Gambero Rosso in Falkirk

Very disappointed with the service, 1 waiter in particular was very rude, not a relaxing atmosphere, background noise was unbelievably loud, felt we were being rushed to get out, presented with bill before we had finished our desserts !!! Will not be back.....

Terrific italian food and staff are first class and made us feel very welcome. Great atmosphere and plenty of space to enjoy your food and time without being too close to other tables. Brilliant

Great Sunday lunch: all good quality, good portions, good value and good service. Can't ask for more, really. Nice sitting next to the canal too. Liked that all the staff were speaking Italian to each other. Believe it's Scots-Italian owned too.

We came here for a quick meal and felt like family. Returned the next night. This place is a little slice of heaven- don’t miss out if you are near.

Booked here for dinner with different friends. Come here regularly because of the good food and excellent service. I usually start with minestrone soup a favourite along with a foccacia mozerrella extra cheese. For my main I have penne carbonara, my friends have spaghetti bolognese, sometimes pizza or melon and prawns. I finish off with coppa fragola, icecream with strawberries. A mix of a variety of flavours each more complementary than the previous. Would recommend to anyone and will keep coming back.

We were out walking between The Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheel and decided to pop in for some dinner on the way back. It was still earlyish, so we managed to get a table without booking. The restaurant soon filled up shortly after we arrived. The staff were great and the food was amazing. There were some big groups in, so ideal for special occasions. Hope to come back again soon to try some more of the menu.

Good food and lovely restaurant but the staff here are just plain rude, and not in a quaint Italian way. They are just off. I suspect, as is often the case with poor staff attitude, that management may be the issue. It feels like a top-down toxicity that runs through the place. It is a shame as it has the potential to be the best restaurant in the area.

We pretty much lucked into this place - a group of Americans looking for a quick dinner before bed/an early flight the next morning - food was super, service just as good - Atmosphere was very traditional Italian, and that was spot on - prices were very fair for quality of food, and the quantity was just right - cannot imagine I'll ever find myself in Falkirk again, but if I do I'll gladly return for a meal!

Have been coming here for years and i have never had a bad meal. Food is always delicious and staff are always friendly and helpful. There is a small outdoor seating area for when its sunny which is rare but so lovely sitting by the canal when its a sunny day. There is also a carpark which is handy. Would highly recommend

Great Italian food in Falkirk this trip. Well prepared, not over-sauced, and authentic. Attentive and patient service. (We had a large active contingent of children.)

The food was fantastic, however the service was very poor, we had a table of 12 for a family function and from the start of the night the service was abrupt and hurried.

A gem of an Italian, with a wonderfully wide-ranging menu. Starter, main and dessert were excellently prepared and delicious, finished off with a smooth double espresso. A brilliant restaurant, with fantastic food and superb value. The only shame was running out of cheese and panna cotta, but we will absolutely be returning to Gambero Rosso in the near future for another glorious meal.

First time we went we had starter and main and had no chance of finishing it main courses are very large . Now we share a starter usually brushetta which is good have a main each and then share their lovely ice cream with peach and raspberry. All food made very well the fillet is also a great choice. Walked on on a Sunday night. No booking and got a table for 2. Good welcome. Got drinks and we both ordered the lasagne and a portion of chips. It came in a cast iron dish bubbling away. Looked and smelt great. It was. Disappointed it came on its own. Thought there may have been a bit of salad or a couple of pieces of garlic bread! Obviously these are extras. Would definitely recommend and go back.

This could have been a fantastic spot to sip a lovely glass of wine, by the canal, after cycling past this place for a few weeks. Turns out we will never know, as we could only purchase drinks if we had a full meal. And I was told there was no outside catering. We were in cycling gear and would have been happy to sit outside, but the attitude to us trying to get drinks was poor. Customer service should be paramount and we'll just never come back to try the food. Nor will any of our friends. Its ridiculous to say we can't have a cafe culture in this day and age, literally anywhere on the continent would have been delighted to sell a few glasses of wine whilst we sat outside.

Booked a table for 5 at very last minute. Arrived and seated in a lovely spot. Food arrived very quickly and was absolutely amazing. I was shocked how busy the place was when leaving. Especially for a Tuesday. Staff were pleasant and attentive.

Food was good. Unfortunately the staff were off hand and not cordial, which made us feel uncomfortable. Very disappointing. No catering available for Gluten free diners, which in this day and age of allergy awareness of restaurants is disappointing to say the least.

First time my partner and i had been to this restaurant. Really nice atmosphere with a good buzz. Friendly staffand lovely food. UPDATE, we no longer go here, got to the point that there were kids running up and down the restaurant, huge tables of groups, which take over the place. In addition the waiters concentrate on groups who are regulars, fawning over them. Our last time we sat for 20 minutes and no one came near, we got up and left and have never been back.

