This was a lovely hotel , staff were very welcoming, we went for dinner bed nd breakfast ,our room was lovely,food was great ,bar staff were friendly and so were other staff ,would highly recommend this hotel

Stayed over night with breakfast. The staff at this hotel are fantastic. Nothing is too much bother for them. They are friendly and helpful. They totally make the hotel and experience.

My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights for Dinner, bed and breakfast. Food was excellent, breakfast and dinner. Could not fault it, best we've had in a long time. Friendly, helpful & polite staff. Particularly Grant and Jenna who served us for dinner and were very attentive. Room was lovely and very clean. Would definitely return and highly recommend.

We stayed the night at The Loans we had dinner, bed and breakfast, we used the spa facilities and Wi-Fi. We were greeted by Grant who was very attentive nothing was too much trouble. The food and service was very good at dinner and breakfast. Room comfortable. I would recommend this hotel which was very good value.

This is my parents favourite place to stay and eat when they come to visit, especially as they are vegetarians, there is always a good choice on the menu that they like. We had a lovely meal last Sunday, everyone enjoyed their meal. I had the chicken and haggis wellington which was fab, the veggies had veg crepe and haloumi burgers. The wine list is good and reasonable prices. Service was at a good pace for us.

Took my sister in law for her birthday.( Itison voucher with DBB). The food at lunch dinner and breakfast was amazing. So fresh and great portions. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Cant wait to come back. Hopefully next time we come back it will be at weekend as might be bit busier.we also went to gailles hotel for the thermal suite. Also 5 star .loved it . Following an email inviting us to sign up for a loyalty card and receive 40% in January. This was misleading as it didn't show any restrictions and there were several. It also looked as if there was a misunderstanding with the staff's knowledge of the deal. This was not so much the fault of the restaurant but the administration. However, we enjoyed the food and the service was good. We have become regular customers and that should speak for itself.

A lovely stay over at the Loans staff very helpful a special mention to Amy who was outstandingly pleasant and always smiling. Also the lady who I'm sorry never got her name who managed the front desk who went out of her way to ensure we were happy with our stay

Had dinner 2 nights ago. The food was delicious. I had Cullen Skink as a starter and it was superb. It did mean however that I struggled to finish my main course, which was also excellent. The menu prices are perhaps a bit on the high side, but the quality of the dishes and the service made it a very pleasant dining experience.

Xmas lunch, for £78 a head exected better quality and service. Really felt like a conveyor belt of food that had been sitting, not hot enough, not cooked enough and uninspiring. We were rushed through our meal in under 2 hours to have our order taken, eat 4 courses an with no place to sit and have coffee/drink afterwards. First experience here and wont be back.

Excellent food on special lunch menu - prawn cocktail and Cullen skink for starters followed by Cajun chicken crepes. Staff were very attentive, especially Kacey who went beyond the call to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed to enjoy our food

Omg, the food in the old loans inn is so beautiful and delicious. Honestly the presentation, taste, portion was perfect. The server Lisa, was so lovely. She was so warm, welcoming, polite, and patience, we couldnt make our minds up too many delicious food to decide. I recommend everyone to dine in this restaurant and believe me there will be no disappointments

Went here for a little change and it's just down the road from where we stay. Glad we did. We shared a starter of haggis and pakora and it was very tasty. I had the Cajun chicken crepes which were the best I have tasted in a long time. Husband had the tempura which he enjoyed and my stepdaughter had the fillet steak which she also enjoyed. My parents stay here quite a lot and love the rooms and breakfast so we often go for evening meal. Service and staff are lovely but I do feel like the choice of meal and meal itself was not as good as before. We did dine quite late (8pm) and I think had been busy as were a few people in who were finished eating. Service was good but my meal itself was lacking, it was also missing an ingredient which was not communicated. I'm hoping just a blip as we do normally have a good meal and vegetarian options are good for my family.

This is an excellent place to stay the staff are all very friendly and accommodating, we stayed over for 2 days this time we had a family funeral and the hotel let us arrive early on the day so we could get ready with ease this was so much appreciated we thank you again we will definitely be back, the food is out of this world great selections and specials a nice selection of drinks,

Visited as part of a family group of 9 (including teens and kids) for lunch. Restaurant is nice and we were made welcome on arrival and shown to table. Starters arrived luke-warm at best and waiters seemed somewhat disinterested and were just going through the motions. Visited Old Loans Inn a number of years ago and thought it mediocre back then but thought we’d give it another try. Sadly it will be a long time before we visit again. £10 for a cold starter and £20 for burger with inattentive staff sadly leaves a bit of a bad taste.

