Nostos in Brighton and Hove

The food was a messy fusion, not matching with my expectations or experience of authentic Greek food. Not worth the trouble.

Not only do I love this restaurant for a family meal but I also used their catering services for a staff away day and cannot recommend this enough! The selection was incredible, catered for many different dietary needs and displayed beautifully. The delivery was on time and they kindly collected on time and the staff loved it so much they clapped as they came to tidy the food away (a lovely compliment of how much it was enjoyed) We will be using Nostos catering again for many more events including a corporate event this summer for 150 people

I got the tenderised lamb which was lukewarm and was covered in overly sweet sauce which ruined the entire meal. Furthermore, it smelt like dog food. The food comes down in a lift by the bar and the service was not very friendly. I would not visit again - many better Greek restaurants with better menus and food

Went for Valentines night dinner. We had been once before with friends for NYE which was great so wanted to try again. Our waiter was Armand who was very attentive and gave us some great recommendations from the menu. All the staff are polite, friendly, and professional and there is a very warm and welcoming atmosphere about the place. The food is excellent, the service is swift and efficient, and the prices are reasonable for a Brighton/Hove restaurant. Refreshingly, Nostos do not add a mandatory service charge, which is becoming a rarity I have found lately. The customer has the option to add service. One minor criticism - like another reviewer here, I am not a fan of the "dog friendly" policy, in this or any restaurant.

Nostos has truly the best greek food in Brighton and hove! The atmosphere is very cozy and the staff is very attentive and friendly and eager to help and recommend some dishes. If you are looking for authentic greek cuisine and / or a nice dinner experience in Brighton Nostos is definitely worth your stop!

Lovely cozy spot. Staff were great. Food was alright for the price range. Some authentic Greek food although I would recommend adding more wine choices. We didn’t end up paying a lot and we left happy and well fed so all in all a very good choice for a group dinner.

Back again and I wanted to see if this restaurant was still as good as the last times I came here! Although the weather has been grey and sad, the warm food and lovely waitress and restaurant vibe warmed me up! This time I tried the souvlaki and the feta nests were amazing! Myself and my daughter Amanda & Son in law Ben visited Nostos today, Sunday 4 Feb, for lunch, I had Tzatziki, Chicken Souvlacki with double cooked chips, pitta bread with additional side dishes & sauces with drinks. I'm not joking when i say the food was delicious, tasty, and beautifully presented. The young woman who served us was very kind and curtious. Well recommended. Hopefully, I will return again soon. We have wanted to try this place for over a year and can’t believe we waited this long! The food was impeccable, real traditional Greek flavours. The lamb was juicy, tender, cooked to perfection. I cannot recommend more highly! We had the Greek salad, the moussaka, lamb side and the seasonal veg. Our waitress was lovely too :)

I always look out for Greek restaurants when on a trip anywhere and Brighton is a frequent destination for us! Saw the relatively good reviews and walked in on a Sunday around 15:00. There was only one group of people at the restaurant and the rest empty. There was only one waitress who went out of her way not to be friendly and offered us the worst table at the entrance close to the door. There was a cold draft and a very unfriendly atmosphere to the place! As I value the whole eating experience and service and atmosphere were non existent we decided to leave! So I didn’t get a chance to taste the food because I didn’t want to be disappointed! Perhaps I will try again when the owners are around as we may get better service! On departure were were told that if we had booked she would have given us a better table in the otherwise empty restaurant! 🤷🏻‍♂️

I used Nostos to cater an event for 40/50 people and the process was seamless! Filipa and Kyriakos were extremely helpful and recommended the best options for us. The food was delicious and kept warm throughout the duration of the event! Couldn't recommend them enough and will certainly be using them again!

had been before and had enjoyed. Not a massive menu, starters better than main. all our starters were good the eggs, octopus and butter beans but nearly the price of a main in some restaurants. Mains were the lamb shank - rich good portion, chicken - chicken tasty, potatoes tasted dry and felt they had been kept warm for a while, small portion of the dip of your choice thought was very average for the price. chocolate cheesecake desert was very good if it is your thing (only one desert was had.) house wine ok. don't like they put on a charge of a £1 for a charity without telling you. ended up £46 a head which was expensive for quality, one desert, 1 bottle house wine which comes in a caraffe and a gin.

Another great meal in a lovely restaurant. Having previously been here with friends we came back for a pre-Christmas lunch celebration and loved it. We had tzatziki and breads, feta pies, pork tenderloin and moussaka - the flavours were amazing! Service was great and the Greek wine was ace too. Many thanks Nostos.

