The outdoor space is very good, the rear is like someone's back garden. Inside is traditional (in a good way). Nice selection of beers.

Nice atmosphere but I was put off ordering anything when I saw a staff member just rinse his hands under the tap, completely ignoring the soap dispenser, after using the urinal. It seemed really unhygienic and it made me not want to touch anything that he might have handled.

Really nice old building, just a bit tired in terms of decoration. Would have been good to have a gluten free beer available 🙁 Nevermind, we enjoyed the live music and overall it was a good experience

Great pub/restaurant out in gorgeous countryside on the edge of the Peak District. Amazing views from the Beer Garden, nice local ales on tap and great value and choice of pub food in the restaurant. My recommendation is the huge meat pies; changes every day but the steak one we had was excellent.

Called in for a quick drink around teatime. We didnt realise there was a 50th birthday party beginning, which wasn't a problem of course however it meant for a very busy pub. There was a separate area for the public, unfortunately there was absolutely zero social distancing measures in place anyway throughout the pub. Everyone standing and sitting in groups, no spacing at all. Service was quite sloppy, pints were overpoured, beer spilling all over the glasses. Tables were sticky..... What looks like a very inviting pub from the outside was a definite letdown on the inside.

revisiting the pubs from when I lived here 40 years ago. The Hare, which I always preferred anyway, seems to be faring better. I agree with the other reviewer who said the ‘Devvy’ smells of cleaning fluid. The beer garden out the back was litter strewn. Looks like it’s seen better days. Shame, happy memories.

The only thing I can think to say about this pub is that it smells of cleaning fluid. So much so that it puts you off wanting to sit in there. Decent selection of gin though to knock you out enough so you don't notice the smell.

Good oldy pub. Lots of nooks and crannies to relax and chat in. Often gets crowded which is a good thing except when it is over crowded BUT you can still edge your way to the bar. Hare and hounds attracts a younger crowd in the back whereas the Dev often attracts a more mature grouping.

Me (23) and my friend (21) Had our IDs rejected because the bar staff was not convinced it was us. I would not recommend this establishment to students or young adults who obey drinking laws and just want to have a drink after a stressful day. Definitely go to the hare and hound instead.
