Travelling north to Cumbria decided to stop at ok diner at Tickencote for a break on the A1 parked and entered diner was asked to enter reg number in a wall machine apparently for permission to park, staff were welcoming and pleasant, food was ok, stayed about an hour then continued our journey, three weeks later received £100 parking fine through the post, apparently we are not the only ones to have been scammed like this, did not see any warnings anywhere so will in future stay away from ok diners.

We were regular visitors enjoying an all day breakfast which is in fairness a difficult meal to mess up. It was usually acceptable. However, they have passed their parking regulation on their car park to a company who make a living by handing out parking fines, for which I received one for £100 following our visit in August. My appeal was rejected despite providing proof of purchase at the establishment at that time, which they acknowledged but still laughably didn’t cancel the fine but offered me a discount for prompt payment. Never, ever again. Ever. And I urge people to avoid the place.

Actually I did not get to eat or drink there, but I intended to. I pulled off the A1 as there was a sign to services. I parked and went into the restaurant but there was a queue waiting for a table. I waited a while, then asked a waitress if I could use the toilet (the services sign showed toilets) I was told I had to go across to the service station to use theirs! strange I thought. In the petrol station I then thought I'd just get a snack rather than wait for a restaurant table. Less than 15 minutes later I went back to my car and continued my journey. A few days later I received a parking ticket for £100 for not paying for my time in the car park!! The signs did say parking was for OK Diners only, but I fully intended to have something to eat there. Despite appeals, the private parking company SMART PARKING would not cancel the charge. I will never go anywhere near an OK Diner again. It is simply not OK.

The orange juice was zingy and delicious. The bigger breakfast minus baked beans and tomatoes was requested and she offered replacement items of equivalent cost which I accepted.Breakfast arrive freshly cooked and swiftly served, perfectly cooked fried bread, hash browns bacon, black pudding, sausage and fried eggs with tasty mushrooms and toast.Well worth the £8.25 and as a member of the OK Diners Club you get a 15% discount on food and drink. Can't really fault this place for great breakfasts in a clean and friendly atmosphere.

This has become a place we visit quite regularly. Cheerful, bubbly staff, good menu and hot and filling food. Great for families. Not a romantic dinner venue but if you want really good fresh food served quickly in nice surroundings stop off here. Their all day breakfast is a regular favourite, their Stilton burger with curly fries never disappoints and their salads are very good. The choice of wine is 1red or 2 white but it's not really a place for drinking! Great stopping place about 10 yards off the A1. Definitely try it.

I have driven past OK Diners so many times but never had the need to stop until last night on a long drive back home. We arrived around 8:30pm and it was fairly quiet. We were seated immediately. It's typical of your greasy spoon/American diner feel but we quite liked the authenticity of it all. The young waiter was attentive and helpful. The food was okay, but I wouldn't have said it was anything special. The toilets could have done with a bleach and the tables could have been cleaned a little better but thats just me being picky. £45 for a family of four to eat, I thought was fairly reasonable. Thats 6 drinks, 4 meals and 4 puddings. All in all, it was a good experience but I am not going to be in a rush to return!

I had the philly steak burger (beef brisket on a burger with cheese sauce) - this comes with fries and some burger relish. My boyfriend had an “all the way” burger...it’s got EVERYTHING on it. Looked really tasty. Then there were the milkshakes...I had the peanut butter cup (bloomin’ delicious) and he had a Nutella milkshake (also pretty darn yummy!) Sadly I had the misfortune to visit the toilets halfway through my meal & they were filthy. There were hairs on the seat, they stank of urine, the toilet brush was foul & there were clumps of dust on the bottom of the partitions. It obviously hadn't been properly cleaned for months. When I brought this to the attention of the staff they declared that it had been cleaned - I'm not sure in which decade! Sadly my toilet experience put me off the rest of my meal. We won't return & I'm astounded that some people make a special visit to go to this filthy place.

My two boys are big fans and so using their knowledge I have to recommend this as an occasional treat. Prices not cheap when you start to add on all your drinks and not all burger meals are in the £6 bracket. In total this last minute decision visit cost me £48 so you can see why they advertise £6 Burger Wednesdays.

So we were extra keen to stop at the southbound one on the way home. I was really surprised to find it so quiet as these are real gems on the A1. Not a sleazy caff or a coffee-shop chain, the OK Diners have a chrome-glistening American vibe. The milk shakes are unsurpassed in this country! This time I only had a pancake stack, but it was magnificent, and my partner had a BLT which was well stuffed and came with fries (made from real potato, he said) and salad. Fast food restaurants on the A1 have traditionally been of a very poor standard, and have therefore not survived. The O.K. diner should not, must not be viewed in the same way as the old Happy Chef and Little Eater dives that have been the only stopping off points on that long journey between North and South, or v v.My wife and I called in to the Stamford branch, last night, on our way home from holiday. We were very hungry , having only eaten a bag of crisps, costing about two thousand pounds, care of Mr O'Leary of Ryan Air.We were welcomed at the door by a happy go lucky waitress, who later told us that she was Spanish. Nothing was too much trouble for her. She was attentive and efficient. Our meals arrived very quickly and o'boy were they good. This was not plastic food that had just arrived from Brake Brothers. It was superb quality and cooked to perfection.Having thoroughly enjoyed our main courses, we made a monumental mistake when ordering a desert. We both chose different versions of a kind of ice cream sundae.I dont know how one person managed to carry them to our table. They were enormous. One such offering would have been more than adequate for the two of us. However, in true British style we took on the challenge and battled through to the end. I remember little about he remainder of the journey home, other than praying that I would make it without lapsing into a coma induced by serious over eating. To be serious for a moment. The O.K Diner is proof that it can be done in Britain. I mean good food can be served at a reasonable price in nice surroundings by cheerful staff. Its just that we are not accustomed to it !!!P.S. I have only awarded the OK Diner 5 stars as there is no option to leave 6.