We went here for dinner on a Saturday night. It's a smart place, with welcoming staff. The menu is interesting; I had scallops to start (small, not very exciting) and a pork dish from the daily specials (delicious!). Plus 2 glasses of house red; not bad. The place filled up as we ate, but even when we arrived a table of 6 was VERY loud, and soon I could barely hear what my companion was saying; the noise level seriously detracted from our enjoyment of the evening. I wouldn't go again.

The food was underwhelming. We ordered the seafood pasta and the pancetta along with cocktails. The pasta was very undercooked and dry. The pancetta was dry and unseasoned as well. Usually in Greece the pancettas are more thinly cut and cooked evenly to keep the meat tender. The one i got was a thick cut making it quite bland. It was a bit too expensive for the portions provided and the quality of the food. Overall the food is not the worst but it was not good. If you want to eat good greek food i would suggest going elsewhere.

This was our first time at Nostos although I have wanted to go for a while. They knew it was a special occasion for us and it was really lovely. The food is beautiful. Traditional Greek food but also less traditional or with a twist. We loved it, especially the gyro bao bun.. we will be back!

We had a nice time here, pretty quiet on a weeknight but if you’re looking for some solid gourmet greek food, it’s a nice low-key spot with a good variety of veggie/vegan options.

I had eaten at Nostros on four previous occasions and had great food. This week I went with a friend and she enjoyed her meal. However, I was very disappointed. My meal was luke-warm and seemed as if it had been left on the side before being served. The triple-fried chips were soggy and cold as was the souvlaki. Sadly I won’t be returning iin a hurry.

We approached this small business to host our intimate wedding. It was not just a restaurant, Filipa was like an event planner and organiser. They were so accommodating, anything we asked for was never too much. Communication was always so quick which made planning a wedding so much easier. It was all in the details, mood lighting, candles, drinks on arrival and the food was absolutely unreal. All the guests commented on how it was the best Greek food they had tasted! We will be forever grateful for you for helping our dream day come true.

we had booked for 8 of us to celebrate my mum’s 60th birthday as we had been before and Nostos has been a family favorite restaurant since. We were extremely pleased with the food and the service. Tasty and filling, we went for some of our favorites like the souvlaki and mousakas but also tried a few of the specials which were delicious (will be going back for the gyros bao buns). Overall a fantastic experience, great value for money and we would definitely recommend it.

Food was delicious, a real treat, and service was excellent. Tables were very close together - I understand that this is because it's v small so to maximise space, but it meant v little privacy. However, the food made up for the lack of privacy, so tasty. Will definitely come back.

We dined here on a busy weekend evening. The service was slow and the staff a little stressed. The surprise, however, was the tiny portion sizes - A single small scallop on a plate for £12, the tiniest grilled octopus tentacle surrounded by sauce for £12.50! My partner and I split the scallop. The small plates certainly lived up to their name! We left hungry and feeling ripped-off. Avoid.

I'd heard good things about Nostos but everything I'd heard didn't prepare me for this experience! I went with 3 friends and we were BLOWN AWAY as delicious dish after delicious dish arrived on our table. The feta with honey was a particular favourite. What Kyriakos and his team have created here is very special. Highly recommend.

The food was lovely but not much of it and unfortunately the service wasn't great. We were left for 40 minutes after our main course without any desert menu so decided to leave, which was annoying but not that terrible. We were then charged for two bottles of wine when we only had one and had to get the bill altered (lucky we saw it). Not great value and we won't be back because of the service.

Really enjoyed our meal ... great flavours in the Greek salad. The Feta was amazing! Would have given 5 stars, but just thought would have appreciated having a bit more knowledge of the Menu from our waitress, when asking about the salad dressing. Be good to have bit more explanation.

We struggled to find somewhere that would cater for party of 8…Nostos welcomed us with open arms. Service brilliant and friendly, food fantastic. Moussaka was one of the best we’ve had . Very reasonably priced. Atmosphere good, very light and airy. Would definitely come again.

Used to order the feta nests weekly they were my favourite thing, came back from uni and not only has the price gone up, they taste different and there is now only 2 rather than 3? Too expensive for just 2 nests.

Nostos created a fabulous lunch at our offices in Southwick for 50 people. Communication from start to finish with Filipa was brilliant. Everyone loved the food and they even came to clear up afterwards! All in all a seamless experience which as an events organiser, is just what you need. All our staff are still talking about the delicious food which included some tasty vegetarian and vegan options. I would definitely recommend Nostos. Thank you.

Spent a lovely long evening in here with friends. Between us we ordered a selection of small plates and a vegan moussaka. All absolutely delicious. The service was excellent, attentive but also didn't hassle us. We stayed from 7 till 1030 and were unhurried. Lively and bustling, good atmosphere. Would definitely recommend. My friend said it was the best calamari she'd ever had.

