Old Moor Tavern in Barnsley

Stopped in for a couple of pints after a day out and enjoyed our time there - a clean, friendly, well maintained pub with a decent selection of drinks available. Didn't try the food but will definitely return to!

Friendly and efficient staff. Lovely food. Clean and inviting.

Food was very greasy and over cooked, the atmosphere and service was great but shame about the food, could do with a new chef

Waited 45 minutes for our food order. I asked at the bar what time frame we were looking at after 45 minutes. Was told they would find out. Nobody came to let us know. 15 minutes later we had to ask again. Fairly confident they had completely forgotten about our order until I asked. Food came out more than an hour after ordering. During the wait, no staff asked us if we'd like any more drinks. It's not the individual staff's fault, but keeping customers informed and checking on us would have been welcome. Food was good, when it eventually made it out of the kitchen.

Popped in after a walk for a quick pint. Not been for years. Much improved with a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Looks like it's had some money on it. Will be back to try the food. Free parking

Had lunch yesterday fish chips and mushy peas.fish was perfectly cooked the batter was light and crispy. the staff are friendly and attentive and a good atmosphere

warm and welcoming staff members. Excellent service. The food was lovely. We had the steak and chicken combo. Steak cooked to perfection. Fish and chips. Children's menu has a good range of items.When booking the table I was told there maybe a wait due to a larger booking, however the service and time to receive the food wasn't long. Went here for the first time today on someone's recommendation & had Sunday Lunch. I must say I was not disappointed. Lovely little pub, great staff and the food was amazing. I will definitely be be going again & would recommend it to anyone.

It was quiet when we went in, so atmosphere was not ?,? But, those in were of all ages, babies, teens, oldies lije me. Lol. Defo go back.

Chips were undercooked. Steak not really cooked to instructions.

Nice food but please check your bill as when we were there they did try to add more drinks on to the bill than we'd had

Recently found this little gem. Dog friendly and the food is incredible without being rediculous prices.

Really enjoy this place just visited with my partner and she mentioned about her bike tyre was flat, the lady behind the bar thought about it for about an hour and came out and helped us out pumping the tyre that is customer service at it's best

Love coming here, the staff are fantastic and so very accommodating and helpful with my grandma whose in a wheelchair. The food is superb. Very big portions! So you won't ever leave hungry. New menu with more fish items is very welcomed and all the much loved dishes from the old menu still there. There's not been anything I disliked. The beef in particular is always melt in the mouth!

Food plentyfull and delicious very good prices ,staff very welcoming and helpful with diabetic customer 11 of us and all happy with meals will be going again very clean and comfortable .

A decent Sunday dinner ruined by bad tasting bought in frozen yorkshire pudding could taste for hours after. No option for adults to have a smaller Sunday dinner and not allowed to have a child portion. So anyone with a small appetite has to have something else or waste food won't be going again or recommend

Excellent, home made food. Efficient service served by friendly, efficient staff.

Gorgeous food, gorgeous place. 😍 Went once, had to go again. Great for a quiet meal, and a good chat. Staff were lovely and polite, make you feel welcome. And they have my favourite pudding.. Jam Rolly Polly... YumYum hard to find that on a menu these days. Only a smallish car park though, but a nice outdoor seating area. Theres a woodland walk just across the road, its a nice place for a starting point or finnishing point.

I've visited here before and loved the food, visited again for the mothers days set menu and have to say was a little bit let down by the food the pork dinner was just a little lackluster. Best I can say everything was warm and there was plenty of food but the main did seem re-warmed. I put it down to being so busy and being in a party of 11 but still a little disappointed after the first visit.

Really enjoyed my steak meal, the service was excellent, good choice of drinks on offer will be back!

Third visit , excellent the first visit, second also lovely garlic mushrooms are to die for. Last visit was also good but the special which was chicken with cabbage and bacon all 3 of us had said it came with sautéed potatoes. But arrived with new potatoes, maybe I should have said something at the Time. Wine is quite expensive at £8 a glass

Only one person taking food and drink orders at the bar. Same person pouring the drinks. Took ages to place order with a big queue. Fish over cooked and tasted like oven ready chips

Pies pies pies. You have to try the pies. Gorgeous home cooked food and a lovely pint.

We went for a family meal off their Christmas fare menu. The food was below standard. Frozen deep fried roast potatoes. Festive burger was just a chicken sandwich using Tesco bread cake. The staff were not very friendly it will a long time before we go again.

Even better because we can take our dog

Lovely pub with great atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff. Ordered liver and onions. Liver and onions and gravy perfect. Came with tasty mash overcooked carrots and frozen (watery) peas and green beans (inedible). BTW my friend ordered sizzler in black bean sauce. The sizzler in sweet Chile sauce which arrived was delicious with fabulous home cooked chunky chips and a naan!

First time been here and definitely not the last ...by far one of the best Sunday roast out there ...definitely worth the money and very generous portions and I was stuffed . compliments to all the staff from the chefs ,to the ladies who served us really welcoming and always asking if we needed anything . thankyou so much see you again soon if you not been definitely make sure you do 100% all the four of us loved it

Called in for Sunday lunch. Choice of roast beef. Turkey or pork. £14.95 for one course. We were seated in the conservatory area. Which was uncomfortably warm. Vegetables were turnip. Peas. Carrots and white cabbage. The beef was tasty. As were the carrots. We had dessert. I had jam roly poly. Which wasn’t very tasty. My husband had lemon meringue which he would recommend. Thought it was home made

A few months ago I got a pie that was warned up in the microwave? so the pastry was soggy and the vege was dry, probably microwaved? I've been again recently and my Chicken was really chewy, probably microwaved with some of the mushrooms refrigerator cold on top? At £15+ per meal it's terrible quality weatherspoons would be superior!

