Went last weekend for lunch and as usual, the food and service were second to none This place never disappoints and value for money is exceptional.

First time here, and not disappointed, we came on a Sunday for a belated valentine meal, I had pate to start my partner the haddock fishcakes, both were lovely, for mains I had chicken roast and partner had steak pie, can't fault anything other than the steak pie was cold, this was dealt with promptly and we had a lovely meal, btw, I will be having the steak pie next time as the gravy was to die for ... Ended with liquor coffees, again perfect, all in all lovely meal perfect service, I would definitely recommend

Lovely restaurant which we had heard good things about, it was definitely worth the visit. Good choice of dishes, prepared and served without overdue waiting and it looked and tasted lovely. Staff were helpful and all round great visit. Definitely will be there again. Highly recommended

Once upon a table is a small and intimate restaurant in East kilbride village. It's serves well made comfort food. For starters I had smoked haddock and black pudding crochet which was very flavoursome. 8.5/10 For main was fillet steak with potatoes and veg which was cooked to perfection and had a lovely chargrill on it. 9/10 Desert was raspberry ripple cheese cake with white chocolate chip ice cream. 8.5/10. Overall I would recommend once upon a table and give it a solid 8.5/10.

Wonderful, 5 star restaurant - What more could you say? The staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, music not too loud and busy for a mid-week night. The food was fabulous, stylishly presented and full of flavour. ‘Amuse Bouche’ canapé nibbles were a delightful surprise to tickle the tastebuds! We all chose from the set menu at £23 for 2 courses, only a bit extra for the third desert course - a really good price point. The Chicken Tempura starter was warmly spiced with a fresh crunchy chopped side salad and the Loch Fyne Mussels were perfectly cooked, with sourdough garlic bread to dip in the wine sauce. For mains our party of three chose the Beef Duo, Lamb Rump & Fish & Chips - all were fantastic! Deserts were also delicious. A really great experience at very good value from their set menu - we’ll definitely return, again and again! Whether you’re looking for an intimate dinner for two, or a friends and family event , I can only recommend that this restaurant - just wonderful.

We went for dinner tonight 19th January. This is a little gem, the atmosphere was lovely, fabulous food, friendly staff & freezing cold Sauvignon 👌 will definitely go back & would highly recommend thank you !!!

I booked on line for 7.30 for a table for two and also made a visit to the restaurant the day before to request the table at the window ,it was explained it would depend on the booking of larger parties but when we arrived the table requested was occupied only by two people who left just five minutes after we were seated between two tables of four making us feel that we were part of their party ,before I got the chance to request a move to the requested table the was given to another walk-in customer. We ordered a drink and our order was taken and then waited 45minutes for our starter to arrive , my wife enjoyed her starter but had the Mussels that were just like what I have purchased in Aldi, Then we had to wait a further 30minutes for our main course to arrive and both my wife and I were very disappointed with our mains ,I had the Lamb that over cooked a very fatty and was served with a carrot and burnt potatoes in a small dish on the side my wife had the monkfish sitting what look like a plate of mush and also served with a dish of burnt potatoes . I also spoke with the table next to us and were of the same opinion that the experience was very disappointing and wouldn't use the place again . After reading all the wonderful reviews posted I booked based on this only to be so disappointed and feel that the past reviews must have been for some other restaurant given our experience.

Unfortunately, our experience here was not the best. When we arrived our table wasn’t ready, that was no problem except the restaurant is so small that we had nowhere to stand except the door which was letting cold air in for the other diners. When we were shown to our table, it was so close to the people sitting on either side that when people were sitting down or going to the toilet, their behinds were moving the candle, menus etc on our table. Same with the waiters. It was very busy, which is good to see but in such a small establishment, you do feel a bit squeezed in. I also noticed everyone got free little canapés, we didn’t get ours until I mentioned. (These were lovely) The starter of bread with oil was 6 large slices of bread cut in half. Very unappetising, and just not what was expected. One slice was ate. We got filet steak for mains, cooked medium. When the steak arrived, it was so rare and chewy, I couldn’t eat it. I couldn’t get anyone’s attention as the staff were really busy. In the end, I think it may have been the owner or manager that came and took our plates. He would have noticed I didn’t barely touch any of my main, but he just scooped it away. At no time throughout any of our meal were we approached and asked how things were. When paying for the bill, they charged us twice for the filet. That’s fine, mistakes can be made but overall I feel we were kind of left unattended most of the night whilst other tables had waiters serving and their wine poured and asking how their meals were. On this particular occasion I do not feel we experienced good food or service unfortunately. A shame as other reviews suggest this is a lovely place to dine and I heard customers saying how they enjoyed their meals. Maybe we were just unlucky.

