Went for the first time for ages on Sunday for lunch. The staff were lovely and the food was fantastic - really great Sunday roast!

This is a great pub / restaurant, comfortable, great staff, good beer and excellent food. Your dog will definitely be made most welcome!

The service was diabolical and we had an unpleasant experience. The staff were not trained and we were there for almost 4 hours. Some of our food was cold and on letting the staff know, nobody came back to us following our feedback. All in all a terrible experience and we will not be coming back or recommending.

This place looks lovely from the website but in reality is far from the gastro pub it aspires to be. The heating was not on when we went and it was freezing through the building. We were firstly told the heating was on, then told they couldn’t turn it up because only the owner could do that but on his phone and they would have to call him (which they didn’t) and finally that it was broken. We would have left but had travelled a long way and arranged taxis with friends. The food was mediocre, the service was very amateur, there was no atmosphere, they had run out of things and we had to listen to a band tuning up in the bar and then thrashing out loud music while we were eating. Simple things would have made so much difference such as softening the lights in the dining room, throwing away the old tea lights and lighting new ones, telling us in advance what they had run out of things rather than bringing an incomplete dish, and providing some form of heating so I didn’t have to sit in my coat. The staff were pleasant but it felt like they hadn’t been trained at all and the building felt run down and uncared for.

Waiting staff are friendly. Not much atmosphere in the restaurant area and the fake flowers and twigs in the ceiling are very dated. Service was very slow despite only one other table having food at the same time. It was empty. The arancini balls were very okay but the salad underneath was limp. Main course x 2 arrived eventually and were not as advertised in the menu. Apparently soggy potato wedges are meant to be chunky chips. Chunky chips should be crisp on outside and fluffy in the middle. The peas were overcooked. The battered cod was perfect and huge. Halibut wrapped in Parma ham with hasselback potatoes came as halibut with a small scattering of crispy bacon bits and boiled baby potatoes. No salt or pepper on the table. The Oat Hill charges premium rates for very average food and what you order from the menu is not always going to be what you are expecting.

Came here a few years ago for a birthday and it was superb, so we booked again for another birthday. Not quite as good. Waiter very pleasant, waitress a bit ditsy but think she was new. No cutlery on table, drinks order incorrect, smokey smell from outside, had to ask for salt and pepper. Food - bread and olives starter which didn't have any balsamic in the oil and no butter I had risotto which was quite nice but a bit bland hence the request for salt. Parner had lamb, expensive but very well cooked but a bit bland. Desserts were nice. Overall, nice - ish but not anywhere nesr as good as last time :(:( Good veggie and vegan options, at least 6 dishes.

A disastrous mistake. Arrived at 1.30pm the time we booked and were given the menu. I chose wine as I hoped to order the seafood linguine on the menu we were given. The waitress then came back to tell us we had ordered from the evening menu and our choices were not available. So presumably the chef is incapable of cooking a pasta at lunchtime but totally capable in the evening! So we had to choose from the lunchtime menu. 45 minutes later the waitress came back to tell us a party of 20 had arrived and our meal would be delayed by another 10 minutes. We decided enough was enough and cancelled the meal. We were still charged in full for the drinks we had had and no manager appeared to apologise for the shoddy treatment we had received. I would avoid this sorry excuse for a restaurant and go to Ascoughs.

Dog friendly pub, great place to eat, food is absolutely amazing and the atmosphere is great friendly staff and customers. Food is outstanding the chef is the heart of the pub! Also has a dog groomer for your pooches on site so you can get a drink and food whilst you wait for your dog to be groomed. Can strongly recommend!

My daughter Lucy and her new husband Chris were married there. I cannot fault the service and food it was fantastic and we were blessed with the weather. The staff go that bit further which is a credit to the venue, a particular thank you to Jo and Dan. The food and drinks were also of a high standard and well priced.

Nicely decorated pub, had live musician on singing who was great, staff worked hard, only downside was , a group of individuals in , one was very loud and abusive to staff members, sad the staff had to put up with this behaviour. Would have given it 5 stars if not for that.

Great pub garden and a lovely interior. We have eaten before and this is a great pub. The weather was gorgeous and everyone was sitting in the amazing garden, what a lovely atmosphere.

