We came here for dinner as our friends recommended it. We booked in advance and it was the right choice. The atmosphere is romantic and cozy. Lily was a really good waitress, very polite and attentive. We went for the a la cart menu and got 5 dishes to share between 2. The arancini were my favourite. The focaccia was out of this world. It was more than enough. We unfortunately couldn’t fit the desserts but they looked amazing.

We had an incredible evening at Oak for my partner's birthday. The five course feast and wine pairing was a very reasonable price for such an amazing fine dining experience in a relaxed but beautiful environment. The staff were all friendly, knowledgeable and attentive and the food was divine! Our favourites were the pumpkin soup, the pumpkin in ajo blanco, the ricotta ravioli, the focaccia. We love the focus on sustainable seasonal produce here and cannot wait to come back in a new season to try another delicious tasting menu.

TLDR: Really enjoyed the food. Worth every penny, service excellent. I went for the Oak Five Course Feast with Wine Pairing. The server explained the menu before hand and when every dish was served including a very eloquent and informative description of the matching wine. The highlight the was mezze type selection of dishes in the middle which were all fresh and very tasty. The potato terrine main great top with excellent texture and flavour. The restaurant atmosphere and design had a nice balance of quirky and interesting but very professional at the same time. There are many other plant based restaurants I've been to in the last 12 months in the UK which could learn something about hospitality and creative and delicious food from Oak in Bath. Very nice indeed, i look forward to coming again and trying something different

Having been a lifetime vegetarian, I’ve always loved Oak and have highly recommended the place to others. My last visit for the 5 course menu and wine flight was very rushed, couldn’t eat the food or drink the wine quick enough for them. It wouldn’t have been so bad if table was booked last minute, but the booking was made in good time. This was the first time we thought it wasn’t worth the money. Won’t be rushing back anytime soon.

Would like to preface this review with a few details: the staff were great and compensated us appropriately. The atmosphere was nice. I am hoping we caught the restaurant on a bad day. Now for the review: how disappointing. We booked to dine at Oak based on previous reviews and were really excited for our first meal out as newlyweds. Based on photos we’d seen from reviews, it looked great, however, those dishes were nowhere to be seen on our visit. We opted for the ‘feast menu’ which is essentially the same as the tapas menu, just in a set menu form. The food was so far beyond average at every level. The food lacked any seasoning, creativity or flavour. The soup was a bowl of watery carrot, the grilled cucumber was exactly as it sounds, and the chard and chickpea dish was inedible - you couldn’t even cut a knife through it, never mind chew it. The accompanying ‘sauces/purées’ were duplicated on multiple dishes, leaving every dish to feel exactly the same. The focaccia was an insult to Italy - I’m actually offended on behalf of the country. The wine, although nice to advocate for natural and organic options, was some of the most average natural wines we have ever sampled. Nothing special. I really wanted to love this place. We understood the ethos, however, this should not be a substitute for quality. And if you’re going to champion local/no waste/vegan products, be bold with your messaging. Altogether, we left feeling deflated, disappointed and actually a bit embarrassed that we had to tell the poor waitress how bad the experience was. Do better or don’t bother.

We had an amazing time at Oak. To start with, the decor perfectly encapsulates what they’re trying to do, with a kind of rustic homestead vibe with a hint of modernity. This is matched with the great energy of our server Ella who was informative and clearly cared about the customer experience. This wouldn’t mean much if the food itself wasn’t up to the same standard, but it goes beyond. Absolutely delicious. The mix of vegan dishes somehow felt complex and simple simultaneously. We didn’t have a weak plate, and the focaccia that came with the hummus was probably the best I’ve ever had. Would absolutely recommend to anyone visiting Bath and as a meat eater, I still think this is better than anything else you’re likely to eat in the city. The menu is all veggie but 90% of the dishes can be made vegan at request (which is what we did)

What draw me to this restaurant was the pictures I saw online which show similar dishes to fine dining establishments. Sadly, this is far from what we experienced. Don’t believe all you see online! OAK is a normal restaurant somewhat pretentious that tries to imitate fine dining but unfortunately falls short by a mile in every aspect. Overall, very misleading experience. In terms of the food, every single dish was super oily and greasy. I think I’ve suffered vegetable oil indigestion for the first time in my life! I know oil is a plant based ingredient but it was a dominant flavour throughout the entire menu: from the starters (olives and almonds) all the way to dessert (chocolate ganache with olive oil). And unfortunately, the flavour profile of the dishes was bland too... Disappointing experience because they advertise something to what you get.