Beautiful meal, mussels were the best I have ever eaten. From Loch Fyne I believe. I've eaten alot of mussels over the years. Both had steak and Diane sauce, roast potatoes, mushrooms and broccoli. Beautiful meal.

I came here twice in as many days this December!! I love it here, it’s one of my favourite places to eat out in EK. Always busy, great service & food. Only downside is that it is quite compact. Friday I had lunch - sea bass (yum) followed by the apple & pear crumble (also yum!). Saturday I was back again, this time for dinner with different companions. This time I had the haddock & black pudding croquette, followed by the roast Turkey which was super moist (though the roast potatoes were a bit disappointing as not crispy) and then the Baileys cheesecake (couldn’t taste the Baileys to be honest, but it was still delicious). Fab cocktails too! I can highly recommend the French Martini!!

Avoid this establishment at all costs if you are dining with children as it is not catered for them at all. We dinned today at 12:30 with 2 children under 3 and a half which they were aware of on the booking. My little boy has sensory issues and was kicking his feet on the booth side which was banging the wood. We were in the process of address this as we are well aware it was making noise for a female member of staff to rudely approach us and tell us he had to stop as it was making noise in the kitchen. Sorry but he is 3 and an half and I’ve worked in hospitality for many years and have had children making much more noise. The baby changing facility also doesn’t work as the make shift table doesn’t go down which resorted to me having to change my youngest on the floor. They also don’t stock any children’s juice. Such as shame as the food was actually really nice.

Have visited before and food and service was spot on. Visited with several family members recently and ordered from the festive set menu. Whilst a reasonable price point, sadly found the food very mediocre this time. Serving staff were lovely but felt we were all rushed out the door when our hour and three quarters was up. Don't think we would return.

The food was very nice with generous portion sizes. The restaurant was super busy, which was nice to see, but we were a little shoe horned in & bumped from time to time from staff back & forwards from the kitchen. We also felt a little hurried at times as its clear they want to turn the tables as quickly as possible. Overall, the staff were lovely working really hard. We'll come back next time we're in EK & recommend to others.

You can hardly get booked for here and it’s easy to see why. Great food cooked exceptionally well, great atmosphere and fantastic service We had steak pie, sea bass and sticky toffee pudding, all of which were amazing! What more could you ask for! Booking for next week, can’t wait to try the Christmas menu!

First visit on strength of its high rating and certainly scores high on service, atmosphere and value. Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed the food which was first class and def a touch of fine dining eventually to experience in town, other half was under whelmed whether it was her choice don't know , but think we need to return so that she can try something else. From my view, its TA standing is worthy

Excellent from start to finish, service 10/10, food 10/10, atmosphere 10/10 We travelled over 30 miles for a birthday celebration and it did not disappoint, if you're looking for top notch food that leaves you feeling satisfied this is the place

First time visiting Once upon a Table, and it certainly won’t be the last. The staff were friendly and welcoming, great atmosphere which felt cosy and comfortable, and the food was delicious. By far the best Sunday roast I’ve found in the area. You don’t have to choose between beef or chicken either, they give you both! Would highly recommend.

Once again we had a lovely meal in beautiful surroundings. The sirloin steak is absolutely amazing. Will be back again asap.

Fantastic value with the lunch and pre theatre menu. Food is top notch. I went for the first time through the week and enjoyed it so much I booked in again for the weekend with the family. All food was cooked to perfection. Lovely, cosy atmosphere. Good service. Attentive but not in your face. The desserts are amazing. Great choice. We will most certainly be back again and highly recommend.

+Inviting atmosphere. +Courteous and professional staff who stay on top of everything at pace whilst providing excellent service. +The people I asked said the food was 5 stars. The steak pie and the profiteroles went down well, as did the fish. (I did not eat, so the food star rating is based on my party's feedback). +Nice toilets. -Only one vegan option (did not specify gf etc). -Had to wipe down my seat with an anti-bac wipe (stains and crumbs). -Restaurant is very loud; there were empty tables, music did not seem loud, and fellow diners were not noisy (good crowds), it would appear that the shape and size of the place is unfavorable. -The children in our group were complaining of the place being too warm, which I was inclined to agree with. -Was blinded when cars would enter or leave the parking space right outside the restaurant window (why do cars have blue highbeams as standard these days?)

I’d happily walk from Strathaven for this quality of food !

