Nostos in Brighton and Hove

Good restaurant. The food was good but it was very hard to get the attention of the restaurant staff, I don’t know if they were under staffed or something.

Had a lovely long lunch in memory of our mother.

If you are getting married in Brighton and want exceptional food with amazing service, then Nostos is your place. Nostos catered for us a couple of weeks ago and they were by far the best people we worked with and made the process so easy. I could not recommend them more highly. We went for a Greek buffet which was delicious - meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans were all well catered for with ample quantities, including skewers, dips and delicious salads - beetroot, walnut and apple was my favourite, meanwhile my mother said the mushroom skewers were pure perfection. The quality of the catering made our day so special and I have no regrets about going with Nostos. Filipa was so helpful throughout and even took on a last minute request to source us a wedding cake. On the day, the staff were so friendly and kind and really added to the day. All of our guests LOVED the food and crucially no-one went hungry. Thank you Nostos for your brilliant food and service, we are so grateful that you catered for us and look forward to visiting the restaurant in Hove to remember our special day.

The worst Greek food I have ever tried! The wine that we were served it was off and the food it was definitely not Greek cousin.

I have just returned from the Cyclades and was so pleased to find authentic Greek food in Hove. A brilliant evening.

Very pleasant spot for dinner. Food was decent, the orange chocolate cake an absolute stand out. Very friendly laid-back restaurant, service very good,. The only blemish was a large, self-unaware group in the middle who all seemed to bellow at full volume.

Nostos and their team provided the catering for our wedding with 94 guests and we could have been more thrilled! As soon as we booked them, the process was completely seamless with such quick and responsive communication throughout - nothing seemed to be too much trouble (despite a guest list of various dietary requirements). The food itself on the day was absolutely delicious (with such generous portions) and so many guests commented on how wonderful it was. We are so happy we chose Nostos and would definitely recommend them to anybody looking for wedding caterers. Thank you again for completely exceeding our expectations!

Friendly staff. Excellent Greek food with an interesting and varied menu. Their Feta Nests are on a next level and are an absolute must to try!

Absolutely superb. I live close by but only 'found' this place a week ago. Have visited again and will certainly visit again. Drinks are a bit pricey - pint of Stella £7.30 (17/08/24) - but great location. Loads of indoor seating - but on those sunny days quite a few outside places and, facing west, it has the sun for the afternoon and well in to the evening. Had calamari today, just as a light lunch. Perfect - some places can do it OK, most badly, but here it was 8 out of 10, and I don't rate highly very often. Other food being served looked great and whilst I think drinks pricey, food is really good value. And the icing on the cake - staff outstanding in every way.

Brilliant service went the extra mile for one of us who is Gluten Intolerant really impressive

At 7:30 there was only one member of staff and we had to wait 1/2hour until we were asked what drink we wanted! After we ordered food was relatively quick but the olives came 15 minutes after the starter. By 8:30 there was 4 staff members so things got better. Humous and pitta was nice. Mains were average. Menu was very limited for a Greek restaurant. The last time I went a few year ago this was a lovely restaurant but I won’t go again

Nostos have catered for a couple of events for us now and have done a fantastic job each time. They've provided excellent food (including some special dietary requirements), it was fairly priced and overall provided really good service. Highly recommended.

Lovely evening with my friend and really good food and riendly service. I am very allergic to dogs and three came in with a table and the moved me the other side of the restaurant. Thank you for that. The triple cooked chips were great and also loved the aubergine dip

A wonderful evening spent in this beautiful restaurant celebrating my daughter’s Hen Do. Nothing was too much trouble for Filipa and her team. 25 of us enjoyed a delicious meal, all served quickly and efficiently. Place names, favours, games were all set up for us. A separate table made available for pictures, prizes and cakes. We were made to feel very special. I went back the following week with a friend to enjoy the experience all over again and was not disappointed. Thank you all so much. Karen

Nostos did the catering for our son's naming ceremony. The food was very good and big quantity and Filipa (the manager of Nostos) is a lovely person. Very professional and with excellent communication skills.

Every enjoyable meal in the restaurant, food was very nice and the service was first class, definitely go here again.

For me personally, the team at Nostos Hove go way beyond the standard restaurant expectation of good food and good customer service. They offer superb food, great customer service and a brilliant venue which allows my wife who has MS to get in and out of the restaurant with ease, so for accessibility it's superb. Kryiakos and his team also give to charity and have helped countless organisations by being kind and supportive. Along with this, I've made friendships at the Big Fat Greek Club which is hosted at Nostos, Hove and I'm looking forward to visiting again. Here's my favourite dish attached, more dessert but I LOVE IT.

