My Husband, Dog and I were visiting Presteigne from Kent for the week. After reading the great reviews for No. 46 we decided to visit, first for a drink, and then a few days later for a meal. They have a fantastic selection of gins and nice local ales/ciders. The staff are all wonderfully friendly and helpful. When we went for dinner, all bar 2 of the dishes could be made gluten free for me which was amazing. When the food arrived, it was beautifully presented and the flavours were exceptional (better than any London restaurant we have ever visited). We would like to thank all the staff for making us feel so welcome, and we will definitely return when we next visit the area. They are also super dog friendly of well behaved doggies.

We found Wild Thyme in the High Street in Presteigne while staying nearby. This has apparently only been running under the name 'Wild Thyme' for just over 4 months and is therefore in it's early days. Glad we tried it for dinner. The food was excellent as was the service. It was clean and had a nice decor inside. Prices were reasonable. I understand it is not open every day of the week yet as they are still building menus and ideas. You can sit outside if you wish, but it rather close to the passing travel! Would certainly go back as the food was so good..

Appealing place but not clear from the outside what it is called or what it does. Once inside very well laid out though and takes dogs. Sort of pubby at one end a nd café the other. Not the hugest of welcomes but very friendly. Let down only by coffee that wasn't great and not hot also no real choice of cake, the cookie we had wasn't great. It was however a quiet January Monday morning so I would go again as it was a nice place

You know how you walk in somewhere and you realise straight away you've stumbled across something really special? Welcome to no 46. We first came for a coffee a couple of years ago when the owners (sorry guys, forgotten your names) took over. Confess - recognised that latte photo as mine. So this is our second visit in two years we really should go more often. We were in town for an event with an hour until it started and needed to eat. 'Any chance we can get some food quickly.' Discovered they don't do food (!) but operate an 'open house' policy i.e. bring in a takeaway and they'll provide cutlery, plates and appropriate condiments. Consequently we enjoyed fish, chips, mushy peas AND a glass of Prosecco before heading off in plenty of time for a gig starting 7.30pm. How civilised is that? We definitely won't leave it so long next time....!

Sarah at the bar provided the cutlery and we ordered coffees and hot chocolate, both well made and came well presented. There is a lovely "garden" outside - full of mismatching furniture and moroccan tea kettles on each table! Inside, the lamps are also quirky, and for sale! - some being made up from cassettes and plastic ties! and one of the tables has "tractor seats" for chairs.- very comfortable they were too! Wow!!! What an amazing little find this was! After a walk through the quaint, beautiful village of Presteigne, I came across this small, cosmopolitan style Wine Bar in the middle of the high street. I decided to pop in and was instantly greeted by one of the most charming men I have met! One of the owners, Charlie, originally from New Zealand was lovely, chatting sharing fun stories about life experiences while my wife and I demolished 3 or 4 glasses of wine each! Then Charlie's wife Sarah arrived with their adorable son, Oscar and I could instantly tell this was a family business of which they are both extremely proud! The decor, the ambience and overall feel of this bar was fantastic! To top it all off, they also have a loyalty card in place for coffee which of course, meant I HAD to go back the next day for coffee and more stories. The landlord then ended up sending us away with candles (we had left our cottage in blackness as the fuses had blown) and the offer of a travel cot for our granddaughter who was arriving a few days later. This was a lucky find, aided by the fact that two completely separate sources we met on our way to Presteigne told us to seek this wine bar out. Charlie, the proprietor, shares his enthusiasm for wine in the most friendly and encouraging manner - urging myself and three companions to sample several wines in order to decide which we liked best before purchasing. The wines covered a good spectrum from what I could gather (we didn't try them all!) and the prices were extremely reasonable. The tapas was very good (prepared at the deli opposite and transported across with great efficiency). Just right for a laid-back Saturday night out.The place has a great atmosphere, and seems to be something of a local hub - we were only in town for one night but that didn't detract from the warmth of the welcome we got.
