When I came to England and didn't speak English and was always having trouble finding food, I happened to be drawn to a restaurant with a Japanese name and the smell of grilled sauce, but the employees were very kind and I had an enjoyable meal. When I entered, the restaurant was full of customers, but the employee kindly arranged the time and made a reservation for me, and I was able to enter the restaurant about an hour later. Definitely recommended for those who like Japanese food. I think Okan-san is a wonderful shop where you can feel Japan while being in London.

Had a wonderful lunch at OKAN Southbank! I ordered the Isobe Yaki (starter) and the Okan Omu Mix (signature main) - they were delicious! Generous portion sizes, and very cool environment and ambience. Would highly recommend this restaurant, usually needs a reservation on busy days.

Very good service and food, food came very quickly as well. My friend recommended this place and my mother and I are obsessed with this place!! I highly recommend the Okan Omu mix and the Isobe Yaki, they’re my go-to dishes:)

It’s a lovely intimate setting. The staff's exceptional service is noteworthy, particularly Taka, who took the time to guide me through the extensive sake selection. His recommendations proved phenomenal, and I am grateful for his expertise. We were fortunate enough to meet the owner, Moto, who exuded warmth and graciousness. I eagerly anticipate returning to Okan and look forward to planning weekend trips to London solely for the purpose of dining here. If you are in London, I highly recommend visiting this culinary gem, which serves the finest food.

A fabulous spot for authentic and varied Japanese food. Lots of dishes that it's hard to find elsewhere in London/outside of Japan. Our server Taka was super attentive in looking after us and made sure the experience was extra special.

I ordered cheese mochi okonomiyaki and they did not give katsuobushi (dancing fish powder) on top of it, even though it was written on the menu. I asked the reason and the staff said it's because my menu was Vegan. But it doesn't make sense because my menu included cheese. And it was not just me, they didn't give it to everyone who ordered okonomiyaki. I think it was just to save money.

I ordered a tofu kimchi okonomyaki. I found beef in it which was horrendous as I’m vegetarian. The waitress said she thought I asked for it with “extra beef”. Why anyone would think someone would order a veggie dish with extra beef is bizarre and why didn’t they read the order back to us since they later said their English is not good. When we eventually got what we ordered the food was good, and for central London it’s very reasonably priced. But the service is bad.

A very authentic Japanese experience - I would defo recommend!

Recommended by Japanese friends, and it truly felt like a little taste of Japan. Relaxed atmosphere and flavourful dishes. The Okonomiyaki exceeded expectations and was great value for money. The interior is quite small, so booking ahead is probably wise. The only downside was the ventilation -not the best, so we left smelling of smoke. Something to improve, but overall a great experience!

I visited Okan for the first time after a recommendation from a Japanese friend. I was looking forward to it as I love Okonomiyaki and had not had it outside of Japan. I am pleased to write that the meal exceeded my expectations. I have to comment on the atmosphere first of all. When you walk into Okan, it is like you are in a small but cosy restaurant in Japan. I genuinely felt like I was transported back to Osaka with the way the restaurant is laid out and even the notices on the walls. It was a really nice feeling of nostalgia which enhanced the dining experience. There were a number of dishes on the menu which I have not come across in other Japanese restaurants in London. I chose the Isobe Yaki and Onasu as side dishes and they were delicious. I then had their special, the Wagyu Beef Okonomiyaki as my main course. It was just as good as any Okonomiyaki which I had in Japan. Of course, I could not resist dessert and finally settled on the Yuzu Cheesecake. The service provided by Taka san and the rest of the team was also excellent. All of the dishes I ordered were served promptly and they were happy to answer any questions I had and also engage in friendly conversation. I spoke to the staff in Japanese, but I overheard them speaking to other customers in English and there were no communication issues. There are a lot of Japanese restaurants in London, but I genuinely think that Okan is something special. I will definitely be back when I need my Okonomiyaki fix and look forward to trying other things from the menu. I highly recommend Okan if you want an authentic Japanese eating experience.

Very authenic,food is amazing a must visit. And if you have a picky eater i recomend the tori onigiri.But if your up for anything i recomend a okan noodles

Food wasn’t great - The grilled gyozas tasted too much of whatever food had been on the grill before, likewise the grilled edamame.