Avoid at all costs. Had the Sunday roast beef and it's the worst I've ever tasted. Beef was tough, watery gravy, frozen Yorkshire pudding, under cooked veg all served in the soup bowl type plate that made it almost impossible to cut the beef and left the veg all soggy sitting in the tasteless gravy. The plate was so hot that you couldn't touch it but the food was lukewarm, quite a feat by the kitchen. If I could give zero stars I would.

Although this is a lovely restaurant, sadly our experience of customer service was poor. I found four large bones in my fish. I told the waiter when he came to collect the plates and showed him the bones on the plate. He said he would let the kitchen know. I expected him or someone from the kitchen to pass on an apology 🤔. Sadly there was no apology and no response what so ever. It felt like they simply didn't care 😪

From check in to checkout we had a great stay! The location is great as its v close to Troon, and easy to get to. At check in we were given all the information regarding covid regulations in the hotel and restaurant, which immediately put us at ease and the hostess was very warm & welcoming. The room was spotless and finished to a high standard with everything we needed, bed was comfortable and the shower was great! We had a few drinks in the beer garden which was lovely, it was a nice night and there was a good atmosphere! We shared a few starter/ sides for dinner, service was quick and the food was deliscious. A waitress told us about the rooftop, which worked out perfect timing as we were able to watch the sunset and had a gorgeous view over towards Arran. The highlight was definitely breakfast, again service was quick and our waitress was very friendly/attentive. Thank you so much for a lovely stay we will definitely be back!

Stayed here sadly just for one night as we found it brilliant. It is a small hotel part of a small family owned chain. Very nicely fitted out and tasteful decor. The room was great and the food excellent. We couldn't fault the service and one of the family members was there full time hands on and was extremely pleasant. Excellent value also. Can recommend and we will go again.

We arrived on time and were given menus. After about 5 minutes we were asked if we were ready to order drinks, we weren't so asked if she could come back in a few minutes. 30 Minutes later our food and drinks order was taken. Again more waiting as our drinks arrived at ,much the same time as our food. We all enjoyed our meals, but yet again it was about another 30 minutes after we all finished eating that our plates were cleared. By this point we had been here well over an hour and only had 1 drink. We then ordered dessert and a second drink, which again arrived at the same time. The only thing we didn't have to wait for was the bill. On saying that, the staff were pleasant although no apology was given on our wait for everything, and the food was good.

Visited here with my gran and my mother on a sunny Saturday afternoon . First impressions were not good when I asked the manager to sit out and she looked annoyed and went on about how they had to fully sanitise the table. I said I was happy to wait until this was done but I don’t understand why this was a problem. We were then seated by a lovely trainee waitress whose name I can’t remember. My gran and I ordered chicken Caesar salad and my mum ordered a burger. When I bit into my chicken it was clearly off, it smelled absolutely vile and wan inedible. I made the waitress aware of this who took it away and came back a few minutes later to say the manager was willing to let me order something else. I told her that I couldn’t face eating anything because I felt physically sick after eating what was clearly off chicken. My gran was unable to even try her salad after smelling how vile mine smelled. The manager then came over and asked loudly what the problem was. Her attitude was truly awful. I eat out a lot and have rarely had cause for complaint but she seemed to insinuate I was looking for free food. I simply asked that the meal that was spoiled and my gran’s that she couldn’t eat be taken off the bill. She started then loudly saying I can assure you our food is fresh and I got the chef to cook me a piece of chicken from that batch and it was fine, I do find this hard to believe since it was only 5 minutes since I sent my food back. I asked her if she has tasted or even smelled the plate and she said no. She then agreed to take the two salads off the bill. She grudgingly asked if if we would like another drink but I just wanted out of there ASAP. So anyway we duly paid the remaining £40 of the bill and left. It ruined our whole day and my 81 year old grandmothers first meal out since lockdown. My gran is from the village and has told all her friends about the extremely disappointing experience and we will never be back there again. I really don’t like to leave a negative review and I this is the first but the experience was very unpleasant and uncomfortable.

We dined here during the eat out scheme and have been on various other occasions. Was good to see standard of food was exactly the same as previous visits. Well cooked, well presented, good sized portions of tasty food. Restaurant was busy when we arrived and we had to wait for drinks and food order but when reminded they dealt with it quickly. Nice atmosphere and they have a dog friendly area in the restaurant. Will definately be back.

Stayed here for one night, a gift from our daughter. Fantastic stay in this hotel. Felt all social distancing rules were followed and the staff were very helpful. We also had dinner in the restaurant which was reasonably priced and enjoyable. We stayed in a deluxe room which was spotlessly clean. looking forward to returning here in the future

My wife and I enjoyed our first dinner here in almost four months (due to the coronavirus lockdown) and it was a delight to be back. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, there are tables both indoors and outdoors and there's a great selection of tasty food and drink available.We started with the haggis pakora (which was delicious) and then, despite being tempted by several options on the specials board, neither of us could resist the Old Loans fish supper - after four months it tasted better than ever!We had really missed having dinner here and are delighted to be regulars once again.