So disappointed with our evening at Oak. I booked three weeks ago on a recommendation so we were really looking forward to it. It got off to a bad start when we were ushered through the pleasant looking upstairs dining area, down the back stairs into a rather dingy downstairs room with just four tables and we sat at a small table right beside the kitchen door. We then waited twenty five minutes for them to bring a carafe of white wine which was really disappointing. Meanwhile there was lots of scurrying to and from the kitchen with dishes to be served and dirty plates coming back for washing! While we waited we tried to use the internet as there were a few unusual things from the menu but downstairs in the basement there was no 4G signal and they don't have wifi!!! So anyone with a need to keep in touch with babysitters, relatives or any contact with the outside world beware! Apart from the spicy almonds which were great, we were disappointed with the food when it came. A flatbread with sliced potato on it, a risotto with lots of melted cheese but not much rice, a gnocchi with a too creamy sauce for our liking. The best of our four plates was a panisse which was one of the items we had wanted to look up! If you don't know what it is then look it up before you come! We only have two nights in Bath and with so many nice sounding restaurants it felt like a wasted evening. There are plenty of good reviews so if you plan on going and the food sounds like your thing then just ask them to seat you upstairs when you make a reservation.

OAK in Bath offers a charming dining spot in a bustling part of the city, presenting an opportunity to explore unique vegetarian options that stand out from the typical dining scene. Intrigued by their vegetarian menu and drawing inspiration from memorable experiences at places like Mallow in London, our expectations were set high as we stepped into OAK. We dove into the garden salad, hummus, fennel, and gnocchi dishes with anticipation. The garden salad, unfortunately, fell short of our expectations, comprising mostly green leaves and a simple vinaigrette. We had hoped for a more vibrant mix including tomatoes and feta, leaving us disappointed. The hummus, accompanied by delectable bread, was a highlight with its well-flavored and spiced texture that harmonized perfectly with the bread, providing a delightful experience with each bite. Moving on to the fennel, ajo blanco, and walnuts, I personally found the flavors to be lacking depth, while my wife seemed to appreciate the dish more, indicating a difference in preferences. Lastly, the gnocchi with pine nut chard intrigued us with its texture, offering a blend of crunchy and buttery softness that was enjoyable to savor. However, it also left me yearning for a bit more complexity in terms of flavor profiles. Although OAK presents an interesting array of menu items that promise culinary excitement, it does fall short in terms of depth of flavors compared to other vegetarian establishments. Despite this, OAK remains an inviting place to try something different and explore a creative approach to vegetarian cuisine, making it a worthwhile stop for those seeking unique dining experiences.

Great little restaurant with a cosy, intimate vibe. Ideal setting for romantic dates with a special someone or a quiet evening with close friends. That being said I dined here last night with my cousin, his wife and their two kids and things did get a bit chaotic at times, with the 1.5 year old especially. However, the staff were wonderful, as were the other diners. Turning to the food. I had the chickpea panisse, the potato flatbread and the grilled asparagus. All were delicious. I also had liberal helpings of the risotto which my co-diners ordered. Now, I’m not normally a risotto guy. In fact, I despise it because of PTSD from 20 years ago when it was the only vegetarian option on menus in this country. But let me tell you, this risotto was magnificent. Creamy, decadent, yet light and fresh, and perfectly cooked and oh so flavourful. I highly recommend this if you find it on the menu. The chef is an actual artist. I see some reviews quibbling about the size of the portions. Get a life. If you want large portions go to pizza hut. I also see some reviews commenting on prices being high. Yes, this place isn’t cheap, but its worth it. In summary, a lovely place with beautiful ambience, charming waitresses and great vegetarian food. A rare find. Enjoy.