Food was excellent we had chicken,the. Roast beef and it was lovely we spoke to the sous chef Corey and the assistant Charlie and they were very charming and humble. They were so friendly and welcoming and explained how fresh the food was and it was an amazing experience. Even the restaurant staff was excellent so kind and very understanding. Sunday dinner heaven :-) Had the sharer platter which was massive!! Not only was the quantity huge, the quality matched it. We had our dog with us, and they asked if he’d like some meat. They brought out a huge helping of beef off cuts which he loved. We couldn’t finish it all and they kindly put it in boxes to take home. Also lovely setting, great service and nice setting. Must visit and will be back.

We went for drinks and food as a group of five, and had a fabulous evening. We started off with some drinks in the bar area which is comfortable and well decorated. We moved through to the restaurant for a meal and everything we had was absolutely delicious. I had the slow cooked belly pork and it was fall apart amazing. After eating, we went back to the bar for some cocktails including one of the specials which is an after eight espresso martini which was amazing. We got chatting to the staff and both the bar staff and restaurants staff were friendly and engaging. I’d absolutely recommend this place, for a drink or food or both, and will definitely be visiting again. Bonus - it’s dog friendly!!

Bar stylish but cold. Restaurant ~ very cold too, no allergy check, very slow service, staff not attentive or very friendly, Sunday lunch cold, hardly any veg - gravy not optional, no coffee available - definitely not value for money !

I had wanted to visit here for some time. We dined here on a Friday evening and drinks were great although my first choice of cocktail was unavailable. The duck risotto was enjoyable but the specifically mentioned babycorn was absent and no mention made to point this out. Two of us shared the steak from the specials board (tomahawk surf and turf), which sounded amazing for £65, however the steak was difficult to eat. The dinner was served on a wooden board and presentation was good with salad, wedges, steak, prawns and a lobster tail. Individually we were given a small side plate which was too small for this kind of meal. A dinner plate would have been much more appropriate. After several unsuccessful attempts to slice off the meat, we requested a steak knife. After a few minutes of the waitress searching, she produced a couple of slightly sharper knifes. The steak itself was disappointing and not tender. Cooked as requested, but meat was tough and chewy. We enjoyed the cheesecake for dessert. Staff were friendly and attentive. Unlikely we will return for a meal, but might call in for a bar drink.

The Oathill is one of my fave pubs. I love the food (esp the roast!) love the cocktails and it’s dog friendly. We came on Saturday for an afternoon tea for a birthday and it was delicious, and so much for the price point! (I also forgot to pre-advise of a vegetarian 🙈 and that was catered for no problem on the day.) We were really looked after, thank you.

Poor service very slow - not enough veg on the roast dinner and £9.95 for cauli flower and panchetta 🤬bread and butter pudding was a disappointment more like bread pudding lost our custom won't be back plenty of others do much better

A great place with a particularly nice garden. Some live events are put on in the garden too, but are of quite varying quality. A surprising inability to publicise events on their website, for some reason.

Nice friendly pub and staff.... unfortunately food was terrible, the vegetable fish and chops was possibly worst iv ever had. Staff were really apologetic and We did get money off the bill, but overall very disappointing

50% of the food choices were unavailable. Service was extremely slow. The food was pretty dry and lacklustre. This was our first visit here and our last.

Our arrival should’ve prepared us for the worse!! Table booked for 3pm with confirmation email, payment of £100/head and menu choice made in advance. We arrived early for pre-dinner drinks to no real formal check-in, when we were told we had booked for 12.30. At 4pm, following many chases, we were finally seated at a table in the bar, by the gents toilet. In summary, very slow and ad hoc service, food very average and apologetic staff - at 7pm we decided to take the cheese course home as service was so slow and the sweet treats to finish were not petit four as expected but a saucer of cadburys “celebrations”!

Went for Christmas Day lunch.Previous two years superb.This year terrible.We were seated in a cold draughty bar not the restaurant,food was at best average, service was shambolic.The staff tried hard to rectify the problems but I suspect they had massively overcommited.The cost was £100 a head and this was nowhere near good enough.

