Ole & Steen in Hounslow

First time visit. Helpful, pleasant and efficient staff. Great coffee and the cinnamon pastries - the best. Would highly recommend.

Staff were friendly but ordering was a bit chaotic and disorganized. Our food was left on the counter for several minutes without us being told it was ready so my sandwich was barely warm, on a cold plate. It was a bit expensive for what it was, but it’s Chiswick so that’s to be expected. Coffee was great though, and the atmosphere was nice when it wasn’t too full.

Your employee with fake blonde hair. Worked on 12/10 afternoon shift needs some customer service training. Rude, unprofessional and not helpful.

We spent a week staying in Chiswick, and we went to Ole & Steen most mornings to start our days. Great coffee, consistently great. And really yummy pastries! The staff were really nice and welcoming too. The cafe was generally quiet in the mornings before 10am, which was so lovely, they also offer free wifi. 😊

I go here almost every Saturday morning. I used to get a toasted croissant with gouda but then it was taken off the menu. The staff would then just make one for me, but then they said they 'werent allowed to anymore'. So then I started getting a toasted croissant. Today I was told they're 'not allowed' to toast my croissant. I am sorry to say I will never go in again. I would much rather go to an independent place that doesn't have ridiculous rules and actually wants to please their customers. My toddler used to call it 'our cafe' but after today we will be finding a new one.

Good as always!! I went there in the afternoon before they close, and they gave me an extra threat for free! Who doesn't love that?!?

I asked for freshly sliced half loaf of chia rye bread. (I am not sure if it’s stale, or from yesterday) And the staff forced me to buy a pre-sliced and bagged loaf. I was a regular customer, won’t be coming back. So disappointing.

I don't normally use this company as find their decor quite depressing to sit in, especially if it's a gloomy day outside. I decided to give them a chance but found it all quite impersonal, no acknowledgement, no eye contact from the staff and their walls and furniture could do with a good clean. I won't be returning....

Not quite so Hygge anymore. Dirty tables, chairs in booth marked and walls with splatters of drinks. Walls where painted quite scuffed and needs repainting. No lightbulbs in our overhead table, chips on plates and pictures wonky. Food still good and staff friendly but loosing its cosiness just feels a bit dirty and neglected, particularly at the back of the store.

Came into Chiswick Ole and Steen this morning and they were facing IT issues. However the two lovely young girls managed to keep everyone happy trying to figure out what was going on aswell. Came back after 30minutes and they were on a roll, serving customers with big smiles on their faces, Special shoutout to the american girl and girl with glasses for their hard work today.

Served by two lovely lady’s, certainly going to visit again. Felt very welcomed to have my breakfast here

Visited this Ole and Steen Branch on 01/09/2024 and was so impressed by the staff and their service. There was only 3 members working but they did not stop one minute and were willing to help every customer with such great attitude. The young curly barista girl was so lovely; despite the fact she was so busy with many coffee orders, she had a smile on her face and was very polite to everyone receiving their coffee and telling them to have “a great day”. Love to see staff like this and because of those 3 members I will definitely be coming back to this branch.

This is the worst branch of this chain I have ever been to - directly due to the manager The staff are incredibly rude and treat you with open disdain. I was barked at by the tall large white woman supervisor for asking for my pastry heated up. I checked with another local branch who were quite baffled that anyone would have an issue with that. These people have no business working in customer service Do not subject yourself to this branch. If you like the chain this one will put you off. AVOID

I've been going here since it opened back in 2021 as it's local to me in Chiswick and it's definitely my favourite cafe in London. Perfect coffee, perfect food. This Ole and Steen in particular has the perfect interior as well - modern but also dark and atmospheric. I had a particularly great experience with Ekaterine today going above and beyond with her help so I felt compelled to finally make a review. All the staff are great there and have been so for all the years I've been going. 5/5.

For anyone coming to this branch, know that you'll be in good hands with the staff. Awais and his colleague were very welcoming, easy to chat with and provided exemplary service. They are a credit to the their workplace, and they definitely have a repeat customer here.

Today I had the opportunity of meeting one of the best workers at Ole and Steen who goes by the name of Owais. Let’s say I had the best time and service I could imagine so if your in ole and steen Chiswick please go and pay him a visit.

