North Beach Fish and Chips in East Riding of Yorkshire

For locals, wessies who come fort day, and anyone else make your way to experience and taste this awesome fish and chip shop cooked by the fabulous Vicky and her team. The fish and chips are gorgeous and the absolute best...try them and tell me I am wrong.

Not been to Bridlington for a while, just had to go back to our favourite fish and chip shop. Firstly, nice surprise to see Barry the owner on fryer , is wife was also on duty. A really nice couple, that no how to look after you. The fish and chips we were served were fantastic,lovely white haddock, great tastings chips, could not be bettered in my opinion. They were well worth the wait and the money. Won't leave it so long next time. Just next door is a great little cafe. Keep up the good work Barry see again soon.

Long queue to order and pay, then a ridiculously long wait for the fish and chips. Very small portions, the regular was more like a small portion and the small was more like a battered fish finger. Overpriced and overrated, will not return. Very disappointed.

Was stood in a queue for about 20 minutes despite only about 5 or 6 customers in front of me. The speed of service and efficiency is problematic here. The staff were all friendly enough and they encourage cash payments over card to help keep cash alive which was very much acknowledged and appreciated. People don't realise yet how important it is to keep cash alive. Fish was amazing .Chips not too great so overall an above average meal quality but let down by slow service. I would still recommend this place as most punters seem to like the food on offer.

Yet again perfect end to day Fish & chips at North Beach Fish & Chips. Came all the way from Birmingham again. Good weather and tasty meal. Nice one North Beach Fish and chips.

Best fish and chips anywhere!!! You’d expect less with a captive audience in the beach, but they are perfection, so much so I went back and told them!

Great location right on the beach! Food was delicious! Only voice is haddock or battered sausage so don’t go if you want something other than that. We had 2 mini portions of haddock & chips, a single portion of chips and 3 cans of pop & it was £25 so a bit pricier than usual places but it’s worth it for the freshness & location. Definitely recommend!

We were looking for a quick bite to eat before walking up to Sewerby and stopped here for some chips. The chips were really nice, not greasy at all, hot and a bit portion. Definitely recommend

Been today fish chips 2 cans pop chips fishcake and sausage for dog £25 fish was not fresh very gray chips looked like warned up frozen ones told would be 7 minutes thst was OK but food was swining in grease first and last time at this one

This is a great spot for a fish & chip lunch with seating - it’s directly by the beach, you can’t get closer to the sea and sand. We rocked up as a group in January and used the table parasols to hide from the usual Yorkshire showers :) Proper chips, loads of scraps and the best curry sauce - spicier than usual but in a good way. My 24 year old daughter finally tried her first battered fish; she loved it hahah! High praise indeed, well done. Thanks to the servers Leah and Victoria for putting up with our weird requests with a smile!

Seaside fish and chips, cooked to order and with traditional accompaniments. Not flash, just good quality ingredients and no mucking about. Honest and straightforward (and delicious) food. Perfect to eat the beach.

Excellent. Excellent I can’t praise enough. The fish is hot well battered and exceedingly fresh. A lovely outside seating area to enjoy overlooking the sea. A little in the costly side but you have to pay for the view. On a sunny day like today. Perfection.

The most disgusting food we’ve ever tried to eat. How can chips be so terrible ? First & last time we will go here. Chips hard, tasteless and inedible. So disappointing as expensive. Expected far better.

Have been lots of times when visiting Bridlington. Have always enjoyed meal until this time. The person before was given freshly cooked fish and chips, which looked good. They were also asked if they wanted a loyalty card. When we received our fish and chips, they were old and the batter had gone a dark colour! We weren’t asked if we wanted a loyalty card. Was this was because they saw us as day trippers (I was in a wheelchair). My husband had taken me to a table, otherwise I would have commented. I was so disappointed, I had looked forward to them ☹️ Now I will never go there again, after lots of years.

Tried this place for the first time today , the fish and chips were great but one member of staff was so rude , she's in the wrong job or needs some customer service training . There was quite a long queue waiting to be served and she was loudly complaining that she couldn't have anything to eat herself till "we get rid of this lot" she was rude , snappy and should not be front of house!

The chips are awesome and sausage really tasty and gravy really delicious and they have tables next to the beach . Good value for money ,freshly cooked.

Excellent fish and chips: light crispy batter, no soggy bits anywhere, chips were crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy inside. Apparently all cooked in beef dripping which amazed me because there was no unpleasant smell from the frying, just really tasty food. I liked the fact I could order a "mini" fish and chips as I usually find portions are too big from chippies. All cooked fresh to order and served with a smile. Much higher quality than I expected from a beach front kiosk! Face the sea, turn left and keep walking, past the north lifeguard station, until you reach the dog friendly beach - it's worth the walk.