We stopped here for a meal on the way back from Stansted Airport and were treated to delicious food with large portions for reasonable prices. The staff are so friendly and could not do enough for us. All the food went down very well and it was a great way to finish off a lovely holiday. Well done!!! OK diners is a brand that is so good value for money with tasty food and lots of choice. Cannot fault it!!

This is one of my favourite stops. I like the food the American style decor and music. Toilets clean. Menu based around breakfast with additions such as burger range. We had the bacon steaks and eggs well cooked and served by Sarah who looked after us well. I recommend as a good stop on the A1.

Visited today with husband, 4 year old and mother in law. Food was excellent (three burgers and kids chicken then desserts), service was friendly and fast but not rushed, premises very clean including toilets. Very reasonable for 4 meals, 4 deserts and 5 drinks, £57. Will definitely go again as the milkshakes looked great but we didn't have space left!

I never fail to amaze how Little Chef/Happy Eater places cannot check out what the opposition can do. OK Diner is excellent - good an prompt service, good value for money and the food is good value too. Quite a selection on the menu so whatever your tastes you should be OK!

Just wasted half an hour of my and my husband's precious time en route to see our (autistic) daughter, a 200 mile journey. After waiting for half an hour, I enquired where our order was and was informed that the ticket was "lost". They were not even busy. I never leave bad reviews but am furious, hungry and on my way to McDonald's. The rating is for the tea which we drank during our wait.

The premises are a little on the small side so I suppose they rely on a constant throughput of travellers not wanting to stay long. On arrival you're confronted by a building decked out in a substantial amount of shiny metal. There was a good welcome and shown to a table without a delay. However there is quite a delay from ordering the food to having it served. The first coffees served were just tepid and out of a machine that was in reality like instant coffee. When it came the food was quite average but at least far better than MacDonald's (anything is!). There's a decent quantity but not really that cheap. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the surroundings interesting to look at all reminiscent of the diners in America of the 50's and 60's you see in pictures and films. The premises were clean, bright and airy with memorabilia decking the walls. There's the novelty factor but in essence just average American style food. Although I would actually go again so not too bad!

Quick service. Good burgers. Great surroundings if you like 50s diners. Very popular with both motorists and locals. Really good selection on the menu and banana milkshakes are brillQuickly cooked and you can see the cooking area all nice and clean. Better than MacDonald's any day. Meal for 5 at £50 so not bad.

Called here on the way back from holiday. We arrived very hungry and thirsty. It's been several years since we last visited. I have to say that the last time was a very poor experience. Food was poor and we were disappointed, particularly because we used to live close by and were regular visitors when our kids were young. This time the food and service were exemplary. We had a chilli/cheese burger + fries, BLT + fries, chicken burger + fries and an all day breakfast that the server offered to change items on for my son. The food was arguably as good if not better than it has ever been and the portions were very good too. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal we had. Our waitress Katie deserves a special mention and praise. She was attentive, efficient and very nice to us. Thanks Katie and thanks to all the staff at the OK Diner. We will be back the next time we are passing through Stamford on the A1. Recommended!!!

We took our 3 kids here as a treat, they really enjoyed it however it was SO cold and we were sat right under the air con unit, we asked if it could be switched off or if we could move and were told no, which was disappointing as it ruined the experience for me; if it was a hot day I could understand it, but it was cold and rainy. The food was average, kids really enjoyed it (other that also being really cold). I would go back, but maybe not for a while.

Nice diner. Good American style good food. Child options good and reasonable in price. Dissapointing cleanliness of floor and toilets. But far better than a little chef or McDonald's. Will visit again.

We often drove past this diner and it was always busy. Dropped in on Saturday just out of interest as we have visited USA many times. The menu is very close to what would have expected over the pond. Food was well cooked and prompt, and the milkshakes are a must try. We will be visiting again.

Avoid, didn't even make it through the door due to customer queue. Needed to use the facilities also so had to make a dash across to the service station and left. Apparently they operate a penalty charge scheme in the car park that is not clearly marked. Also reports that even if you do enter your registration into their login tablet you still get fined - I travelled with a disabled person and used one of the marked disabled bays displaying the appropriate badge and received £100 fine for 10min!!!
