Noor Jahan in Kensington and Chelsea

This is probably one of the worst Indian meals I have ever had. The quality of the food was terrible. The onion bhaji's tasted reheated and stale. The lamb was like tough mutton and the butter chicken and King prawn dishes looked like slop. Absolutely no effort was made in the food presentation. This is quite shocking considering this restaurant is in South Kensington. I've had better curries with better quality in food outside of London. Service wasn't great either as the first waiter missed the table and plate of food fell on the floor. Whilst clearing up, the waiter chucked the nan bread into the left over curry whilst still on the table. I don't think you would get that kind of restaurant service in a greasy spoon. We were also seated really close to the loos, which did not enhance our experience either, with the door opening and closing all the time. I used to come to this restaurant regularly about 25 years ago and thought we would try again but left quite shocked with the quality. Indian restaurants and cuisine have changed quite significantly over the past few years and I don't expect all restaurants to keep up with modern menus but they should give customers good food quality and great presentation, and sadly Noor Jahan did not come up to London standards.

Went for a day trip in London and spotted this. Food was amazing and all other Indian food places don't compare to this one. Would recommend and will go again.

Always great service and food. My go to place for a curry in Nottingham. Extremely good value every day. Staff recommending tasty dishes that I would usually get but now I order those from my more local takeaway

We had a wonderful dinner with our two daughters at Noor Jahan. The staff took extra special care of us, making sure to recommend kid-friendly options for our daughters who are still new to Indian food. We will definitely return!

Asked to leave after main course, refused to serve tea and coffee, as they “were busy and needed the table” , though no one waiting. We’d only been in restaurant one hour! Service very poor throughout

There is a reason this restaurant has lasted so long. We first came here thirty years ago. There is a large selection of dishes, the quality is consistent and the food never disappoints. The staff are helpful and the food comes relatively quickly even when, as generally, relatively busy. A really excellent local and reliable staple.

We have been looking for a great Indian for a while and unfortunately the search will still continue. The service in this place is attentive and professional, the staff are efficient and very friendly. Unfortunately they are completely let down by the kitchen. The Mixed Grill was small and completely overpriced, with all of the individual items being the smallest I have ever seen in this kind of a dish. The meat in the curries was totally bland, overcooked and dry and it had clearly not been prepared in the sauce it arrived in, but thrown in afterwards. The curry sauces lacked flavour and they were puréed/put through a processor. Overpriced and disappointing.

We were seated downstairs in a basement like room. The walls, cutlery, plates and table cloths were all visible covered in soot from the kitchen and maybe fireplace. A lot of us felt at unease eating there in a dirty room.

Been a regular for 25 years, both eating in and taking out - not any more. Seriously gone downhill. I ordered a takeout which was at best mediocre/ tasteless, overpriced and the boxes were only half full. There are so many good restaurants in london offering value for money, take your business elsewhere.

We have been going to Noor Jahn for almost 25 ears. It is a great local restaurant. Food always great and the staff are all very efficient and polite. Also good value. Great local Chelsea Indian.

Ehsan, Suhel, Meher, Suhan offered amazing service. They recommended some amazing dishes to start with which we’re all tasty. The drinks were all quick. The quality of the food for the price is really good would definitely recommend to a friend.

it's a classic in Kensington and it feels like they're coasting on their reputation and repeat customers. Attitude is a bit arrogant and blasé. Food was OK but not as good as the prices would indicate.

Amazing staff that put together a menu for us from sour preferences and it was very well done! The staff was very nice and were helping us at the right moments. Very good food. Really recommend going there!

Ordered Take away for dinner, price online was £58.50. When collecting,the boss proposed to pay £50 cash or £64 by card. I didn't take the food and I'm sure HMRC will love that behaviour

My husband has been coming to this restaurant since he was a baby. We just had lunch here. The food is phenomenal. Everything we ordered is so good, I can’t wait to come back here for dinner soon! The manger couldn’t have been nicer to us even offered us a complimentary dish

Prompt service but average food in classic curry eatery in great neighborhood. I had chicken saag (spinach) and shared rice and naan with friend, all washed down with Cobra beer.

Came her with parents. Ordered far too much food and it was all delicious. Had vegetable samosas, onion bhajis, aloo and then lamb, chicken biriani. Papadums were so good we had a second serving. Had plain naan which was probably a mistake as it wasn’t so flavourful but it was plain. Total meal for four with 3 beers was £120. Staff was rushed but pleasant and professional. Definitely will go back.

Called them to make an order and the person I was talking to was extremely rude. It was my first time ordering and so I was asking very simple questions like how many people does one order of butter chicken serve, does rice come with the order, how many nan bread come in one order, etc. The person replied by saying they can’t ‘scan my tummy’ to know how much one order serves and said he was too busy to answer my questions and told me to refer to the menu (very unclear menu). I called again to file a complaint to the manager about this service and once the person on the phone knew I was doing that they said ‘ugh go away’ and shut the phone in my face. I was so pissed I even created my tripadvisor account now just to complain. Please don’t order from this place, there are many other amazing local restaurants that have welcoming staff.

