We as a family dined here twice during our one week stay in the hotel. I and my partner really enjoyed the food. Delicately made, pleasant to the eyes, delicious. Ask for the bread!!! They are to die for. The kids were not too keen but they catered for their needs which meant they also enjoyed the experience. Our second evening meal was my partners birthday celebration. The staff were amazing especially Ali, he and the team made the day really special. It was a pleasant surprise to my partner. Thanks to the chef. It is a very small restaurant so book in advance if you require a table. It is an expensive restaurant. I strongly suggest you go prepared.

We went to the grill as a party of 12. It was only us in the whole restaurant area and what it seems, in the whole hotel. The drinks are helishly expensive. We had to pre order the meals which was not great and still got messed up, the staff also asked us after our tiny portions meal (17.50 for a tiny slice of pork) if we wanted chips... which of course were to be bought separately, this was annoying as we couldn’t fully enjoy our meal until they arrived. All in all it wasn’t great. The lady who was serving us with a foreign accent was lovely and pleasant. That was the only plus of the night. Really over priced.

Without doubt the worst service I've ever encountered whilst dining out, being seated and having bread rolls served it was nearly an hour and requiring a chat with the waiting staff ("oh we thought the starters had been served already") before the pre-ordered starters were brought out, soup was cold, not lukewarm but actually to to the point I thought Gazpacho was what had been provided! Let's forget that the soup provided wasn't even the option that was down on the options when we pre-ordered (why make people pick a starter when you can't deliver it or have changed the option!). Mains - after another wait the mains arrived, well most of them anyhow as we were short of x2 fish dishes, we mentioned this to the waiting staff -more waiting whilst we waited for these, whilst also hoping the accompanying vegetables would arrive for everyone else....no such luck. It was at this point that x2 fish dishes came out and went to the table behind us who had arrived after us (not the first table to be served before us). I'd had enough by this point and went to find a member of staff, initially I ignored a timid looking lad who didn't appear to be staff as he was dressed more casual than I was, he was the manager James, I explained regarding the problems, the fish dishes and the lack of vegetables - be sorted right away was the reply. In fairness some veg turned up, one bowl of potatoes, one bowl of veg which obviously won't go around 15 people. Fish dishes turned up and some further veg accompanied them which by now was too late as everyone had decided to eat what they had before them and had finished by this point. It was about here that we'd noticed one table had upped and left, then another table left without paying - it was definitely not a one off and gladly following discussion with the staff we also explained that we wouldn't be paying.......In fact more like never returning! Oh and as for being told we don't serve Guinness to pointing out a bottle of it in the fridge behind the bar staff, to then asking for a Guinness and black to have to stand there and see the staff attempt/consider to pour blackcurrant in to the neck of the bottle.....really?

Whilst branded Noelle’s, this is part of the hotel in which we stayed. The scallops, lamb and beef were excellent and cooked superbly. The strawberries and cream was slightly disappointing consisting of 1 strawberry sliced and a strawberry flavoured ‘jelly’. Service was generally ok - when we asked for bottled water [as that provided both had a strong aroma and taste of chlorine], it was almost slammed on the table by the waiter with 2 glasses who then just walked away [not the fine dining service expected]. Overall, the food ensured an enjoyable experience.

Our experience here was amazingly dichotomous. In the bar, for pre-dinner drinks, it was mediocre in the extreme. We had to ask at least once for everything from menus to canapes, and felt like giving up being there almost an hour. We were not alone. However, it was as if we entered a different world upon being shown through to the restaurant itself, and almost all was forgiven The service here was so friendly and efficient. The food was well presented, tasty and of good proportions. A good selection of well priced wine, although there needs to be more options than french for wines by the glass. I would recommend this to you, but, for me to return, they do need to sort out the pre-dinner experience if they are to have higher aspirations, of which they are no doubt capable.

Went here for Sunday lunch, started with champagne as we were celebrating a wedding anniversary, champagne should have been cooler and it did lack fizz., unlike the red wine with the Neal which was cold hence no flavour. Sad to see frozen veg & the lamb was just two bites!!! The dining room was cold, in fact our party declined coffee as we were desperate to get back to a warm house. Also, and I know we were in Wales, but I was upset for my English guests ( we were all speaking English because of our guests) that the waitresses only spoke to the whole table in Welsh.

Once again, I forgot of the bad experience the previous year and I took my wife for Valentine. I paid £90 (£10 more) and the service was, once again, very poor. They have young girls working who, although they are very friendly and try to be professional, there is no one to supervise them. We had to remind them of what the menu included (we never got the hors d'oeuvre) and even after the meal, we had to ask for coffee and little sweets. Where was the manager I wonder. One of the main problems with this place is that management does not take responsibility and are extremely rude when I have addressed their poor quality of service. This time I mean it: never again.

