Best fish and chips in Sheffield by far

They fry their chips in Beef fat, and also fry chips in same fryer for meat products like pork pies . Please avoid if you follow HALLAL diet.

The best chip shop by far in this area. They are always friendly and helpful. Tracey always takes my order early in the day and gets it ready for later for me ready for when iv finished work saving me time. Always goes the extra mile, thankyou.

Called in yesterday for some food - after been criticised for walking in twice in an hour (picking up food for other family members), I proceeded to order. An argument soon broke out between staff members - front server and fryer at the back. This resulted in a full argument, swearing name calling for 20 minutes while me and other customers just stood in shock and disbelief. Half of food missing, cold and in 2024 I can’t believe businesses have staff going off like this in front of house - won’t be returning

Used to be good... £16+for two tiny dried out fish and a few greasy chips.... Pathetic portion size and bland ... Used to be good.. undersized and over priced now... Never again...

Always consistently good but the cod, chips, mushy peas and curry sauce today were exceptional. 2x large cod and chips enough for 2 adults and a child with left overs.

Food was good, but if you are not british. Staff will not mind you. Very rude behavior.

AVOID. Literally the worst service I’ve ever received. Karen’s diner have a better attitude towards work than this place. Not to mention how much of an eyesore the employees are here. AVOID.

Nice cod and small chips for me son and daughter in law, twin granddaughters had a bit of all our meals and liked it, my wife and daughter had large battered sausage and small chips. Friendly staff and value for money

This is what I got for my chip butty. What happened to their potion size? Couldn’t even enjoy it. It’s a joke for £3.50

Normally go around once a week from work, normally get, mini fish, chips, side, breadcake and a can of pop for £7. Always been nice and all the staff there have always been nice and friendly.

Been going here for the past 25 years and it has always been my favourite chippy. Never had batter that tastes so good from other chippys. 100% recommended

Fish, chips and gravy. Sublime. Best I've ever had! Travelling up and down the country for football matches I get to try out different food places. And Norwood fish bar is by far the best I've had so far... Well worth a try, don't think you'd be disappointed.

Food is tasty but the portions are really small . especially at the side of all the other chip shops in the area . as money is tight just now I drive past it and go somewhere that's better value . I have just visited this shop as I came out of the pub next door . the chips was stale and cold . and the fish was over cooked and tuff . its usually better than this . but it really has put me off . there was a time when I always said it was the best chippy around . but I'm slowly changing my mind

Always good ,can't get fish n chips in many places in Sheffield ,most of the good ones have gone ,hence we travel a long way to get there

I have been going to Norwood Fish Bar for 15+ yrs always consistently good. The portions are always generous. The only place I go to. I have tried others. These are the best. Staff are always friendly

Had to wait for the haddock to cook, but was well worth it. Quite large portions. Still piping hot after drive home.

Terrible service. Asked for a large chip with salt and vinegar with beans. Came home later and realised there was no salt nor vinegar on the chips!

BEST CHIP SHOP AROUND. JUST 1 PROBLEM, THEY DON'T DO CHICKEN & KEBAB MEAT, WHICH IS ASHAME, BUT I DO RECOMMEND IT HIGHLY 😃

Absolutely disgusting service the woman that works there that served me had a very bad attitude she threw my receipt on the counter I asked for salt and vinegar and she drizzled a tiny bit on you couldn't even see any salt grains on the food and couldn't even taste the vinegar , the portion size was tiny and the peas and curry I ordered was only half full! Then she just threw my order on side and never even said thank you or see you again! The food quality is only just average and the chips was white not even cooked properly! I will not be returning here and will spend my cash somewhere else, don't waste your money and time just go somewhere else!

Sizes a bit small . Staff not that welcoming

Chips undercooked, not fluffy on the inside or light brown on the outside but instead pale and hard. Too many flat “hard pieces” of chip end in a portion of chips. Lacking the lovely creamy, “seaside” chip taste with a soft fluffy texture and bags of creamy palate coating taste. Fish size was small, and texture was “stringy” rather than the fish flaking when you cut into it. Curry sauce watery, very little curry taste and lots of undercooked bits of onion with an unpleasant aftertaste. Used to be quite a good chip shop a number of years ago. Chippy at lane top has a better selection of really good curry sauces, better cooked chips and bigger portion size.

Fishcake was okay. The portion of chips size was horrendous (very small) staff miserable. All in all won't be going back. Shame

Beautiful chips. That is all I ordered. Tastes and smells like being at the seaside. A must try if you are passing. You won't be disappointed. Average price.

Brilliant chip shop , amazing food every time, very good value for the money because of this portion size , friendly staff and the shop is always very clean l.