My wife and I went to Nostos to try the food for ourselves as had been told by our daughter & son in law that they have been to Nostos with their friends many times and have always had excellent food and service. Needless to say that our experience was just as favourable as them. on arrival we noticed the place was very clean and well organised, nice and warm ambience and friendly welcome even thought we didn't have a reservation. the young lady serving us was happy to explain the menu and different options. The food from starter to desert was very tasty, attractive & well presented. all in all very high quality food and service at reasonable cost considering the location. we have no hesitation to recommend Nostos if you are looking for Good authentic Greek food with a smile.

When I lived in Brighton two years ago, I used to come to this place frequently, and it was my favorite restaurant in Brighton. and when I visited Brighton this time, I was excited to visit the restaurant again, but unfortunately the food in the past was better, I hope they will reconsider about changing the menu again.

Great food and service. Couldn't fault it

Have been looking forward to coming here since I first started following on Instagram. Extremely dissapointed. We had to sit outside as wedding on (completely fair enough). However staff were rude and short. Where we was sitting my son was getting burnt and the sun was right in our eyes. Could see we were uncomfortable but didnt seem to care, instead asked the table next to us if they would like their food inside, I then said “we would” however we got the food delivered to us outside. My son mentioned water dripping but again didnt care and walked off. Water served was warm. Asked for a coke and the woman said “diet”? I said no, she said “well thats all we have got” she said that they have sold out of a lot of stuff. When I asked what else wasmt available, she didn’t answer but proceeded to say “Its bank holiday, so its expected”. No friendly or welcoming at all. I had a starter and an orange juice then we went inside to get the bill and went to a different restaurant to finish our meal. Starter was octopus and didnt look like the instagram pic and wasnt great. My son had the greek sausgae and he said it was nice but just wanted to go because of the sun. Overall not good service, kids meal doesnt include dessert or drink so overpriced. Food nothing special. Table next to us was saying how long the service takes and considering going elsewhere. Didnt offer sauce to go with meal. Wanted to love this restaurant but complete opposite! Will not be returning. Scary! I put up a constructive review, all of which was factual, only to be greeted with a response stating Im not well and its not true. The person who also responded has taken the time to find out what I do for work. This is extremely weird and worrying. You cannot get mad at someones review, in this case, your service was not up to standard! I write when its good and I write when its bad. Just shows gow unprofessional and bitter you are. If you genuinely dont believe what 8 have stated then maybe check your cameras. Why would I leave a restaurant and go to another if the food and service was good? That makes absolutely no sense, and stalking me because its a positive , glowing review is wrong and I will be reporting it.

A wonderful restaurant in Hove. Greeted by a lovely lady who served us as we were literally the first people to arrive early afternoon. Wine and food were outstanding. We sat outside in the warm afternoon sun and enjoyed everything we had. The best Greek restaurant in Brighton.

Let's start with the food. Unfortunately, the dishes I tried were relatively small, didn’t quite meet the price range. To accompany my meal, I ordered a draught beer. However, to my dismay, it turned out to be expired. It was an unpleasant surprise, and it certainly tainted my enjoyment of the beverage. I hope the restaurant pays more attention to such details to maintain the quality of their offerings. The most frustrating part of my experience came during the payment process. When I received the bill and settled the amount of £106, I thought everything was in order. However, the staff returned, asking for an additional £0.59 due to a mistake on the receipt. While the amount was small, the fact that such an error occurred was rather off-putting. Attention to detail is crucial in the hospitality industry, and this incident highlighted a lack thereof. The average quality of the food reflecting the price, the unfortunate incident with the expired beer, and the additional charge misstep during payment all contributed to a less than satisfactory dining experience. While there were some redeeming factors, improvements are needed to ensure a more enjoyable visit for future patrons

Please note I've only ordered Nostos' food off of Deliveroo but all I can say is WOW - the flavours are incredible. The chicken souvlaki was delicious with such fresh flavours, and the triple cooked chips are to die for. I'm craving it all the time! Can't wait to come visit in person.

I had dinner in Nostros with a friend two days ago. It was a fine summer evening and the tables outside were full. It felt as if we were in Greece! We ordered five plates and beers. This was plenty for dinner. All of the plates exceeded expectations. The flavours were delightful and it felt that we were fine dining. There was only one surprise. Both of us had two drinks and the plates but the bill was well under £60 for two. I cannot recall having eaten so well for such an affordable price!

During 2020 Nostas delivered food to the hospital for the staff. It arrived in beautiful individual boxes and was very much appreciated. I finally got to go to Nostos. It's a beautiful restaurant with welcoming staff. The food is Greek with a gourmet twist. I shared small dishes with friends and each dish was a delight. I can't wait to return and will be introducing other friends and family to this wonderful restaurant
