Oad Street Food and Crafts in Swale

Smaller than expected from adverts, plenty of parking and restaurant had a great menu for lunch. No bins anywhere and less craft outlets than expected for calling it a craft centre. Dogs accepted but no poo bag bins either! Can be taken to restaurant but must stay outside at tables but all were under cover.

Had a lovely belated Mother’s Day afternoon tea with my son. I had a traditional afternoon tea and he had a vegetarian one. Everything was delicious, nice savoury selection of rolls, cheese straw, quiche and sausage roll, plus scones, sweet treats and a jelly shot. Staff were friendly and place had nice decor and a large carpark. Has outdoor and indoor seating and summer domes which looked lovely.

Great breakfast spot & would recommend. Over the years I’ve been here at least 9 times; - July 2021 celebratory brunch with friends - January 2022 winter pod with friends - January 2022 afternoon tea with my Mum - March 2022 breakfast with my partner - July 2023 brunch with my partner - April 2024 summer pod with family - June 2024 summer pod with friends - March 2025 celebratory brunch with my step-mum One of the times not mentioned, we couldn’t get in because the queue was too long. For this reason, I prefer the bookable reservations such as the pods or celebratory brunch. Even on a week-day it is popular. The afternoon tea was fantastic. Everything was homemade and the portion sizes generous. We got boxes to take leftovers home in too. The dirty tots are famous in my household, with all of us jealous when others go and order them. I’ve even tried to make them at home myself but they aren’t anywhere near as good! My nan loved the summer pod so much she wanted to get one for her garden. It’s great to be able to sit together in a larger group, in a circle and be in your own little dining space. It’s somewhat on the more expensive side for breakfast, but the quality makes it feel reasonable. The service has always been good and no delays or issues with anything. Love the little gift shop and art shop - we all enjoy looking round after our meal and often come away with little bits and bobs. Clearly a 5* as I’ve come back many times and enjoyed every visit thoroughly!

A quirky idea for brunch, sitting outside in nicely decorated pods shielded from the cold. We went for the brunch board which provided very well presented and quality food of both sweet and savoury. The service from the staff was pretty normal, nothing bad or particularly great, they were nice, polite and friendly. It was a pricey experience, however the food was of a decent quality and not a let down there. You also have the option to take anything left over home with you. The two hours you have booked is more than enough time for your experience. Negatives: The only downside was the adding of a large service charge / gratuity charge on top of an already costly visit. Personally I do not agree with this form of essentially forcefully tipping, as it can make those who feel uncomfortable asking to remove it to be unfairly out of pocket. Especially as the service given was not above and beyond or equal to the experience. We don't expect to give or receive a tip in the UK, but will if it is worthy. Start to expect one and it shall be removed. All in all though, we would recommend it here but prepare for the conversation of an expected service charge.

My go-to place to meet friends for lunch. It's a little oasis in the countryside with a great menu, great service and a wonderful atmosphere!

Had a wonderful time celebrating a friend’s 50th Birthday in one of the pods on 21st Feb. The food was amazing and plentiful. Nothing was too much trouble for our server and we were grateful for her very cheerful attentiveness, I’m very sorry i didn’t get her name but she was super, thank you!

The brunch boards in the pods are so easy and relaxed. Food is always good inside the pods or out.

Had a fantastic lunch here. Some different options on the menu and I initially thought it looked a little expensive but the portions are very generous, freshly cooked and absolutely delicious. Staff were friendly, nice atmosphere, great coffee and actually I think it's good value for what you get.

I haven't visited Oad Street for quite a few years. It used to be a rather old fashioned tea room but it has been completely renovated with a very different style of menu/food selection and wonderful light, airy, modern restaurant. My friend and I had booked for an afternoon tea. The selection of sandwiches, savoury pastries and cakes / desserts was wonderfully different from a usual afternoon tea. All the food was very freshly home made. The sausage roll, mini quiches & cheese sticks were all delicious. With the sandwiches and fantastic scones, we were full before we reached the cakes! The restaurant overall has a very friendly atmosphere. The servers are so attentive and polite and offered a box to take the remaining cakes home in. We definitely will return - perhaps booking an outside pod next time!