Not much enthusiasm from staff. Quite a flat atmosphere . The monk fish was ..... nice (not worth the money though), and the vegetables and potatoes were cold. Disappointed. There are better places to eat.

Came here for lunch yesterday! Was very impressed all around. The waiter was polite and attentive, food and drink was served promptly and the meal was delicious. All for what I'd consider to be, very reasonable prices. Will 100% return :)

I thought the food there was amazing, really authentic Italian food, and tastes amazing. Service was a little bit off as a couple of times we asked for things like a straw or an extra drink, and it was completely forgotten (this was about 17:30 so it wasn't busy). But the staff were really friendly and interacted a lot. The atmosphere and setting was great, with lots of nice pictures of Falkirk, like the kelpies hanging on the wall. If you visit Gamberro Rossi, their chocolate fudge cake and ice cream is a must try. It is truly the best cake I have ever had. Overall the staff were nice but a couple of things were forgotten, the food was absolutely amazing for a very reasonable price, and the atmosphere was great, really felt like a proper Italian restaurant!

Our group of friends had lunch there yesterday. I believe that this is a regular place for many of us to meet up. The street is a bit industrial but don’t be put off by this as the restaurant is stunning inside! The food was excellent and the portions were extremely generous. A few of us had the sea bass and it was beautifully cooked. The two younger waiters were extremely kind, thoughtful and patient as one of the ladies has a food allergy. This was an excellent venue for a ladies get together as it has large tables and we had a fabulous time! Many thanks for looking after us so well! We’ll be back! ❤️👌

Wasn't open due to new lock gates installed at lock 5 at Gambero Rosso..

Waiter was very rude. Definitely not recommended for tourists! Your plate was literally thrown onto the table and you couldn't get your tasty food off. I ate shrimp because I saw them, but there was no taste at all. Didn't see a waiter during dinner. As soon as you put the last bite in your mouth, your plate was picked up as quickly as possible and you were given the next plate. We were outside again within 45 minutes. You get more service at McDonald's!

I love the food at this restaurant, but on this visit, the service was unusually slow.

Love going to Gambero Rosso great experience every time

I love the food here, excellent choice of hot and cold starters, Salmon Cornetto is a standout. Service has always been friendly.

We arrived, there was the waiter standing there. I said hello, that we have booked a table but we are a little bit early. He just stood there looking at me. So I repeated myself thinking that he didn't hear me or understand my accent. Immediately he gave me attitude(god knows why) saying yeah I heard you. My company also confirmed that he had a very bad attitude. When sat(my mood was already ruined by the waiter) my plate was dirty. I had second thoughts of telling him, I eventually asked him to replace it. He grabbed it angry, looked at it like I am lying and then proceeded of replacing it. He was the tall young Waiter with accent. I am never going back nor going to reccomend the place even though food was fantastic.

Excellent service and first class meals

Restaurant its self was fine, stood for a while before we got seated, kept getting glances off staff but eventually someone came, bar man kept staring at me while I was seated, floor manager bumped into my seat and didn’t apologise or acknowledge that he did, it was a harsh bump and obvious to feel, our waiter was perfect and couldn’t have been any better, floor manager was acting strange and kept standing beside us looking into the distance and kept glancing at us, we were also pointed at by floor manager to our waiter, just made us feel very awkward, I had a chip out of the top of my glass and cut the bridge of my nose on it, only a little blood, staff didn’t notice but I informed them and expected to have an apology or anything but nothing, my girlfriend stood up to go to the bathroom as I was still seated and the floor manager asked her if she was leaving?! That’s just plain rude, food was good though just a shame on the attitude

Booked a last minute meal. Arrived for our time slot. A couple minutes wait to be seated, no big deal. Shown to our table. Booked for 3 and a highchair. No high chair had to find my own. That's fine there was one close by. Seated with no menus. Had our drinks order taken promptly. Upon arrival of our drinks had to ask for menus. A couple minutes after receiving the menus our first initial server comes to take our order. We say sorry we aren't ready yet. Server huffs away. By this point one of our children's banged there head on the table and I'm trying to console her. The dour face server at this point shouts something in Italian in our direction. Comes over again and asks if we are ready to order. No we say he huffs away again. At this point we should have up and left. Miserable man needs to learn some patience. We ordered just mains as we felt rushed. It's a shame the old man ruined the service from the get go otherwise we would have ordered three courses. But no way we're we spending money with service like his. Which is a shame as the other waiter was brilliant. In my opinion we were judged from the offset. The old man isn't child friendly and we definitely won't be back. I think retirement is needed, it's most likely his business, so instead of showing face in the restaurant and being grumpy just stick to behind the scenes pushing paper. Or take up a customer service course.