Wow Wow Wow, best fish and chips in Bridlington (and we’ve tested a lot 😉) Perfectly cooked chips, lovely white fish with the crispiest batter and curry sauce to die for (yes, bit dramatic I know but you sooooo need to try it) Friendly hard working staff and a busy spot. Always wanted to try the fish and chips from here and wasn't disappointed. All cooked fresh to order. However, a tad expensive at £21.50 for 2 fish, 1 regular chips (shared) and a small curry sauce, hence the 4*.

We called in after a very long walk on the beach and we’re greeted by very nice staff. They prepared our fish and chips to order and were so helpful. They even gave our little dog a sausage free of charge The chips were well cooked, crispy on the outside soft and fluffy inside. The fish was coated in beautiful crispy batter and well drained. Exceptional food and service, I’d give them 10 out of 10 if I could.

Stopped in Bridlington to look at the sea after a long drive & wanted some fish & chips. They had just finished serving & were cleaning down ready to shut when we arrived but were happy to put the fryers back on & cook us fish, chips & mushy peas. They tasted absolutely amazing, the ladies were wonderful & so kind to go to the trouble of cooking for us when they had just finished. I would highly recommend this place. Best fish & chips I’ve had in a long time.

Been coming for years. Spent £23 on 2 fish and chips and 2 cans, 50p for a sachet of ketchup then had the cheek to charge for a tray. Wife went back for salt and vinegar and the staff were slagging me off. This place used to be friendly and food was great. Food was poor, potion size pathetic, was expensive and staff were rude. Never coming again.

Always come here when we visit Bridlington their fish and chips are superb. Called in today fish and chips twice small carton of gravy and peas £24. Now dished up in smaller cartons just a few chips and fish noticeably smaller. Wont be going back. Careful guys dont get too greedy customers will go elsewhere.

Excellent fish & chips fried in beef dripping the proper Yorkshire way. The business has to be congratulated for the clear menu that gives (approx) portion sizes so you know what you are getting with 'mini' or standard meals.

I've eaten alot of fish & chips from all over the country but these are 100% the best I've ever tasted. They're cooked in beef dripping which I think is what sets them above the rest.

By far the best fish and chips in Brid. The staff are really friendly and helpful. We come here every year and have never been disappointed

The fish and chips were ok but all the tables outside were taped off so you couldn’t use them. This is ridiculous because you are allowed to sit outside to eat, so there is no reason for these table to be closed. We think it’s because you don’t want to pay staff to service the tables, you are just out of order.

Excellent Fish and Chips. Moist, fresh fish in tasty batter, and the chips are perfectly cooked in beef dripping. The small appetite portion is good for a fiver. Just one problem. The service is exceptionally slow. Expect at least a 10/15 minute wait once you have ordered. Fish seems to be cooked only to order.

Ordered mini fish and chips , cooked to order , so waited10 minutes, kids were playing on the beach so was fine waiting. Bit into the fish and was raw in the middle , took it back and politely asked for my money back , didn’t get an apology young lady frying says , “oh I must have put a frozen one in by accident “.Didn’t get one apology, a young lady came from the side door and did a refund , and said it’s nothing to do with me I wasn’t here.Absolute shocking service , people make mistakes cooking , I understand that but the service after that was poor.

Ordered 2 portions of chips with curry sauce, a diet coke and a tea, surely the £10 i had in cash would cover this? Alas, no. The price came to £10.15. Luckilly they took cards. For the price the portions were small, the food was fine though. The tea looked like someone had wafted a tea bag close to a cup with hot water and milk in. I was contemplating asking for another tea bag but there was a queue of customers. No wonder there is no price list on display.

Waited a while for service,one young lady behind the counter was useless ,maybe nervous. The other lady was a star, Elliisia l think it was. Food cooked to order,not a problem with that. Trouble was chips tasted like they're been in chemical. Not pleasant. Fish nice but lightweight.Maybe should have gone back but given how long for waited initially l didn't bother.Not likely to call back in a hurry,but have certainly had worse elsewhere. It isn’t often that I give five stars for a takeaway, but on this occasion I could have given it six or seven stars!Premises appear Covid secure, with screens, markings for queuing etc. The fish and chips were gorgeous and well worth the money. I wasn’t expecting the quality of the food from a beach front takeaway, but, had to eat my words. Highly recommended and well worth a visit. Been to Brid many times, but today was the first time I had food from here, only because I’m too impatient to queue (can be busy on seafront). I’m glad I did today, best fish I’ve had in a long time, my parents said the same. Definitely will go again.All staff doing an outstanding job in these difficult times.

I have always avoided this place in the past as it has no indoor seating. This year, with the pandemic and my reluctance to eat in restaurants, this was ideal, especially as it was a nice sunny day. There was orderly distancing for the orders, which touch place behind safety screens. There is a limited number of picnic style tables adjacent which are well spaced out. The fish and chips were superb. By far the best we have had anywhere this year. The cod was beautifully cooked in a nice golden batter and was a perfect size, not too large but plenty big enough. The chips were a nice golden colour, nicer and crispy and not too greasy.