Came for Sunday lunch with 7 family members today. Three of us ordered the nut roast…and it wasn’t a nut roast?? It was rice with raisins, pumpkin seeds and peppers (no nuts) in the shape of a nut roast. None of us ate it, it wasn’t very nice and not what was described on the menu. None of the staff members asked why nobody ate it! So we all paid almost £20 for three potatoes, one parsnip and two chunks of carrot each. They had no alternative milk for the two of us who can’t have dairy. The doors were propped open for staff ease of access so it was freezing and we were eating in our coats (food which went cold because of the draft!). Only giving two stars because the mulled wine was nice and my family who had turkey and pork belly enjoyed their meals.

Last minute choice for Sunday lunch, neither have been before, and wow it was amazing. The staff we lovely and friendly. We both had the beef which was perfect, tender and plenty of it. There was lots of different veg and the yorkies were large and crispy. Will definitely be back, I have my eye on the pork belly next!

We had a delicious Sunday roast which was beautifully presented and served with plenty of vegetables. Recommend the turkey and sausage meat stuffing. Yummy. Attentive friendly service too.

It took an hour for our starters to arrive followed by a further long wait for the main courses. Veggie gravy turned up as the main courses had been eaten. No apologies or explanations for the delays. Also freezing cold in the room we were in. Shame because the food when it came was nice.

Fantastic place they were so good to the dogs, Food was excellent too and plenty of it I would highly recommend.

Not up to usual standard we have not been for a while as the cost of everything makes going out a treat, but as it was my son's Birthday we decided to go for Sunday lunch. We were disappointed with the quality of the food my beef was tough and we sent back the cauliflower cheese because it was burnt. Wonder if they have a different chef because the standards have dropped considerably since the last time we visited.

First time here and quite impressed. Its bigger than it looks from the outside. The food was good and the waitress was excellent, kept us informed throughout and nothing was too much trouble. Nice little outdoor area which reminded me of a Spanish taverna...

We've eaten here a few times & it has a lovely outside garden, however, it has disimproved, ordered a prawn chilli & garlic sandwich which was meant to be on white bloomer, it arrived as toasted but burnt, not charred but black, no taste of chilli or garlic at all, shame as we won't go back now.

I’d been here a few years ago and revisited based on enjoying the food etc last time. I was really disappointed. We were a large group that had booked for a special occasion. I didn’t notify the team when I booked because I didn’t think I needed to. We waited over half an hour later than our booking to be seating which I appreciate on a busy day can happen but then we could’ve had our food order taken so we were served quicker when we did get to our table. The food was nice enough but the prices seem to have gone up a lot with some of the starters costing as much as a main meal. The website quotes on how good their service is but unfortunately we didn’t feel this. No one came to see about drinks. Our table was covered in glasses for service all which were in the way and my partner ended up clearing them to make way for our food. Food wait was long and a few things had run out by the time our order was taken. It was extremely disappointing as we had gone for a special occasion. I assumed I didn’t need to say this when booking to be able to get even a basic level of service. It is a nice place and I did enjoy my previous visits however I’m unlikely to go again.

I live in Spain and was craving a roast real badly. Just had the pork belly Sunday roast and oh my god it was sooooo good😍. It made my day. Service was great as well and the waitress was super nice. I tasted the beef roast and it was also incredible.

Had a 30th birthday party in the garden and it was great! Chris and his team were friendly and so helpful and worked hard to give everyone a truly lovely time ! Thanks also to the chef who melted away at the bbq and served up delicious food ! Thanks all xx

Went with my sister for something to eat on a Sunday afternoon. The place is a nice traditional pub with seating indoors and out. Toilets were clean. We both chose the beef roast, my sister liked it more rare and myself more medium. The food was absolutely fantastic. Every item well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The beef serving was generous. Every bite was tasty - the carrots, the potatoes, the green veg. The food was served nice and warm, perfect temperature. The girl serving was very pleasant and helpful as well as the chap serving the food and both came round asking whether we wanted more gravy. Great food, great location, great service. Well done.

In March we booked the Oat Hill for our 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration. The venue was in a private area at the bottom of the garden, a marquee with canopied area for dancing and our own private bar. Almost a secret garden. From start to finish attention to detail was brilliant and Chris (the Boss) bent over backwards to accommodate our requests. The Marquee was decorated so prettily. Our main concern having it in the garden was the weather but contingencies were put into place in case of it being cold or wet. Nothing was to much for the team. We were given many compliments by our guests of the courteous and friendly manner they had. Thanks go to the Chef Jo... the food was faultless, with creativity, all guests requiremrnts were catered for. Huge thanks to Shannon and Georgia who managed to keep me calm and again nothing was too much for them. We found the perfect place to have our celebration.

