Wij hadden een reservering gemaakt voor dit restaurant, maar daar werd niet naar gevraagd. Kort na onze binnnekomst werd het een gekkenhuis met héél veel mensen die binnenstroomden en mensen die online hadden besteld en hun eten kwamen afhalen. De eigenaar was in rep en roer en kon het allemaal niet meer aan. Zo ook de keuken niet. We hebben eindeloos zitten wachten en vol verbazing gekeken hoe het allemaal verder verliep. Het deed ons allemaal een beetje denken aan Fawlty Towers. De kip Uttar Pardeshi Masala was voor mij niet te eten, de shrimps Kathmandu was prima. Erbij de special rice die goed was. Alles heel betaalbaar. Ga niet naar het toilet en niet langs de keuken. Wij vonden het verder een ramp.

A lot of flies. From the toilet (door open), past the kitchen (door open) to the dining room, flies. Naan was very thin. It tasted good but it was very thin. Curry was mediocre. I had madras, it wasn’t spicy at all. Black pepper is spicier. I also got a rock or bone or something in my last bite that kind of put me off too. Service was good. Everyone was polite. The food just didn’t seem that fresh, it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great. Poppadum tray says £1.50 on menu but the bill stated £4.50. The sauces looked old and watered down. £60 for two curries, one naan, one rice, I had two beers, she had a Pepsi, and poppadum tray. They gave us complimentary onion bhajis too. That was cool. It wasn’t the worst thing in the world, I just expected better freshness with the food and the premises.

I rarely leave reviews, but the takeaway from here was especially bad and so very disappointing given the seemingly great reviews on Tripadvisor. I ordered the Uttar Pardeshi Masala Chicken at 11.95 the write up for this in the ‘ BEST FROM SCOTTISH CURRY AWARD WINNER’ section is as follows:- This stunning dish is the chef’s favourite and has a very strong tangy, mouth-watering taste. Special tandoori marinated pieces with freshly ground green chillies, cumin, fenugreek, mint, garlic & ginger, pushed over the edge with spring onions – Spoil Yourself! The reality :- imagine the sweet and sour sauce that you get from a Chinese restaurant - with the bright red food colouring added. Take a tub of that, now add a bit of chilli to it and a hint of garlic, blend it into a thin soup. That’s the sauce. The main flavour is ‘very sweet’, a bit of chilli and a back end vinegar aftertaste. Truly vile, uncomplicated, bargain basement and basic. This dish was garnished with exactly zero spring onions. The entire dish was ‘pushed over the edge’, off the table and into the bin. The other mains we had were a chicken Bhuna (med) - a brown mealy, very mild sauce that had an awful mouthfeel, and a butter chicken that was halfway decent and had some flavour. The mushroom rice was greasy. The naan were ok but just ok. In my option and experience anyone looking for a halfway decent Indian meal should look elsewhere.

Lovely local indian restaurant and takeaway. We had a really nice meal, friendly service and attentive helpful staff. We especially liked the carrot salad and the complimentary traditional onion bhaji. The almond delight was to dur for!

We visited here on a Monday as a family and we were the only people there, which was a shame because the food was delightful and there was fantastic service. I am dairy free which is not the easiest to account for but immediately the waiter was able to advise me exactly what I could eat and not. The food did not disappoint- delightful curries and sides. Just the right heat and amount of food for all of us. I would definitely visit if staying nearby.

My friend and I dined during our stay in Aboyne not knowing about the Sunday buffet. The chef prepared 2 special gluten free starters for us and we enjoyed the items on the buffet. Everything was amazingly delicious! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area looking for a delicious meal with amazing hospitality!

We had the Sunday Buffet Special. Excellent variety of Indian dishes. Beautiful sauces and succulent meats. Very friendly service and freshly made breads and pakora offered around the tables. Recommend!

Me and my mum, and often wider family, eat at this restaurant every few weeks and every time we have been there the food is amazing and the service is fantastic. The owner and the waiters are so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend. You will not be disappointed.

