North Star Bar in Falkirk

Wish i had found North Star before now, though my waste line would disagree. Hands down best pizza I've tasted. Been a massive pizza fan my whole life and I'm always on the look out for new ones to try. Don't need to look anymore. Amazing

This was our first time visiting and won't be the last. The pizza's were excellent and service was very friendly. Despite all the Covid restrictions the staff managed to create an excellent ambience, making this one of our favourite evenings out this year. There was the added bonus of a pop up cocktail showcase, which had some delicious festive cocktails on offer. It is a shame we are about to be locked down again, but we look forward to returning once we are allowed back out in 2021.

Has now been re branded as Rialto to give it a more Italian atmosphere.. Apparently the same owners since the re branding. The Menu u has been tweeked to give it a distinctly Italian feel which worked for us All Covid 19 protocols efficiently and unobtrusively observed. Social distancing and staff masking in place. New Menu very interesting but we had old favourites New York and Vesuvius Pizzas with Long Island Iced Tea cocktails. Excellent quality and a very reasonable price. Same friendly service we have come to expect this time from the excellent Marta. Very impressed and would thoroughly recommend this establishment for Quality , Service and price.

Easily the best pizzas between Glasgow and Edinburgh. Innovative toppings, always delivered nice and fresh. Light and not greasy, unlike chain or kebab shop/chippie pizzas. And really decent price. 100%.

This used to be great pizza place but having just bought 2 pizzas it is now clearly awful. Absolutely horrible pizzas. £1:40 for extra onion, and there was 5 slivers on it, I kid you not. Hardly any topping and what was there was disgusting. I wish I'd opened the box when I got them as I'd have handed them back. Phoned up to complain, not interested and they hung up. They should be embarrassed by their product and service. Do not touch this place.

Yesterday I ordered pizza for a home delivery as they are still open despite their website saying they’re closed because of the virus. Anyway I clicked the option for contactless delivery as I actually have someone in my house with the virus. I made a note of the contactless delivery just to make sure. The driver chapped my door and I watched through the peephole to make sure he had left the pizza and walked away. He didn’t. So I opened the door and crouched behind the door, this still did nothing for him. He proceeded to hand me two chocolate bars which I didn’t order, he touched my hand. No gloves no mask nothing. Then handed me the pizza boxes all whilst staring me out like I had a piece of paper on my forehead that said “idiot” - although he perhaps should’ve. His whole attitude was funny and off and all round uncomfortable. Why was he even there? Does he want the virus? I’ve contacted the restaurant and they have read my message and not replied.

My partner and I have started popping into this little gem of a place over the last few years . This can be for something as simple as a coffee , a drink or a meal . Never been dissapointed with what we have ordered or the fantastic service . Now due to the lockdown we tried their home delivery service the other day , Oh dear but how busy were they but when the pizza came it was hot , delicous and up to their normal high standard . Pretty sure that we will be doing this again nexty week , yum !!

Was here last monday 2and march, We had a the vesuvius and americano both were very tasty, this is easily the best place in the area for pizza. Top quality. Service was excellent, the girl who was serving was very bright helpful and engaging. We have been several times and I am sure we will be back for more. Love the decor

Been here many times. Pizzas are delicious. Staff are very friendly and efficient. Rest of clientele were lovely. Can't understand the bad reviews but .... they are all personal opinion only. I loved it.

Out walking with my dog, and the rain came on ....we were getting soaked, and I started to look for a dog-friendly place to eat - not easy when you are a stranger to Falkirk. Luckily, I spotted the small dog-friendly logo at the corner of the window and quickly went in. I was welcomed most warmly by all staff and got myself sorted at a table. A bowl of water was brought over for my dog, and he was offered a doggy treat, too. I was given the papers to read, as well as a hot coffee. Being around 11h30, the place wasn’t busy, but my order was taken ....a small margherita pizza with chili peppers and an enormous portion of French fries - both well cooked. Yummy. Staff went out of their way to stop and chat from time to time. Overall, a great experience. Finding myself in such pleasant surroundings was a treat, and I will certainly go back the next time I’m in the area. Well done, everyone!