We've eaten here twice for work events and everyone has always been delighted with the food. There are enough choices that everyone in the team could order something they really liked. The staff are friendly and always take excellent care of us.

Was extremely shocked about the poor treatment and rudeness of the staff. £1 charity for the children that they don’t disclose to you when you pay - it’s a tax right off. Which children? Poor staff. You don’t even get service charge sadly. We had one hour to eat. Said we didn’t have enough time for desert even though we had 2O minutes left. We will NEVER go back again. People work hard for their money. I am going to take my family to a venue that feels like family. Yasu!

Fabulous food with lovely staff - I can highly recommend the feta nests. Our son has coeliac disease and they do gluten free chips which are amazing.

A friend and I had an amazing lunch here a few weeks ago. The food was outstanding, service was friendly and helpful, and it's a lovely place. It's usually packed when I walk past so I always wanted to visit. Absolutely recommended.

We held my husband’s surprise 40th birthday at Nostos and it was a brilliant experience. From the very beginning Filipa was incredibly helpful and informative. She kept in regular contact and was quick to respond to emails. The day itself was brilliantly organised and everyone spoke highly about the food, which was served as a buffet at my request. There was a wide selection of food and thoughtful touches for children too. Thank you to the whole team.

Really lovely meal. Both food and service were great. Def recommend ordering several of the sharing plates/dips to share. Especially lovely the feta nests and vine leaves. My friends meat main courses looked incredible, and although I enjoyed the moussaka, next time I think it would just go for more smaller plates as I liked those more. But nice varied menu

8 of us gathered for Father's Day and everything was perfect.

Relaxed midweek supper sitting outside in the June sunshine. Friendly service, delicious Greek wine, lovely fresh salad and Greek meze. Very enjoyable.

Ours was a family gathering, featuring one child of eight and three senior citizens in their 80s and various others in-between. Not all are easy to cater for but on this occasion everyone was delighted with their meal, with the vegan moussaka in particular coming in for praise across the party. All said that they would enjoy returning to sample other dishes on the menu. The place was full even on a Wednesday, indicating its popularity, but the lady who was covering all the tables managed very well as did the kitchen staff.

This is a super nice restaurant. The staff were attentive and friendly and theres a strong sense that its an authentic family restaurant. Our dinner was outstanding, simply wonderful mediterranean fayre - and every table was full, but we only booked the day before, so give it a go.

I’ve had the pleasure to both dine and get business catering takeaway food from Nostos. The food is not only authentic but cooked to perfection. The flavours blend perfectly and the service is always a top notch. I cannot wait to return to the restaurant very soon.

A somewhat disappointing experience. Chicken Souvlaki - small and a bit bland and dry. Tiny pot of tzatziki with it. No rice, small pita and bit of salad and chips? Lamb Shank was OK. Octopus starter was really nice, but very small. Expensive too. I've had much better Greek food in Brighton and paid much less. Service was good. Restaurant not busy. I think they need to rethink portion control and prices.

Absolutely the best food and service! It really took us back to being in Greece, especially with the gorgeous greek music that was playing! The food was fresh and incredibly tasty. We had gigantes, seasonal vegetables, vegan moussaka, corn pitta with aubergine dip to share. Followed by orange pie for my partner and the vegan profiteroles for me on the most intriguing ceramic bowls that looked like large stones (see pictures). Truly delicious! By far the best restaurant in Brighton and Hove!

We went for a late lunch. Food was lovely as was the service. Wine also lovely and very well priced. Would highly recommend and will visit again.

We used the Nostos catering service for some canapes for our event. They were really delicious and looked great. The service was swift and helpful. We will definitely use them for a future event.

Tasty food with good presentation. Lamb shank was lovely, hake was cooked beautifully, vegan mousakka was great. Hummus and pita was nice. Dessert was presented well if not a little strange in texture. Disappointing aspect for us was the service: non attentive, uninterested, no warmth from the waitress at all. She was very unhelpful with our wine choices and hard to flag staff attention when we needed. I expected much better service. The young man who didnt seem to be a waiter - he just collected dishes and cups - was much nicer. Wish he had been our waiter.

The food was a messy fusion, not matching with my expectations or experience of authentic Greek food. Not worth the trouble.

We ordered catering from Nostos for a birthday party and were very pleased. The food was very fresh and delicious despite the early start of the kids party. They catered for specific dietary requirements of our guests by creating a separate version of the dish. The communication was prompt, clear and professional which made this experience excellent. Would definitely recommend Notos for catering!

Wonderful tasty authentic Greek food. Reasonable price and excellent service and wine. Unfortunately not that busy which did affect the atmosphere slightly but meant staff were very nicely attentive!

