My sister Always get her chinese from here. The other night Saturday 20th they spent over £40+on food for the family. It was terrible after eating it made them all feel sick, and infact my sister who has late stage cancer was actually sick. She said this is the second time the food has not been up to standard. It brought straight back to serve but was also cold

I Love my chinese food but no restaurant or take away hits the same as this one. minimum 5 years eating from this place and i would not fault it once

A suggestion is on weekends they should have more staff to answer the phone. I feel the food quality is slipping especially when here priced very high. Chips felt like they was reheated not impressed

I tried this Chinese for the first time last night and I was impressed! Originally I wanted delivery however the guy on the phone told me they don’t deliver so I went to collect. Collection was very quick and easy. The portions were great and price was very reasonable! Crispy shredded beef had a great crunch and the sweet and sour was one of the best I’ve ever had. Personally I would have preferred the salt and chilli ribs spicier but that’s just personal preference. 1 missing star as food could have been slightly hotter as I only had a 12 minute drive and the food was only warm once I got home Overall the food was great and price is very reasonable! I’ll definitely be ordering from here again

A dish I usually have from my local (out of the area) wasn't on the menu, so I asked and they asked for enough detail to recreate the dish I love! How's that for service?! Super friendly, great price and tasty tasty!! Chicken was melt in the mouth ...fantastic!

On the positive side, the staff were very friendly, and the portions were generous. We ordered prawns and cashews, prawns in black bean sauce, chicken chow mein, egg fried rice with curry sauce, and got some prawn crackers thrown into the deal. The prawn dishes had lovely juicy prawns and big cashew nuts, but all of the dishes, apart from the curry sauce, lacked any flavour, such as garlic, ginger, or soy sauce. The chow mein was dry, and was only saved by the curry sauce.

Chanced this chinese takeaway. So glad we did, food delicious, very good value for money. Catered for my allergies. If you're in the area give them a try. Highly recommend this place.

Great quality, but Singapore chowmein not quite as tasty as it’s always been… also I’d like if the salt and chilli chips were a lot more tasty, maybe fried with all the chilli instead just sprinkled on top. Other than that the best in town.

Very nice Chinese, no delivery, takeaway only but you can phone and order ahead. There is room to park outside or very near by. A very good selection on the menu. Excellent food and generous portions.

Had for first time last night. The food from here is by far the best chinese food in the area. We collected and drove back home 15 minutes and the food was still piping hot, fresh tasting and very delicious. Top job to the people working there. See you again soon to fill my belly.

Never disappointed. Salt and spicy ribs top choice. Long wait to get through on phone sometimes, but that is only because it is rightly so popular.

I cannot rate Mills street Chinese enough. Food is tasty and always nice and hot. You are welcomed with a very friendly order taker when you call up.

Food was great and the service was lovely

I asked if they could do a Szechuan beef. I got spicy sweet and sour crispy shredded beef. I could forgive the sauce (was surprisingly nice), but not the beef. My visiting mother had Beef Chow Mein and Chicken Balls with Sweet and Sour sauce. Her opinion was it had no flavour to it. I hate to post such a negative review but it should be said.

This is a take-away only restaurant which I have used for many years and the food standard has been consistently high. They have had the odd glitch in the distant past but I haven't experienced one for a number of years.The sauces are rich and thick, the meat/veg plentiful, and they will cater for allergies where possible. Sauces are tasty even without adding msg and they are happy to exclude this on request.

I ordered food last night, 1/4 Aromatic duck and Singapore fried rice. Absolutely nothing wrong with the duck and it tasted quite nice. However, I was truly disgusted when I found rotten shrimp/prawns in my Singapore fried rice. Unknowingly when I bit into the shrimps/prawns I had horrible smell infused into my mouth which made me throw up. I have been eating Chinese cuisine for a while and I know what prawns should taste like. I am truly disappointed that your take away is willing to put peoples’ health at risk to turn a quick profit. This is probably my first ever review, it must have been that bad/serious!!!

Visiting my parents this weekend and we decided to have a Chinese takeaway.My parents said this is meant to be a good one.....However.......Once the 7 of use paid just over £55 and waited over 45mins for it I have to say a Chinese takeaway from Tesco would have been better.All of us completely disappointed with the food when we got home as there is no delivery service from them.A waist of money and definitely wouldn’t recommend or return to this place again

we have take away from here at least once a fortnight!And have been coming here since it opened.the food is brilliant.we have had take aways from various places whilst been on holidays,but nowhere compares to the food here.The hot and salty ribs are devine!!Mrs Chan is great and her son on the front desk taking the orders now is very efficient and organised.

