant tonight with friends that we were staying with. Absolutely gorgeous meal, fantastic service, and the the Chocolate spheres for desert were devine. There were 5 of us, we had 3 courses plus drinks and wine. It was very good value for money. Definitely recommend this place.

Another fabulous night at Once upon a table. We were a large party in on a busy night. The service was excellent and the food delicious.

Stumbled upon this amazing place by chance on TripAdvisor. Booked it for a 22nd birthday and it was the best choice. The atmosphere is brilliant, playing music that wasn’t too loud or too quiet. Server was amazing and was happy to answer all our questions. It was the best burger I’ve ever had, so tasty and the portions were perfect sized. Can’t wait to come back here!

This place is the definition of a hidden gem! 💎 Came to the restaurant for 7pm booking, the place was packed. One of the best waiters I've experienced in a long time. Explained that a few folk were just finishing up, he directed me to a pub a few shops down. 10 minutes later he came to this bar and escorted us to our table. Outstanding service! I ordered the steak sizzler, omg it was out of this world. Honestly team, the place is amazing. We will be back again and again.

Love this restaurant, we've been quite a few times now and have never been disappointed . The food is always presented beautifully and tastes amazing, on our visit this time we had the tomahawk steak and both of us loved it, the accompiant of baby baked potatoes with cheese leek and onion filling was absolutely delicious, compliments to the chef. The waiter was a delightful young man, extremely polite and pleasant. We can't wait for our next visit

Excellent service, second to none. The food was exceptional. Excellent value for money. Lovey, intimate atmosphere. Toilets are spotlessly clean. pièce de résistance was the Molten Brown hand wash and hand lotion in the toilets.

Surf and turf deal, certainly wasn't fillet steak, tough overcooked, sinuay and full of gristle.. Had to ask for sauce and prawns, 6 small cold prawns is not acceptable.. My partner didn't want a fuss but I complained to waiter who looked embarrassed at rubbish meat left on plate. This wasn't cheap and overall bill nearly £80...we went home for beans on toast as starving.. It didn't seem a normal night.

Purchased Surf and Turf deal to enjoy after new year for partners belated birthday. Ok, where to start.. service good, sizzling steak..??.. Was definitely not fillet as purchased, had to ask for sauce and prawns.. Huge chunks of tough inedible meat, 6 small salad prawns... just awful, not sure what was wrong and waiter looked embarrassed 🙁.... Can't believe I left wanting beans on toast....

Sunday dinner was excellent. Dined out here a few times before and never been disappointed by the food or the staff what did spoil it tonight was the professional moaner at another table who repeatedly was overheard saying how lovely the food was but complained to staff how dreadful it was. Some folk!! Why can’t they just enjoy a night out without making it miserable for others.

I have used the restaurant regularly for corporate entertaining and never been disappointed. Most recently we booked it out for our annual staff /client party and it was amazing . Mark and his team were happy to deal with all our requests and nothing was too much trouble .The food was excellent and good value not the normal restrictive Christmas menu. This restaurant deserves all its success and I highly recommend .

Had such a wonderful evening meal here with family. It has a lovely cosy atmosphere and the staff were attentive. It's a very busy place and can see why as the food was fantastic , will definitely be back and recommending to friends.

We called to book a table and were told 4.30pm or 8.30pm was available. After checking it suited us all, we called back and confirmed the time. The young man confirmed 4.30pm once again and took our deposit. When we arrived they reckoned we were late, which we gently disputed. They made up a table and we carried on with our evening. It was only after we had eaten our starter and were selecting our main course that the waiter informed us that we would need to vacate our table by 5.50pm. Giving us 1hr and 20mins to eat a three course meal. We were shocked and angry that they waited to tell us this after we had started our meal. If we had known we would have chosen to leave and go elsewhere. The owner couldn’t have cared less and would not consider the fact that the restaurant could be at fault. Arrogant doesn’t justify his tone or dismissive manner. He just couldn’t care. His only concern was to get us out for a big booking that was coming in. They wouldn’t serve us a drink, in case it delayed our exit. Although the food was nice, it wasn’t worth us all leaving with indigestion. They are also packing customers into a small area, very claustrophobic. Beware and double check your booking time or consider trying one of the many other, more spacious restaurants in EK. We certainly will not return.

Just had lunch here and what can I say..service was impeccable and food was exquisite..had the beef shin Wellington which was lovely..would highly recommend to anyone looking for some topclass food to pop in and give it a try .Will definitely be back..keep up the great work guys..

Just superb, belated birthday lunch with friend. Gorgeous prosecco and Whispering Angel rose wine, yes we did eat as well, my friend had the cauliflower starter I had the chicken tempura, both fab. I chose the seabass with ratatouille and sautéed potato, friend chose chicken....

Well I don't do reviews .this is an exception as the establishment is an exception.. Food was top notch ( we usedto own restaurants) so have an idea .. Now that aside .. STAFF..were excellent ,staff make it in 20 miles from it ,passed 100s...
