Great food and service as always, we came late in the evening of Sunday easter and the group welcomed us for dinner which we enjoyed a lot with our kids. Special thanks for Saeideh for being accommodating for us!

Fantastic restaurant. A very friendly greeting by the staff was the pre cursor to an excellent experience. The food was fresh, delicious and very reasonably priced. The deserts and milkshakes were top quality also. The staff were very attentive and worked with smiles on their faces. Well done to all involved, I look forward to returning.

A fantastic restaurant with great food - I went with my son and we loved the fish n chips: the best hake I have ever tasted!! Service was above and beyond, particularly Saeideh who indulged my son's cheeky request for some of the tasty bread rolls to take home for tea. Highly recommended!

We love Ocean Basket - the food is always very good, really nice ambience on the river in Kingston, the service always friendly and professional, Saeideh was our server and she was SO lovely, made our night that much nicer!!

Definitely one of the best restaurants in Kingston. Great food with reasonable price. Very friendly staff with quick actions even though sometimes there are a lot of costumers. Excellent view too if you’re sitting next to the river (or near the windows). Cosmina is definitely the MVP. She is always kind and nice to the customers. We are now regular customers and we highly recommend to everyone!

I was sure that nothing special would happen. But everything was delicious, especially the mussels in the sauce. I'm not a fan of mussels, but these were incredibly tasty😌 They brought us rice instead of potatoes, but they immediately corrected the situation and brought additional potatoes. Definitely worth the money. The only thing is that it is better to get there by car. Because it takes a long time on public transport.

You cannot go wrong here, small team so don't expect lightning service but food is worth the wait

Such a great nostalgic experience - it’s just like the one in South Africa, if not slightly better! Since there are only two here, it feels a bit more premium. The bread and sauces in the beginning are the same (green chili less spicy than SA) and the meals are served in the same pans. The lemon butter sauce is bang on and so good! The chips and rice are perfect, I’d say better than SA. The prawns, fish and calamari are all excellent and just as good. And to top it off, you can eat while looking onto the Thames if you get a table outside or by the window. The only thing I really missed was the red peri peri sauce that the SA ones have, otherwise I’ve been twice and it’s amazing!

Had lunch at Ocean Basket Kingston today with the family and had such a nice time! Big shoutout to Saeideh who looked after us – she was super friendly, always smiling, and just had such a warm and welcoming vibe. You can really tell she enjoys what she does, and it made a big difference to our experience. She chatted with the kids, made sure everything was going well, and was just genuinely lovely the whole time. As a parent of three, I really appreciate places like OB – good food, decent prices, and a relaxed environment. The river view and sunshine today were a bonus. The food came out just at the right time, was tasty, and the portions were generous (perfect when you’ve got hungry kids!). It’s not our first visit and definitely won’t be our last. Thanks again to the whole team – and especially Saeideh – for making our lunch feel special.

A Taste of Home 🇿🇦🇬🇧 We’re so happy to have one of our favourite South African restaurant franchises here in the UK! Every visit feels like a nostalgic journey home, and the seafood never disappoints – fresh and flavourful. On our last visit, we were lucky enough to sit outside and soak up the sunshine, which made the experience even more special. A huge shoutout to Rosh, our waiter, who was not only attentive but also engaging and genuinely funny – he really made the meal even more enjoyable. Highly recommend for anyone craving a taste of SA or just looking for amazing seafood and great vibes. We’ll definitely be back!

Fabulous late lunch-early dinner! Enjoyed the family platter, and our server lady Saeideh was very helpful ! Nice to see restaurant bussy with families ( including young children) and other groups of people ( couples, groups of friends, etc.) Also, staff are very attentive to their patrons.

I went there yesterday, with a friend by recommendation, for 1st time. From outside, it doesn't look appealing, but I truly recommend it now that I tried it myself. From the entrance till we left, the service was impacable. I ll definitely go again! Great job and tasty food, guys!

Great location by the river and service / atmosphere to match. Came in for Mother's Day early dinner and we were treated to an absolute feast. Fantastic service all round but particularly from Moeez who was very attentive and kind to our little toddler. Is becoming a firm favourite and a very safe and solid choice.

The food was amazing, and we were served by a lovely lady named Saeideh, who was both friendly and quick. I recommend trying the full deck with the extra garlic sauce👌🏽

Had a great pre mother's day meal last night. Food was excellent ,we had a small issue elf one of the meals but this was rectified very quickly and without fuss Saeidah was brilliant ,just the right amount of attentiveness, nothing was too much to ask. she and the team there are a real testament to what good service is.

First time at Ocean Basket. We visited Saturday 29th March around 5pm without a booking and were lucky to get a table for 2. Maurice seated us, a really lovely friendly and welcoming young guy , in fact all the staff are really great. We shared a platter and it was amazing. The hake was so light and fresh and the mussels prawns and calamari were perfect. The complementary bread and dips were also delicious. I was impressed with the pale rose house wine, very reasonably priced, well chilled and seemed high quality. We will come back without a doubt , everything about the place was very good especially the staff who are very busy in a packed restaurant.

We had a taster evening and had the delight of trying lots of different menu items. The prawns in dynamite sauce were delicious. We loved the mussels in garlic sauce. The calamari was the best I have tasted. Everything was so fresh. The staff are all so friendly. There's seating by the river too. I thoroughly recommend this restaurant. I will be going back :)

Fresh seafood and great taste at good price. The staffs are really helpful and pay attention to you. The view is stunning and recommend outside table to enjoy the lake view.

A relatively new riverside place in Kingston and it's fantastic! Very reasonably priced, the (sea)food is delicious, and service excellent! The fish was juicy with crispy breading, and chips were perfect! On addition, river views - very pleasant. Nice, fish-related decor. 10 out of 10!

We could not have had a better evening, our server Julian was so attentive and authentic, making us genuinely laugh out loud. The food was exactly what you’d expect and the atmosphere was lovely. Again cannot rate Julian enough, he really made our date night.

This has fast become a favourite restaurant to celebrate a family birthday! On the request of our son, we visited to celebrate his birthday. He has a shellfish allergy but loves Ocean Basket fried cod and chips, and his allergy has always been catered for. On this occasion, the waitress told us that because of a platter special they were running with shellfish, all meals were being prepared in the same oil. He would need to order grilled fish and rice. Seemingly far from the birthday meal he had in mind, but completely understanding of the situation, we decided to finish our drinks and find somewhere else for his birthday dinner. On hearing this, the Manager (Julian) came to our table and told us he would absolutely make a plan to have our son's meal cooked separately and catered for! We were so appreciative of the effort they put in to make sure our son could celebrate there... and even sang happy birthday when they brought his dessert! Great restaurant... and fantastic Manager!!