WOW. We had a table of 10 last week and the service was impeccable, food fantastic? Wine excellent, ambiance is beautiful it is small so please book early to avoid missing out and you WILL NOT be disappointed. A fantastic night. Thank you all the staff.

I would actually prefer to give 3.5 but felt as though 3 would be unfair. The food itself was nice but the portion size on the a la carte was so small. I ordered lamb which they ran out of and was offered beef which was lovely. The dish said it came with honey potatoes and it literally came with one baby sized potato sliced up, that was shockingly small for the price. I mentioned it and it was brushed off. The afternoon tea dessert was really nice and made up for the small main. The service was good at times then slow. Overall, the food is good quality but overpriced but I am still hungry and unsure I would go back which is ashsme as I stay round the corner and wanted to become a regular.

Delightful little restaurant... comfortable and intimate. Great choice from the menu. I had seafood for both courses which was hot fresh and delicious, the mussels were from the main menu and the hake and scallops were from the specials board (recommended by the waiter..good choice!) for dessert I had the quirky edible book...it wasnt a good read but it tasted great! The restaurant was full which is always a good sign! Nice lighting and music complemented the polite and attentive service from the two servers at the front for whom nothing was too much trouble. Nice chat with the owner too who had time despite it being the end of the night! I would recommend this place to any one for all the reasons above and will seek it out again when I come back to East Kilbride! Thanks to all at Once upon a Table!

Sister found place by chance & so glad she did. The food was gorgeous & well presented , staff very attentive. Good choice on the menu & very reasonably priced. So glad my sister found this place, sad I live so far away or I would be a regular. Will definitely return if on the area & would highly recommended

I ordered mussels for a starter, and they were great, seabass for my main, which was nice and sticky toffee pudding, which was also nice. I wasn't completely blown away, but it was a lunchtime special, and for £18 it was great value. Thank you.

My boyfriend and I came here on a date night after reading the positive reviews. Our server was possibly just having an off night, because he left after only one of us had placed a drink order, and proceeded to be very short with us for the rest of the evening. When I got my seafood pasta, the spaghetti was stuck together in clumps like it hadn’t been stirred, but otherwise the entrees were alright. We ordered the signature book dessert which had a Black Forest sponge if I’m remembering correctly, unfortunately the sponge was very dry. We also got the piña colada cheesecake, which was weirdly lukewarm? Unsure if that was intentional. Overall a novelty experience but not somewhere we’ll go back to.

One Upon A Table is definitely ‘a hidden gem’ the food is delicious, beautifully presented and great quality. The staff are friendly and professional and the service was first class. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Came here as was staying for the weekend and found this restaurant on Google with amazing reviews, so booked for dinner. What a little gem it is! The food was outstanding, beautifully cooked and presented, tasted delicious. The atmosphere was welcoming and the staff attentive and polite. I would definitely recommend coming here, big compliments to the chef, thank you!

Been here a few times now. We have never been disappointed The food, service and staff are all top class . Value for money is also very hard to beat In my opinion, best restaurant in East Kilbride

Visited the lunch menu, and ideally they offer a pensioners portion which suits my mum who usually enjoys a smaller portion of steak pie though this time we both ordered Haddock and chips. The restaurant is quaint, we had a window seat and we had arrived early and they were accommodating of this. We only had a main meal on this visit and it was enjoyable, the triple-cooked chips would be my only criticism they were overdone and just a bit too greasy. Lunch menu is great value for money. Will visit again next time to try the steak pie as that looks lovely.

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. 5 stars in every department and what a bonus to be located right on our doorstep. Popped in last night after hearing so many great reviews and so glad that we did. We'll definitely be making it a regular occurrence.

Oh my word, the food here is incredible! Shame that the acoustics are like sticking your head inside the drum of a washing machine (that is on... And turning... And has the contents of a toolbox in it). Lack of soft furnishings means it's incredibly difficult to hear yourself think once the patrons get chatting. Still, don't let that put you off, just lose yourself in the food...

Had dinner here whilst visiting EK. What a find! The atmosphere, service food and value were nothing short of exceptional. Well worth a visit and we will certainly travel back just for many more visits.

We went to do laundry and this place is 2 doors down. Everything was great. I had the chicken Diane and my son had beef wellington.I highly recommend.

What a wee gem, recently moved to EK, this is our new favourite restaurant, been 4 times, will be back many more times. The food is divine, friendly promt service, lovely decor and atmosphere.