Not much of a choice on the menu, most things had avocado mash in it. Salt beef bagel was dry and could have been toasted. The salt beef was tasteless and not very nice at all. Quite expensive £37 for two food items and two coffees. Wouldn’t go back.

The best place to brunch! There really is nowhere else locally that compares to Oad Street. Food always tastes amazing and cooked fresh. The staff are always really friendly and make us feel welcome. And the venue itself is beautiful. Looking forward to our next visit.

Visited today for breakfast withe my wife. We both orderd the cooked breakfast as everything else seems to be pulled pork. Service was really nice although £3.50 for a cream soda cordial is a bit of a joke. Anyway our breakfasts arrived consisting of a hard fried egg dry sour dough toast crispy vines on the cherry tomatoes that crumbled to dust when trying to remove and bacon that is so salty you can feel your tongue turn into a cornflake as you eat it. We ordered extra sausage each which added an additional fiver on to our bill so 50 quid lighter for basically 2 drinks and 2 disappointing fry ups.

Food and service was lovely. Would be helpful to have clarity or a system at the door for those who have booked and those who were waiting as we got caught up behind people waiting which ate in to our reservation time. We were seated by the window which was very cold.

4 adults and two children in the pod for afternoon tea yesterday. Confusion prior to us getting there as they left a message on my phone about the booking but when I rang back the answerphone was full, so I left 2 messages with Louise in the shop, and emailed but no one confirmed back to me. We got there and front of staff were unaware of our attempts to reply. Eventually sorted, but then waited for ages for drinks, having to go in to find out where they were to be told they'd had a problem! No communication to us again. Overall, expensive, and poor service but food was good.

We were disappointed, as we had heard good things about this venue. The food was good, I had the brunch and my wife, a salt beef bagel - unfortunately this was served cold. Having said the food was good, it did not justify the high cost; prices are equivalent to eating in Londons west end. The restaurant was very cold, to the point that it was uncomfortable ( staff were visibly cold, wearing company fleeces zipped up to the top, and huddling themselves to keep warm). The men’s toilet had an electric radiator, but this wasn’t working. The music was pleasant, but more suited to a lift. The car park was in poor condition, with a lot of potholes. The gift shop had very little that was of interest, mainly offering left over stock from Christmas. We were hoping to see some local craft displays, but there didn’t appear to be anything on display.

Staff were very on the ball at the beginning of our visit, our order was taken quickly but it took far too long to get our bill at the end. We were seated next to a door that was in constant use by staff taking food outside and visitors using the outside toilets and I was freezing cold. Our food clearly had nice ingredients but unfortunately was also quite cold, as if it had been sitting for quite a while before it was brought out. I would go again but I would not sit anywhere near the door at the far end of the restaurant.

First time visiting today and was not disappointed. We did have a 50 minute wait as you can not book, and was asked to wait in the gift shop which was difficult with the amount of people in there. It was cold waiting outside, we were given a buzzer and was advised not to sit in the car as it will be out of range. There was some outside seating where the igloos are but it was too cold to sit for a long amount of time. Shame there is no place to wait that's inside and warm. We were not disappointed once we were seated and the staff were very friendly. We weren't rushed and stayed for as long as we wanted, which was lovely. Food was fresh and very yummy, you could tell it was cooked fresh. We also had some side of cheesy tots, which were amazing!

Was hoping to book a pod but there were already fully booked. Had the hot chocolate with baileys and the breakfast, it was so filling and absolutely delicious! I I'll be back! Absolutely love the decor!

This was our first visit for afternoon tea. We arrived early and was seated immediately. Our server placed the tiered dishes with the foodon our table. We have had afternoon tea in many places in the UK and in many other countries and we can honestly say the refreshments served at Oad was best we have received. We would recommend a visit.

We've visited many times and the food is delicious without fail. The drink selection is impressive too. The new (optional) self ordering system worked well and everything arrived quickly. I'd like a search function on this as it's not always obvious which section a particular dish would be in. I'd love to be able to book because arriving at a busy time means waiting with a buzzer but the wait is always worth it

Attending wedding so difficult to judge, site was very pretty although weather was excellent! Bar prices harsh!!