The atmosphere is nice, the food is fantastic, but the portions are inadequate for the high prices. Portions twice as large or half the price each would be ok. There are virtually no main courses, just vegetarian tapas and you need at least 4-5 to fill you up and then, despite the simple vegetarian ingredients, you quickly reach £60 per person. There is also a service charge of 12.5%, which is rather unusual outside of London. We also only wanted one menu and a little a la carte or to share a menu, both were rejected without explanation. There are also hardly any carbohydrates/filling side dishes, and some so-called main courses even contain none at all. We had our most expensive meal in several weeks of vacation in England and for the first time we didn't get full and had to eat chips and nuts with raisins in the guesthouse.

i tried the lunch menu and all 3 dishes were good. overall, loved the unique recipes based on local seasonal produce, but the portion is a bit too small for the main. service wise, i didn’t like how they charged a flat 12.5% fee while the staff couldn’t tell me what the sauce in the salad is made out of even though it literally says on the menu. prolly won’t come back even though it was a good experience. detailed review on the 3 dishes: - asparagus and spinach soup: creamy when you first taste it but you get the more water-like texture later on. the spice and saltiness also give it a nice kick but not overwhelming. - rhubarb and chicory: you can taste the ingredients flavors very distinctly: chicory’s sweetness, the smoked almond butter’s acidity, the almonds earthiness and pickled rhubarbs cripsy. - potato, mushroom and caramelized cauliflower: other than the smoked mushroom being too acidic, the other two were terrific. i didn’t know one can make potatoes so full of its original flavors and nuaced. the cauliflower was also a surprise.

I came here with my girlfriend and I had so wanted this to be great, but the cost of the dishes compared to the portion of foods was dreadful value for money. The chicory salad was very disappointing, the risotto balls were tiny albeit tasty, and the Jerusalem artichokes (which were undeniably exceptional) were just too few. If you have lots of money to spend then go for it - you'll spend lots on these small plates, but 40 odd quid for 3 tiny portions and two drinks, plus a service charge for bare-minimum service is just ridiculous. Food is not good or large enough to warrant the price and relies on pretentious instagrammability. The rhubarb cordial was undrinkable. We left hungry and annoyed.

The downstairs is cramped and cold, in between the noisy kitchen and busy bathroom, and silent. There's no music. The lighting and decor didn't match the romantic and beautiful vibe of the main (upstairs) dining areas. The food was very oily and buttery--from the bread and salad, to the risotto and pastas. My favorite part was the wine--a fantastic natural wine that really hit the spot. I also liked the housemade pickles. As a vegetarian I was incredibly excited for this premium, plant-based dining experience but I'm sad to say that I left very disappointed by the service, atmosphere, and food.

We had gone to Oak for dinner and had ordered two dishes: 1)Hummus, Hodmedods chickpeas, harissa, chard and 2)Charlotte potato, thyme and Old Winchester flatbread. The Pros: 1) Quaint and charming ambiance. 2) The staff very sweet and helpful. 3) The Hummus dish tasted very nice and the bread was fresh. 4) The service was quick. The Cons: 1) The portion size was nearly like a tapa's portion size. So we need to order more dishes. 3) The Charlotte Potato dish tasted bland. 4) The price on the higher side considering the portion size. 5) The bathroom was tiny, so it was a little difficult to manoeuvre. Thank You for the food and 10/10 on the staff.

The food here is excellent, a real special occasion meal. Everything we ate was great, special shout-out to the sourdough ice cream. Most stuff is vegan (with only a couple of options that can't be made vegan). Great place if you dont eat meat but would also recommend if you do, people next to us ate meat and said it was the best food they'd eaten in bath. It's great here, the wine is nice and the staff were lovely. Came on a Sunday and it was quiet (given it was raining and bath was dead in the evening) yet it felt nice and comforting in there. Had a lovely time and would definitely recommend. It's pricey-ish but we ordered a lot of food and wine so was pretty happy with the price all things considered

We treated ourselves to the tasting menu with accompanying wines and it was perfect. One of the best meals we have had in ages. Service is very good: professional and friendly. Lovely decor too. It's a small space so, I recommend booking in advance.

