North in Sunderland

Honestly never had a fish pie like it. Was super delicious and I’ve been raving about it ever since. Sure I’m probably not the most adventurous when it comes to seafood, but if I was I’m sure the other well-presented dishes would be equally as nice. Service was spot on too.

Esta fue nuestra 5a visita a North I una vez más la comida y el servicio era de primera clase. Decidimos aprovechar su oferta de Filetes y todos decidimos tenerla. El pobre chef debió pensar oh no como todos querían que se cocinara diferente. Sin embargo todos cocinamos nuestros filetes a la perfección. Sin duda vale la pena probar North si nunca has estado. Gracias a todo el personal por una noche fabulosa. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Tuve que aprovechar la oferta de £ 20 en uno de mis establecimientos favoritos. Si busca comida estándar de la ciénaga, medioca busque otro lugar. Este lugar lleva a los clásicos a otro nivel. Opté por el pastel de pescado con guarniciones de wok greens y chirivías de arce y comino. Mi compañero el filete, papas fritas de parm & trufa y brócoli al vapor. Sí, un montón de buena comida quailty por el precio. El pastel de pescado no se parece a ninguno que haya probado y puedo decir que ahora será difícil volver al plato denso de crema revestida que una vez asocié con este favorito de la hora del té. Esto era como besos del cielo patoto top tan ligero que era como nubes y un relleno que reventaba de sabor con cada bocado, no pesado no denso absolutamente soñador. Las chirivías humildes algo de lo que personalmente me enorgullezco de destacar en la cocina me pusieron en vergüenza y el lado terroso del sabor de las verduras wok de nuevo dando nuevos niveles de sabor. El filete se cocina a su gusto y no tímido en tamaño con una selección de dos salsas fue bien recibido del socio junto con los lados. Los lados como la red están bien pensados, no algo solo tirado en el lado como la mayoría de placea como un pensamiento posterior. El ambiente, la comida, el vino y el personal son por lo que seguimos regresando. El valor de esta oferta bien vale la pena, no será capaz de superar la calidad y el valor. Escenario perfecto para la noche de citas o incluso para los galenos, si no solo por las vistas de la comida lo supera!

Cocina talentosa - todo lo que pedimos tenía sabores audaces y estaba bien preparado y presentado - pero como el menú es de platos pequeños lo ideal sería presentar una gama de opciones que se complementan: cada plato era excelente por sí solo, pero encontramos poco sentido de un panorama más amplio, y algunas cosas chocaron. Además, el servicio era sobre todo encantador, pero un poco áspero alrededor de los bordes. El vino blanco que pedimos fue servido a temperatura ambiente, aunque en hielo. Mucho para gustar, pero un poco incoherente.

He estado en el norte un par de veces. Se pone mejor cada vez. La comida es tan fresca y tiene sabores hermosos. El servicio es genial. Sin quejas.

Really really great evening at north! Staff are incredibly friendly and the food is top tier! Was there last night with my husband and another couple and we were all blown away! Oysters are great and Sunday menu was great!

Visited North on a Saturday afternoon for lunch with the family and we absolutely fell in love with the place. Located on the seafront with a stunning view of the beach, fantastic service, and delicious food, our only regret was not visiting sooner. Between us we ordered the mussels which came with fries and rye bread, the crab meat eggs benedict and the steak and egg skillet hash. Every dish was pure perfection, generous portions and arrived promptly. I rounded my meal off with a delicious espresso martini and we were planning our next visit before the bill came. If you enjoy good food, North is the perfect place to sit and watch the waves crash on the beach.

I visited with my 6-year-old daughter, and we had a fabulous time. The staff were friendly and relaxed, and the food was outstanding. The Sunday lunch was beautiful, followed by a homemade peach sorbet that was to die for. Highly recommended!

¡Brillante cena de domingo hoy en su primer servicio! Encantadores entrantes y cena de clase, porción muy grande. Carne y toda la verdura cocinada perfectamente.

Fuimos a North al mirar sus redes sociales y ver lo encantadora que se veía la comida. Sin embargo, nuestra experiencia fue completamente diferente a lo que esperábamos. Al llegar nos informaron que algunos de los platos y artículos de desayuno estaban disponibles, que estaba bien, elegimos alternativas. Esperamos una hora por nuestra comida, el restaurante no estaba ocupado, así que no puedo imaginar cómo es cuando está ocupado. Tengo el hachís y mi compañero tiene el hachís de caballa. No había 'hash' al respecto. Era básicamente un tazón de patatas mal cocidas. Terminamos dejando la mitad de nuestra comida y previo pago expresamos que habíamos dejado la mitad ya que las papas estaban todas mal cocidas y no estábamos seguros de cómo se suponía que sería la comida mencionada. La señora que nos atendió básicamente dijo 'oh' y luego nos entregó nuestra cuenta. Estábamos bastante sorprendidos. No se hicieron preguntas, disculpas ni nada. Solo había dos servidores allí, uno estaba en la cocina la mayor parte del tiempo y el otro estaba frente a la pared lejos de los clientes. Definitivamente no volveremos aquí, la comida, el ambiente y la hospitalidad eran extremadamente pobres.