Ok, but food didnt match the price

We arrived a little late for my 60th Birthday lunch with my wife and 9 year old daughter. Instantly they said no problem and would we like to order our drinks and sit in the lovely bar area and look at the menus which we gladly did. We went through to the restaurant and I have to say the lunch was excellent. Lovely starters, beef and gammon roasts were amazing. I was then treated to a Birthday dessert and a Stein of Lager! I can not recommend the OatHill enough as the food and the service/friendliness of the staff especially was fantastic.

Had no food. Not even crisps or nuts. Seating and decor make it a difficult place to relax in. Pretty pricey. Sadly soulless.

We had high expectations after seeing the food on Instagram. The menu was a good choice of Sunday roasts and a few pasta options.3 of us had a starter of pil pil prawns. There was no garlic or chilli. The 5 prawns were served in what can only be described as a tomato passata sauce which was disappointing. For mains 2 had the roast beef. 1 had belly pork and the other chicken and chorizo pasta. When it arrived the pasta dish was cold cold. That went straight back. The roast dinners were warm at best. Very overpriced at starters £10 and roasts and pasta £19. We travelled 45 minutes to this place and will not be returning. We are travelling the Leicestershire area in search of the best Sunday roast.This most certainly wasn’t it, 👎🏾 At best a 5/10👎🏾

Found a local pub no booking required whilst I dropped my son to a two hour kids party near by, they were able to accommodate my dog and also without asking also gave him some food without charge! The food was amazing and service great also the local bones lager offered as something different was well with it.

What a disappointing experience, we had booked a table of 4 for 1.30 pm for Sunday lunch. On entering the building first impressions were not good as it looked very tired and ropy. We were shown to our table and ordered our drinks, which all arrived at different times, where one arrived after others nearly finished theirs! We had ordered 3 gambas pill pill starters which when arrived, it was nothing like what was described on the menu. It seemed like 5 prawns on a hot plate of pasta sauce and tasted very poor. Three of us ordered a roast and one pasta dish, when arrived all the dishes were not piping hot and unfortunately the pasta dish had to be sent back. My pork belly should have come with shards of scratchings but nothing there. The only good thing was the gravy, witch saved the meat. I had to pay £2 extra for a flat and tasteless Yorkshire pudding when the dish was at a price of £17.95 which is quite a lot for a roast. The veg on the plate were very undercooked for my liking, even tho I like my veg with a crunch. I hope this review will help the chef to improve. Unfortunately we will not be going back.

Went on a Friday night, around 19.30, the restraunt is small and we were shown to our table inthe corner of the room. There were two other couples in the room, the lighting in the room was a little dark, so much so that my partner had to use the light on her phone to look at the menu. We were approached by the waiter to tell us that unfortunately there were a few items not available on the menu but there were also a few specials. He came back to take our drinks order, but once again there were some of the items on the drinks menu that were unavailable. We eventually order a drink, and began to order our food . As my first choice was unavailable ( moules marinare ) I plumped for thr mini mare, a fresh sea food selection another member of the party had asked a question about the chilli special. Another menber of staff came out to advise us the the chilli was infact a starter and was chilli arancini, so the menus had to come out again. 2mins later the staff member comes out again to tell me the mini mare has to be ordered in advance, asked where it says it has to be ordered in advance, he just replied, " on the menu" , well i couldn't see it, but hey ho. I ordered the steak an mushroom linguine. My wife ordered her customary steak, well done of course. The food arrived in good time, i also had the starter of oriental calamari, while tasty, the calamari wes a bit chewy, but hunger got the best of me and I finished the dish. The mains arrived, again in good time, but my portion of steak and mushroom linguine was, for the price a little meagre . My wifes steak while just about cooked well done, was over seared with a slightly acrid taste and alot of chewy central fat. So all in all not a good meal and for the price i expected alot better ☹️

We loved it here. The beer, wine and food were fabulous. Lovely décor and brilliant staff who were friendly helpful and fun. They do movie nights, how fantastic is that. If you haven't been you should really try and go, this isn't just a great place to eat and have a few drinks this is what a pub should be. Thanks so much for a great time.