Absolutely fantastic. We came in for lunch after walking past and smelling the amazing food cooking in the kitchen. We were in a lovely corner snug at the back and were really intrigued by the menu. We had Jerusalem artichokes which were crispy skins filled with purée and an ajo blanco sauce which was incredible, followed by smoked pumpkin arrancini with garlic aioli which were perfectly made: we also had some sourdough focaccia which was so good we had a second order. We finished with an apple cake with an amazing thyme ice cream and some hot drinks. We honestly could have eaten everything on the menu! Even though staff were thin on the ground they were super helpful and food came very quickly. Highly recommend to anyone.

Had a lovely all vegetarian dinner here. They catered for vegan restrictions no problem as well. Space is a bit tight, but otherwise very atmospheric with lots of candles glowing and natural decorations. Service was quick and very attentive.

Thank you Oak for a wonderful treat. We chose the Five Course Feast and loved it. Every dish was something special, perfectly prepared, tasted wonderful and was just a joy to eat. It was so nice to go out and enjoy proper, real and absolutely delicious vegan food. The wine was also delicious and the staff and service couldn’t have been better. It is expensive but you can see, feel and taste the quality and care that goes into what Oak do. Can’t wait to come back again soon.

Amazing food, I just have to dock a star. I’m a New Yorker, my standards are high. Our table wobbled and the lighting was too dark at our corner table. Those elements of the experience should be carefully attended to in order to maximize the guests’ experience. I get that this is small plates, but the ravioli came with FIVE raviolis. There wasn’t enough material on the plate to keep it warm, so yes, it was cold as well. However, the taste and texture of all these foods could rival any fancy vegetarian place in NYC. Overall a great experience, just make sure you’re prepared for how SMALL the plates actually are, and how deep your pocketbook should be in relation!

Absolutely sublime. The atmosphere was beautiful, food was faultless and you can really tell the ingredients are seasonal and fresh. Impeccable, attentive service from all of the staff. Highly recommend the aranchini and the flatbread (although every plate we tried was delicious!) We can't wait to come back soon. Thank you.

Beautiful cosy place for veggie small plates. The staff and atmosphere were so inviting and warm. The pumpkin arancini Was incredible. The artichokes were flavoured well but were a bit overcooked. Also recommend the homemade bread to start.

How nice to fing a vegetarian restaurant which did not rely on mushroom risotto, or vegeburger. The variety , quality and taste were exceptional.

Dined on a Tuesday evening and everything was perfect, from the service, food and ambiance. We chose four courses , the artichoke was unbelievable as was the daag curry. Both servers were brilliant, super helpful and friendly.

This vegetarian restaurant in the historic city centre, formerly called Acorn, has a seasonally varying, tapas-style menu, which we appreciated. We started with a portion of house bread, served with an excellent virgin olive oil, plus olives and spicy almonds, all of which were tasty. We followed with pumpkin-filled arrancini accompanied by a vegan aioli for dipping. These were heavenly. We also sampled the grilled leeks and the local beets which came with a vegan ricotta foam. Finally we were served a lightly spiced bean and veg curry, which was the only slightly sub-standard part of the meal, tasting like the sauce had burned on the stove. The décor was basic and homey and the staff friendly and exuberant. However, the website menu seemed out of date. On balance, we were well satisfied and would recommend Oak.

Fantastic vegan restaurant with so much character. It was very classy, we picked the vegan five course meal with wine pairings. Each dish was creative and the waitress gave a bit of background to each wine too. Flavours were amazing and new for me. Overall a very special night.

This was a gift voucher meal. We were totally underwhelmed by the feast on offer. Not good value with only a couple of highlights. There are better restaurants of a similar ilk within 200m. Feel a bit ripped off. The hazelnut ice cream was amazing...

It was our first time at Rosa's Thai and we are definitely coming back soon. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable and the atmosphere was very chilled, with audible but not loud music. Which is very appreciated. Emmanuel gave great service and was very helpful, friendly and courteous. Lovely place to eat, talk and relax.