Esta es nuestra segunda visita al norte y no será la última. Cada plato fue perfecto esta noche. La relación calidad-precio es excepcional por la calidad que recibe. No habríamos cambiado nada de la noche. El ambiente, el personal y la comida eran excepcionales. Gracias.

Brilliant combinations of flavour and texture. Great menu. Lovely team. Fab location. Try it! Our favourite place by a country mile!

Visited on a Wednesday night without booking, but arrived so early that we managed to get a table. The menu has a good range of dishes. The steak and prawns were particularly good, but everything was delicious. The service was friendly, and the decor is cool. Best small plates I’ve had in the North East, and would definitely recommend.

This restaurant does amazing brunch and tapas. Everything freshly prepared and beautifully served. Excellent service and the location on the beach is magical.

This was our first time here and it won’t be our last. The service was excellent and friendly without being overbearing. We enjoyed the decor, though it is a little tired, and also the fact that you can see into the kitchen and watch the food being prepared. There is an amazing view over the beach through the plate glass windows. And now the food! It is small plates which are fabulous and also reasonably priced. We enjoyed all of the dishes we had (6 in total) and all were of top quality and flavour. You can’t go wrong here - well worth the visit; make sure you book first.

What an absolutely outstanding experience, Mitchell star cuisine at reasonable prices. We had 5 dishes, which is plenty for 2 people as the small plates are a reasonable size. Hard to decide which dish was best, as they were all excellent, if we had to make a choice, the monkfish and sea bream were outstanding. It's a really small venue with beautiful views over the beach, so definitely worth booking in advance. It's going to be a regular venue for the future

We had a great meal at North - fantastic food, great views, and very friendly and professional service. The surf n turf is fantastic, and we’re already planning our return visit to try the evening menu. Another gem found.

Came here with friends who recommended North. Small restaurant in great location -booking is essential for lunches and dinner. Loved the food here - so different. Small plates to share (if desired). There were 3 of us and we chose 6 plates with divine foccacia bread. We had king prawns, smoked mackerel, foamed feta cheese with beetroot, a gorgeous cauliflower dish and sea bream. All were really good. The bill for the 3 of us was £99.00 which included a nice bottle of wine and a couple of soft drinks. Menu changes were regularly which is great.

I wondered if perhaps has changed hands as like night and day the difference now sadly. We love it here and have recommended it but the last two visits I’m afraid are poor !! No Sav by the glass. No pale ale And the service gets worse We are always finished and plates cleared and then another plate will arrive which obviously we won’t eat

Just marvellous. Had been once before so had high expectations, but they were exceeded. Brilliant young staff, well supervised, so overall excellent service. Pre dinner vermouth and lovely reasonably priced montepulciano, topped by the after dinner bottle-aged Negroni. Never had this before two weeks ago at the Michelin star Hand in Flowers. North version was better for a fraction of the price😃 Oh yes….food. A bit limited on what I could try as on my own, but the crab arrancini, the North Sea cod, and the Korean spiced cauliflower were just perfect. All with a great view of the North Sea itself. The chef was shy about giving me his name but he’s clearly learned from some masters. Thank you North. I live in London but will be back asap.

I’ve not actually personally eaten here - yet ! but had great friendly service, we had a family 40th at the weekend and we wanted to suprise them , we found out they had a table booked and contacted the restaurant and asked if we could pay part of the bill up front and would the restaurant let them know as soon as they were seated, this wasn’t a problem at all and the staff did a great job making the whole experience really special, apparently the food is amazing, so thanks to the staff at North (dad &sue) 😉

The food is very good, the downside is they operate a table time limit which is not enforced, so you have to wait for your table to come free even though you have booked. The service is a little slow but everything is freshly cooked. Overall I would think twice before I book again.

What a nice meal! My partner and I had the North sharing platter and everything it had to offer was outstanding. The prawn sizzler, which was part of the sharing meal had the most juicy delicious prawns and we dipped the homemade focaccia in the garlic oil. Yum. The Halibut in white wine sauce was divine and cooked to perfection. The squid was tender and really tasty. The breaded cod bites were crisp, juicy and tasted very fresh. Perfect seasoning. The selection homemade pickles were a great accompaniment to clean your palate to ensure you get all the flavours of the great quality of fish. We loved it all. If you fancy a classy meal in a non pretentious and relaxed atmosphere without tacky decorations but clean lines to not be distracted from the great location. Look no further.

Overall the food was good. We had a selection of plates which on the whole were tasty and well presented. We thought that the prawns needed some bread to mop up the garlic oil, the scallops needed to be simpler and didn’t need the nduja sauce as it took away from the taste of the scallops. Service was very slap dash… wasn’t offered more drinks, check backs on the food or if we wanted anymore dishes. Would return but similar to Mexico 70, it could be better if more attention to service was improved on.

