Notion in Stockport

Notion is now Blackbird Cafe! It was absolutely awesome 😎 Amazing food and excellent service! Staff were very kind and sweet! Lovely to chat to and they seem to like where they work. The Ox Cheek Nuggets were sublime! The sauce on the sticky chipolatas was so super tasty, that we had to use our chips to sop it all up. We shared a few starters ( Ox Cheek Nuggets, Sticky Chipolatas, Rosti Chips and Triple Cooked Chips) and had a main plate , the Wild Boat and Beef hotdog. It was all fabulous, even the ketchup .... It seemed a bit richer than usual but it could be that I've just not eaten ketchup in so long I've forgotten what it's like 😅😅. My favourite was the Ox Cheek Nuggets and Hubby's fave was the hotdog. The Ox Cheeks were really tender, flavourful and lightly breaded. They almost fell apart as we took them out of the container. The hotdog was really juicy and had a firm bite. The meat was spiced well and not overwhelmed by the mustard drizzled on top. Thank you for a fabulous meal!

Good music selection when I went in - 90s grunge heaven!

Shocking place with bouncers. Me and my mates tried to get in. As it was summer I was wearing shorts bouncers refused entry. Yet girls wearing pretty much a thong and a bra were let in. Won't bother again. Expensive and trying to be something it is not. In response to the sarcy comment, glad you find it funny you've lost about 20 customers, plus point is letting in girls wearing nothing and not allowing Men in in shorts, not really answered why that is the case, hey ho, let plenty of people know so 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Me and 3 others came to this bar yesterday after being at a bonfire display. Had a lovely night and spent a few quid on drinks. Unfortunately my partner was pretty much attacked in an unprovoked incident outside by 3 of the bouncers for simply walking outside with his drink that was in a plastic cup. I noticed the commotion from inside and went to confront them and they let him go. I've spoken to my partner who said he simply got told by the black bouncer that he couldn't have his drink outside. My partner said okay, ill finish it and the black male bouncer proceeded to grab the cup out his hand resulting in it spilling over the two of them and then out of nowhere, another bouncer (white male) came from behind him and gripped both his arms and then another came and had him basically in a choke hold. When I say, this was completely unprovoked and unnecessary. I shouldn't have to end my what was a really nice night meeting up with friends with seeing my partner pretty much assaulted by 3 bouncers just because they felt like it. I will be filing a poilce report. Date was 4th November 2023. Unsure of the time but it was around closing time. Absolutely disgusting behaviour. I do want to say, we had an absolute ball in the venue. Great music, great staff, great vibes. Just a shame about the bouncers who I have absolutely no doubt are probably not employed directly through the bar and sub contracted out as they usually are. So please don't let this put you off visiting. Just be wary and probably don't attempt to take any drinks outside whether its in a plastic cup or not.

Great night got ruined by a door man who was far than rude. Told my friend he came could back in after doing nothing wrong at all. Was uncalled for.

Superb bar , brilliant bar service

Bouncers are intimidating and incompetent, please stop turning away potential business when your staff cannot make a fair judgment on your customers. They should not be allowed to be on the door when they cannot handle a simple task. It was humiliating and embarrassing for me personally, I was told to come back in 10 minutes as if it would make a difference. A real potential for keeping my local businesses supported to be confronted at the door. I had to even question if they would check my identification but this was beyond their remit. Really spoilt the night and would not recommend visiting here for anyone, I had a better experience at Bakers Vaults and Bask.

High prices and long wait time. Took 30 mins to get 4 drinks which wernt even great for a £8 price mark. Good atmosphere and great at late night but needs faster and more trained bar staff.

Came from afar for food that's been nicely advertised online, only to be told they only serve food if the owner is there. We were then told "he might be in later, but probably not." I feel like something that important should be more publicly mentioned

This place is a wonderful place to be. Everything about the notion is great, l and my friends enjoy, good experience.

I found this bar quite by accident. I went to Tesco to do a big shop at 2am as it used to be open 24 hrs. Well I felt stupid as it’s now closed at 12.00 So walking back I passed this place again. I now realise it’s a brilliant bar with a late listener until 4am. Great rock vibe. Felt like i’de walked into Stockport version of the Bourbon rooms” out of Rock of ages. So happy I found this place, Stockport has a pulse after all.

Pizzas are sublime, drinks are top tier, Boris' head is on a spike. What more could you ask for?

Extremely busy as seems to be the latest opening place in Stockport. Quite a long wait at the bar, but understandable given the amount of people. Would probably go again.

If you're looking for something different this is it. Skater parkesque. Aimed at the younger student market it definitely hits the spot. Drinks were reasonable, served in plastic glasses which I didn't like, which is why it should get a 4 star, but the bar staff made up for it by being chatty and friendly so they get a five. A good fun place.

Had a lovely evening in this quirky venue. The bar team were brilliant. I was drawn in by the music being played, once inside there is some amazing artwork.

Without doubt the best bar in Stockport I've ever been in. The bar staff Mel and Mark are the most attentive and friendly bar staff I've ever had the pleasure to meet. Incredible service, great banter and an all round amazing atmosphere to be in. The staff are a credit to the place and long may they continue to work there. Would happily go back and again and again

Best bar in stockport! The nicest cocktails and the loveliest bar staff. Mel and Mark was especially helpful and super talkative :) Definitely recommend their happy hour too. Big well done to the staff working behind the bar on one the busiest nights of the month on foodie Friday!

Girl working tonight had a bad attitude. Poor service. What’s the point in hiring staff that have no social skills or any customer service.

No food on offer. Hate to say it but I think it's a dying bar since atedaysaweek left for Manchester. I don't vote tories. But why have you got of mural of boris and co spiked on the toilet doors? I think it is a little presumptuous to say none of your customers might find this offensive? Is as laugh, but at the same time, it's not! After reply....and thats why you won't be here in 18 months time.

decent music, and different decor, but the drink prices are not worth it at all. over £25 for two pints of lager a wkd and a single vodka and not even Smirnoff vodka some cheap knock off brand . and then to top it of all served in plastic cups so unfortunately for that matter we would not recommend this venue.

Fantastic bar with friendly staff, open till late so makes for a decent night out or decent stop at the end of your night. Great music choices but wouldn't recommend it if you're after a listen to Kanye ;) Nice vibe, lovely food, a good team... can't go wrong

A bar this small shouldn't have issues serving their customers. The man behind the bar appeared to be doing their job but they were swamped at one side and appeared to be doing most of the work on their own. We were ignored in favour of talking to friends in the corner by the other staff member and we were stood at the bar far too long and ended up leaving out of frustration. One person to my left was served in the time me and my friends were stood there and then the staff member went back to the corner again ignoring the queue at the bar. Serving one person in almost half an hour is appalling. I Re-read what I put and it sounded like I was angry at all the staff but it was supposed to be aimed at one specific person. That person has not represented the business well at all.

Got called a tory because I asked for a glass of red wine for my girlfriend. It's been a week and I'm still not over it. Can't sleep. Can't focus at work. Ended up getting a cocktail, it was alright.

Great food. Chips were prefect. Live Forcheddar was spot on. Great host - made us feel welcomed and delivered an experience. Thanks!!

We had the chicken wings, fries and chicken tenders and the food was great and at a great price. Good service, good looking bar… only downside was the range of craft beers but having said that their house larger was on point and you could definitely stick on that all night

Came on first day of opening. Really cool dive bar with unique atmosphere and decor. The cocktails i had were amazing. Tried the 50p buffalo wings which are some of the best I've ever had. Good music and friendly staff, will be returning!!!