I had my birthday meal with my family here and it was perfect. The food was amazing, everyone loved their meal with plenty of vegetarian choices, and the staff were so lovely. The restaurant has a lovely vibe and I couldn’t have asked for more. Will definitely be back.

Filipa and the Nostos team did a fantastic job of catering for our February 2024 Design Critique event. They came and setup the catering table, were great to work with, and provided amazing food. We look forward to the next time we work with them!

Food was excellent, I was very happy with my choices and so were my friends. The service was excellent, the staff very polite and helpful with our order as well as attentive without being annoying. The atmosphere felt very Greek, literally reminded me of my stay in Greece. I don't often give 5 stars across the board but I do think between the food and the staff it is worthy

Booked Nostos for Catering for all staff away day and I cannot recommend them enough. Catered for all dietary needs, huge selection, healthy and delicious. We will be booking them again this summer!

Not only do I love this restaurant for a family meal but I also used their catering services for a staff away day and cannot recommend this enough! The selection was incredible, catered for many different dietary needs and displayed beautifully. The delivery was on time and they kindly collected on time and the staff loved it so much they clapped as they came to tidy the food away (a lovely compliment of how much it was enjoyed) We will be using Nostos catering again for many more events including a corporate event this summer for 150 people

We went there for dinner (twice already 😊), had a lovely time. Sharing a bunch of starters is a great way to get to experience some of their exceptional dishes, before delving into the hearty mains. My impression was that this is a crossover between a contemporary, fine dining experience - well rooted in authentic Greek cuisine. Dishes are creative, beautifully plated and absolutely delicious!

Lovely food and good service. Door was left open a lot so the restaurant was cold and this expedited our departure.

A quiet Sunday lunch. Lamb Kleftiko and Chicken Souvlaki both delicious although the sweet potato puree under the lamb could have been a bit warmer. We had a glass of house red each and that was great too. There are lots of gluten free options to choose from. We'll be back.

Booked a lunch with friends as reviews good but unfortunately very underwhelming. We also got the draughty table by the door despite booking. Staff ignored us after we first arrived talking amongst themselves. We had to ask for water for after waiting 10mins. Staff disinterested and unhelpful. Food very average and overpriced... £13.50 for 4 small florets of cauliflower and small wedge of hispi cabbage with tasteless sauce. Will not be returning.

I got the tenderised lamb which was lukewarm and was covered in overly sweet sauce which ruined the entire meal. Furthermore, it smelt like dog food. The food comes down in a lift by the bar and the service was not very friendly. I would not visit again - many better Greek restaurants with better menus and food

Went for Valentines night dinner. We had been once before with friends for NYE which was great so wanted to try again. Our waiter was Armand who was very attentive and gave us some great recommendations from the menu. All the staff are polite, friendly, and professional and there is a very warm and welcoming atmosphere about the place. The food is excellent, the service is swift and efficient, and the prices are reasonable for a Brighton/Hove restaurant. Refreshingly, Nostos do not add a mandatory service charge, which is becoming a rarity I have found lately. The customer has the option to add service. One minor criticism - like another reviewer here, I am not a fan of the "dog friendly" policy, in this or any restaurant.

Nostos has truly the best greek food in Brighton and hove! The atmosphere is very cozy and the staff is very attentive and friendly and eager to help and recommend some dishes. If you are looking for authentic greek cuisine and / or a nice dinner experience in Brighton Nostos is definitely worth your stop!

Lovely cozy spot. Staff were great. Food was alright for the price range. Some authentic Greek food although I would recommend adding more wine choices. We didn’t end up paying a lot and we left happy and well fed so all in all a very good choice for a group dinner.

Back again and I wanted to see if this restaurant was still as good as the last times I came here! Although the weather has been grey and sad, the warm food and lovely waitress and restaurant vibe warmed me up! This time I tried the souvlaki and the feta nests were amazing! Lovely to see that Brighton and this restaurant in specific continues to improve !

Myself and my daughter Amanda & Son in law Ben visited Nostos today, Sunday 4 Feb, for lunch, I had Tzatziki, Chicken Souvlacki with double cooked chips, pitta bread with additional side dishes & sauces with drinks. I'm not joking when i say the food was delicious, tasty, and beautifully presented. The young woman who served us was very kind and curtious. Well recommended. Hopefully, I will return again soon. We have wanted to try this place for over a year and can’t believe we waited this long! The food was impeccable, real traditional Greek flavours. The lamb was juicy, tender, cooked to perfection. I cannot recommend more highly! We had the Greek salad, the moussaka, lamb side and the seasonal veg. Our waitress was lovely too :)

