No 1 Chinese Cafe and Takeaway in Birmingham

I’m a regular! Really affordable takeaway with solid food, a great team and I love the combination of English style Chinese food and Cantonese food.

Overcharged then the menu prices, really small portions, chips were not cooked properly. Also curry sauce pot was only a quarter full, really disapointed i used to eat here all the time really gone down hill

Tiny little place, nothing special to look at but the food was good, take way £25, combo started which was massive, vegetable noodles, chicken dish, 2 egg fried rice, all good potions sizes, tasty.

Ordered food despite request for it to be hot on arrival was tepid, poor quality, first time we’ve ordered and will be the last! **Go spend your hard earned money elsewhere!**

I visited the No. 1 Chinese Cafe and Takeaway 22 Holloway Circus Birmingham for an evening meal before going to the theatre. The food is standard Chinese food and very nice. Service is quick and staff friendly. Prices reasonable to. Have eaten here many times and never been disappointed.

Best sandwich place ever nice salad but too much salad bowl but other ways fantastic great brilliant

Whilst perhaps not white linen and silver cutlery, the service was friendly and the food was good quality, inexpensive and amazing portion sizes. Manager even suggested we were over-ordering so we didn’t end up wasting food and money - he was right! Will definitely go back 👍

This was my second visit and it as good as my first visit, hot tasty food served very promptly. The portions are generous so if you’re here with youngish children one between two will be fine. The decor isn’t great but so what. By way of an aside, it was full of Chinese people so what more do you need to know.

I ordered a takeaway (collect) based on an online menu when staying nearby. On approaching the restaurant I started to regret it! It is right on Holloway Circus which is not the most attractive setting. The restaurant also looked very ‘basic’ (can’t think of an alternative phrase). However, I had paid so I collected... SO GOOD! Every bite was delicious. So it is 5 star for the order being perfect and 5 star for the quality of the food. Shame about the boat race....

I’ve not yet been into the cafe but have ordered online a few times. The bao is really good! Can’t wait to try out more dishes. I wish they do more congee and soup choices online though.

It’s such homely place and offers food cooked by loving mother or father. It reminds my childhood those food brought us up and we stuffed ourselves between schooling sessions. Absolutely love it! And such humble and modest place, 2 people on £8.80!

Don't let the outside put you off. Sure it's not one of the flash places that you can find in the area but our food was tasty, two generous portions of chicken fried rice prepared in minutes. So if, like us, the weather and the traffic conspire to make it too late to eat at a smart restaurant, don't worry. You'll get a decent meal in double quick time and still make it to the show on time. The tables and chairs were all nice and clean. The man at the counter even took the trouble to find a SIM extraction pin which saved our bacon. My phone thought the SIM had gone AWOL and I needed to reboot it so that I could download our theatre tickets!

It's a very honest little place. Really good food, very quick service and great value for money. Not a place for a romantic night out but it's good food at take away prices. Chicken with green pepper and black bean sauce was very good.

We were not impressed with the food. The meat buns do not feel quite fresh. We were not well served at all. The owner does not seem to care anyway.

Delicious food, authentic Chinese and the best tea ever! They do a delivery service too!. Open for lunch and dinner.

Called in here for a quick meal while in Brum. Doesn't look very special from the outside but looked popular with chinese customers so must be doing something right. The inside is very basic and could do with a spruce up. I ordered chicken and sweetcorn soup and garlic chicken with fried rice. The soup was delicious and there was enough to feed two people. The main course came to the table freshly cooked and piping hot. This was also delicious and a proper plate full. The bill came to an amazing £8.10. Gave them a tenner as the meal was well worth this and more. If they gave the place a lick of paint it would be a perfect place to eat.

La comida genial preparados a la orden, el personal era muy atento, educado y alegre. Buena relación calidad-precio para comer en el hotel, muy básico y limpio por dentro comedor con salsa de soja en las mesas y palillos siempre y cuando si lo solicita. También me gustó el fondo china música, lo único que podríamos haber hecho mejor habría sido el papel manteles quizás sólo hizo que la zona parece un poco menos agreste, pero si esto supondría el precio de la comida, no te molestes ya que no es un problema importante, ¡bien hecho y gracias.

Este lugar es un viejo lugar lo antiguo con reminiscencias de un café de los años 1970's, pero no dejes que esto te desanime porque la comida es absolutamente increíble y más auténtico que la mayoría de los otros restaurantes chinos. El hecho de que parecía ser frecuentado principalmente por gente de extracción oriental son un buen presagio para mí ... no me decepcionó y ahora hacen un punto de visitar este lugar cada vez que estoy en Birmingham. El servicio es rápido y el personal es muy atento.

La comida estaba muy bien preparado, el calamar era porciones muy tierna y decentes. Sin embargo, puede haber sido una traducción de menú, pero mi comida no tener una salsa y me pregunto si la descripción de sopa en el menú que se referían a salsa! Es bastante caro para el ambiente limitado.