We had brunch in one of the pods, for 6 people. The food was plentiful and delicious, along with generous drinks. The staff were lovely and accommodating. The pod itself was really cosy and decorated so prettily. We all really enjoyed being in it. Would definitely recommend this experience and we will be coming back again.

You can not get a table even though there was empty seats and tables won't go here again.

Had a wonderful afternoon tea with friends and it was really lovely, lots of tasty treats and we were so impressed by the vegetarian and Gluten Free options as well as the standard. The coffee and tea was plentiful, the staff were super helpful and polite and the venue itself is gorgeous. Highly recommend.

Visited Oad St for a late lunch today. Can only say the experience was appauling… much smaller and cramped in person, the toilets were disgusting, the QR code ordering left us without the personal experience we expect from this sort of dining. Fifteen minutes after placing our order on the qr code the table next to us complained about their wait time as they’d waited over an hour we complained after waiting 40 minutes, was informed that there had been a technical issue with the QR system and the kitchen never received our order. At which point I requested a refund for my food so we could leave. However our order was then rushed through to trap us in. We were offered free drinks as an apology however this was all too little too late especially given the tiny glasses these drinks came out in. The food came out and was low quality. Overall seems this restaurant allows for over capacity, lacks in customer service and communication. Very very disappointed with our experience particuarly at this price point.

Generally a fan of this place and the vibe they created. But came on the Oade Street birthday (unintentionally) and they had dance music slamming out of speakers and a saxophonist for breakfast. 10x too loud and out of sync with the vibe of the place. And people were visibly uncomfortable with it, given they want to talk there, and it was missed completely by the team. Food was good but for the price just average and can see ingredients are no longer high quality. Staff were cool but new qr system in place which feels backwards with a more high end place.

Beautiful place. We had the candy floss prosecco afternoon tea which we had as a gift. The food was amazing and the service was excellent.

A lovely cafe/ restaurant. The staff are really nice and food especially good. Only trouble is word is out its good and more people are using it. 5* for the cafe and staff, parking a problem when busy. Access from the A249 can be good or a nightmare with longterm road works, so check google maps first.

Amazing celebratory brunch Perfect in every respect!

I was treated to lunch by my family and found another hidden gem. It has lovely seating outside in decorative plastic bubbles giving it a lovely summer feel. We sat inside and it was spacious and comfortable. The food was so tasty and service was excellent and friendly. We had the pancake special which 2 of us shared. Great car park👍there is a gift shop and picture framing shop with lovely prints .

First but by no means my last visit to Oad st cafe. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and tasty food. Will be trying to book one of the bubble tables for a brunch with friends next time. Highly recommend !!

The food wasn't very nice, over cooked and greasy. The iced coffee drinks were very watery and didn't taste great. The food took almost an hour to come out; which I get they had issues with tills but we weren't kept up to date and had to ask after 30 minutes to ask where food was, and still they added a service charge at the end! I won't be going back.

Shame the bacon was cold no eggs and something I have never tried to much sweet food not enough tomatoes but that was. My choice of what I wanted I think it was very expensive I had paid 45 pounds there were 7 of us all paying the same.

We visited Oad on father’s day and had been booked onto the brunch deal by a family member. We had to wait to be seated for 10 minutes and once we were, it took 15 minutes for anyone to serve us. We were never given a menu or told what was going on, which i’m sure would be fine if you were the person that had booked, but it wasn’t for us. The drinks options were buck’s fizz or corona, of which you were allowed 1 in the deal. When the food came out we were only disappointed further. Although the brunch boards look beautiful it is predominantly waffles and croissants out of a packet, with bottled sauces. The cooked elements were fine but could easily have been sat in a warmer since the start of the day, so it felt like nothing on the board was made fresh except the fruit sprinkled on it. Our tea and coffee didn’t come out until we were half way through the food either. When we switched from savoury to sweet my husband lifted his small plate up to move it and there was some old tomato stuck to it. We were also only given 1 set of cutlery despite separate plates and a sweet/savoury mix. My cutlery was a starter knife and a mains fork. Honestly the whole experience was such a mess but to top it off we paid £30 per person! It seemed outrageous to pay this much and be given such budget options. For perspective we recently had a 3 course meal with a glass of wine for £27.50 at The Ivy. The prices on the normal menu do look a bit more reasonable but i can’t say that we’ll be returning to find out if they’re worth it!

