Old Bridge Bakery in Kirklees

A huge thank you to the bakery for the marvellous scones provided for our coffee morning at Almondbury Disabled Leisure Group. The were delicious and sold like hot cakes! Thanks from Pauline and Mary

Lovely little place .. Great selection to choose from ... staff lovely ... helpful... food was fresh and very tasty .... Went last year ... wasn't that great but now under the new management has much improved... Will definitely be back... especially for the lemon cheesecake 😋

before i begin, just want to make clear this review is not about all of the lovely shop assistants who are all very welcoming and efficient at their job. i have been in multiple times within the past couple of weeks, and both times the new owner of the shop has been shouting very horridly at the staff. On saturday i went in and he was shouting at all staff members in a very nasty way, this not only makes customers in the shop very uncomfortable but it also gives a really bad representation on the man himself. no staff should be spoken to in the way that i witnessed - particularly in front of customers!! although the food (mostly) really nice; this experience has put me off visiting the bakery again. just to reiterate this, the shop assistants are very lovely, and this review is not a reflection on their customer service skills!

Coming to this bakery was the best way to end my holiday up north! I particularly loved the huge range of tasty unique breads (I HAD to buy some more to take home with me)

Spotted this as we drove past and decided to call for a takeaway as our favourite cafe has gone. I had meat and potato pie, stuffed full of meat with melt in the mouth pastry, the only downside being the peas were tinned. Hubby had hot roast pork sandwich with all the trimmings. unfortunately due to mask wearing my drink order was misheard, but this wa corrected even though I had to wait a while for it and remind the assistant who was very apologetic. A fab selection of other goodies in the counters. We will definitely make this a regular stop wen visiting Holmfirth.

Called in today because the window display drew me in as well as the smell of fresh bread I bought a verygod selectin of things amazing helpful staff and also I had a hot roast sandwich turkey cranberry and stuffing lovey also I bought some amazing fresh sandwich fillings from the deli side home made I may add full of flavour will be returning well recommended

I have been going to the old bridge bakery for many years and after today I don't think I’ll be going again One member if staff very rude and patronising We are all very aware of COVID and many of us are taking it seriously. I do not appreciate coming to buy bakery items to be told to sanistise as I touched my mouth ( which I did without realising and to be honest I forgot to put my mask on) and that you are all taking COVID precautions as you know people who have it and are ill - which I also understand and do hope they get better soon. However please do not preach to me in front of other customers while you stand there with no mask on, touching surfaces that I did not see you once wash or sanitise your hands after dealing with customers and money!!!!

Called to the old bridge bakery today for a selection of artisan bread 🍞 will be having this with home made spicy bean soup to o follow with a selection of different flavour brownies staff was really friendly and helpful will be back for more to try thank you 🙂

Goodness me. I have never felt so unwelcome in a shop ever. I just wanted some lunch, but the attitude of staff was so appallingly disrespectful from the moment I stepped across the threshold, I decided to go elsewhere. Poor, aggressive behaviour and ill-mannered

Along with other items we bought a vegetarian savoury only to find that it was chicken and mushroom. Pointed out their error to them when next in town. They apologised but flatly refused a refund. Just noticed that their food hygiene rating is '1'. Had we known this we wouldn't have shopped here anyway, we certainly won't be in future.

Went in to pick up some lunch for a friend and myself around 2pm and they were already “didn’t have” most savoury pastries, “sold out” of all types of bread, and were especially rude when telling us this. What’s the point in having a bakery if you don’t have anything to sell? Won’t be going again.

I asked for a tuna sandwich on granary bread early Monday lunchtime to be told they’d already run out of granary or brown. “It’s white or white,” came the rather patronising comment from the middle aged female shop assistant. Despite hating white bread, I told her to go ahead because there aren’t too many other options in Holmfirth. All of 30 seconds later, an elderly gent came in and asked for a couple of sandwiches on granary, at which point two granary rolls were produced by the other shop assistant. Couldn’t believe what I was seeing. “Oh, it turns out we have got some,” said the woman who’d already served us, never offering to remake my tuna sandwich in light of this new discovery. The truth is that she’d been too lazy to have a proper look in the first place, then didn’t have the decency to correct her original error. Appalling attitude. Won’t be going again. In terms of the end product, all didn’t end well. My partner’s Coronation chicken was decent, but the tuna was tasteless and the salad could have been fresher.

For somewhere who calls themselves a bakery the bread is always as hard as a rock around the edges which leaves me to wonder if it’s sat out all day uncovered or just plain old? Shame because most of the staff are lovely (some are completely useless and can’t be bothered to be there and others can never get an order right) but the sandwiches are almost inedible, not very well filled either. Annoying as it’s the only sarnie shop left in Holmfirth.

Think this bakery must bake for royalty because their prices are gold plated! Avoid buying the jam triangles as you will need to take out a small loan- we were charged £1.50 per jam triangle!!! I had expected a small tourist upcharge to £1 but £1.50 each is simply ridiculous. WE will not be back which is a shame as we like to support local shops but not at this cost to our finances

Bought a Fat Rascal cake which was very dry and broke up. The Curd Tart was as dry as a bone. Where was the curd?. Worst Curd Tart I have ever eaten, and I have eaten various bakeries. Date Pasty was just acceptable. These cakes are not cheap so very disappointed with them.

Holmfirth bakery were so helpful. The cake looked and tasted amazing. Great price too. My sister loved it.

Have purchased food here on and off for years whenever I am passing through. I went in on Sat 20th Jan in early afternoon, the lady behind the counter, mid, late 20s, dark hair, took my order, vegi pasty and eccles cake and opened the paper bags by licking her fingers first, then handled the food.and placed the items in their respective bags.I was horrified. I have no desire to eat someones spittle. I will not visit this bakery again. I am surprised that the bakery choose not to reply to negative posts about customers experience of their products and service. Perhaps with my post the owner may wish to make the CCTV available.

£! for a small ginger-bread man! It was me that felt like running away! They were really nothing special either, in fact rather dry, hard, and tasteless. Disappointing.

Speciality breads are a treat, baked every day. Hot counter and sandwiches for lunch. A cake or tart for pudding while walking round Holmfirth. There's seems to be something different to get each visit. I've been quite a few times and have recommended the bakery to friends and family. Worth a visit, even if theyre busy!

Firstly this bakery is in Holmfirth - get it right Tripadvisor!

This bakery is actually in Holmfirth and not in Lindley like it shows on trip advisor map, the post code shows correctly as Holmfirth. Any how pretty standard bakery, the staff are friendly enough and the sandwiches are quite filling that are in large tea cakes, nice to see
