Amazing food and great staff especially Saeideh.

Underwhelming and over priced. Sharer was not enough for 2 people. The chips were barely enough for one person. Prawns are small, once cut in half and grilled there is almost no point trying the separate the fused shell from the tiny amount of prawns left. Disappointing. ***** Update***** I emailed them as per their reply and I am yet to get a response. Completely disingenuous service.

OB Kingston has had a noticeable decline of late and is a far cry from the high CX standards on display when it first started in Kingston. We were made to wait for over 20 minutes before someone came to greet us and take our orders. The seafood platter we ordered was half cold, the breads hard & cold, and we were placed next to a service table with used utensils (very hygienic!). Getting the attention of a waiter was an ordeal - disappointing given it was a quiet Monday evening. Seems the manager was far interested in planning the rest of the evening's after-activities instead of attending to customers. We skipped dessert just to get out of there quickly. Feel free to take the +12.5% service fee added automatically to the bill - I also couldn't be bothered to argue about the wrong order item in my bill. We won't be coming back. What a pity! OB at some of the smallest towns in ZA far outshines the Kingston experience we had this evening...

We were served by the lovely staff member Saeideh, she was extremely wonderfull with her service, really approachable and treated us with so much respect. We had a lovely time and the food was amazing

My new favourite restaurant. Amazing place, food is delicious and great value. Huge variety of seafood. Great wine selection. Been 3 times now and it's fantastic. Staff are super friendly and the CEO Grace is an absolute gem. Lovely river location. Go check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Perfect all round. The best fish and chips I have ever had. The staff are amazing and the atmosphere buzzing. I can understand why it is so busy. I would 100% recommend a visit. Good value for money. It was an accidental visit but so glad I went.

Great food, atmosphere is family friendly. Busy restaurant, our waiter Saeideh was friendly, efficient and offered service above and beyond with our young children. We have been multiple times to this restaurant with and without our children for lunch or early dinner and have always had a lovely experience.

Had a lovely family meal to celebrate my birthday. Food was great, choice was impressive, price was fair and restaurant had a great vibe. Clean and well organized. Lovely view over the river too. What was really special was the service. Our waitress Saeideh (had to make her spell that, hope I got it right) was just so good. Friendly, bubbly and full of fun as well as being very professional. If all your staff are like that and your food is always that good we’ll be regulars.

I was very impressed with my lunch at the Kingston Ocean Basket which is located by the River Thames and has a great view of the river. I had grilled hake fish and chips, and the fish was cooked to perfection. The service was also very good. Would definitely recommend

Not bad but not great either. Slow service, mains arrived before oysters (which didn’t look good). Food was ok.

We had an amazing experience at Ocean Basket! The fish was cooked to perfection, and the calamari was tender and full of flavor. The portions were generous, and everything was fresh and beautifully presented. Our waiter, Max, was absolutely fantastic—friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect place for a relaxed dining experience. Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely be back! Well done to Max!

All the dishes we enjoyed were excellent and fresh. The staff were very friendly, except for one English gentleman (noted as English because the other multinational staff were extremely friendly and provided outstanding service, unlike him). He seemed to undervalue customers, as he didn't give us a menu for over 10 minutes, despite it not being a busy time and no other customers needing attention, and guided us to a seat we didn't want. We asked another staff member if we could change tables and she kindly showed us to a place inside with a view of the Thames. The dishes were freshly prepared and fantastic! We will definitely return whenever we're in the mood for seafood. Highly recommended and reasonably priced.

Absolutely amazing. I messed up our book but when I called, I spoke to Julian and he was amazing in helping me sort it out. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant everyone was so welcoming. Our waitresses name was Saeideh, she honestly was great. Our experience was 10/10. We will definitely be back.

I’ve ordered a pite of the ocean to take away last night, the guy I was dealing with didn’t have a clue what he was doing, firstly he said I wasn’t allowed to take away if I want the Special offer they do on Wednesday, I’ll have eat in. later on he said I can, when I went home they were no tissues , no fork and knife, nothing to clean my hand with, he was very unkind, unhelpful, rude, difficult to deal with, and shouldn’t be dealing with the public, that was my last visit, I’ll never go back again

Great place, feels like a bit of South Africa. Service was amazing, in particular Saeideh who was amazing. Lovely hearing all the Saffa accents in one room.

We had a family platter the first time and this time we had full deck platter. Amazing as always. Excellent service from Rosh⭐️He constantly asked us how our food was, if we need any anything and served us with a smile. Definitely visiting again soon😃😌

I've been here a few times now. The team are always incredibly friendly and the service is impeccable. They scan the room to ensure that everyone looks happy and manage to time their check ins perfectly. Food is great, the time before last we managed to book for 10 and all the food was ready way quicker than other places. Definitely recommend if you like seafood.

When we lived in SA, we would eat at OB at least once a month, so it was great coming here today and it felt like the old days. Our waitress Saeideh was brilliant, really friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back

Been back three times since my last review and all three times have been an absolute pleasure with great customer service, especially this last visit. Our waitress, Saeidah went all out ensuring we were properly seen to. Even when the salt grinder was not sealed correctly and opened over my daughter’s food, she appeared without me even having to turn around to motion for assistance. This told me that we were still being watched and taken care of even after the food arrived. The quality of food was fantastic and worth every penny. A massive improvement and I must commend those working to ensure the standards staying above board. Will definitely continue returning to this restaurant and would highly recommend it.

We visited Ocean Basket on 14/12/2024 for a birthday party with a group of 8 adults and 3 kids. While we’ve celebrated special occasions here before and had good experiences, this visit was a nightmare. The waiter mentioned we were ordering the last portion of oysters. Who would ever thought that all 6 adults who got them became ill with varying symptoms of what seemed to be rotavirus after eating them. The food was otherwise regular, but this incident completely ruined our next 3-5 days for most of our family. What should have been a memorable birthday turned into an awful experience. After this, we’ll think twice (or ten times) before ever returning. Absolutely unacceptable.

I absolutely love Ocean Basket (Kingston) OB was always a staple when we lived in South Africa, so naturally when one opened in our neighbourhood in the UK we were intrigued! We go often enough to know that this restaurant is consistent with food taste, quality, great service and atmosphere! We took my aunty to ocean basket last night and she said the food was better than South Africa!! This restaurant never disappoints!!!

Had lunch at Ocean Basket and was really looking forward it but the service in this restaurant has really got so bad that we will never return. Then they still have the cheek to add 12.5% service charge to the bill. As fellow South Africans really disappointing.

It was my first visit, and I was thoroughly impressed. The staff ensured friendly and efficient service throughout. I tried the Monday special of hake and chips, which was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant, especially for its lovely view overlooking the River Thames.