Went here before the cinema and they had a special vegan pizza of the week and it was great! It had vegan pepperoni, seitan chicken and vegan cheese.. it was a lovely treat. The service was fast and the portion of fries is huge!!! Would visit here again and so glad to get some decent vegan pizza

The food and portion sizes at North star are amazing and the extensive cocktail list makes this ideal for a catch up with friends. My only negative is that service was a bit slow, but the quality of everything more than made up for it.

My wife and myself booked an hotel not far from Falkirk and when a Groupon came to our attention for a 12 inch pizza and a cocktail, we decided to try it. We are not much for cocktails, so I asked if we could have a nice bottle of wine, which seemed more appropriate for pizzas, and that was 'No trouble'. We were able to enjoy a lovely bottle of Chianti.The pizzas were great, if not a little too much, and a box was provided,( for tomorrow's lunch). We did have room for two ice creams and, with the excess on the wine, the difference was less than £12. Altogether, a very good evening, and a special mention for the waitress, who was Polish but, had the strongest Scottish accent any Polish resident could wish for. She was certainly very attentive, and to my wife as well !

First of all we are two over 60's , thinking this place might be a bit 'young' for us. Not at all! We had a lovely authentic pizza served by polite, attentive staff and I would recommend this restaurant to all age groups. My granddaughter (18) says she will def go there with her friends. Nice place all round.

Nice place to relax, good atmosphere and nice staff. Great choice of music from the resident DJ and if your after a good pizza North Star is your place.

Went here this afternoon with my wife, we had the vesuvio and barbary coast pizzas, both very tasty. Beautifully cooked.

Unsuspecting venue, looks like a standard bar but the pizzas inside are incredible.

I feel my rating is harsh, but if I liken it with places I have awarded a 4 too... it wouldn't be fair.

Nice place could be more inviting with comfier seating, the area in the middle needs to be broke up a bit or made into a wee dance floor and a choice of lagers, good DJ

I got a pizza. Small and thin and crispy with hardly any toppings. The clientele were just wannabe-smooth wa----s of the type that have haunted Falkirk for decades - out trying to impress the locals, but with not a penny in the bank. Boring place, tedious atmosphere, overpriced food. All you need to know.

Second time here for pizza and cocktails. Pizza is delicious as are the cocktails. Katie welcomed us tonight and has been fab, great recommendations for food and drink. Lovely girl and lovely place. Recommend!

North Star is one of our favourite places in Falkirk. They serve up fantastic pizzas and yummy cocktails - without a doubt the best in Falkirk.

Booked a pizza on just eat. Was told it would be ready for 6.25. Whist waiting on food got a text saying it was ready. Asked for my food and was not even in the oven. Pizza arrived but they forgot the chips and garlic bread. Had to wait anotherb15 mins on that getting made. Two people in the kitchen and don’t have a clue between them. Won’t be back.

Our grown up family went on a pub crawl for Father's day & we ended up in here after my Mum unusually fancied pizza & we'd heard this was the place to go for pizza. The pub itself isn't the classiest of venues, but the staff are friendly, the have live music & seriously good pizza. They offer 2 for 1 on the pizzas so between 5 of us we ordered 4 x 12inch pizzas & 2 baskets of chips, as amazing as the food was we couldn't eat all of it it was too much. I was absolutely recommend this place for their pizza, the bases are light & crisps with a large choice of toppings and a choice of sizes, the deal makes them good value for money. Thank you, we shall return.

We went in yesterday afternoon. We have been here a few times now and love it. The pizza are top quality. Yesterday I had the New York New York it was the best ever.

Visited with a group of work colleagues. The pizzas were amazing, the fries which came out were really nice and the bowl of nachos that my colleague had was huge. When we went they had a 2 for one offer on all pizzas which made it incredibly good value ., will definitely go back

Food was very cheap but also really good, well worth the money will be back. 2 pizzas a huge portion of garlic bread and big portion of chips for under £15 was great value.

First time visiting here since changing names/hands been really put off by disrespectful rude bar worker called Colin needs to learn some customer service!!!! He's maybe just used to dealing with under 20yr olds but this place needs to realise there's a bigger market for the over 40s!!

We visited here last weekend with friends and enjoyed a couple of nice drinks! I suggested we went in as a saw a few bits of skull/Mexican designs! It's a bit of an odd place to be honest it's like an american diner gone bad lol! The drinks were great though to be fair although and the people watching was most certainly interesting!!!