Super cosy and laidback, the staff are really friendly and the service is excellent. Usually come in for the good to go bags, the value is definitely worth the money.

How can a cafe with such high prices justify charging so much without serving customers at their tables? At lower prices I can understand but at these prices to make customers do their jobs for them, balancing coffee and cake in their hands while trying to prevent anyone from stealing their table or belongings is weird. Customers essentially become unpaid waiters, yet still have to pay for the privilege! Meanwhile, staff relax behind the counter, chatting and laughing, while customers are busy running back & forth. And yet customers seem to tolerate this... You wouldn't see it in 1950s; The world has gone mad.

Would recommend the regular latte as that is lovely and is what separates this coffee shop from others. Do not get the Macha latte here. Was not made correctly and tasted like grass. Otherwise the staff were friendly and there is a good rewards scheme with the app.

The staff are so kind here and are always happy to help. If you like cinnamon, get yourself a cinnamon social - they are exquisite. I do find their app quite “clunky” and you can’t use Apple Pay on there, you have to add a card but that’s not a reflection on this store, just something I thought I would mention.

Nice looking bakery with an modern ambient. Unfortunately, the staff isn’t very helpful at all. The „barista“ refused to take an order, because we ordered a Latte Macchiato. Little did we know, that @ this place it’s called cafe latte. But to purposely misunderstand a customer who’s trying it’s best to order in a foreign language is just blatant arrogance. Coffee is okay though.

This place is great, they have a nice ambience good for de-stressing and the service is great also, especially the guy with the glasses and curly hair.

Excellent service from the young handsome gentleman (quite specifically the tall skinny gentleman and the husky young man, both North African specimens). Also the general manager was great haha ciao! 🤞🐐👀

Just another over priced, over processed and over here , coffee shop. £3 for a cup of tea in a small pot, service was friendly, no parking. Toilets was clean but my table and chairs needed a wipe which I done myself as there was hardly any staff about, I didn't have a coffee so no idea what quality but my niece had a chocolate drink which she loved ,

Very cool and chilled out place to have your coffee and pastries. Reasonable prices in comparison to other coffee shops and great service. I could sit here for hours!

Ole and Steen used to be a nice cafe with great pastries and bakery but sadly the place is going down with store management and cleanness! Staff are literally not interested and there is clearly no store management. The coffee tastes milk and cold. Nobody cleans tables!

Cinnamon socials are good, but the sizing is very inconsistent. The sizing also varies depending on whether you get the normal or vegan social. This could be solved quite quickly with a standardised cutting. Two handles with blades on the opposite side. Line it up on one end and cut away.

I ordered online from them before and I was really satisfied so I thought I’ll grab something for lunch. When I entered the place 3 member of staff just chatting around nobody actually looked after the customers or asked if they can help me with something so I left to buy food elsewhere.

I had a chai and it was delicious, excellent service and kindness. The bathroom was clean.

Visited branch 1st Jan, around 5pm. The food and the customer service is not worth the price. The young lads employed at this branch clearly don't care about doing the job they were hired to do. Despite not being busy, the tables were overwhelmingly full of dirty cups and plates contributing to a sense of filth. This is disrespectful to the customers. Imagine if you went to a restaurant and all the tables were still full of dirty plates. As reflected by a number of negative reviews, I suspect there are a few employees at this branch who are doing a terribe job. I invite management to take action because you do not want people like this to represent your brand. Their age is not an excuse for poor work ethic and bad service.

Their cinnamon socials are next level. The guy who served me was friendly and helpful.

Service was not great, I got to the first of the queue then proceeded to get ignored. After a few minutes finally managed to grab the attention of one of the baristas. I then got coffee that tasted burnt which wasn’t filled (see picture). My younger sister ordered tea which also wasn’t completely filled. The pastries are delicious as they always are, love the cinnamon social. Overall really disappointed, usually Ole & Steen is a pretty reliable place for coffee, pastries, and food with quality service. Maybe it’s just this branch, I usually have an overall positive experience with O&S.

Why do people sit in here? It's dark and miserable, sticky and crumby. But the Danishes are good so take them away and go sit somewhere better

I had an offer for a free cake for my birthday. I couldn’t figure out how to redeem it and fiddled with the app asking the person at the counter for help. She literally stared at me while I fumbled through. Finally she helped me after I complained out loud. In all of the chaos my husband left his coffee he ordered. We realised this in the car and tried to call and no one answered the phone. Cinnamon bun was amazing but won’t return as service is rubbish!

