The Oddfellows, since Jamie took over, has been completely transformed. It's a wonderful place to be - it's a real community hub, which is also incredibly friendly and welcoming to those who aren't local. The beers are kept really well, everything is fairly priced and they take genuine pride in providing an excellent experience.

I wasn’t previously a regular at the Oddfellows but my husband and I stopped in yesterday when passing and was warmly welcomed by Jamie who has now taken over the pub. Really nice to know that it’s been taken over by a local and I’m sure Jamie will more than do the place justice. The pub has had a lovely refurb and the interior is warm and inviting (love the gorgeous terrariums dotted about). No food on offer yet but it is in Jamie’s future plans. Looking forward to seeing what mobile food vendors/trucks he’ll be getting in for the interim. Good luck Jamie and team, we’ll see you again very soon.

Great local pub with excellent beer. Small curry house next door and several takeaways. Open fire, good beer and friendly faces. Just what you need after long day. Simple bar snacks would be a bonus.

Decent pub but nothing out of the ordinary. Except for Dina the barmaid that introduced herself to every customer and shook your hand for some reason.

Absolute embarrassment. No beers on and what they do have they’re charging an absolute fortune for. Once a good pub now just a shell of what used to be.

Fabulous home cooked food! I had the roast lamb which was tender and delicious. Others in our group had the burger and carbonara and they all enjoyed their dinners immensely. Starters were great and the chilli on the prawns and crayfish cocktail was just right. I recommend the bread and butter pudding for desert, but the citrus tart and crumble were amazing too. Definitely need to try!

popped along to the odd fellows yesterday for a birthday meal, and although this pub has never served food in the past and we uncertain a to what to expect we were pleasantly surprised to say the least, on arrival the bar staff were very friendly and accommodating, the pub had a wonderful atmosphere, plenty of kids including our own playing out on the green which is really nice to see as it seems to be a rarity these days with the age of computer! we sat down for dinner a table of 9, and baring in mind it was just Lewis and Jo the landlords cooking the dinner service was super smooth, the rabbit ballantine which was a first for myself came out with bacon bits and a chicken jus was succulent and to die for and the 2 vegan welsh rarebits ( not on the menu, special order) came to the table and were devoured in seconds, the cod bites were fluffy and fresh, when all the mains came out there was complete silence as everyone tucked in to some fantastic main dishes, and deserts were exactly the same, basically it was all lovely home cooked to a high standard and exceeded our expectations. Well worth a visit and we are already booked in for christmas dinner, to beat the rush. P.S it seems like Lewis and Jo have put a lot of love into these fantastic menus and I'm sure that this pub will be a regular for myself and family. Thanks Guys

Food review. :) OK, so this morning I had brekkie at The Oddfellows Arms. I chose the Eggs Royale (Eggs Benedict using salmon instead of ham). The hollandaise was nice - light, not greasy and with just a hint of tarragon (which has an aniseed flavour that can easily over-power a dish). The eggs were poached so that the yolk was creamy, not too runny (raw) the spinach was wilted but still had a bite. In short - it was great. I'm a pilot and eat all over the world, and this was as good as any I have had anywhere. I also tried a bit of Irish black pudding, which was the best I had sampled. Cooked with a bit of a crust, flavoured with sage and a hint of spice it was like a rich, dark roast chicken stuffing rather than the mushy flavourless disks you sometimes get. Well worth the morning walk to the pub. :)

Stopped here with a small coach load of football supporters on the way to a match at Watford. We were made very welcome and served to a nice range of beers, lagers and ciders. Prices weren't bad for the area. We were also told they could do food for us if we gave them advance notice for future reference . Lovely staff.

Best pint of Adnams Broadside in Bedfordshire is served here , tables outside overlooking village green & parking on the local streets. Closed for a good few months this summer (2k18)& now reopened & redecorated with new landlord/lady & a fresher warmer ambience( the fireplace now working for autumn/winter....drinks menu has changed slightly...glad to have the pub back. As of December 2k18 no more Broadside but new landlord stated he will be doing a rotating seasonal ale instead.

To start with, despite my rating I do want to say that the food was absolutely faultless. I would go so far as to say it was the best taster menu I've ever had. Perhaps the best meal I've ever had if I'm honest! Every dish was so expertly put together and each one hit all the right flavour notes. You could tell that Steve has worked hard to ensure everything is perfectly balanced. The dish presentation was elegant and didn't feel pretentious, unlike some other taster menus I've had (costing far more) which seemed more about visual wow factor than actually tasting delicious and leaving you wanting more. The service was also excellent and there was a good atmosphere. The waiter was upbeat and there was a bit of well-judged banter too. Each dish was presented with a brief intro to the ingredients, and a nice touch was that Steve also presented a couple of the dishes himself. If this is all that matters to you, you can stop reading my review now because the rest is nitpicking, but for a premium experience I feel a few tweaks would have made for a knockout evening. The points below are far from dealbreakers, so please do take that into account - they absolutely shouldn't stop you going. - No prices on the drinks menu and no beer on offer. I think the wine list may have had pricing, but we don't drink wine so we were looking at what else was on offer. I assume that people will generally go to Eileen's with a healthy budget, and perhaps not really care what they're going to add on top of the taster menu price (which, for what it is, is very good value). However, it felt really awkward to be asking the waiter for the cost of a G+T - and he didn't come back with an answer so we just ordered anyway, not knowing what we would be billed. We also felt that the drinks menu presentation was poor - it was a set of laminated A4 sheets of paper, which just didn't feel premium. There weren't any beers on the drinks menu either - but given that the sheets were all separate, I just wonder if one was missing as we thought this was odd. - Decor. We were in the downstairs area, and it feels like there's a disparity between the food proposition and the environment. There are some uplighters dotted around which feel quite dated, but the thing that felt very non-premium were the cheap LED rechargeable table lamps. When we were seated, the waiter turned it on and within a few minutes it started flickering which was really distracting so I turned it off, which kind of killed the ambience. I asked for a replacement and that one ran out of power within a couple of minutes. The waiter did spot this, calling them the bane of his life, and replaced with a simple candle which was so much more appropriate anyway. They should honestly throw them all away and stick with candles - keep it simple! I would say that the upstairs area, where the bar is, had a bit more appeal. - Music. While the music choice was absolutely fine (rather upbeat for premium dining, but it worked) the music service was a free one - meaning that every few songs an advert came on, like we were listening to a local radio station. This really cheapened the whole thing, and although it probably went unnoticed by people in deep conversation, once I noticed it once, each time an advert came on it really jarred with me. Like I said, the food was absolutely sensational, the service was great and the things above wouldn't stop us returning. I've only docked a point because at this price point you have certain expectations, and there were a few things about the environment that fell a little short - but so easily fixed.