The food is exceptionally good, fresh and homemade. One of our party said it was the best steak pie she had ever had. The gravy was really tasty too. I have been coming back to Old Moor Tavern since last Christmas when I came for the first time. The Bailey's cheesecake was something else. I have brought several people here since. The staff are really good and friendly. We joined in the Wednesday night quiz which was fun. It's safe to say we love this place and will continue to come back.

Nice pub out of the way . Decent parking . The food is good and good value for money . Sunday lunch is good . If your eating I would advise reserving a table . Wow amazing food

Carvery expensive for 2 meats 33 for 2 people .bland veg only basic staff good surroundings in conservatory dated cheap chairs basic tables needs more modern furniture

A good find, pleasant staff, very helpful, food was good home cooked food too, 3 course was bit much but we just had to.

Found this little gem by pure chance. Excellent, good old fashioned pub grub with great service.

Not the best I have had here. Had to pre order and seemed to have been sat a while. Price increases a little steep . Pie very dry gammon fatty and overcooked.

Excellent food, great choice. The fillet steak was amazing. Very friendly staff and great atmosphere. Will visit again. ***Update*** second visit..work meeting. Again fantastic. Staff were great. Service was very quick. The food was lovely. I recommend the Yorkshire pudding starter. I went for sirloin steak as a main...had the fillet on previous visit. I have to say the sirloin tonight was delicious. It came all trimmed with mushrooms, onion rings, peas and fries...banging! I didn't need a desert lol.

Didn't have food, but it was very expensive for drinks, anybody would think they were situated in London. No wonder so many pubs are closing when some charge these prices.

Meals were expensive for what you got. Gammon was fatty, and the Yorkshire Pudding was hard and flat. Coffee was good, and they allowed dogs. Wouldn't return for a meal.

Not really happy with the food. Ordered a medium rare steak. was cooked just about fully through and only slighty rare in the middle. Also wasnt a good quality, I have bought better from tescos unfortunately and cooked better myself and I really can not cook. A friend asked for an ommeltte as the menu wasnt that good for a vegetarian £18 for eggs?????. big portions yes, sluggish on service for drinks and puddings too. Not one of us out of 7 would go back. Shame, as this used to be a really good place to eat

Went yesterday for a meal and had great food. Two of us went for the pork Sunday lunch and there is plenty plus a tray of mixed veg. Our daughter had the steak and stilton pie which she said was very good. Staff friendly. Great experience.

Had a fantastic Sunday dinner with mixed meat. It was hot and delicious. What more could you ask for

We went on a Wednesday evening, 7pm, where it was steak and burger night. We hadn't previously booked but we said that we were happy to sit anywhere and sat in the bar area. Booking advised. Home made chips and plenty of them. Burgers were a choice of beef, chicken or proper freshly battered chicken with the required burger, very delicious.

We went to the old Moor yesterday for the first time since before covid. It was absolutely beautiful. I will be back.

Been last night for a 50th birthday food wasn’t the best at all years ago was one of the best but not been in years and certainly won’t be returning they is no fresh food prepared on the premises as we was told to order in advance so they could prepare over rated asked on day could we change one of meals and told no we would be charged for another meal will not be returning

First time visit, popped in on impulse for a quick Sunday meal. The reviews caught our eye and luckily they managed to squeeze us in between bookings. Have to say it was a lovely Sunday Lunch pretty of meat and veg for the two of us!... we'd defo return again. Busy carpark and tables on the way out, always a good sign.

Staff very quiet, large portions, sirloin steak not worth the money, full of connective tissue and tough as old boots, chicken breast overcooked, liver and sausages were good

CLING FILM in my hunters chicken. Completely ruined our tea that my daughter was taking me for for Mothers Day. Girl apologise and refunded my meal and a starter, least they could do.....not quite sure. No apology from Chef that put it there in face place. Left with a bitter taste in my mouth....

It's been quite a few years since I visited this place but it won't be that long again! We braved the snow and it was well worth it. Food was delicious and the waiter was friendly and funny too. My only grumble and it's not specific to just here, is paying £14.00 for 4 glasses of pepsi. I highly recommend the garlic mushrooms.

Fabulous sharing starter, and then a cooked to perfection fillet steak with big fat chips.......Heaven. Very friendly, quick service even though they were really busy with 2 big parties. Can and will recommend to all.

Had dinner booked ahead although it wasn't overly busy. Pleasant atmosphere. I had Creamy Garlic mushrooms with garlic bread was absolutely delicious! Will be back again!

A large group of us attended in January 2023. I wasn't overwhelmed by looking at the limited menu but wow, the food was incredible. This is not cheap belly filler from Wetherspoons, this is all fresh food, all of what I saw looked home made, chicken looked home battered etc. The 1 cask ale that was on there was well kept. All that at and it wasn't expensive, it was superior food at Wetherspoons prices. Keep this pub going please, we need more like this, and I want it open for the next time I want to go.