Food was excellent but very slow. We (4) were seated next to the door so got a cold breeze every time anyone came in or out. We asked to changed tables when 1 became free but were told we would have to join the queue at the door if we wanted to change. The staff were all friendly. Suggest booking before you go.

I am most disappointed with Oade Street cafe. I was given an electronic gift voucher for my birthday last year (2023), but unfortunately, being an email, I forgot about it until my friend reminded me and it went out if date 3 days ago. Oade Street were unable to tell if it had been redeemed and therefore would not honour the voucher, which was for £25! My advice is DON'T buy a voucher. I am most disappointed with their Customer Service.

Lovely friendly service and AMAZING food. The only downside is that you can't book a table for 2 so you have to get here early to get one. However, that only confirms just how in demand it is because of the great food!

Great afternoon tea in one of the summer pods..celebrated my Daughter inlaw to be, hen party. Lovely food and great service. Only one thing I would change is the choice of sandwhich or in this case small rolls..only egg mayonnaise and salmon rolls..would rather have finger sandwhich with more choice of fillings

Oad Street never disappoints. The service is always excellent, consistently friendly and attentive staff. The food is excellent; top end of a cafe style. They are WONDERFUL when it comes to allergies and this is the reason we return time and time again. The celebratory brunches are a real treat. You can’t book a table (unless you’re having a celebration brunch). It’s always busy, yet I’ve never waited long for a table. Highly recommended.

nice afternoon tea for me and my friends, but this place is so expensive for what it is. won't be going back. it is an absolute cheek to be made to pay a gratituary charge , this should have been asked if we wanted to pay it, but was added on to the final bill. Felt disappointed overall. Go there yes if you want, but be prepared to pay well over the top.

Went to Oad Street for the first time in a few years, much has changed, service and food still excellent and for this reason I would recommend it. But..... since the redecoration I think it has lost alot of it's charm and cafe was so loud could hardly hold a conversation

One of the best if not the best Brunches I've had. The Royal Stack was so yummy and my husband enjoyed the club sandwich, very friendly staff and a lovely welcoming atmosphere. 100% recommend.

Lovely setting with wonderful food. Unfortunately I heard a couple of member of staff talking and laughing about myself and my step mum which made us feel very uncomfortable. This ruined our first time here and I don’t believe you should ever make anyone feel so awful. Disappointing to say the least.

Had a really nice brunch here. The pod was heated and was lots of food. Genty the waitress was amazing. She went above and beyond to make our experience good. Would definitely recommend.

Top end price for afternoon tea however quality was very good.

Many customers indoor but staff very slow.For this quality restaurant aspect better service.Then I call staff said that I don’t need book because not busy but then we arrive we waiting around 20-30 min to get table.So in this place better do reservations specially if you coming with kids.

Went here for a 40th birthday. Parking was good, bar was busy and swift. Good size dance floor. What more could you ask .

Nice place with pleasant shop. The food is good but the service is poor. Had to wait 20 minutes for a table and was given a small bleeper device although 5 tables were free. We then had to wait for menus and then waited 15 minutes for someone to take our order after I frantically waved. Then we waited 15 minutes for a cream tea and two drinks. Too many young girls who appear untrained and without any sense of organisation. They are friendly but that is hardly the point. Someone with experience should train the staff and set up an organised system. There are plenty of staff but they were all pretty clueless. My husband was a head chef for 40 years in many countries and found the experience dismal.

The setting was lovely vert festive the food was to die for the coffee kept flowing nothing was an issue we had to rake a doggy bag home as couldn't eat any more will definitely be going back and already have highly recommended

Celebrated a friends 40th birthday. The food was amazing and plenty of it, we were able to take home what was left. Would've been better with a few more items to dip in the camenbert, maybe some crusty bread/French stick. Tea was served in a cafetiere which did.get cool quickly but the staff were very attentive and friendly.

Had dog with us so needed to sit in open courtyard, our first visit, surprised how busy for a Monday. Will definitely return
