Beautiful authentic Japanese restaurant near the London eye. Food came quickly and all tasted very good (all veggie food) excellent value for money

The food, the atmosphere and the service were excellent. Taka did a great job at making us feel at home. Definitely always ask him about sake recommendations.

Okan is a hole-in-the-wall spot that’s absolutely worth checking out. The food is fresh, flavorful, and a nice change of pace from the usual options. The staff were friendly, and the menu offers something unique you do not find everywhere. It is a small space and can get a bit warm with the kitchen so close, but the quality of the food makes it worth it. A great stop if you are near South Bank and want something tasty and memorable.

Amazing atmosphere, felt like we were in a back street cafe of Osaka! Great food, loved watching the young chefs cook right in front of us. Book the counter area if you eating alone it’ll just two people, really authentic. Toilets are a trek. Really friendly staff. They don’t really do walk-in so book ahead on Opentable.co.uk

Wonderful restaurant, have been a few times. This is the only place in London that makes Okonomiyaki like I had in Japan. The vibes are very authentic aswell. Was served by Taka who was lovely!!!

Great experience - definitely make a reservation. The place is super tiny, but there are about seven tables. Everything is a bit cramped, and the kitchen and dining area are essentially one. The drinks and food selection is varied, and specials are posted on the walls. We tried six different dishes and loved all of them.

The most authentic okonomiyaki you can probably find in UK. Went to Japan in March and Okan was more authentic than the ones in Japan! The okonomiyaki portion was great and filled with cabbage and not just the batter which made it taste amazing! Cannot miss out on the Yaki Onigiri which was beautiful! The interior throws you back into old Japan with the Teppan in front of you which adds to the atmosphere! Space is quite tight so would recommend making reservation first. All staff was japanese and were really nice. Will definitely come back!

I had wanted to eat at Okan for a while and found myself in the area so I tried my luck as a walk-in. Despite it being a busy Thursday evening in the restaurant, Taka and the team found space for me and I was made very welcome. I enjoyed the food, the Umeshu (a first for me outside of Japan), the atmosphere and the friendly hospitality of Okan Southbank.

Taka was a great host, and he answered all of our questions. So cool to watch the food being made in front of you at the bar!

Food, service, and atmosphere were all perfect. Taka was very accommodating to us. The beef Yaki udon was so delicious! Pure umami 👌 The beef okonomiyaki was a very close second, full of flavour. The drinks were very refreshing too. The atmosphere is great, cosy but has a bustling Tokyo energy to it.

Amazing food and vibes, okonomiyaki was just perfect umami flavour bomb and the Yaki udon is probably one of the best noodle dishes I’ve had in awhile. Shout out to my man Taka for accommodating us , arigato!!

Lively, small Japanese street food place where the chefs cook in front of you. Although fully booked a Sunday evening, Taki did his best to find a table to seat us. We had Okonomiyaki, Miso pot beef & Special Don Mix. Excellent food!! We paid approx 20£ per person including a pint of beer. Recommended!!

A brilliant, cute hole in the wall style little Japanese place with delicious okonomiyaki!

OKAN: A delightful accidental find! We were hungry in the area and stumbled upon this little place. Don't let its size fool you - it's packed with authentic flavor. We tried the okonomiyaki, onigiri, and some noodles, and everything was absolutely great. Highly recommend checking out this hidden gem!

When I came to England and didn't speak English and was always having trouble finding food, I happened to be drawn to a restaurant with a Japanese name and the smell of grilled sauce, but the employees were very kind and I had an enjoyable meal. When I entered, the restaurant was full of customers, but the employee kindly arranged the time and made a reservation for me, and I was able to enter the restaurant about an hour later. Definitely recommended for those who like Japanese food. I think Okan-san is a wonderful shop where you can feel Japan while being in London.

Had a wonderful lunch at OKAN Southbank! I ordered the Isobe Yaki (starter) and the Okan Omu Mix (signature main) - they were delicious! Generous portion sizes, and very cool environment and ambience. Would highly recommend this restaurant, usually needs a reservation on busy days.

It’s a lovely intimate setting. The staff's exceptional service is noteworthy, particularly Taka, who took the time to guide me through the extensive sake selection. His recommendations proved phenomenal, and I am grateful for his expertise. We were fortunate enough to meet the owner, Moto, who exuded warmth and graciousness. I eagerly anticipate returning to Okan and look forward to planning weekend trips to London solely for the purpose of dining here. If you are in London, I highly recommend visiting this culinary gem, which serves the finest food.

Great Japanese restaurant tucked away on the South Bank. Thank you to Taka for finding me space at short notice when they were fully booked. I can see why it’s so popular. The signature Okonomiyaki dish was fabulous.