A decent pub, more popular with the younger crowd with dancing and a DJ. Decent enough music and apparently the pizzas are quite good although we just had drinks which were reasonably priced. Would have been served quicker if one of the two bar staff on wasn't chatting to friends at the bar!!

I visited the North Star bar for lunch with the family 5 of us, we each had a different pizza& sides & the food was excellent .. the pizzas thin & crisp & full of flavour & the sides were very good as well, I would definitely recommend North Star if your visiting Falkirk rather than pay over the odds elsewhere defo worth a visit.

Value for money 100% one of the best pizzas we have ever had second time we have been and be back again!. No idea why it is not heaving in this little gem! Top notch! Well done staff are friendly chef is QUALITY. Thank you again

Visited here multiple times. Food is great and well priced. Good atmosphere all day long. Suitable for kids in the afternoon and perfect for a family lunch. At night the bar is lively and has great entertainment and serves a vast range of alcohol. Definitely give it a try!

A friend noticed a Groupon deal for North Star which featured two pizzas and two cocktails for a really good price.Thought it would be too good to be true but it wasn't! The pizzas were really light and and delicious. Good range of cocktails too.The range of pizzas is interesting - some I had never seen before. Can't believe how quiet it was especially as this deal was on - but it was midweek.I would definitely go back.

Very friendly staff, good selection of beers and very cheap pizza, winner! Very good find. Nice and quiet in the bay, Buzzy on an evening. You don't need your best frock on in this place, it's cool and fun, not pretentious at all.

I've been to some live gig nights here. All is well. Staff and customers are very friendly. The pizzas are a little bland but really good cheesy fries! Usually have a number of fairly priced lagers on tap.WiFi works well

Recently moved to Falkirk and have been sampling some of the local eateries. I have walked past this place a number of times and it felt inviting, I finally got to visit today with my better half and two kids under 4.At 2pm, the North Star was very quiet, but we found the food and service to be excellent. The best pizza I have had in years, packed with flavour and some really interesting toppings on the menu.The service was friendly and not intrusive, and the beer was cold. The environment was comfortable and welcoming with something of Edinburghs City cafe and Glasgows Nice and Sleazy about it.This is my new favourite place.

Stumbled on this place, the other night, so, being nosey, and hearing live music, had to investigate. It was around 10pm on a Sunday evening, which, in the area, is usually a quiet time, but, this place was very busy, a mix of all ages, plus the bonus of a live musician, who, with his guitar, played an acoustic set, again, covering a broad spectrum of music, with something for everyone. Drinks are reasonably priced too. There is a food menu, which consists of fast pub food, pizzas etc, however, the food is reasonably priced too. Kitchen closes at 10pm, so, missed out on the opportunity to try it out. Will come back, give it a try, and report back.

I've visited here a couple of times for weigh-ins for an mma show, so not a normal night. But seems a popular bar, friendly staff with a decent selection of drinks. I'd agree with some of the comments on here about the decor, I couldn't really figure out what style the were going for.Pizzas were tasty but service a bit slow.

Two excellent pizzas plenty of cheese with a really good base- and not to over the top but it's was the best I've had in years!!

I'm sorry I had to rate this establishment as average because the pizza was absolutely superb and the service was pleasant, professional and attentive.Let's start with the good stuff. We received a friendly welcome and the bartender, who was also waiting staff, was very efficient and brought our cheap bottle of wine in an ice bucket which was a very nice touch! I'm not an enormous pizza fan but I had been told that this was the only restaurant in Falkirk with an authentic pizza oven and I have no reason to doubt this! There was a wide range of pizzas to choose from an I chose an haloumi, olive and basil job whilst my companion chose a more generous pizza with extra toppings of anchovy, olives and sun-dried tomatoes. I loath those thick, doughy pizzas that my husband seems to like and I was relieved to be served a beautiful, thin, crispy crust pizza garnished with oodles of freshly torn basil - it was superb. My friend's pizza was equally good and neither of us was able to finish our food but we were happy to take our leftovers home in proper pizza boxes which our server was happy to supply. Oh dear, now to the negatives. The actual restaurant/bar is dismal. It's utilitarian and unwelcoming with gloomy lighting and no atmosphere whatsoever. There's some curious stuff on the walls which doesn't explain any sort of concept. The 'ladies' was an absolute shambles with the hand basin hanging off the wall-it's possible a refurbishment may be planned but if so customers need to know! I was also a little put-off by the fact that it seemed that the bartender's friends seemed to congregate at one end of the bar where they socialised with him between customers and the other customers had to compete for attention. Ultimately, however, I was disturbed by the fact that two men entered the bar and were served alcohol when it was clear that one of them was already very drunk. He staggered to a table. spilling his drink and proceeded to be very loud and disruptive. That was our cue to leave.It's such a shame to have such a superb and unique product, not available anywhere else in the area and then undermine its potential by failing to develop a cohesive identity and allowing drunks to alienate potential regulars, Such a shame.