Pedimos y tardó 1 hora en llegar la comida. solo había 2 camareros, por lo que fue un ritmo extremadamente lento. Cuando llegó la comida, esperábamos que valiera la pena esperar tanto. pero el pollo y el cordero no tenían sabor. Pensamos que el pollo al curry tikka sería picante pero resultó ser muy dulce.

En nuestra última visita a Londres fuimos a este increíble restaurante indio y tengo que decir que nos encanta. La comida era absolutamente deliciosa y el servicio maravilloso, la camarera siempre tiene una sonrisa. El lugar es pequeño y siempre está lleno, por eso es necesario reservarlo primero. La comida era normal, excepto el dahl que era inferior a cualquier versión que había comido en mis viajes por la India. Las lentejas estaban trituradas, pastosas e insípidas.El restaurante debería dedicar menos esfuerzo al servicio (que es excelente) y más tiempo y esfuerzo a la cocina.

Walked in off the street News Years Eve without booking a table and the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The food and the atmosphere were lovely. I would definitely recommend this curry house.

Once again my wife and I had an excellent meal at Noor Jahan. It is one of our favourite restaurants in London and the best East Indian cuisine for our friends and us.

The food is tasty but also has quite a lot of butter, which makes it greasy. I would go there again, as the price is decent. I liked the Masala Chicken there.

From start to finish you will be impressed. High quality ingredients provide the basis for succulent Indian food. With a very strong following amongst the cognoscenti of Chelsea from regulars to movers and shakers (even the royals have been known to eat here from time to time), you can't go wrong.

Still the best Indian restaurant in southwest London and amazingly good value. Service is fantastic, be nice and they might let you order the off menu special lamb curry. If you like wine with your curry there are some great options with prices that are like going back in time.

And loved it, I didn’t think Indian food would be so delicious, if you like vegetables, try the side dishes, especially the spinach-cheese one..just jammie!! The only remark I have is that the place is really small, so you can literally listen and follow the conversations of your neighbors..

As I have been a client of noor jahn for 35 years it's seemed right to have my birthday there. Children, grandparents and all we have always had a special place for Noor. The food is cooked to order just as you ask and the staff are always ready to help uninitiated guests and are always on point with their service. You can take away but it seems a shame to miss out on those fabulously spicy scents drifting from the kitchen.

My wife and I joined my sister and some friends for dinner at Noor Jahan in July. Great service, good food, and very reasonably priced for London. Easy to get to with Uber or a taxi. Certainly something different to try if you're visiting London for a few days.

Posiblemente el peor servicio al cliente que he tenido en cualquier restaurante. Fui un martes por la noche con dos amigos y estaba un poco sorprendido de cómo rápidamente la comida llegó. Parecía como si hubiera sido puesto en un microondas. Cuando el camarero vino a darnos nuestra comida que le preguntó quién era el arroz pilau tener y le dije que era yo. Porque yo era la única persona que en nuestro grupo, él entonces poner todo el contenido del plato en mi plato sin preguntar y se fue. Entonces, él volvió con el pollo y hice exactamente lo mismo. I go to this exceptional curry-house with my friends, family and girlfriend and it is consistently the best curry available in London. The staff are extremely attentive and friendly, in addition to the most delicious freshly prepared food! Could not recommend it highly enough.

Frankly the food was well below par, we ordered two separate chicken dishes and the chicken was absolutely bone dry. It was as if the chicken had been pre-cooked, left in a fridge for days and then warmed up and dropped into the sauce. A sauce that was not fresh and tasted like it had been microwaved.

We come here regularly and the food really is fantastic. The only problem is that it's a victim of its own success and small size. Consequently, the staff, unless you're the last sitting of the evening, are always hurrying you along so they can get the table back for the next lot.

Estos pakistaníes, Bangladesh y Sri Lanka en la India la gente Nombre de restaurantes y no entretener a los indios. Un racismo! ! Sin duda evitar este tipo de restaurante.

Delicious meal. A bit crowded and noisy, and you get the impression the wait staff wants you to move on as quickly as possible, but a perfect place to get a good meal in the neighborhood.

Tesco microwave curry, undercooked chicken and yesterday's pappadams. Total disaster of food. Don't order house wine because it is distilled urine with radish. Service was good though, truth be told.