I always look out for Greek restaurants when on a trip anywhere and Brighton is a frequent destination for us! Saw the relatively good reviews and walked in on a Sunday around 15:00. There was only one group of people at the restaurant and the rest empty. There was only one waitress who went out of her way not to be friendly and offered us the worst table at the entrance close to the door. There was a cold draft and a very unfriendly atmosphere to the place! As I value the whole eating experience and service and atmosphere were non existent we decided to leave! So I didn’t get a chance to taste the food because I didn’t want to be disappointed! Perhaps I will try again when the owners are around as we may get better service! On departure were were told that if we had booked she would have given us a better table in the otherwise empty restaurant! 🤷🏻‍♂️

I used Nostos to cater an event for 40/50 people and the process was seamless! Filipa and Kyriakos were extremely helpful and recommended the best options for us. The food was delicious and kept warm throughout the duration of the event! Couldn't recommend them enough and will certainly be using them again!

had been before and had enjoyed. Not a massive menu, starters better than main. all our starters were good the eggs, octopus and butter beans but nearly the price of a main in some restaurants. Mains were the lamb shank - rich good portion, chicken - chicken tasty, potatoes tasted dry and felt they had been kept warm for a while, small portion of the dip of your choice thought was very average for the price. chocolate cheesecake desert was very good if it is your thing (only one desert was had.) house wine ok. don't like they put on a charge of a £1 for a charity without telling you. ended up £46 a head which was expensive for quality, one desert, 1 bottle house wine which comes in a caraffe and a gin.

Another great meal in a lovely restaurant. Having previously been here with friends we came back for a pre-Christmas lunch celebration and loved it. We had tzatziki and breads, feta pies, pork tenderloin and moussaka - the flavours were amazing! Service was great and the Greek wine was ace too. Many thanks Nostos.

We went here for dinner on a Saturday night. It's a smart place, with welcoming staff. The menu is interesting; I had scallops to start (small, not very exciting) and a pork dish from the daily specials (delicious!). Plus 2 glasses of house red; not bad. The place filled up as we ate, but even when we arrived a table of 6 was VERY loud, and soon I could barely hear what my companion was saying; the noise level seriously detracted from our enjoyment of the evening. I wouldn't go again.

The food was underwhelming. We ordered the seafood pasta and the pancetta along with cocktails. The pasta was very undercooked and dry. The pancetta was dry and unseasoned as well. Usually in Greece the pancettas are more thinly cut and cooked evenly to keep the meat tender. The one i got was a thick cut making it quite bland. It was a bit too expensive for the portions provided and the quality of the food. Overall the food is not the worst but it was not good. If you want to eat good greek food i would suggest going elsewhere.

This was our first time at Nostos although I have wanted to go for a while. They knew it was a special occasion for us and it was really lovely. The food is beautiful. Traditional Greek food but also less traditional or with a twist. We loved it, especially the gyro bao bun.. we will be back!

We had a nice time here, pretty quiet on a weeknight but if you’re looking for some solid gourmet greek food, it’s a nice low-key spot with a good variety of veggie/vegan options.

I had eaten at Nostros on four previous occasions and had great food. This week I went with a friend and she enjoyed her meal. However, I was very disappointed. My meal was luke-warm and seemed as if it had been left on the side before being served. The triple-fried chips were soggy and cold as was the souvlaki. Sadly I won’t be returning iin a hurry.

We approached this small business to host our intimate wedding. It was not just a restaurant, Filipa was like an event planner and organiser. They were so accommodating, anything we asked for was never too much. Communication was always so quick which made planning a wedding so much easier. It was all in the details, mood lighting, candles, drinks on arrival and the food was absolutely unreal. All the guests commented on how it was the best Greek food they had tasted! We will be forever grateful for you for helping our dream day come true.

While I've heard mixed reviews about portion sizes, my experience was different. I found the dishes to be well-sized, giving me a satisfying meal without feeling overly stuffed. we had booked for 8 of us to celebrate my mum’s 60th birthday as we had been before and Nostos has been a family favorite restaurant since. We were extremely pleased with the food and the service. Tasty and filling, we went for some of our favorites like the souvlaki and mousakas but also tried a few of the specials which were delicious (will be going back for the gyros bao buns). Overall a fantastic experience, great value for money and we would definitely recommend it.

Food was delicious, a real treat, and service was excellent. Tables were very close together - I understand that this is because it's v small so to maximise space, but it meant v little privacy. However, the food made up for the lack of privacy, so tasty. Will definitely come back.

We dined here on a busy weekend evening. The service was slow and the staff a little stressed. The surprise, however, was the tiny portion sizes - A single small scallop on a plate for £12, the tiniest grilled octopus tentacle surrounded by sauce for £12.50! My partner and I split the scallop. The small plates certainly lived up to their name! We left hungry and feeling ripped-off. Avoid.