Came for Valentine's Day brunch. Nothing at all to signify this was a special day- not on the menu,( a sharing dessert would be good) not in decoration , like red hearts at the entrance for example, not even a rose on the table. The owner was in while we were there so it's not like he didn't know. Service v poor , was hassled to make a choice, ignored from the food being delivered until them clearing the table. Was hassled to leave after an hour and a quarter by them giving us the bill when I was halfway down my coffee. I had tried to get the attention of the 2 staff to get another drink for my wife and some more salt for their underseasoned meat. Despite having only 7 of their 8 tables occupied, there was no interest in customer service beyond the basic. The couple on the other table got up to get something themselves in the end after trying to get the attention of the 2 staff. I expected so much better. I reckon with a bit of decent service ,we could have spent an extra £25 on cocktails and dessert , but I think it was more important for them to get us out, so they could close on time.

We wanted to try out this restaurant as we’d never been. A good selection of seafood and other dishes. We had salmon as a starter with homemade foccacia, then cod bites with tartare sauce, feta with beetroot and pine nuts, and the list goes on! They also do their own cocktails and there’s a wine list. Great location, right next to the beach. No parking, but can park in the residential area just across the road. Staff were friendly and hospitable. We will definitely be back!

This tiny place right on the beach at seaburn is just fabulous. The tapas style small plates cover plenty of different dishes. More meat in the winter than mostly fish in the summer reflecting the seasonality of the fresh food. We were a party of four so we were able to try most of the menu. Every dish was beautifully presented and the flavours all complimented each other. The deserts were delicious too. A few photos attached. You have to book well in advance unless you are happy to do an early sitting on Wednesday otherwise there is a long wait. Couldn’t fault anything including the service and atmosphere .

Our second visit to North. Just as good as the first time, lovely, friendly staff, gorgeous food and beautiful beach views. What’s not to like?

Amazing food with a great view. Have visted many times now, last visit was brunch and was as delicious as all previous visits. It's very small inside so would book online. Staff are all super friendly

Very good food, very good service and the view is incredible! I had the black pudding rosti, which wasn’t actually a rosti but was delicious. Only criticism was that the Coke comes in tiny half bottles, which makes them very expensive.

Just wanted to have a Quick Look inside the restaurant and picked up the menu at the bar to be told the menu is on the wall outside, not much of a welcome , you’ve just lost 2 new customers

Great location , right on the beach. Very small inside with simple decor. Serves small plates only ar night. Food very creative and delicious. Serving staff are very helpful and pleasant however could dress smarter to suit the environment.

Visited North with my partner at the weekend. The food was absolutely amazing. Tapas style plates that were incredibly delicious. Cocktails were amazing also and the setting on the beach is ideal. Will most certainly be visit here again.

I have given North 3 stars as I have visited before for brunch and it has been lovely . Was today just a bad day ? Food was very mediocre, overcooked, dry and pretty tasteless tbh. I did mention this half way through our meal and server told the kitchen he said. I really dislike leaving a poor review , in fact I never actually do , especially as North is a small independent restaurant , which I love to support, but today was so disappointing unfortunately. The premises and views are beautiful but the food quality today was really not good at all. They did offer, very half heartedly, to take my food off the bill as we went to pay , despite it still being on the bill after mentioning it wasn't good earlier, but as we had eaten a lot of it , I did offer to pay which was readily accepted . I also feel that my comments were discussed and scorned by the server in the open kitchen , with the kitchen staff , as we were leaving . I was watching from the exit. I may be wrong here 🤷🏼‍♀️but that is certainly how it appeared to me as a paying customer. They were definitely laughing & making fun of someone / something as we were leaving. It looked to be us, as it stopped so abruptly , as soon they saw us watching what was being said. This restaurant has the capacity to be really lovely , but they need to watch the quality of food , taste & cooking of it and not get complacent, as there are many more good quality cafes / restaurants to visit in Seaburn just a short walk away .

Superb food in a superb setting. Contemporary decor in a renovated seaside shelter. Great menu and excellent service. Can’t recommend highly enough. Looking forward to evening menu soon. Brunch was 10/10.

We booked here for an impromptu dinner and we were certainly impressed. Firstly, the staff were able to offer us a table despite it being last minute. The waitress was incredibly knowledgable and gave the perfect amount of detail on the dishes and drinks. She was attentive, friendly but also gave us our space. The food. Wow. Next level. I personally think it has the potential to become a Michelin guide at least. We ordered basically everything on the menu. The star of the show was the king Scallops! Incredible. Left there feeling comfortably full and blown away. I hope the standard stays this high.

Lovely evening at North. Very relaxed atmosphere with super friendly staff. I had vegetarian options which were all incredibly tasty, beautifully presented and not like anything I'd had before. Generous portions too. Fabulous location with gorgeous views over the dunes and out to sea.

Libe seafood, then this place is a must. I really enjoy the small playe experience. Will try again in the summer to enjoy the atmosphere with the beach. The only problem is getting a table as the venue is so small!

What a little gem. Service was excellent as were all of the small plates we ordered. There’s something for everyone but especially fresh fish served in wonderful sauces. Great drinks menu too including cocktails. Well worth a visit and we’ll certainly return.