In Bridlington in our opinion, lovely white fish and not greasy nor are the chips. Seating area which is nice and a good view over the beach and sea. Would definitely recommend a visit here plus the qeues tell you how nice they are.

Loved this place and what a location! Seemingly always popular and for good reason. Reasonably priced and big helpings. We were a very satisfied family. And, I say again, what a location!

Another trip to Brid today and another great fish and chip lunch from this place. Found it last year through TA and never looked back. Staff are always friendly and food good. They have a few tables but if there full you can ask for take out and just walk a couple of minutes onto the cliff top and sit on the grass or the many benches. The young lass serving today showed really good customer service. The Order for the group in front of us had one meal too many on it (three people and four meals). The lass realised this and ensured they got a refund of the cost, she didn’t have to, they hadn’t noticed! That’s good honest customer service.

Very popular, with picnic tables to sit and eat at. They cook in beef dripping if that makes a difference to you.

Lovely fish and chips, very different curry sauce, it had a sweeter taste and a hint of tomato or something. Not your average curry sauce.

My favourite holiday visit by far! Lovely chips, golden batter and love scraps. My family love this place and we’re disappointed to think it may not be open. Lucky for us google was wrong, open for business. Great lunch, we’ll be back! (Half eaten mini portion in my photo!)

First time trying here and won’t be back I’m afraid. Found it pricey for a take away and the fish was overcooked and rubbery. Pretty disappointed, no bread cakes/bread and butter either. Birthday treat that would’ve been better elsewhere.

Visited Saturday 18/07/2020. Average Fish and Chips. Mushy peas tasted salty (no salt was added to these by myself). Customer service was rather abrupt and rude by one staff member who was the one a turquoise blue t-shirt shouting orders to other staff members. I think she wasn’t happy due to the fact they had an influx of people turn up at around 6pm and I overheard something being said about they were trying to close (but it says on google they close at 7pm on a Saturday). Only came here as they accepted contactless payment and the other Chippy at opposite end was cash only, we won’t be returning.

Fish and chips ok, not the best I’ve had. £1.30 for a can of pop you pay @35p for even with surcharges that’s disgusting and pure greed!

Popped to brid with my kids late on a Sunday pm for a bit of a blast out in the sea air. Super impressed with this service. Order online, no queuing and collected at my alloted time. Lovely hot food. In these difficult times this fish shop is leading the way. Will definitely be my go to fish shop from now on.

Chips dry, didn't look a bit appealing, and extra brown bits of chips within them which had obviously been cooked over and over. Will never go back.

After a lovely walk on Bridlington beach we stopped at North Beach Fish for a fish. Its possibly the nicest bit of battered fish i have ever eaten. The fish was fresh and the batter was extremely light and crispy. I'm afraid I cant comment on the chips as I didn't have any. My fish was cooked fresh from ordering, took around 5 mins. The staff were friendly and attentive.

Me and my partner came for the first time walking our dogs last Thursday we had fish here we Came to the shop at 2.40pm girl on the counter made it quite clear she wanted to go home but the fryer was lovely and said she would never turn a customer away ordered a couple of fish and the batter was lovely and crispy, beautiful fish. Amazed how you can have two such different members of staff, one who was prepared to put herself out and another who was disinterested many thanks to the lovley professional fryer who made us and our doggies the best fish in town

Visited on Friday just before closing and the server came across unhelpful and rude (seemed like she just wanted to get home) , the helpful fryer and the quality of the fish redeemed what would have been an unpleasant experience for me (I nearly walked out and took my money elsewhere). The female fryer was really helpful and polite however the server needs to work on her people skills as you can not talk to people like that in a customer service job (I know that as I work in this field and I would be disciplined if I did that)

Bought fish and chips for the family as a last minute decision and we were very pleasantly surprised by the lovely young lady on the till who was very friendly and efficient and by the flaky freshness of the haddock we were served. The fish was beautifully cooked in a nice batter and very tasty. We’ve often walked passed but have never bought anything but in future we wouldn’t hesitate when the smell gets our tummies rumbling.

We sat on one of the many wooden benches overlooking the sea to eat our fish and chips. Having owned a fish and chip shop in the past, we are aware of how hard it is to "get it right" so we always take this into account when reviewing Fish and Chip Shops. This place is always busy and everybody looks for something different but for me personally the chips could have done to have been in a litte bit longer (as I said, personal preference)

From the tempting smell of the fresh cooked food we were hooked (excuse pun!) as we decided to have a late lunch here as a family on our first day in Bridlington. Essentially, go nowhere else for your fish n chips. The fantastically cooked fresh fish wrapped around the crispy and flavoursome batter accompanied by mushy peas and what has to be the best curry sauce I've ever had. First class and friendly service capped off a wonderful experience of eating by the sea shore looking out over the beach. I would recommend unreservedly.....we also went back each day of our holiday!