An absolute disgrace. Service was an embarrassment. Waiter dropped plate on me when collecting plates, no apology, just a glare. When it came to paying bill, total cost seemed a little too high, however the receipt was a handwritten scribble. When asked for breakdown, turns out the servers had overcharged us on multiple items, yet rudely and aggressively blamed us for them. After asking to speak to manager, manager was equally rude and didn't even apologise. Ended up as a shouting match between 3 of the staff and myself, in front of other customers. One phrase of "its only £5 why are you arguing about this?" really demonstrates how much of a disgrace this restaurant is. I dont care if it is 5 pence or 5 pounds, it is a matter of principle. Just because you use handwritten receipts, you cannot add extra dishes to the bill for fun and hope it isn't noticed. Then to behave the way they did when caught, it was unbelievable.This entire team needs a lesson on manners and customer service. The whole experience was an absolute farce. Really wonder how many un-knowing customers have been overcharged for dishes on handwritten receipts over the years...Also, I understand this restaurant offers a "cash discount" when ordering take aways? Not sure if this helps with tax purposes but sounds dodgy to me. In summary, stay away at all costs. No customer should be treated like this, especially at a place that charges the prices they do. If you do choose to go any, CHECK YOUR RECEIPT CLOSELY.

Most Indian restaurants are usually a feast for vegetarians. Surprisingly Noor Japan is very disappointing on this front. The veggi biryani was very disappointing. Conversely the chicken dish was very good. Atmosphere good, prices reasonable, service good. Busy place. Would return ....but can't really as my better half is vegetation and too little for her to choose from.

Great traditional Indian. My Chelsea favourite and I've lived in the area for 3 decades.Never had a bad meal here but had some real corkers.

We decided to come here as we remembered it being good a few years back. One guy that was serving us was very friendly I think he was the owners son but after receiving our mains we found a small black hair in the food so we complained and the owner came over and told one of our group that it was his hair even though he had long brown hair after arguing with us about it for about 5 minutes he said we didn't need to pay for that dish. I wasn't happy about it so we ended up complaining about the owner (terrible way to treat customers) also it was my mums birthday and we gave them a cake to bring out and they placed the cake on the table with the box of candles next to it, never ever have we been to a restaurant and they haven't lit candles and carried the cake out for us to sing happy birthday. We will not be returning and have been telling friends and family about the way the OWNER spoke to us, never have we experienced anything like it.

One of the (possibly many) underestimated small Indian restaurants in London. Excellent food, fine service, nice price. What more do you need? The korma dishes are perfectly spiced to pair with dry Riesling (whether or not this was the plan). Not exactly on the corner with Old Brompton Road, so you have to look north just a bit. Have never had a bad meal here; always good, actually. When you order takeaway, you can receive a small discount for paying cash instead of using a card. Extra nice!

Went there with an Indian friend who helped with me choose from the very large menu. Great food. Great wines. But one or two of the waiting staff were not very inviting: it didn't look like they wanted to be there!! And my jacket still smells of curry - after 12 hours!

Tried this local place that was near my hotel. There was an extensive menu and the food was outstanding. I had the grilled lamb chops which tasted fantastic. I thought it was very reasonably priced.

A decent mid ranging curry house, nothing stand out to recommend it above the pack, but on the other hand I can't really fault our meals or the service we received on the night. A safe bet if you fancy a curry in the west end

I went to Bina Gardens last night for dinner with four business colleagues. I was asked to order for the entire table as they had all approved of my menu choices previously. As per usual, the bustling waiters were efficient and all food orders were delivered without much delay. I ordered some papadoms as well as some other popular appetizers such as vegetable samosas, onion bhaji as well as some shrimps marinated in a spicy tomato sauce. For the main course, I ordered some chicken tikka masala, pilau rice, Bombay potatoes, some daal as well as some Raita. This was all complemented by some onion naan bread. We ordered some Cobra beer to go with the meal. The food was extremely tasty, the portions generous and the service was first class. I am a regular patron of this establishment when in London with a craving for UK style Indian fare. Highly recommend this South Kensington neighborhood icon.

Needed a table for two and we were put on a small table right at the back in a dark corner. The waiter seated us, took the neatly folded serviettes, opened them and simply left them in a mess on each side of the table for us to place on our laps! When our food came the waiter unceremoniously took the left over papadoms placed them on my wifes side dish, without asking. and then placed the main dishes down.The foid was good but the general manner of setvice was so brusque and offputting that it spoiled our enjoyment. To add insult to injury they automatically billed for service at 10%.

We ate here twice in eight days as my son enjoyed their Butter chicken and we were staying nearby. It is neighborhood place and off the tourist track. They also made something of menu for us which was sweet.Good portions and attentive service. I highly recommend!

The food is above average but the service is nothing to write home about. However, what I did not realise until I left the place is that they trick you into paying twice for service. First they put a 12% "voluntary" fee on the bill and then hand you the device asking if you would like to add service fee but fail to mention that it has already been added to the bill. I wonder how safe it is to eat food from people with such integrity or lack there off