We bought a groupon for pizza & cocktails, and were not disappointed. From the outside it looks like a basic pub/cafe however the pizzas were delicious & the cocktails amazing! We would also recommend the cheesy chips! The barman was really friendly and the atmosphere was great. So much so we intend returning & taking our family to sample the pizzas & cocktails.

As a family we stopped for lunch in the North Star Bar and we were made to feel very welcome. The choice of pizzas was very refreshing; not the same old choices you see in every pizza joint in town.I had the "New York New York" and for meat lovers out there I would heartily recommend it (though through personal choice next time I would have an extra topping of chillies".Very good value for money (and if you have a Taste Card its even better value)

There are loads of restaurant chains nearby, but this place is special. We went in for beer and pizza. First we had a great choice of beers and lagers to choose from, then we had the pizza menu (two for one deal applies) The pizzas were different than the usual ones that you get in the chains.Great food, great beer and great atmosphere!

Great for live bands as its not to big or small so its gets busy pretty easily, great homemade pizza!! average kind of music Friday and Saturday nights, well worth a few pints...

Every middle of the road place seems to offer an array of menu options these days. Pubs have ridiculous menus that just don't hit the mark. Along comes a place like North Star who have obviously decided to do something simple like pizza and wow they certainly do it well. Yes there was a little wait but when you cook something this well I'm happy to spend those extra few minutes waiting. Will be back here without a doubt

Came here for a hungover Sunday munch as I got 50% off on my Taste Card and it did not disappoint. Best carb and cheese overload I've had in a long time. Simple but tasty pizza. Will definitely be back.

Get the Gandolfi pizza. If you don't like goats cheese or black pudding - it will change your mind. I keep going back for more.

Booked a table for 2 for 8pm. Got there early and barman said to grab a seat and he would come and take our order. 4 'girls'came in, barman beelined for them and served them. We would still be waiting if it were left to him! Cocktails were good. Pizza was excellent. Shame the last round of drinks didnt arrive as the barman decided his pizza was much more important than customers drinks.

Went there for the first time on a Monday night, great experience, service great and pizzas fantastic! Decided on the Saturday night to get a take-away. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Couldn't get in the door for people in the doorway smoking, finally got in and couldn't get to the bar for underaged drinkers. Eventually got served and guy behind the bar was useless, had no idea what was going on or where/how long my order would be. Ended up waiting 20 minutes after I was told my order would be ready. Ended up walking out, will not be back!

I went along with a friend for the Groupon deal: Pizzas and Cocktails. The pizzas were delicious, we tried the Pizza Verde and Hamra Street, great value. We also had a side of chips and garlic mayo - the mayo is a MUST try! The staff were really friendly and attentive and we had a super, relaxing evening. The bar also does Real Ale by the bottle and even played one of my all time favourite Lloyd Cole and the Commotions songs, so all in all I was a very happy customer. Will definitely go back again!

Horrendous service. Placed order at 610....was told maximum 35-40 min for delivery.... 2 phone calls and 1hr 30 min later it arrived.... Freezing cold pizza and soggy chips.....congratulations north star.....

went Christmas Eve with familty and friends for pizza and cocktails. excellent service, delicious, freshly made pizzas and as i was driving the staff very kindly made me French martini Mocktails. great value and food far superior to anything else i've had in a Falkirk eatery. will certianly be returning and would highly recommend this restuarant/bar.