We have just come back from a lovely evening at the Nurtaj. The food was delicious, fresh, beautifully prepared and well presented. The service at this local restaurant is always very helpful and extremely friendly. Very well done - it’s great to see this little gem in Aboyne going from strength to strength….

Birthday dinner on a Monday a bit quieter than usual, The food was really nice and tasty I would go back.

Sehr netter, aufmerksamer Inhaber. Es war leider sehr leer , Ambiente ist nicht so gemütlich aber dafür das Essen hervorragend! Es gab einen Gruß aus der Küche der schon als große Vorspeise durchging, dazu eine schöne kleine Geschichte. Preise auf jeden Fall in Ordnung. Bietet Takeaway an. Auf jeden Fall probieren!!

We had a superb meal on a quiet Friday night, but the service was friendly, approachable and cheerful. The meal itself was great , easpecially the Uttar Pradesh Masala and the lovely wedding dish - Dulhani Bhoona.

Walked past here the other day and saw the menu looked really good with some great veggie options so thought we would check it out. Was not disappointed. Everything was cooked perfectly and my paneer dish was absolutely delicious. Very friendly atmosphere and great food, would highly recommend.

I must have been to a different restaurant than the rest of the reviewers as our meal was awful, with my dish inedible! What was supposed to be vegetable Chasni was actually a carton of frozen veg slipped in an inedible sauce. Perhaps the. chef was sick and they had to pop out to our local Co Operative for a bag of frozen veg? Popadoms came with an almost lime green sauce which had only ever seen the inside of a processed bottle. Real mint and yogurt had certainly never touched it. My husband's chicken tikka masala was very red and very sweet! Our peshwari nann was also very poor. In short, I will never get a take away from Nurtaj, and warn others to beware.

Really lovely find on our travels. Would recommend the special dish - Uttar Pardeshi Masala Chicken. The mix of ginger tamarind and lime was really great. 👌 the host was very kind and warm and very knowledgeable about the dishes. The interior had some great wall murals all very clean and well kept. Wish we could come again!

Love this place. The food is excellent.

It's the first time I've been here for a while and under new ownership. I was shocked they had run out of popadums which is unheard of and no keena nan left either. I was also surprised just how expensive it was which may explain why it was almost empty. My food was okay but ive had better at half the price.

We were looking for somewhere to eat that did vegetarian/vegan food and we saw this place online. The waiter was extremely helpful and friendly and we asked for a dish that wasn't on the menu but he arranged for the chef to make it for us, how kind. We went home full and as it was my partners birthday we even got a complimentary starter! (the dish in the photo is Paneer Tandori)

As some one who doesnt know indian quisine i can say this is a great place to start. They are quite clear on the spice and as the menu stated the Tiger special is truely special. They serve everything in a way so you can also share if you are in a party. Perfect for familys or people that wish to try something diffrent in a party. The owner is willing to help explain anything you wish to know.

We found this restaurant nearby to have authentic Indian food. The food was good and satisfactory. Being an Indian I do understand the authentic indian taste. But it was okay to have it. We ordered the food for takeaway and had it during our stay. The owner was a very humble and nice person. He shared some local places to visit which were really worth it. Went today for the buffet was booked for half one, was told come back at two then told come back in twenty minutes not impressed! Definitely won't ever be back!

My wife and I eat there once a week and we absolutely love the food! We have tried almost every dish on the menu, and are working our way through the rest of them. The staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and treat you like you are family. This is not your usual Indian restaurant food, there's dishes on here I've never heard of and from places I cannot pronounce, but the flavour combinations are incredible.I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Enjoyed a fabulous meal with my family on a Sunday. The restaurant was very clean, ambiance was just right, the waiter was very professional. The food was DELICIOUS!!! I will be going back. Such fabulous flavours and textures. I was very happy to have found this exotic option in a small Scottish town.