I booked a table at Noelle's Restaurant for my husband's birthday. The menu didn't really do justice to what we had. The food was beautifully and artistically presented and guaranteed to make your mouth water. It all tasted wonderful (if I sound a bit over the top, I apologise but it really was that good!). Okay, it's not cheap but there's hardly any point going out and having a meal I could have made at home just as well and it was all the detail that had gone into the dishes that we appreciated. We were also given canapes and a little soup appetiser. So for presentation and taste 10/10. The service was excellent. The young staff are friendly but professional. We didn't have to wait long between courses. The dining room itself is a bit dated and the bar area unbelievably gloomy even on a nice summer's evening but that's not the fault of the staff and it didn't mar our enjoyment of the meal.

We ate at Noelle's recently for my partner's birthday and overall the experience was very enjoyable. We first booked at reception (we were residents of the hotel) and when we came down to dinner we were directed to the relaxing environment of Noelle's bar where we ordered a drink and were presented with a wine list and menu. Whilst we made our choices, we were served canapes which were very nice and the waiter took us through the wine list. After some 10-15 minutes we were taken through to the restaurant with a waiter hoping we'd enjoy our meal. The restaurant is simply visually splendid decorated in a swath of lush carpets, long curtains and beautiful pictures making it an elegant and very relaxing environment. We were taken to our table and my partner was presented with a small collapsible table for her handbag. We were first served a free pre-starter which was a broccili foam with red onion - delicious. My starter was the chicken live parfait which was smoother than any other parfait I'd tasted before. For my main I chose the chicken which was again equally as nice. Service was where Noelle's is slightly lacking although not through a want of trying. The staff were very young and attentive but too attentive. Coming over and asking if we'd like more wine twice in 10 minutes wasn't necessary when we'd not drunk any and our glasses were still full. Also when my main was served, the plate was presented at an angle so the sauce spread all over the plate, affecting the appearance of the meal. A little more thought is needed and although these are small things, everything should be of the same standard when serving food in such a magnificent environment. After the meal we were taken to Noelle's bar where we were served our petit fours ending a very relaxing, elegant meal. Our total was £113 for two and considering it included a bottle of wine, canapes, pre-starters, starters, mains and petit fours, I thought this represented decent value.Overall a really enjoyable evening, just need to work on the service.

The service was fine but although we sat down to eat about 12-30pm and the restaurant was closing at 4pm, it all felt a bit rushed rather than our coffee being served at the table we were ushered into the bar area to be served ,we felt this was so the staff could all get a way as early as possible.over all my party of 16 paid over £1200 for this meal and as such it was not such a Special occasion as we were hoping for.

We were looking forward to a first class meal in a first class hotel . We were sadly disappointed. Started with the loud piano music playing in the hall area which was clashing with Bing Crosby singing carols loudly in the bar area. Immediate impressions were that the place looks dated and tired and in need of a major investment. Our table overlooked the outside are where hose pipe was hanging up and staff were taking bins from the kitchen .Decor not stylish and tableware very old and used. Pink floppy polyester napkins do not create a good impression. Staff were all very friendly and helpful and were working hard. Service lacked finesse despite their best efforts .Canapes varied and unusual. Main course unremarkable. Veg served in one large bowl and looked unattractive. The plum tarte tatin was a triumph ! The food overall was quite tasty but lacked the edge of quality we have experienced in other counrty house hotels in the area . Staff were clearing tables and moving furniture before we finished our meal. Hotel was closing down at 4pm until 3rd January. We felt they could not wait for us to leave. We went to the toilet in the dark ! Not good value for money. 5 star prices for 3 star food and drink. £261 for three people was a lot of money for what we got .So sorry we won't be back. Could have been so much better.

We visited with friends for the Festive Lunch Menu which we downloaded from the hotel website. We booked two weeks in advance yet on arrival found that they seemed unaware of this. We were presented with a menu which we recognised as the evening menu but the waiter insisted that it was the lunch menu. We explained that two of us wanted only two courses and were told that we could have two courses for £14.50 but that three courses would be £29.50 ! While we were studying the menu the waiter returned and made no apology but said that we were right about the menu and showed us the correct lunch time menu. In the past we have always enjoyed a good meal at tre-ysgawen but this meal was a disappointment. My melon starter had several melon seeds left in it. The main course was acceptable but the accompanying roast potatoes had obviously been left over from the previous day and reheated and the vegetables were not completely cooked and were hard and inedible. The room was very cold but the heating was turned up on request.