Had my Sunday coffee break, service is bad (looks like no supervision on staff), no clean tables are available / full of dirty plates and mugs which we had to move ourselves and wipe surface. Coffee is good! pastery overpriced £3.95 for cold and wet cinnamon roll?

Never fails to under deliver. Very slow unfriendly service with no smiles and no eye contact. You feel unwelcomed and to top it you also get dirty cutlery! Ole & Stein your u have a customer service problem for a while. Time to respect customers and up your game.

I have visited so many Ole& Steen and this one is a disgrace to the brand. Absolutely filthy, dirty and unprofessional staff. Always charging you some extra for no reason. Since when the espresso was £3.95? Disgrace

Good pastries but the service is TERRIBLE, whether you buy to take away or stay. It is very slow and not particularly friendly. You really feel like the person serving you cannot be bothered. Also the place is very dark inside, windows at the front are not clean. I do like Ole and Steen products but I deplore the fact that this branch (which is the closest to where I leave) is particularly bad. I will avoid it in the future and buy my bakery products elsewhere.

Coffee is cold. I have visited three times in the past week and it is room temperature every time. And each person who makes it makes it totally differently. My husband ordered and paid for a large latte, which came out the same size as my medium latte. We saw when we sat down with our coffees that we could have had a slice of cake for only £1 with a promotion. This was advertised on a little notice AT the table. Too late by then. They should have advertised prior to checkout.

Came in the other day to buy a coffee. Manager was being really horrible to staff and they seemed visibly upset. This made me uncomfortable and I felt bad for the staff. The lovely young lady made the coffee perfectly, I just wish the manger treated them better.

As a Dane who've been to most of the branches, this one unfortunately isn't up to scratch. Across four separate visits it has been consistently below the bar. The coffee not warm enough, the swirls are definitely under baked,as you can taste the raw butterdej. It's a shame. Would have been 2 stars if not for my nationalism.

Woman behind the counter was busy on her phone rather than serving people. When i got my tea the spoon was very dirty i had to ask for another. Had to ask for milk with my earl grey tea rather than have it given. I was also told they did not have any knives. The tea and the cinammon role were great, but the experience itself poor.

Disgraceful. First, clean your door, really not appealing to buy anything to eat from your Chiswick branch. And I was shocked that the staff denied access to the toilets to my toddler under pouring rain. Like if the staff didn’t need to use the loo, a joke. I’ll never buy from that place for sure.

Refused a two year old access to the toilet. Won’t be buying their overpriced pastries ever again. Greggs is closer and better anyway: Snobbish and unpleasant. Avoid.

Did not have the usual selection of breads despite being midday when one would expect the selection of items to be at its peak.

The surprise bag was a joke. I expected to see at least one slice of cinnamon social as it's their special product and they had loads of it whene i collected the bag and supposed they where closing after about 30 minutes. The bag had one loaf of bread and 2 cheese and tomatoes sandwiches. Didn't even worth to travel 20 minutes to get the bag and another 20 minutes back home. Also the bread I love from morrisons costs only £1.20 one tomato costs £0.20 or £0.30 and to get cheese I pay like £1.30 or something like that and I can have more than 2 sandwiches. Even £5 is expensive for what I got. Never again

Worst service in Chiswick. I been manager in coffe shop for many years and I can say for sure is the worst. Last Saturday I was in the queue with my kid to order some breakfast and the girl that was serving, just started to serving the person behind me, even if I was waiting for a few minutes. I told her was my turn and she just kept ignoring me. Someone else in the queue had to call her attention so she can listen to me. She just kept me ignoring me. After, when she decided to take my order I asked for a tap water with the hot drinks and she said they don't give waters for free. Sounds so ridiculous. I used to go ever weekend, but that's was the last one. Even my 7 years old asked me if the lady in the counter was mad. Disappointed

I have asked a pastries pesto and potato I think, they served me cold, and for some other customer they warm that up not good customer service

Nice modern, minimalistic interior design. Spacious with calm music. Love pastry 🥐 that they sell. My second cafe from that chain. Similar to Starbucks though more minimalistic and less sugary.
