Captain's Fish and Chips in Kingston upon Thames

Decent quality. A bit pricey as would be expected inside the theme park. Could do with upgrading the quality of chips to actual real potato fish and chip shop chips. But oh well.

We queued for over 10 minutes to be told that the last order had been taken (even though it was an hour and a half before their closing time!) But now I've looked at the other reviews on here, they probably did us a favour!

Food here was pretty poor. Sad oven chips, the fish was chewy and they served me undercooked sausages. Had to have them replaced. Should be closed down and an actual fish and chip shop should take over.

The worst fish and chips £12.5 in my life. A bit of unstated fish covered in extremly thick buttered cover. Nobody clean tables or trays Horrible music

All starving so I ordered for my family and me. Chips were just bad - not sure how they were so hard and wrong. Curry sauce was wrong and not good. Fish was ok. Fanta just tasted of soda water. Don’t think we will return here again.

Food was average but we didn't expect anything special. The main complaint was that most of the staff had more interest in chatting and joking with each other than serving customers.

Afraid was just so greasy and catch of day you just think cod is totally not the fish is pollock absolute no taste in pollock. So overpriced for pollock and chips felt bit ripped off. Felt sleep and tired after I ate it 😴 as so much grease

Sadly this has been run into the ground burnt chicken and fish, soggy chips, missing sides and more expensive than ever since the new operator came on. Shame as this was one the nicest places to eat in the park.

Wrong closing time all restaurants close early apart from hotel restaurants

Closed yesterday (3 May) with no explanation why leaving the only non meat option being the rip off pizza joint charging £16 per adult for sub standard rip off pizza. Please don't rely on Chessington for food and bring your own if visiting

Seems greatly improved higher quality food and better portions, plenty of condiments. Fish and chips where very tasty. Service was a little slow but worth the wait

Staff too busy mucking around behind the counter. Server had her back to us, which was rude. NO salt in a “fish & chip shop” the fish had a nasty taste and was under cooked, we left totally dissatisfied, still hungry and robbed of £25. No appropriate adult or supervisor to complain to. I would not recommend this establishment to eat! Complaint has been submitted, a week later and no response from the resort!

Salt me chips and turns out they had run out of salt and when l said, " l can not eat chips without salt" one of the boys there says " l sold you chips and not salt" like really!!! How rude

There was merely 12 people in que when we joined, it took well over 45 mins to serve, and they only do fish and chips or fingers and chips - would it take this long at your normal Chippys? The guy on the till was asking customers “what sides would you like” when sides are not part of the meal deal. The lady in front specified and then when asked to pay she was told it was not included which wasted time. Guy asked us in the same way, it seemed a complete misleading question, and probably tricks or embarrasses many people into ordering and then paying for it. Asking a customer if they would like sides is not wrong but asking what sides they would like implies they have ordered it already or it is included. It is wrong in my opinion. The food was nice however except no salt when we visited and no wedge of lemon despite this being clearly advertised. At &9.95 it is also on the pricy side, I understand they have a high cost but you are paying for that cost in the ticket prices, they shouldn’t double up on the profit on everything on top.

This was the most disgusting fish and chips I’ve ever had. £9.50 for fish that tasted of polluted seawater, mushy and tasteless. The batter was soggy and tough and more like cardboard then food. How can they serve such vile fare in this day and age?? Why not use franchises like Pret A Manger for food which is both affordable and edible.

For a place in a theme park, it is practically a Michelin star. Tasty food, clean and kind service.

Much better quality than I'd expected for a theme park restaurant, and priced about the same as any local fish a chip shop in the area. Only downsides I could imagine are that it probably get quite cramped when the park is busy, and that there was only 1 high chair available at the time, which could cause problems if you have young ones.

Terrible food and overpriced. The coffee tastes like dirt and the chips are dry. Would not recommend. Very disappointed.

It was generally good and popular. They make it fresh. You don't get masses of chips but it's a good meal they also do pies and sausage as well.

In terms of the building it was out of the way and it was quite noisy inside and the food was also ok , not the best.