Very busy and had to wait 40 minutes before we even got a menu. 6 people. Menu could do with bolder print as lighting dim. Could hardly make out what to have. Food was really tasty. Not much of an atmosphere.

This is our 2nd time here for dinner. I should have left a review last time. The food is delicious and good sized portions. I think their prices offer good value for money. Our food came out really quickly, but was fresh and prepared with care. Staff are great. Chatty and helpful. I'd happily come back again.

Food was decent. Not sure what it was but something just seemed off about the atmosphere, the service was okay but just felt a little awkward at times.

Best Italian in Falkirk! Always good to grab a lunch or dinner here. Service is good and has a very independent restaurant feeling. Always good to stop here during the summer months if you are walking between the Kelpies and Falkirk Wheel.

I've loved everything about this place! You feel the Italian family atmosphere as soon as you walk through the door, the food was fantastic! And the service was friendly, fun and very helpful! Cannot wait to go back!

Christmas lunch with colleagues, but no Christmas menu?! No big issue, for me. Food was fine, no more. Lacking a bit of innovation and creativity - safe food. Which is OK, but I thought £28 for 3 chunks of monkfish (which was well cooked) was a bit much. There were no prices displayed on the "specials" board, and when I asked about the monkfish, I was told "It's a fish" by the whacky Italian waiter. How we laughed 😕 Espresso Martini was room temperature, but was tasty. It's not a place I will rush back to.

4 of us went for lunch on Monday last week only another table of 2 in the restaurant. The waiter walked around with a long face even when he served the table there was no smile or chat . I've been to many Italian restaurants and this is amongst the worst for attitude.

Cannot wait to return. This was a last minute booking and they were able to fit us in on a Saturday night. Food, service and venue setting were fantastic. We absolutely loved it. We will be back in the summer. Thank you.

Went here a few days ago for my mother's 50th birthday. We were greeted by the waitress whose attitude was amazing, so kind and well relieved. Our meal and service were given by Bruno, who was spectacular, especially with our 7 year old in the party and made our evening celebration so much better. The food was incredible, decent portions, more than enough to fill you and plated beautifully.

Just been for a meal for my partners birthday just the two of us and from the moment we walked in we were made welcome by Bruno the waiter. Food was amazing and and extremely tasty the service and friendliness of Bruno was first class we will be back thanks again for a wonderful meal and making my partners birthday so special keep up the good work guys.

Great place for food. Staff were very cordial and cheerful. Service was excellent. I would recommend this place for family dinner and after work dinner. Desert was amazing with serene music and atmosphere!

Our family is from America finding food other than fish and chips here was seeming hard to do. But we found Gambero Rosso by looking out our Air B&B window across the canal at the restaurant and decided to give it a try. Needless to say we have no regrets we had a great experience from the time we walked in until we left. The four of us had different dishes ranging from Lasagna, Gnocchi,Frutti Di Mare,Gamberoni Peperocino. And none of us were disappointed. Thanks for a wonderful evening.

Had a bolognaise here that smelled like dog food, staff were rude and unprofessional, avoid at all cost.

It took a while for the waiter to come to our table, and also the cooking time was long. But the food was delicious and it was worth the waiting.

We were there Sunday lunchtime, the food was delicious but the experience was completely let down by the service and awkward atmosphere in the restaurant. The waiter looked unhappy, grumpy and was totally unwelcoming. He sat us in a booth right next to another table even though there was plenty of space in the restaurant, didn’t give us enough time to decide what drinks we would like so just asked for water. Didn’t ask what actual drinks we would like when he came back for our food order, I had to quickly ask before he walked off with the menus. The food came out really quickly, we had starters and mains. The whole meal felt extremely rushed and not at all laid back which is the true experience you will have when visiting/ dining in Italy. The waiters were stood at the kitchen hatch watching us eat which made our family feel very uncomfortable. Didn’t stay for coffee or more drinks as to be honest I couldn’t wait to leave. Overall, very disappointing as the food was lovely and I was looking forward to eating there. Never in Falkirk but even if we were, we wouldn’t be back.

Half the menu was unavailable. Didn’t take drinks orders until being asked 3 separate times, didn’t even have bottles of water. Food came out 1 hour after ordering and the main course was wrong. The service was then very rude so we paid for our starters and left. Won’t be back.

Food is always good and staff make you feel like part of the family

The restaurant is a very authentic Italian. The menu is extensive and the prices are good value. The food was delicious. However, the service we received wasn't the best! It felt as though we were an inconvenience! We hadn't finished our meal, but the staff had started to clear up for the night, including bringing in all the outside furniture. We didn't have to ask for the bill, the waiter had it already prepared. We felt uncomfortable, which is a shame because there is a lot to like about this place.