Good well prepared take away with cheerful service. All the usual favourite take away dishes without any many modern and unusual dishes. The portions are usually large so do not over order. The crispy pancake roll is really and one of best. Avoid the combo special dishes at front end of menu but anything else is very good.

Take away only and you have to pick upFood was ok as we were really hungry we ate it all up but i will try elsewhere before going back as the sauces are on the verge of being gloopy. we had a beef with mushroom as one of the dishes and if i closed my eyes i would have thought i was eating beef casserole - tasty but not quite chinesey

Lovely Chinese takeaway here, we were staying near oakham and fancied a bite to eat, rang up and ordered a set meal for 2. Was very surprised that it was ready in 15 minutes and extremely hot, there was loads of food for the 2 of us. Very well good with lovely flavours. The man behind the desk was very pleasant and the meal only cost around 24 or 26 pounds for the 2 of us very reasonable for what was on offer. Shall be visiting again on our next trip to Oakham!

We have now been to the Oakham Chinese on Mill Street Oakham for the second time (04/08/18) while stopping in the Oakham area. Once again we had a wonderful meal, everything was cooked well and very tasty, the chicken tasted and felt like chicken. Whereas some restaurants give you, what’s classed as a poor excuse for chicken.The starter was superb, Curry Samosa’s, my wife had a Chicken Curry and I had Szechuan Chicken ( not sure of the spelling). The rice comes in Small, Regular and Large. The large rice is more than enough for two.I would recommend that if you want to order your take away, you ring up first rather than just turn up, as on busy nights you could have a long wait for your order, I rang up at 5pm and ordered our take away pickup at 6:30. In and out at with no wait.Another brilliant meal, look forward to when we can go again.

Obviously hugely popular with locals. Rang order through was told an hour wait and went to pick up and waited another 30 mins. Wouldn’t mind the wait if when you went to pick up it was actually ready. Granted it was a Saturday night. It seems this is the usual for them as lots of others who seemed to have been waiting a long time. Food pretty average - ordered satay prawn and the dish most definitely not satay but a gloopy thick strange tasting sauce. Couldn’t be bothered to take back given how long wait was. So much advice, order way in advance and expect a wait when you go to collect tho on a week night may be quieter.

Really fabulous food - best Chinese food we’ve had for a long time ! The only down side was being made to feel bad for paying by card ! We rarely use cash these days ! However it was worth it as it was delicious .

This is without dought the best Chinese take a way in the area, The food is always hot & has great taste & texture & if your not sure what you want they will ask you what you like in food [Tasty / Spicy / something new ].They will cater to your taste buds { trust their judgement and you will be well pleased }

This is without doubt the best Chinese cuisine in oakham. The front man Kevin is a delight and almost worth the visit in its self. We usevthus takeaway on a regular basis and up to now have only praise for the establishment. On Saturday 9th the place was heaving. The waiting time for a meal was an hour. This is no problem if you phone the order in. Tonight the pressure told. When we got our food home we found we had been given spring rolls as Opposed to duck. We asked for duck in plum sauce and was given pineapple. The rice was very lumpy. Hopefully this is a one off and it will return to the excellent service it normally supplies.

Opens at five, and five minutes from Barnsdale country club where we are staying. A very large menu, from which to easily find something to enjoy, at a reasonable price.

Quite an intimate restaurant where the service was very good and so was the food. We had a variety of dishes and each one was tasty and well presented.

We called in for a quick lunch and had two courses for £7.50. Good choice of starter and main courses. Third course is a tea or coffee. Served promptly and of good quality. Recommended

I come here about once a month and can say the food is always fresh and hot and very tasty. The service is second to none, the lady that serves me always calls me by my name which is nice. I have never had cause to complain. I would certainly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Went on a saturday night and the place was heaving and the phone never stopped ringing. We were told our order would be an hour but it turned out to be about 80 minutes. Having said that, the food was fine and it's obviously popular with the locals

Been using this place for years and I've never been disappointed. It's quite popular, so it's best to phone in your order to avoid a wait. Very comprehensive menu and the food is freshly prepared to a high standard. The portion sizes are good, as are the prices, and the owner is a pleasant, affable character. What more do you want?

I've been using the Mill St Chinese Takeaway for many years, perhaps a dozen times or so per year, and I've never once been disappointed. The owner is a cheerful, polite and very efficient guy; the waiting area is a little spartan, but it's spotless. I always place a telephone order; the estimate is usually 20 minutes to 30 minutes. I've never had to wait on arrival, and I've never had a mistake with my order. The food is freshly and expertly cooked; the prices are reasonable, the menu extensive and the portions generous. I don't much like the TripAdvisor category of "Cheap Eats", since this seems a little perjorative, and I'd like to say "Good Reasonably-priced Food"