We stayed overnight in the hotel and chose to have lunch at captains fish and chips, we live at the seaside so we know our fish and chips and I have to say they were great! Portion sizes huge and not dripping in grease Fantastic value for money. The staff although young were efficient, polite and hard working. One young girl in particular called Charlotte was very sweet, asked about our day and gave my son her pop badge. All round pleasant visit. We recommend the restaurant highly and will be sure to visit again when we return

Disgusting!! Cold fish staff clueless disgrace for the cost

First off the service is appalling.. One young man (looked about 15) manning a till taking orders that then goes down the line to 2 other young men (looked about 16) that SLOWLY fill the order and FINALLY call your number 25 mins later and 3 portions of chips (barely cooked), one fish finger meal deal (really was that actually fish?) and a sausage (edible)...£20... We went in half term when most of the UK population goes as well, the lack of staff in restaurants and ice-cream outlets is astonishingly low.. Management really do need to re-think how to make customers (and their staff) happy all year round

Chips tasted nice but some of mine were undercooked. If you're on a budget, then avoid as it's expensive. In fact all the food places here are ridiculously overpriced. Pack a picnic instead

Fish always fresh and well cooked. For the price this is good quality. I always opt for the fish as am not a pasta/pizza fan

If you like your food with no taste and a texture of old boots then this is the place for you. tasted like it had been sitting there all day drying out. left it o the seagulls who didn't look too impressed eating - total waste of money

Fish was burnt and flavourless, chips were like cheap oven chips. Curry sauce was water. Drinks served in plastic cups with plastic lids but there weren’t any straws as apparently they’re trying to save the environment. As a family from Norfolk we know what decent fish and chips taste like, the ones served at Captains should be put back in the sea. Very disappointing.

VERY Slow Service esepcially as it was pretty empty, Average Food (but teh kids portion was pretty big to be fair) and not the most amazing place. BUT it was good enough. Just.

You don't expect culinary masterpieces at theme parks but this was a little underwhelming. Service wasn't the best. Order in front being messed up which seemed to send a knock on effect down the queue. Chips a tad soggy and the fish was disguised with a heavy amount of batter.

Just came here for some chips and a drink as a quick lunch whilst we were in the park, food was decent but overpriced especially just for a soft drink. It was fairly clean and the staff were nice!

Expectations for fast food venues in theme parks aren't generally high, but wow the fish was freshly cooked and excellent. Did eat just after 12, so restaurant was quiet, which probably helped ;-) Young staff were great. Well done.

This is a great little restaurant and theme in the park, however like all park food its very expensive for what you get.

The fish & chips weren't very nice and the price was higer than stated on the website

We prepaid for some meal vouchers online and had been told that all the eating places were open until 5pm. We arrived at 4.25pm to be told that they had shut. We were so angry and asked to see a Manager. The attitude changed a bit then and they said the children could split the last piece of fish and had some chips. Food was disgusting to be honest. Avoid if you can and these staff need customer service training!

As our American cousins might say: this is what it is. The food is hot and the portions very large but it's incredibly basic though a good pit stop as you go round the theme park.

We got hungry after being here from 10-00 am so stopped for food before we drove back home. The food was very good. It came on cardboard dish which let it down. Also you got plastic knife and fork to eat it with.

I normally love fish and chips and so whilst the rest of my family got food from vampire kitchen, I was really looking forward to fish and chips. I was very disappointed. Chips were dry and nothing like normal chip shop chips and the fish was tasteless on the edge and hard and chewy in the middle. So bad that I had to spit it out into my napkin and so I left most of it. I am by no means a fussy eater but this really was inedible. Had to buy some donuts to take the taste away and they were fresh and delicious

We had a meal from here on 2 separate days It is the best Fish and chips that I have had for a long time They have other menus which look great as well

Visited here to have a change of scene, firstly the service was awful and rude. They got the kids order wrong, they sent out bettered sausage instead of plain, was told it would take 5 mins. After that they gave me battered again! This time she said take the batter off.

The fish is ok but the chips are standard out of the bag stuff. Not really worth the money in my view.

We started off looking at the "eat as mush as you like" reheated pasta and pizza, but at a hefty per head price, headed off to fish and chips. For £6.95, you get a hefty portion of battered fish - for ponce, lots of chunky fish and not just lots of batter - and chips and a drink. The fish comes solo too, if you're not into the rest.

We visited in late December and they chose to keep the doors fully open on a freezing cold day. The food was overpriced and just awful. The fish was undercooked and greasy, as well as taking too long to arrive. During the long wait, we sat shivering on our seats.

This was all part pre cooked slop. Tasted of dirty fat Not recommended to eat here at all. If I return then will be staying well clear of this place

we have visited here for our dinner at the end of our day before heading home, the service is brilliant, its very clean and all the condiments we need are always well stocked up. staff are always happy to help and food is very fresh. we would highly recommend eating here.

We normally prebook a meal deal when going to Chessington but this time forgot.When we got to the order point we saw the size of the kids meals and just bought kids meal deals . i f you have merlin pass this works out cheaper than booking the meal deal.

Not too many things I must say its boring