On a warm Saturday lunchtime, it was the perfect setting to enjoy a very nice seafood rigatoni and a Birra Morretti. The staff are helpful and friendly, and the food was exactly what I wanted.

Lovely meal for a family group. The food was delicious. The children's menu was limited, but they allowed my daughter to select an alternative pasta dish in a child's portion (it came with chips which was unnecessary). Service was friendly

Good food shocking service. On arrival nobody was attempting to take us to our table we stood at the bar for 5 minutes before someone spoke to us then we were told that our table was not ready despite arriving 5 minutes late due to roadworks when we got seated with menu's nobody asked us what we wanted for drinks then it was another 15 minutes before they took food order luckily the food was good . They were friendly enough but not enough staff on

This is a fabulous restaurant with authentic Italian cuisine. They have a fabulous menu and the staff are friendly and informative. The Saltibocca alla Romana one of the best we have tried. The food simply fabulous. Great place to visit as a couple or as a family.

Great meal, as is always the case when we go here. The food is delicious, and portions are big. Location by the canal is nice and staff are friendly. Best Italian restaurant in the area, IMHO.

hadn't been here in 12 years or more because our last visit we waited ages on our meal, asked twice for a second drink that never came and received the wrong bill. We returned in July and the service was equally poor, we felt unwelcome when we arrived having booked just 30 mins prior, we got our menus and drinks order taken promptly but waited over 10 mins for our food orders to be taken. starters didn't take long and we got our mains a few mins after clearing the plates, however my husband finished his drink just a couple of mins after our mains arrived and no-one came near us to ask if our food was ok or do we need more drinks. still the question wasn't asked when they came to clear the plates by which time we decided not to order desert and instead request the bill and leave. Food was nice however if you are considering eating here, I suggest that their are other Italian restaurants in Falkirk which are better and the service is a million times better - I certainly won't return.

What a wonderful find. The restaurant was recommended by staff at the nearby Kelpies. On a slightly damp Thursday evening this lovely restaurant certainly hit the spot. The staff were attentive and couldn’t have been more helpful. Having decided to share two different main courses, the food was plated up this way for us, rather than us having to do it ourselves. The meal was delicious, plentiful and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend.

We don't come here very often and decided to treat ourselves. The food is ok, but staff not particularly welcoming. The waiter who was en route to us with our bottle of wine decided instead to take a detour to approach customers arriving for their reservation - it was weird. Anyway when he eventually stopped wandering around the restaurant with our wine, he came over to us. Barely saying a couple of words and looking over at the couple on the next table, he served the wine. Will be reluctant to return.

The food here is very good but the service consistently let's us down. There is no effort from the younger staff to make you feel welcome. It's as if you are intruding. The older gentleman is kinder and more courteous. We sat outside and were given menus which we accepted and this indicated we wanted food. A young couple with a child arrived after us and were served first. Then the waiter finally came to us and said so it's drinks only? We ordered our food which was good but if you are two females of a certain age you are made to feel invisible and not welcome I'm afraid.

Nothing I could eat tried a pizza very sparsley topping it's either cheese or pasta no plain chicken dishes or potatoes or a simple salad

Lovely visit to celebrate a birthday. Restaurant is nice on the inside and is clean. Ordered 5 mains and 3 sides, received all quite quickly and with no problems. Waitress attentive & on top of drinks replacements, very friendly and chatty with our table. She even kindly offered to take some photos of us which was appreciated! Sorry didn't catch your name! Young girl, cool style, mullet hairdo. We always enjoy our trips to Gambero Rosso but this one was particularly good!! Thanks!

Food ok but service not great at all , waited ages between courses sweets forgotten and couldn't get anyone's attention to report issues, £28 service charge and £3 charged for an 85p coke

Fantastic restaurant, very easy to find and very friendly and helpful staff, food was amazing, unfortunately had no lobster on the night but there will be plenty more visits to this first class restaurant

first visit, it's slightly difficult place to find if you are not a local. on an industrial estate, behind a furniture store. Warmly welcomed on our arrival and shown to our table overlooking the canal. Menus quickly provided and our drinks order taken. Food arrived promptly and was piping hot. The Pasta and Bean soup was excellent, however the tomato based sauce with my main dish was a bit bland, no kick, no spice, no bite. The restaurant is very nice and pleasantly laid out, very quite when we were there only 3 tables occupied. the staff were attentive and pleasant.

Early evening meal with family for pre Mother's day which was excellent. Everyone in our party of 5 including one child enjoyed their food of choice. It seemed that clientele ranged from 8 months to 80 + and everyone was having a good time. Great ambience, service, authentic delicious food and flavours. Thank you!

Delicious food, freshly prepared and on our table in less than 10 mins, nice bright restaurant, friendly staff. Highly recommend! I had pizza with spicy Italian sausage and peppers- 10/10!