First time in the North Star and was greeted well by the one of the staff who looked after us and was enthusiastic and cheerful, The place looked very nice and cosy. ordered two cocktails while we decided what we would have to eat, they arrived and looked and tasted fantastic, ordered two pizzas and another two cocktails. The freshly made pizza was fab, a plain margarita with mushrooms and a spicy Vesuvius, both were excellent. another cocktail quickly followed. The staff made sure we were fine before during and after and our meal and ensured our glasses were not empty for long. all in all the quality of the food and drink was excellent and the staff were very attentive to our needs and even when the young girl was finishing her shift she hoped we would enjoy our night which was a nice wee touch.I was really surprised with the place and would return without hesitation as I found it a pleasant, relaxing and friendly atmosphere.All in all a wee hidden gem that we took a chance on.

Myself and Kids recently took advantage of a groupon deal in North Star Falkirk/ Rialto ( 2 12 Inch Pizzas and 2 cocktails) for £15:50. This proved to be absolutely fantastic value for money. The pizzas were delicious- fresh oven baked pizzas with various kinds of toppings on the menu. We opted for the Vivono Per Sempre ( Fresh Chilli, goats cheese and onion) and also the Vesuvio ( Spicy chicken, jalapenos and pepperoni) we also got a side of chips with gorgonzola cheese and garlic oil drizzled over the top which was a very nice touch.The cocktails were just as delicious as the pizzas! Myself and son opted for the Cosmopolitan and Appletini. These were so tasty we opted for another two!The deal certainly offers great value, however we did notice that the pizzas are buy one get one free even without the coupon. Overall, a friendly and warm bar with some cutting edge artwork and good music early evening... as we were leaving the evening began to get busier with a popular dj playing.A must visit!!

Awful place. Too loud, nasty crowd and generally unpleasant staff. Avoid at all costs. It was a genuinely unpleasant experience and I wouldn't go again if I was paid

Went here on Sat, by chance, prior to Rod Stewart concert. Everywhere was very busy so just popped in here. Pizza was excellent, 2 for 1. Thin crispy base, just how I like and HOME MADE skinny frites, so good . The place had a great atmosphere, very eclectic , not plastic and manufactured like most chain restaurants. Will definitely be back

Went to North Star for food before the Rod Stewaart gig , and what a show the staff really done there best under pressure , the food was amazing and service the best had to wait a while but to be expected when so busy , could see the staff under major pressure but still doing there best under major strain and some unpleasant customers , can definetley see this pub is the owners pride and joy with the quirky decor

There's pish. Then there's this place. Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Shocking. Still sitting here waiting on my pizza 50 minutes from having ordered. Not even had my friew which I ordered as a starter. Can't tell who's here to hang out or who is serving. Never coming back. Poor show.

Found this little place by chance - popped in for a cocktail ended up staying to eat pizza.. Excellent service, 2 for 1 deal on pizzas was great, a third off cocktails Mon-Thurs. Pizza was superb with generous amount of topping. Was a bit cold, heating could have been turned up a bit but otherwise excellent experience and barman/waiter was a real gent!

Walked in to the bar to then be accosted by patron who then decided to invite me out for a fight! really what has happened? North star used to be a great local pub but it seems that it now caters for Neds and chavs. Seriously avoid this place at night it will only end up0 in trouble. however what i cannot fault is the pizza it is second to none but be sure to go during the early afternoon to avoid all the flotsam and jetsam that invariably haunt the place.

From the doorway onwards it is obvious that this restaurant is the owner's labour of love ... by someone who cares about quality and ambiance and music and food. In a world being consumed by Pizza Express and Costa and Nandos I think this place is worth going out of your way for. Quite, quite special. (It deserves a better photo by the way.)

I have visited this bar with friends to watch a friend playing there but if he was not there this wouldn't be a bar I would go to normally. The toilets are disgusting an very small, I am always a bit scared when I go in there.A few times I have been in they had run out of the alcohol me and my friends were drinking.The decor inside is pretty cool!I've never tried them but I have heard the pizzas are very good!

I like north star but you can't seriously give it 5 star reviews. in the style of a cafe bar it's decor leaves you wondering what decade you are in... Could be any one of 3. The pizzas are very good. The 241 value is great. The staff friendly & helpful. But it's not the destination for most & there's a constant throughput of folk having a drink on their way to somewhere else. maybe holding on for the next place before visiting the toilet would be a good idea... Regardless of the dodgy loo I keep going back!