Having been contacted by the manager following my previous critical review, my friends and I agreed to return, at his invitation, for a complimentary afternoon tea. This time everything was completely different. First, we were treated to a glass of champagne. Our choice of tea was then served promptly, followed by the food. This time, the sandwiches were served on a slate with enough for us to have two of each filling – ham, salmon or cucumber. The sandwiches were finger shaped and beautifully fresh, as were the fillings. Similarly the welsh cakes, bara brith and scones were served on a slate as were the selection of cakes, cut into ‘tasting’ size. The food was accompanied with a bowl of lightly whipped cream and of jam. Also served, in three individual glasses, there was a cream and black currant ‘dessert’ to finish. Finally, we were treated to individual bowls of fresh strawberries with yet more cream. In fact there was so much food that we were unable to finish it all but made a very good attempt! The question we then asked ourselves was, is this just for us or served to all guests? Our question was soon answered when other guests came in to the lounge. They did in fact get exactly what we had been served - less the champagne and strawberries. We therefore felt that the hotel had completely re-thought what they offer for their, not insubstantial, charge and were now giving value for money. We passed on our compliments to the chef and were told that, this time, the head chef had prepared the tea. If this standard can be maintained then the hotel can definitely be recommended for that ‘special ‘ afternoon tea.

Stayed at the tre-yasgawen this weekend 4th October. The hotel itself and spa is beautiful and I will write a separate very positive review about that... Unfortunately the same can't be said for the restaurant. We ate at the clock tower which is the informal dining area... When we arrived we stood at the bar waiting to be seated. .. The bar man didn't even acknowledge us. Granted he was busy, but to not even say hello, welcome us in or even say he wouldn't be long, then we wouldn't have minded. but to not even say anything in a customer facing roll is bad. After eventually being acknowledged AFTER 10 MINUTES we got told to sit where we want. We was going to order a starter until we heard the table behind us send back some garlic bread back which was burnt to a cinder, so decided not to bother, cracked straight on with mains. I ordered rump steak at £17.50. It was awful. Was suppose to be 8 oz. 5 oz of that was fat and Inedible. I have taken a picture to show just how much fat was left. ( just need to figure a way to upload it! ) When the waiter asked if everything was ok, i said not really, it was way too fatty. He just chuckled nervously and took the plate away. The food was so overpriced I was so gutted for a beautiful hotel. What a let down. There was a wedding going on downstairs and clearly this took main priority over anything else, as the clock tower seemed understaffed. We even had the smoke alarm going off at one point and the place was all smoked out.As part of the hotel as well we had breakfast in the morning. Which again was totally Inedible. The bacon was cold and the sausage was anemic, we had planned the morning of getting up early to climb mount Snowden and starting the day with a good hearty breakfast. However didn't eat the bacon as it was cold, and didn't dare even touch the anemic sausage as didn't want a poorly tummy walking up a mountain. Thank god for the strawberries. I feel so let down with the food at this hotel, and couldn't complain at the time as nobody seemed to care!!!

Excellent service from the waiters, the only complaint being that the menu is quite restrictive if you are a vegetarian and it is a fixed price which is slightly harsh considering what is on offer for vegies compared to Meat eaters. Having said that, the rest of the courses on the menu more than makes up for the disappointment of the main vegie dish. We would definitely recommend this restaurant for special occasions.

We had booked for afternoon tea two days ahead. Knowing it was going to cost us, 3 friends, £12.95 each we were expecting something special. Things did not start well when we were misdirected by a member of staff on entering the hotel. Eventually, we did find ourselves in the library where afternoon tea is served. I must say, somewhat awkwardly sitting on low chairs with a central coffee table. Things started well with the requested pots of teas being brought promptly. However, when the 3 tiered plate stand arrived, we could not believe our eyes. Quoting from their website ' selected finger sandwiches' looked more as though they had been prepared by a harassed parent trying to make a packed lunch before school for their child, from the dreg ends of an old sliced loaf with whatever filling came to hand. It could be seen that the bread was stale having that hard, crisp feel after being left out on a counter overnight. The fillings were unoriginal, ham, badly cut cucumber, left-over salmon or ? prawn cocktail. The 'freshly made cake of the day' turned out to be a stale victoria sponge cut into badly sized pieces. The large, flat scones, had been pushed on to the 2nd tier of the stand with the sponge cake. The welsh cakes probably came out of a packet and the bara brith did not look that special either. Furthermore, as the latter two items had to sit on the top small tier of the stand, only two pieces of each were provided for 3 guests. We had no alternative but to reject the food and had no desire to have a replacement. A brief apology was given by the waiter as the manager was 'in a meeting' and we were not charged for the teas. We had gone to the hotel to view and possibly join its spa however, the poor value for money and general indifference that we experienced has ensured that this will not happen. What we can say is that there are other places on Anglesey where you can get excellent afternoon teas for a quarter of the price but in no way can I recommend Tre-Ysgawen Hall.