I went to get a takeaway from this restaurant as it had 5 stars , stood and looked in the window at the menu and all I could smell was the rubbish bin located at the front …. Went in and stood at the bar until someone acknowledged me…. The restaurant wasn’t that busy but all I could see was one waiter , behind the bar was a complete trip hazard … bottles on the floor, till was wide open with money clearly sticking out… I finally placed my order and was told to come back after 1/2 hour….went back and waiter was still on his own, dealing with tables and takeaways. Said it would be a 5/10 mins … I waited and waited! 🙄 Till eventually I ordered myself a large rose 🍷 After 1 hr and 15 mins I finally got my food…it was tasteless not vindaloo like I asked and sagg aloo had meat in and I’m a vegetarian!!! I wasn’t happy to say the least and will definitely be going back to complain and will not be ordering from there again!!! 🤬🙄😤

If there were more stars available then they would be awarded. The best Indian food we have had in this country, by a country mile! The portion sizes are enormous and the meat is perfectly cooked with a beautiful grilled flavour. Try the Garlic Shagorana, you will not be disappointed. The banquet for two is fantastic value for money and has become a firm favourite in our house. April and Craig.

Very poor service but the food was good. We placed our order online at 6:20pm and requested to collect it at 7pm which was then accepted. I arrived at 7pm only to find the restaurant packed with other customers waiting for their food which was obvious at that point that they were very busy. My food was finally ready an HOUR LATE and when I got home the bag that was holding all our food in fell apart spilling some of our food on the floor. They also forgot items I had paid for and we’re not in the bag!! I called to discuss this but they wasn’t answering the phones at all! Why they accepted my allocated time slot of 7pm when they were so busy was obviously their first mistake. Every restaurant has busy times but it’s getting the order right that is so important. A very disappointing first visit and I’ll never eat there again!

Amazing food! We were looking for somewhere with vegan options and this place did not disappoint! So many options and incredible, deep flavours! So good in fact that we came here 2 nights in a row! Recommend to anyone looking for an authentic Indian meal, especially recommended to vegans for the amount of choice!

Excellent experience. Arrived early evening and were the first customers- a little reluctant to go in. Our waiter was very attentive and even asked 'thank you for trying us out.' The pleasure was all ours- popadmons, curries were delicious. Great secluded booth space.

Absolutely useless. I ordered delivery a month a go from here through Just-Eat, missing items, wrong curry delivered. Phoning on the day seven times with no answer. Can't get through at all before going out of the country for ten days. Come back to try and do something, just-eat refuse to do anything due to restaurant not closing the order apparently, Nurtaj says order is closed and ready to be sorted. I phone just - eat again only to hear the same thing. Just not going to bother with either at this point.

In our group was a table of 4, 3 vegans and one vegetarian. Menu had a fantastic range of options, the waiter was very friendly, helpful, and generally pleasant to interact with. Food was quick once ordered, reasonably priced and incredibly tasty. Will definitely be heading back here to eat again, and will be recommending this place to anybody that tells me they want to eat out in Aberdeen. All round great experience.

Lovely food and nice service. The waiter couls tell us about traditions in India and how people grow their own vegetables in the garden. Many vegetarian dishes and vegan options. The restaurant doesn't look inviting from the outside, but the food and service is great.

We had an itison voucher for here. It included a starter, main, rice and a side for two people. The service was excellent and the food was even better. So tasty, so much flavour! Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back!

Both myself and my wife cannot fault Nurtaj. We arrived 30 minutes early for our reservation but we were sat no problem in one of the lovely little booths they have and warmly welcomed. From start to finish the customer service was excellent and we were made to feel comfortable, welcomed and very happy indeed. We had starters, mains and sides and everything placed on our table was cooked perfectly and tasted just delicious. Happy to say that is some of the best cooked chicken I have had at any Indian restaurant. We would very much recommend this restaurant to anyone with a liking for seriously tasty Indian food whilst being treated to very pleasant surroundings and lovely customer service.
