Old Town Deli W4 in Hounslow

Very busy on a Friday night with a mixed audience from families with children to couples on dates. We were unfortunately squeezed in between 2 families and got noisy from 4 sets of handheld devices used for games or videos. I never stop to wonder why the parents don’t give their little ones headphones so the rest of the place can have a nice evening. Starters were really nice, grilled octopus and burrata. Can recommend both of them. Carbonara for main was not good at all. It looked like the dish had been sitting around for a while before it was brought out with the sauce starting to dry. Not a lot of flavour, lacking both salt and pepper. The guanciale on my dish was all fat. I know that cut is supposed to be fatty but lightly fried 0,5 inch lumps of fat was just disgusting! I told 2 members of staff who apologised and promised to deduct something from the bill. That didn’t happen… Not the normal experience but unfortunately the one I’m now left with and I’ll give it some time before coming back.

This is a place very dear to my heart with strong sentimental value, my late Mother loved this restaurant, and before she died we would come here often as a family for either food but mainly for the ice cream. This is an italian family owned business, and the husband and wife who own this resturant are usually always there and always warm, friendly and accommodating. I often come here to eat when I feel sad and somehow want to feel connected to my Mother but in the summer I usually come a lot more for the delicious ice cream. I recommend their vanilla with mango sorbet! My mothers favourite dish that I usually get here is Salmone, it bursts with flavour and never disappoints, The atmosphere here is nice too, the resturant gives a family feeling, the only thing that would make it perfect is better heating.

Food was nice but had to wait almost 1 hour for two dishes however other tables received food before us even though they arrived after us.

Really wonderful, friendly service. Super willing to accommodate requests and the Tonnarelli was some of the best cacio e pepe I've ever had.

We visited midweek so it was a little quiet, which was perfect. Food was delicious, appropriately priced, and the service was friendly and not in any sense forced.