Every time I go there, I get told to wait and don’t get served. No explanation given, I’m just left standing, during Covid outside for half an hour on my own, no other customer asked to do so, and then told they’d forgotten about me so they would have to take my order again. It doesn’t happen to me anywhere else. There’s no event in the past they may have triggered this. It’s dead silence when I come in, I’m kept waiting indefinitely while everyone serving is supposedly too busy, and when other customers come in they get a friendly chat from the staff and are served before me straight away. The manager always sees and hears from the back what’s going on at the counter, which is all the more upsetting. There’s a big union jack on the outside, so perhaps that has something to do with it, because some people have strange attitudes, but it leaves me wondering whether there is a different reason altogether, which I am certainly not privy to. If management does read this, I would invite them to comment.

I went into this chippy for me and my family, I spend £20 per time. This is the only chippy what charges 5p for a blue FORK!, portions ain't really big either. The owner has never got a smilep on his face. There is 1 women she is lovely who works for him, she always chatty and has a laugh with you. A little boy dropped his sausage once and the boy asked for another one, the owner said no get out!., I felt bad I brought him one instead, then the owner said by rights you shouldn't have brought him one. He could have gave him one, I know it's cost money buts it's just a sausage! With the 5p for the fork and the portions i won't be going again, they don't deserve your custom.

If you like bang average fish and chips and service with a scowl then this is the place for you! Food isn't great quality and it never quite hits the spot but there are worse chippys around and the place has it's own unique character I guess. Think the certain member of staff several people have commented about should find a job she enjoys rather than acting like shes doing everyone a favor by serving bang average small portions. Sure there will be a job available scaring kids she'd be great at and would probably enjoy lol

Always spot on whatever we have

Had no food all day so eat here with 10 mins eating a fish cake I got stomach pain and felt sick so did my husband full of grease uncooked fish to be honest think staff are rude never ever going again vile. theres way better chippys than this to overated this chipshop. i rate this under 0☆ star nasty food .

They have a very unique taste for their fish and chips.

Lovely food but as other reviewers have said there was a lady who “served” us who was beyond rude!! She didn’t acknowledge us at all. No smile or any manners what so ever. She complained and made comments the whole time.

Food lovely shame about the older lady that served me today , no smile , please or Thankyou possibly the worst service I’ve encountered, She could turn the milk sour !

If I could give a zero rating, I would. The service was abismal and the attitude of the staff was worse. After waiting for 20 minutes for fish to be cooked. I was told there was no sausage in batter ready and I would have to wait a further 10 minutes. After this they said "it is what it is “. I walked out and will never go back again.

Called in last night and had 2 mini fish chips and peas as was waiting to collect our daughter from the ngh ..food was lovely ..well worth the money..

Portion size abmissal paid £4.15 for a fish special and was basically given a sardine supposedly a large fish halved due to not having any small fish as they stated would have to wait 20 mins which is a lie do not recommend and will not be going back again waste of money

Fishcakes and fish are very good however never been keen on their chips they are usually cold and soggy. Good thing is that this chippy is open a lot so when others maybe closed go here if you are hungry.

This is now the third time I have used this chip shop. This is the second time that my order was wrong. Small portion apart, but the staff seem to spend more time talking to each than listening to the customer. How can you get two out of three orders wrong? Maybe if they listened to the customer rather than talking about what happened last night. I will not be using this chip shop again, I will also be advising people I know not to use it. How can a fish be confused as a battered sausage? I payed the price of a cod and got a small battered sausage....... Pathetic. NO MORE.

Food normally good - have had food here many times but there's often a mistake with the order. On his occasion, I was charged £4.29 for a fish the size of their mini fish meal!! Didn't realise this until I got home. Big disappointment.

First and last visit.ridiculous experience. customer service was unacceptable. it was atrocious. No words to describe it. Even don't wish to give one star. Most hated experience in life.

First and last visit. Ordered large chips and received the smallest portion seen outside of a cone. Charged for a fishcake that was never received. Food wasn't anything special for the prices charged. Maybe if the staff paid more attention to their job instead of messing around and also trying to take multiple orders at once, they would not rip people off. Never again.

Last two visits items missing and charged for. Last week I went for us and our neighbours, fish missing. Yesterday my wife went for chips, fish and a fishcake carton of peas, and a carton of gravy. She got home and there was no chips. It's not rocket science, won't be going again.

Food was enjoyable, experience wasn't! My second of two visits and today was not good(first was great, older lady very pleasant and chatty). Short, curvy girl was rude and curt. I don't want airs and graces...but I do expect to be asked if I want salt and vinegar on my food. I also think its pretty normal to be asked for payment with a please & thank you. Who knew?! Maybe a bad day for her, but it's cost them my custom.