Great pub with a good atmosphere. I've never eaten there but I'm told the food is pretty good.

I’m vegan and my daughter is vegetarian so felt reassured by the menus available on their website & the fact that they advertise both vegan & vegetarian options. However, no vegan options on the menu & upon request only 1 option available - burger. It was pleasant enough but no plant based cheese or mayo or mushrooms so a bit basic and seemed more like an afterthought. Come on it’s 2023 & we need a more sustainable diet! This lack of inspiration will never inspire the carnivores. What was more surprising was only 1 vegetarian main & it was garlic bread which I view as a side rather than a meal in itself. On the positive side, ambience was nice but we were only table for a short while before only one other party arrived so a little quiet. The service was attentive & very welcoming. They made an amazing mock tail with dry ice which was magical. Food overall was average. Fish n chips x 3 (strange, dry peas) & not enough tartar sauce. Boring french fries with burgers (both vegan & non). Although my daughter did enjoy her sausage, mash, normal peas & gravy. Would I return? No - sorry. Too many places serving far better food.

I have booked (well in advance) a table in the restaurant for 15 people for a dinner after my daughter First Holly communion. I was told there is a wedding on that day but if we arrive at 3:30pm it will be ready for us. On arrival we were allocated in the pub, by the bar and door to go to the smoking area and toilets! Not ideal for celebration with children under age of 8 and family members who travel all the way from different countries! When we complain, we were told the wedding is not finished and there is nothing they can do… After nearly an hour of phone calls to try to find alternative solutions we managed to book Waterfront. I wish to book this instead at the beginning! Staff at Oat Hill was not helpful at all and not apologetic after ruining family celebrations!

Really not a good meal. Friend ordered gammon & they informed us they had no eggs! Sorry but what restaurant runs out of eggs. Pinot Grigio wine was lowest quality I have ever tasted, couldn’t drink it, changed for savingon blanc which wasn’t much better. Would not recommend. We’re easy going & understand it’s a busy time of year but they need to ensure they have the basic ingredients at least. 2/10

Great place for lunch, sandwiches were on another level. The dogs loved the chef when she came out personally to give them some chicken, great little touch.

Visited the oathill for the first time and did not disappoint. Staff were so welcoming and friendly, food was hot, fresh and delicious! I attended the Harry Potter event and it was a fantastic night. The whole event was so well thought out with such great attention to detail. There were 7 courses and each and every one of them was absolutely delicious!

Recently spent an evening here to experience a Harry Potter themed dinner. I personally have never had a better dinner experience than this! From the 1st course all the way through to the 7th I was amazed at not only the presentation of the meals...

Amazing Harry Potter themed event! Delicious 7 course meal, and 7 themed cocktails to go along with it. Decorations were fab, as were the live owls!! Will definitely be returning for the next one :)

Waited over 30mins to place the order then main meals not available one of the starters was not cooked leaving raw mushrooms all in all this is a poor place with poor staff will not be back over priced rubbish

Food and service we're fine but we were not warned at the time of booking that there was going to be karaoke in the bar. It was loud and mostly tuneless which rather prevented conversation. We won't be going back.

We moved to Market Harborough 8 years ago and have used "The OatHill" as our local. A most delightful interior plus dining room with an extensive outside area. ALL staff are friendly and attentive and the manager, very professional and approachable. We have eaten here many times and the food NEVER disappoints. For several years we have celebrated Christmas at "The OatHill" and it has been absolutely fabulous! Would HIGHLY recommend a visit if you have never been!

Service was great and attentive, food was over priced and restricted, we were there for a light lunch but only full meals were available , would have been nice to have offered a light lunch selection , but the service was great and the garden was delightful.

Held a baby shower here in the vinery, the food provided was excellent, and the staff were very helpful and friendly, would highly recommend.

Really excellent service , all staff were friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Food really good too. We ate outside in the garden which is well maintained and a pleasant place to sit. We had our whippet with us and she was immediately offered a bowl of water which we appreciated. Definitely recommend