Another lovely welcome and an excellent steak pie main meal, Our dessert was fantastic too. Should have an image of both but was so excited when the meal arrived that I forgot. Friendly staff, Laura, Amy, Kerry and John served us very well.

Was very scared of going out for our first meal after restaurants started opening back up, didn’t initially want to go at all. Eventually gave in and booked online (think this is the only way for here). Restaurant very well organised, social distancing in place, various hand sanitisers positioned throughout. Very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, staff as friendly and helpful as always and made us feel very welcome. Honestly can’t praise the staff enough, will definitely be back very soon. Went back here for our wedding anniversary dinner as last time our visit was very good. Mixed experience this time as the service and the food were very good but felt overall the meal was too expensive. My prawn cocktail was very nice smallish portion and a bit overpriced. My wife had the sirloin steak and I had the the rib eye steak with red wine sauce which was extra. Both our meals were excellent but once again overpriced.My wife had the sticky toffee pudding with delicious ice cream and I had an excellent Jameson's whiskey Irish coffee. I had a pint of Heverlee and we both had a one size only glass of wine which were both nice. No complaints at all regards our food or presentation. We could have gone for the two course special menu but as it was our wedding anniversary decided to go a la carte. I enjoy going out for dinner often but would probably think twice about coming back here sadly not because of the food but simply felt that in comparison to other local restaurants it was too expensive as did my daughter when recently there for lunch.

Very disappointing experience. Steak was cold and there was plastic in kids pizza.Service was overall pretty poor. Nobody checking meal was okay or checking to see if wanted any more drinks etc.When complained that there was plastic in kids food, the response was that “it wasn’t intentional” and sorry. I believe this could have been handled a lot better as plastic in kids food is unacceptable. On the positive side the plastic free food was decent.

We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here. The beefburgers were delicious and huge, piping hot with chips. The puddings were a delight, large portions, and so yummy.

Evening meal at night was first class. The breakfast was excellent as well with everything you would want in a Scottish breakfast. Rooms were spacious and clean. Staff very friendly. Will visit again.

Was expensive at £130 for 2 but the food was very good, well presented and service was excellent.. had melon & fruit starter..left out the intermediate course..had beef and all trimmings and was excellent. Dessert choice was good followed by coffee n shortbread.

Myself, my husband and two young children(4 and 1) attended the old loans inn this morning arriving around 0940. We were shown to our seat and ignored until 1005 when we decided to leave as our attendance appeared to be a total inconveinance to the staff present. We were not offered any drink and had to ask for a high for my child. The restaraunt had around 10 - 15 others present who appeared to be hotel guests. Whilst we were there all the staff (1 manager and 1 waitress) did was see to the tables of hotel guests, walking by several times with no acknowlegdement. The only time we were spoken to was when we were putting our jackets on to leave. At this point the staff member offered to take our order but I said no thanks as I already had the kids ready to go. This was a total waste time. We were trying The Old loans instead of our usual Buzzworks but this appears to be our mistake as we ended up going to a Buzzworks location and received great service from the moment we walked in and a good breakfast.

Called in for our monthly lunch as we had not been before. Mixed reaction to visit. The surroundings are pleasant and clean and the member of staff...Laura A...who looked after our table was friendly and attentive. We decided to order from the lunchtime 2 course menu. Whilst the food was excellent I felt it was overpriced for what is basically a pub lunch. On top of this the drink prices were ridiculous...as someone stated in an earlier review...London prices in an Ayrshire village. So whilst we were well looked after by Laura A it is unlikely that we will return here for lunch.

We chose The Old Loans Inn for a Saturday evening dinner venue with friends, who were staying in Loans overnight. My wife and I arrived first at 6.50pm, for a 7.00pm booking, only to be advised that our table wasn't available,and, could we take a seat at the Bar until it was ... why book in the first place? Here begins the first lesson ... "do not order a gin and tonic with a soda and blackcurrant and hand over a paltry £10.00 note, big mistake"... grossly overpriced and it didn't get our evening off to a great start. Anyway. our friends arrived , and after another visit to "Dick Turpins Bar", (London prices in a sleepy Ayrshire hamlet, come on), we settled down and waited for our dinner table. As it was, we were sitting at it, the table was hurriedly made up with Menus and cutlery/ paper napkins in the Bar area, no condiments or trimmings,certainly not the elegant setting we had planned for our guests... strike 2.