On arrival, the Receptionist confirmed our booking and escorted us to the bar for a pre lunch drink. A person called Ali brought us the menu. Fixed price of £18.95 whether you had one, two or three courses. I politely advised him what I was told by the receptionist, but he doubted my word. I started to get annoyed. A big pow wow ensued and Ali eventually turned up and said that they never do this. That was enough. We left and found a decent place at Red Wharf Bay to eat I should have asked for my petrol money! My friends and I went for the five course dinner in Noelle's restaurant. At first the portions seemed small, but we came away very full, the food was beautifully cooked and the waitresses were very attentive. As you would expect from a hotel the drinks were dear though.

The last time we dined here, it was so much better than a previous occasion. It would appear that a change of kitchen chefs had taken place in the meantime. But on this occasion, which was for Sunday lunch, we were very disappointed with the overall service. The waiting staff were still at school, and probably only employed there at weekends. They certainly had not been educated in the art of serving. They cleared plates when all of us had not finished the current course. No attempt was made by any of the staff to top up our wine glasses. I would certainly expect better service in an establishment such as this magnificent hall. The starters and desserts were delicious and nicely presented. On the other hand, the main course - all of us had pork - was certainly not up to standard. I would not say that the pork was tasteless, but certainly heading that way,and covered in an excess of gravy. It would have been nice to have the gravy served separately. The crackling was so rock hard that most of it was left behind but the dish of vegetables was just about acceptable.I certainly hope that this was a one off Sunday and not the regular routine, and also that the waiting staff will be trained to a better standard as they were really friendly and chatty.

Dined here on the night of our stay at the hotel. Really good meal. My beef medallions were very tender and cooked to perfection. The stuffed squid ring starter was new to me and really good. My wife's pork was excellent. All dishes were cooked to perfection.

The food matched that of my birthday treat at Raymond Blanc's Manon Quatre Saisons recently. The five courses were an absolute delight. The waiting staff were professional but not 'hovering'. They appeared as if by magic when wine needed pouring, plates removed etc., There was welsh wine on the menu with prices to match all budgets. We highly recommend this restaurant. Sheila

Some years ago we had Sunday lunch at the Treysgawen Hall, but were not that impressed with the overall visit, as we had expected the establishment to be top notch. Unfortunately it was not. We never thought of visiting again until we were invited by friends to have Sunday lunch there. We were quite discreet about our previous visit when accepting their invitation. On leaving the hotel, how pleased we were to have accepted the invitation to dine there. Everything was vastly improved and so different to our previous visit. Everything was to our satisfaction. As we were all Welsh speakers, it was so nice that out of the six members of staff who attended to our every need in the bar and the restaurant, five were Welsh speakers and the sixth was learning Welsh. What lovely names they had too. Four girls – Elliw, Rhian, Anest and Eldeg were the waitresses and Gwyn at the bar.Soup, Pate, Smoked Salmon and Fruit Cocktail were starters. Main courses were Beef, Lamb, Honey Roast Ham and Fresh Salmon Fillet. Desserts included Crème Brûlee, Bread and Butter Pudding, Summer Berry Eton Mess, Ice Creams and Sorbets, and Cheese plate. Coffee and Chocolate was also included. We were all extremely satisfied with everything we ordered, and on looking around the restaurant, so also were all the other diners. From conversing with the staff, I was assured that probably all the staff during our previous visit had departed and the complete kitchen staff had changed. All for the better I may say. There is no doubt in our minds that a future visit is definitely on the cards. I would recommend anyone to visit. They will not be disappointed. The establishment certainly stands up to its motto of “Delivering the promise of great guest experience”

This was an added cruise port on a Sunday and pretty much everything was closed. We stumbled upon The Gleesons Public House and had a few pints and sang some karaoke. The staff was friendly and the beer was cold. They made the day!

Visited on Saturday 3rd June 2023. First visit and very happy. Nice pub with great views if you sit outside, delicious food and helpful, friendly staff. Truffled rarebit on toast and Fish Finger bun (home made Fish Fingers) both amazing. Will absolutely eat here again.