Yet another really good quality meal in this hidden gem. The ambiance, food choice and quality and staff are all great. Been several times now and never had a bad meal. The £25 2 course special is excellent value for money. The food is cooked to order and the complimentary amuse bouche were very well received. Last night I enjoyed the starter of mussels followed by chicken in a gorgeous creamy sauce on a bed of roast carrots and broccoli.

Came across this hidden gem of a restaurant on Facebook we decided to Try here on Saturday with family for lunch first of all the restaurant itself is lovely and cosy inside with a nice relaxing atmosphere the staff are very friendly and attentive and anything not on the menu they will try and accommodate as best as possible the food is the best food myself have had in long time everything was cooked to perfection food wine and drinks great value for money can't wait to come back again one of my favourite restaurant in a long time will be definitely be recommend to others thanks Mark and team for a lovely time

2nd time here, lovely restaurant, atmosphere ideal with subtle background music. Food was amazing, couldn't fault a thing. Staff were welcoming and friendly without being intrusive. Highly recommend, you won't be disappointed.

Lovely restaurant, shame about the hair in the pie. Worse that when I mentioned it to staff I was ignored and then charged full price for it. Even worse when I called them I was hung up on. Better off at Greggs next door.

We had booked for pre theatre and food and restaurant were great. On booking it stated we had table till 7pm however just after 6 30 another party arrived for our table and we had to leave. It is a very small restaurant so space is at a premium but what is stated at booking should be honoured. This won't stop me returning but I will now be aware a booking is only for 2 hours.

Table for 6 on 3 May. Would like to extend my thank you and appreciation for the service & great food. Thank you to young waiter who brought our cake to the table. First class professional service. Nothing was any trouble. Really good vibe and friendly staff. Thank you guys and keep up the good work!

Can't believe ot I even enjoyed the vegetables, food was great

My husband and I were honestly looking for a laundry service and found one right next to this restaurant. It was simply out of convenience that we were just going to eat here, but I was extremely pleased with what we found. This place was amazing and I couldn't have found a better place to eat. I got the ham crochet, and it was not your traditional type of crochet. It had shredded ham and cheese served on a bed of marinated veggies. I ordered the beef steak pie with puff pastry, and I must say, it had been the best I've had so far. The servers were all welcoming as it was Saturday, and we didn't have a reservation. They accepted us and welcomed us to come in for dinner. It really was such a perfect unexpected meal, and I highly recommend even driving out of your way for this place.

Fantastic food and probably one of the best restaurants in Scotland.

My Dad, daughter and I had lunch today and the food was delicious. My Dad and I had the steak pie. The meat was cooked perfectly, the gravy was lovely and the pastry was light and crispy. My daughter is fussy so she only had chips but enjoyed them. The service was great too. Nick, our server, was friendly, polite and attentive. I will definitely be back.

Came here last night for a meal for the first time trying it. Have to say it did not disappoint. The meal was fantastic. Cannot fault it the service was really good made you feel so welcome . Can't wait until i come back, which will be soon. I would highly recommend it here

Fitted us in late on a Saturday at short notice. We both had the special fish scallops and tempura asparagus and it was delicious and a good size. I had a duo of duck and wouldn't hesitate to order it again, my wife had lamb fillet which was also top drawer. Deserts were excellent as well and the price was excellent. Would recommend to anyone to visit.

Food was fabulous, staff were perfect, good mix of being attentive and helpful but leaving us be so not overpowering at all. The Menabrea on tap was lovely too. I would recommend to anyone and wish them great success, it is a place I will hopefully return to many times. Portion sizes were perfect allowing us to have three courses without feeling uncomfortable.

We went for a pre-theatre and couldn’t have made a better choice. Firstly the welcome and attention from our waiter was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We were made to feel at ease thanks to his cheerful welcoming personality. The food was excellent. Great choice on the menu and all items were excellent quality . The food was served at a relaxed but not slow pace- just right to allow us to enjoy the experience.

Our meal at Once upon a Table was disappointing , the starter of mussels was very over seasoned. For main course my steak was tasty , however my husband’s fish and chips was poor , the batter was soggy and undercooked . He explained this to our waitress and she couldn’t have been any less interested , just took his plate away and didn’t apologise or offer any replacement dish . For this reason we wouldn’t return , the meal was not cheap and the service from this particular waitress was really poor . What a pity as we had been looking forward to trying this local restaurant

Partner liked the food more than me. Suspect the fish wasn't haddock but Pollock or cod. Very slow service, took 2 hours for the meal. Very noisy due to the small size.

Fabulous food, service and atmosphere. Went last night with friends and really loved it. 4 of us all had different starters and main courses and everything superb!
